Reliqua is an app that helps users relax. With all the stresses of life, especially those coming from digital use, my partner and I thought it would be refreshing to create an outlet within the user’s smartphone or tablet that allows them to take a break. First, the user creates a custom profile that tracks their progress. After, they are free to explore Reliqua’s features such as visually stimulated breathing techniques, sleep monitoring, and inspirational advice to improve the user’s life. It also features resources to help users find relaxation solutions outside of the app, suggesting options such as workouts, massages, and aromatherapy.

The Point Loma PreHealth Student Association is a group that provides resources for students who are studying to go into the medical field. It has five branches, Predental, Preoptometry, Preveterinary, Prepharmacy, and Premedical. Each branch meets at different times and has different resources for its members, but they are all unified under the PLPHSA brand. So for this project, I created the unifying brand and selected fonts and colors. Then for the sub-brands, I pulled elements from the overarching brand to create cohesive, but unique designs. Each features a simple illustration that shows what the sub-brand’s field focuses on.

For this project, I paired with a photographer who shoots nightlife photography in Southern California. We cultivated a gallery show that would showcase not only his photography, but the electronic nightlife scene as a whole. My contribution to the show was to design illustrated wall art to create environmental design for the gallery space. I pulled elements from his photography, as well as from the culture of nightlife.

Point Loma Nazarene University’s Creation Care Week takes place every fall to educate students, faculty, and the surrounding community about current ecological issues and the green initiatives that PLNU takes to make the campus more environmentally conscious. This project was a collaboration between four design groups seeking to create awareness about the week long event. My portion within this project was to communicate what green actions PLNU is currently taking. I temporarily spray chalk painted messages on outdoor stairs around campus so that as people go about their day, they learn more about how PLNU helps sustain our resources.

A comprehensive brand that addresses the complexities of a healing natural landscape. Black Diamond Mines regional park is a located in northern california that served as commercial mining land in the 1800s. Today, it is a protected parkland where people can hike the natural hillsides, or explore the retired mining caves below. The Black Diamond brand was created to invite people from surrounding areas to a local landscape, and help them have a structured and cohesive experience while there.

This large format publication was created to celebrate a beloved but short run television show. Freaks and Geeks ran for only one season, but has gained a cult following because of its ability to touch on culture and adolescence. The newsprint features summaries, quirky jokes, character bios, and outside information on how the show was made. Its large scale and multi photo format means it’s easy to read with friends and catch up on all of the wonders of the show. For the design, I stayed true to the grunge feel of the show in the color scheme and tint of the photos, but focused on leaving negative space so that readers can access content more easily.
