During the process of finalising my artwork and presentation for the due date. I wrote out a speech to go over my presentation highlighting the connection of my work to site, connection to Environemtal values of green heart fair, eco material list, budget and min rationale. I also created another sketch of my work on adobe illustrator. To further deliver my concept for my work, showing a close up of the cut outs where the native tube stock sit within the sculpture. I also developed my module more with a focus on integrating the eucalyptus leaves. As well as the form and how the tube stock native plant will sit inside.

I completed the information and process of realizing my work, installing and deconstructing the work after the fair. Outlining safety/practical and durability of the work, with potential risks and weather conditions for the period over the fair. I also went through the budget researching the varying prices of native tube stock plants, as well as the in-kind expenses of my time maintaining, installing, deconstructing, art making process, insurance needed and transportation. I used this weeks' time to further develop my module continuing on crocheting the wire and collecting material. I also started on my reflective rationale outlining my conceptual journey, thinking process, art experimentation, material research, site investigation and final outcome.
Through the process of crocheting the wire I found it to time consuming to do double chains continually. So, I created a long single crochet, which I then folded over together and joined with small bits of wire. I then embedded Lomandra grass weaving through the chains.

This week I focused on reflecting on my material and concept experimentation. Filling in the information for submission including my overall rationale expressing my conceptual foundation of my sculpture. Reflecting on the sustainability connections my artwork has to site. Researching the best material to wrap the tree protecting it from the wire and any damage. I looked into tree wrap, foam installation, canvas and fabric strips, rubber padding and burlap. Coming to the conclusion of burlap hessian fabric as it is a subtle background for my sculpture without covering the trunk fully allowing it to air flow and moisture to reach the bark, whilst adding cushioning. I reflected on my site-specific artwork in acknowledging and respecting the indigenous connection to the land. Through the selection of native plants with descriptions of significant historical uses. Incorporating the process of weaving lomandra grasses through the wire sculpture. I also completed my eco material analysis on the main elements of my artwork.

Spatial Art Overview Presentation
A wire sculpture that wraps around the trunk of the tree. Exhibits multiple layers of wire creating sunken pockets within the sculpture lined with clay. Holding native flora of the Victoria/Barrambin Park site. Connecting to the plant material originally on site before colonisation and introduced plants. Representing the significance for regenerating the genetically local plant material on site. Commenting on the multiple uses of these native species for the traditional owners of the land.

This week I focused on sketching ideas and how to create my concept/design goal with my desired materials. Expressing different organic forms using elements from the Victorian/Barrambin park site. The sketches of the four standing up banners and sheets around the tree trunk represent the combined use of branches, leaves, bark from the site weaved together creating a collection of the site's materials . With the layers commenting on the topography of the site. The organic bubble like drawing with the birds show a concept to include the wildlife in creating a hanging safe space, with the bowl holding water commenting on the original ponds and waterways. The depictions of the sculpture around the tree and on the stand represent a wire crocheted and weaved form, that has pockets to hold native flora of the site. Bringing attention to the importance of regions genetic plant material, connecting to the plants held on the original site, before the increased use of colonial plants.

During this week I further developed my concept, aiming on creating a regenerative artwork that can give back to the site. A work that comments on the original aspects of the site, how indigenous people used the native plant materials, Barranbin as a gathering, growing, healing and open traveling area for passing through travelers. Before the earthworks of filling in the ponds, removing rocks, putting in pipe irrigation to make it resemble a European parkland then golf course. Researching on the history/elements of the site and finding artworks that inspire my development of my artwork.

This week I started developing my concept for my site specific artwork. Exploring how to express a connection between the artwork and Victorian/Barranbin parkland. Representing the importance and strong history of the site of the traditional custodians of the land. Key focus on sustainability as an artist, through the making process, material use, how the work sits within its environment and the disposal process. Creating a sustainable/regenerative artwork that will positively impact the location, utilize natural resources in a mindful way, increase biodiversity and enrich soils. With emphasis on a harmonious relationship between humans and the environment.
Being inspired by the topography and different elevations with visible direction of water ways, viewpoints, high points and sunken areas. Reflecting on the vegetation on site, with a lot of colonial plants rather than native plants. Openness of the space, minimal shelter, shade and natural canopy. Weather hot as the majority of the site was in the sun and was very windy, commenting on the name of the site Barranbin (windy place).
Within my artwork I want to include practices of textiles, including stitching, weaving, crocheting creating free flowing organic forms. I want to include materials such as plant material from the existing site, water, clay and wire.
