I love how "Sinners" didn't villify the sinners in the movie. Sammie's father told him that playing music for "drunkards and philanderers who abandon their family responbilities to sweat all over each other" was a sin. And he was right about the kind of people going to the juke joint: Delta Slim is an alcoholic, and Pearline a cheater. It would have been easy to villify them, but the movie tells us that despite their flaws, they are humans worthy of love, respect and freedom.
Delta Slim drinks because he's traumatized by the horrors Black people of his time face. And he's kind and compassionate, encouraging and reassuring Sammie, and sacrificing himself to save everyone else.
Pearline literally saved Sammie's life and sacrificed herself to protect him, a boy she had only known for a day. It shows her kindness because she could have easily stayed back when Remmick tried to bite Sammy and not endangered her life more than necessary.
The movie shows us that preachers blindly condemning those sinners are wrong: Sammie is only alive because drunkards, philanderers and gangsters (Smoke) gave their lives to protect him. They are people, with flaws and qualities.
I love how nuanced the movie is: Sammie's father is not wrong about the kind of people Sammie wants to associate with and their potential bad influence, but he's wrong about them being evil and not deserving of respect.

🇵🇸💔 From Gaza, with Hope
Hello, my name is Nour, and I’m writing to you from Gaza.
We have lost everything.
Our home, worth $50,000, was completely destroyed in the recent war. Our car, worth $20,000, is gone. We’ve been displaced seven times, carrying our children from one unsafe place to another — hoping to survive.
My parents suffer from chronic illnesses — high blood pressure and severe spinal disc pain — and we no longer have access to proper medication or care.
Prices of basic goods have become insane:
• 1 kg of flour = $30
• 1 kg of onions = $80
• 1 kg of sugar = $100
Imagine living with no home, no income, and no future for your children under these conditions.
We are raising funds to rebuild even the smallest part of our life again. Even $10 can make a difference.
Please don’t forget Gaza. Don’t forget us.
💔 Every share and every donation is hope.
Thank you.

I don't know how long this will last, but the situation here in Gaza is getting worse every day after the war between Iran and Israel. I forgot about Gaza. No one talks about us anymore, and the news doesn't mention us. All that is being discussed is Iran, Israel, and America. It's as if they forgot that the main problem is Gaza.

The Cost of Staying
Sometimes it’s not that you didn’t want the job.
It’s that you wanted it too much.
You worked too hard. Put up with too much. Got good at things you never thought you’d be good at. Found your rhythm. Found your people. Maybe even started to believe you belonged there.
And then it changed.
Or maybe it didn’t. Maybe it was always like this and you just finally let yourself admit that the cost was too high.
That staying meant watching someone else get away with it. That staying meant shrinking a little bit each day. That staying meant carrying your own silence like it was professionalism. Like it was maturity. Like it was strength.
But here’s the truth no one wants to put on a poster: Sometimes leaving is the only way to protect yourself.
And that doesn’t mean you failed. It doesn’t mean you weren’t strong enough. It means the place wasn’t safe enough.
And maybe that’s not the ending you deserved, but it’s not the end of your story either.

Honestly, if you're a kid and an adult tells you "they're just trying to get a reaction out of you :)" as a response to being told that some younger kid is tormenting you, that should count as full permission to punt that little shit. Like I would never hit a child, but if you're seven years old and a five-year-old is being a cunt at you and adults just tell you "oh they just want to find out what happens if they keep doing that", wouldn't only be fair to let them know what happens if they keep doing that?
Siblings should never be left responsible of raising each other, but if adults have decided that they are allowed to fuck around, wouldn't it only be your right - or even downright duty - to let them consequently find out?

Gaza Updates:
– At least 48 Palestinians have been killed by Israel since dawn, including 33 people waiting for aid.
– Al-Awda Hospital reports 60 people wounded by occupation forces near the Netzarim Corridor aid distribution point.
A message from us:
– Israel continues bombing across Gaza, with occupation ground forces destroying what remains of homes and infrastructure in the north.
With everything going on, Gaza is being forgotten. The genocide has not stopped and the forced starvation, mass slaughter of civilians and destruction of homes and infrastructure continues.
Please keep sharing videos, stories, and testimonies from Gaza on your socials. Go to marches, take direct action, educate people on BDS and use our resources to keep Gaza in peoples minds 🫂
Don't forget that we need help. Donate to us. We are going through very difficult circumstances and hunger is exhausting our bodies. Donate here
