hey so I'm here to throw my hat into the ring with regards to this post and if we feel it's intentional or just the craziest coincidence

see, mettaton also wears a red suit similar to what tenna and spamton in his old days used to wear. this isn't news.

but you could dismiss this as a reference but not a deep one indicating if the trash in waterfall is also a reference—tenna's design was made but it's uncertain how far along he was developed as a character

but then I was looking at dialogue from the geno route before mettaton neo

mettaton literally has no reason to say this.

it should be clear that toby had the idea for a real neo fight in deltarune before spamton became entwined in that idea, that came later, but, still. makes you wonder why spamton was the perfect character to get caught up in the neo stuff with his dynamic to tenna and here is mettaton straight up fucking dropping tenna's catchphrase

from the red suit to this, tenna was definitely developed enough as a character to intentionally reference.

and I don't think that a character he calls a mailman, whose name is an anagram of postman, would just so happen to be coincidentally referenced next to trash found in the waterfall, the dump, right by where mettaton's old house is.

so spamton was conceptually tied to tenna at this point. it's too perfect. so that trash pile is MOST DEFINITELY a reference. it's not just insanity toby is just crazy himself.

makes me wonder how much mettaton truly was influenced developmentally by tenna and spamton honestly. it's funny because he has none of their fucking issues lol he escaped the doomed and just went to serve cunt good for him

jackenstein being the tutorial for the titan fight because play/pretend can help prepare you for actual hard/difficult times… and jackenstein is a Halloween decoration… the holiday entirely based on playing with scary/uncomforting things… runs into a wall and leaves a me shaped impression
