FINALLY got around to dumping Spotify after their CEO continued to prove he's a fresh turd. (As if being a billionaire, not paying musicians, shoving AI garbage at us, and having an atrocious carbon footprint wasn't bad enough, he's now the chair of a AI-based weapons manufacturing company.)
I used TuneMyMusic ($24 annual fee you can cancel immediately, effectively paying only once) to transfer almost every single song from our Spotify account to Tidal. Tidal already has much better sound quality and they pay their artists much better. It migrated over 99% of our music, too, so there wasn't a huge loss.

She said it in her head and I know because I can read people's minds. Trust me.

I love you. I love you so much. And I always will. Wataru, will you be my husband?

Marry My Husband Japan
Forewarned is forearmed. I kinda liked it. Ep 8 SPOILERS ahead
I saw the frustration about Ep 8 before watching it, so maybe I was a bit more prepared for it. But I LOVED it.
Wataru Suzuki knows (through all of Misa's experimentation) that he has a death in his future too, and that if he makes moves to avoid it, it will 'bounce' onto someone nearby. Who's close to him? All the people he loves - sister, Misa, family. Given that he's the same guy who's planning to make money off COVID (food delivery LOL), I see the ending pretty optimistically. That wasn't bad-boy music, that was bad-ass music. I think he's off to plan something because he visited Tanabe first. He may even be trying to handle Sumiyoshi's cancer. It's not noble idiocy (I hope), but something a little more deliberate than that.
Ep 9 and 10 are going to be interesting!

I’m not the first to say this, but I like this version of Marry My Husband because Misa isn’t focused on revenge so much as on freeing herself. And that makes her and the show feel so much more real.

Yes it feels more thoughtful and Misa's journey is a lot less self-serving and a lot more about personal growth.
As someone who love love loved the Korean version of Marry My Husband... I gotta say the Japanese take on the show is much better... Sorry but the more serious tone and the subtlety fit the overall storyline much better and the timeline so far isn't fucked either. Also love that they are building Misa and Suzuki's relationship from the ground up before any time travel shenanigans are revealed in a way where both parties are reaching out to each other. It just feels like a stronger relationship overall that is a lot less reliant on one person's unspoken crush.

Honestly, his gobsmacked, exe-not-working reaction to her outfit is a high point in both K and J versions.

To think you went to see his parents in that outfit. I've said things I wanted to say for a long while... Did I freak you out? I prefer the angry you to the one that wears a fake smile.

wait, it's a Liu Yuning thing?!? 😂
The most "killer machine weak for one (wo)man" Liu Yuning character
Wanted to do this, since every drama I've seen him in seems to be cast on the principle of casting directors going "you know what's better than a man who's 6'2 and can do unhinged? A man who's 6'2, can do unhinged and is down on his knees for love." And they aren't wrong.
Anyway, here are our candidates.
The Long Ballad (2021) - we first meet Liu Yuning as he murders some begging man and his mission for most of the drama is to hunt down and murder our FL, his tiny princess love interest's favorite cousin. Yet he would make a carpet of himself for his tiny princess to walk on and almost gets himself murdered making sure she is not forced into an unwanted marriage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heroes (2022) - Liu Yuning starts out as a hero, is literally tortured into a psychotic breakdown, but no matter how many vile acts he commits, even madness cannot get rid of his softness and "brotherly" love for his "sheath" (no, really, they refer to him that way) Zeng Shunxi. If you are thinking there is nothing straight about that drama, you would be right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Legend of Anle (2023) - enter Liu Yuning as "minister of the ministry of punishments" who in addition to torture and murder yearns to artistically cough near our heroine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Journey to Love (2023) - Liu Yuning is the chief of the spy/assassin bureau, he murders a man with a hairpin shortly after we meet him, and his one goal for the future is to retire and move in the middle of nowhere and never speak to another human being. Well, until he meets lady assassin Ren Ruyi, and then said plans get modified to "being dressed up, hair-pinned, protected and eventually bred by my lady." (Side note - I've loved most LYN dramas but this is my n1, also my n1 battle couple of all time, cdramawise.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
About his bod...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heroes (2024) - Liu Yuning is the best swordsman in the world (sadly less useful than it seems since it's the start of the 20th century), on a mission for treasure and with bodies piling up. He is also in love with his dead master's wife (to be fair, she was his girl first, until the old man went "I need a virgin to cure my illness" - yes that drama is dark) and will pause any murder and treasure hunt for his lady's period cramps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Story of Pearl Girl (2024) - a trader/pirate hybrid with sexy braids, at one point Liu Yuning keelhauls our heroine but by the end he's all "I am gonna crawl away and die somewhere by myself so as not to mildly inconvenience her having to move my corpsicle."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eternal Brotherhood (2024, 2025) - Liu Yuning has killed more people than Genghis Khan and puts civilians to the sword as easily as he breathes but he will ditch all his power to take care of his wife after her miscarriage who he likes to proclaim "I am your slave" to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Prisoner of Beauty (2025) - introduced via bloody face and arson, orders a man dismembered and stuffed into a chest within five minutes of screen time, his meet cute with his future wife is trying to murder her with an arrow. By the end? The girl is on top in every conceivable way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Dream Within a Dream (2025?) - has not aired yet but we've all seen the trailers and he's (of course) a murder beast who's (of course) weak for one woman.
Tumblr media
And now a poll...

