Finished just in time for the show (sorta, lol) is my third painted gunpla build of 2025, the High Grade Gundam QuuuuuuX!

This was fully hand painted with Mr. Hobby Aqueous paints, using both Delpi and G-Rework decals, and then sprayed with Mr. Hobby Premium Top Coat.

I was very particular about making this as color accurate as possible, matching the color guide very closely, and it's almost perfect. A ton of extra work went into all sorts of smaller details not even present on the kit out of the box. The only big missing detail here is the blue-er white for a two-tone look on some parts (and I didn't really care for that look anyway).

As it is now I couldn't be any happier with how it came out.

The big thing that warmed me up on this kit and the design generally was how poseable it is. It's a fun kit to play with and looks great from just about any angle, as I hope I've displayed here.

Even if you don't end up painting it, this is a kit you don't want to miss.

This one also took some time, though at this point I'm happy with this pace. It's easier to manage when I don't have a ton of free time. My next kit should be a little bit less elaborate than this one at least. But till next time..

Justice arrives in the nick of time!

It took a bit but my second painted build of 2025 is complete, the HGCE Infinite Justice Gundam Type II! Once again hand painted with Mr. Hobby Aqueous, using G-Rework decals and this time top coated with Aqueous Premium Topcoat Smooth Clear from the can.

I think this is best looking version of the Justice, mixing both the Immortal and original Infinite Justice, making it into a sharper and more refined design. The Volantes (the backpack, yes it does look a bit like an X-Wing) helps clean up the silhouette compared to the older packs and adds even more beam effects, which are always fun.

I did have a bit of trouble painting those beam effects, and with how many this kit has I had to get it right. I think I did in the end. I really enjoy this pearlescent look for beam effects, especially for shields. They look even better with sunlight on them. I also want to give a shout-out to the Aqueous Super Metallic Super Fine Silver. Looks great hand painted (here on the joints, hands, and leg vents) and I'm sure it'd look even better airbrushed on. I gotta find the Super Fine Gold so I can use it on the Strike Freedom.

And that makes 2/3 final battle suits from the movie. Obviously I need to make the HGCE Mighty Strike Freedom at some point, but before that I have the HG GQuuuuuuX next, just in time for the show too. I don't know how long that'll take so until then, I hope you enjoy! ✌🏼

A Knight rises to the occasion!

This is a quick post showing off one of my favorite kits I've built so far this year, the 30 Minutes Fantasy Liber Knight & it's Paladin armor set!

I had a great time putting this together and the end result is a really good action figure. Strong articulation even with the armor on (though it's a bit restricted with the Paladin set) and lots opportunity for customization with different weapons and armor sets.

The build is split between two forms, the Silhouette and the Armor. The Silhouette is the body that wears the armor and is most of the actual build. The Armor is simple enough- you just replace a few parts on the Silhouette, add the rest on and it's done. The same goes for any of the extra armor sets you get.

I do plan to come back to this and paint it at some point once I have an idea of what exactly. In the mean time I do want to pick more of these kits when they show up over here in the states. Maybe make a party of them, we'll see. And to finish I have a little update on the Infinite Justice. It's done! The top coat went great and I'm happy with how it came out. I should have a post about it up soon. Until then I hope you enjoy! ✌🏼

A quick sampling of High Grades!

I meant to have this up sooner but this time I have a few snap-built kits to show, the HGWFM Beguir-Beu Torche, HGG-Reco Gundam G-Self and HGFC Dragon Gundam!

The Beguir-Beu Torche showcases all of the strengths of the HGWFM line. Near-perfect color separation, good articulation and a great design. The equipment changes from the original Beguir-Beu may turn off some people but I love the weird legs and they add some interesting shapes to an already cool suit.

I was initially going to fully paint the Perfect Pack version of the HG G-Self until they announced the Metal Robot figure. So instead I bought that and traded the other kit for this one! This is actually partially painted with Dspiae markers, just wherever there were stickers or missing colors. As much as I love the G-Self though I wouldn't recommend either of the retail kits, despite not being that old it having a ton of missing detail and poor articulation really hold it back.

The HG Dragon Gundam is an interesting contrast to the G-Self. A ten year difference in engineering and being stuck on p-bandai shows the difference in articulation, color separation and accessories. It's just a better kit in every way. That does come with a cost though as the Dragon Gundam is like 50 bucks shipped. It's a great kit though and I'm excited for the eventual HG Bolt Gundam announcement. At this point I have been working on my next painted build, the HGCE Infinite Justice Gundam Type II! I should have it painted by next week and with the weather warming up I'll hopefully be able to top coat it. I do have one more kit to show that'll get it's own post with how much fun it was, but for now I hope you enjoy! ✌🏼
