Reflection #5
This assignment was the hardest one we did. We went out of our comfort zone and went to places that we never went to. We did our best in order to implement what was in our minds and we tried as much as possible to make the picture look natural, and to take the perfect shot. we tried to do so by picking an outfit for each picture and choosing different girls for each picture; we focused on every detail. The hardest part in all the assignment was the final part which was the printing the pictures. We wanted the quality of the printing to be perfect and it was hard choosing which printing shop is the best. My partner and I managed to work in harmony and in an organised way. We learnt that it us very important for the models to look and feel comfortable while taking the picture because this effects the picture a lot and we also learnt that lighting is very important.

Visual Research
We have found a photographer called Viktorija Stapone, who has done a project about capturing the bond between Humans and nature, which is very similar to our project. The description of her project was about how nature became a fairy-tale plot and the concrete life has become a daily phenomenon. She wants to draw a clear boundary between nature, and the man-made world that is full of illusions that we live in. The city is just a comfort zone we make for ourselves, but forests aren’t as scary and dark as they seem.

Reflection #4
Assigment 4 was harder than I thought. Taking the picture it self was not hard, but finding a feather and making it look like the one in the picture was hard. I learnt from this assigment that it is impossible to copy a picture exaclty as it is, there will always be something different; for example the light, the color and the shape. No matter how easy the picture looks like, it is impossible to make it look 100% like the original one.

Reflection #3
This assigment was my favorite by far. It was very exciting going to Khan El Khalili it self because it was my first time to go. At first, I did not know how to appraoch people and I spent a while in order to open a proper conversation with them. Most of them also refused to take a picture after talking, however, after a while I talked to Mohamed. He was very friendly and we were able to make a proper conversation; he kept talking mainly about his past and he did not mention anything negative in his life. I would definitely love to go there again.

“My name is Mohamed Abdalla. I am blessed with a loving wife, 5 girls and 2 boys; last week my daughter gave birth to a girl and I am very lucky that I got the chance to see my grad-daughter before dying. The happiest moment of my life was when I was a soldier in the 6th of october war. We barely slept and when we had the chance to do so we slept anywhere. We also did not eat anything cooked, all we ate was readily made food such as biscuits and bread. It was very hard to survive those 30 days I spent there and everything we did was extremely tyring and stressful. The moment I saw our enemies screaming and shouting “zai el neswan” was the moment I realized that those sleeples and endless nights were worth it. I thank god everyday for my lovely family and for getting the chance to be part of a victory like this.”

Reflection #2
At the beginning I thought that this assigment could be done in an hour or two and in my first attempt it took me approxminelty 2-3 hours to take almost all the pictures, however, when I showed them to the dr. I realized that they are badly done. I realized that they are literal pictures not lateral; which means that I took clichè pictures and those pictures where taken many times from many different people. The purpose of thise assigment was to take the required pictures in a lateral way; which means in a way that has never been done before. Taking lateral pictures and doing the assigment again was not easy at all, however, I did my best in order for the pictures to look unique and new.