Just finished Go Ahead 以家人之名 and I must say that this guy is an under-rated gem in the drama. I mean, he's clearly written to be a beta character, but Zhang Xincheng made me sit up and pay attention. So well delivered.
suddenly realized that moduists might not know the infamous crying scene that zhang xincheng, predictably, knocks out of the park, playing some guy named he ziqiu in this tearjerker drama called 以家人之名, go ahead. tbqh i know nothing about this character or his terrible family-of-origin damage but every single time steven tries to laugh and cry at the same time while asking "what did i do wrong, why am i always the one who's deserted?" i lose my whole entire fucking mind, now you too must suffer with me, thank you, you're welcome
ETA: again just to repeat i have no idea what's going on except that CLEARLY HIS FAMILY ARE ABSOLUTE MONSTERS and i hate them all, someone wrap a sweater around this OBVIOUSLY VERY GOOD BOY and make him noodles pls i need him to stop crying

“Here’s the deal. The human soul doesn’t want to be advised or fixed or saved. It simply wants to be witnessed — to be seen, heard and companioned exactly as it is. When we make that kind of deep bow to the soul of a suffering person, our respect reinforces the soul’s healing resources, the only resources that can help the sufferer make it through. Aye, there’s the rub. Many of us “helper” types are as much or more concerned with being seen as good helpers as we are with serving the soul-deep needs of the person who needs help. Witnessing and companioning take time and patience, which we often lack — especially when we’re in the presence of suffering so painful we can barely stand to be there, as if we were in danger of catching a contagious disease. We want to apply our “fix,” then cut and run, figuring we’ve done the best we can to “save” the other person.”

Dear Director, Look this is how you can add OTP scenes! that wasn't so painful was it?
[Oneshot] Stay
Pairing: Jeong Haeseong x Oh Sua (from KDrama Undercover High School)
Category: Oneshot
Rating: PG
Genre: Fluff
Summary: After poor Sua is attacked and injured, a worried Haeseong feels guilty for not being able to protect her and stays by her side throughout the night.
A/N: With 2 episodes left and not enough lip service from our couple, I couldn't help but write something for those of us who are suffering. Hope you are enjoy this.
-
The sharp chill of the night air clung to Haeseong’s skin as he carried a lifeless Sua in his arms. His heart pounded faster than in any mission he had ever faced. He had found her in his house — collapsed and bloodied — after an attack that could have been prevented if he had only read her messages sooner.
The hospital room was sterile and quiet. Too quiet. He sat beside her bed, gripping her arm gently, afraid to let go. Terrified that if he did, she might slip away from him — just like his father had. Though her breathing was steady now, every second felt like an eternity.
"I'm so sorry, Sua," he whispered, his voice cracking as he fought to hold back his emotions. "I should have been there. I should’ve protected you." He carefully brushed a few stray strands of hair from her beautiful face, his thumb lingering softly on her cheek.
A faint voice broke the silence. "You… really need to start treating me better, you know…"
Haeseong’s looked up in surprise, relief flooding his face as his eyes met hers. He let out a soft, breathless laugh, his smile touched with guilt and tenderness. "I was so worried. Thank goodness."
She smiled weakly before her eyes fluttered closed again. He exhaled slowly, settling back into the chair, quietly watching over her as she drifted into sleep.
Hours passed by with the world outside fading away, yet he remained by Sua's side. However, exhaustion eventually pulled him under and his head rested near her pillow.
The rhythmic sounds from the monitor woke her. Slowly, Sua turned her head, her gaze falling on him—so close, so vulnerable, so exhausted. Her hand trembled slightly as she reached out, brushing her fingers along his jaw, then his cheek.
His lashes fluttered open, meeting her gaze. Her hand still mid-motion, caught in the act.
He blinked, dazed for a second, then smiled softly. "Were you… petting me?" His voice was teasing but warm, his heart lighter than it had been all night.
"You looked… too serious," she murmured, her smile small and shy. "You should sleep properly."
He shook his head with a tender smile. "I can’t. Not until I take care of everything." He began to stand, but before he could step away, he felt a tug at his sleeve. He looked down to see her soft, pleading eyes — Don’t go.
He leaned down, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her forehead. Then, without a word, he sank back into the chair, taking her hand carefully in his. "I’m here," he murmured, as his fingers slowly threaded through hers. He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. "I’m not going anywhere."
She gave him the faintest smile, and finally her eyelids fluttered closed as she drifted back to sleep, comforted by his presence. And as the night deepened, Haeseong remained by her side — their hands still intertwined, never letting go.
