His heart couldn’t take much more. Meko looked close to crying. It was digging so hard into his chest that he felt like he might puke. His brother was crying and it was all his fault. His brother missed him – his brother was lonely without him. And it was all Komako’s fault. Some of the blame could he pushed onto his manager – but wasn’t it Komako who left without saying goodbye? Who abandoned his brother? Who didn’t try and talk it over with him – who left him high and dry?       He wanted to apologize again – but he saw the tears. He saw the tears and he heard the choked out whisper from his brothers lips. Eyes widening a fraction more, he knew he was being invited inside. He should take that as more than enough and welcome it. He should walk inside, they should talk – but he couldn’t take much more.       “Rice – “ Was all he got out, before he lunged at his brother. Tackling him into the entry way, he wrapped his arms tightly around him as his tears spilled over once more. Meko could punch him, kick him, bite him – tell him he hated him, but right now all that mattered was he was touching him again.       He was so warm. He was so warm and he felt the same way in his arms that he did before. He was Komeko – his other half, part of him. They had been together forever, never apart for more than a day. Until now. Sixteen months without being able to feel this man in his arms – it was too much.       “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! I love you – I’m so sorry!” he cried into his brothers neck.
Tumblr media
He was startled by his brother’s actions, nearly falling back when he had suddenly thrown himself at him. He was suddenly wrapped in his brother’s arms and he was upset with how much better he felt. Even after all this time, it didn’t matter, his touch was comforting to the younger twin and almost immediately he wrapped his arms around his brother, clinging to him. His brother was warm and comforting and he never wanted to let him go. All the pain he felt beforehand seemed to melt away slowly and he held tighter onto his twin’s clothing.  Komeko could feel his brother’s tears and he listened quietly to his apologies. It all went in one ear and out the other. The other shouldn't have to apologize. There was no reason to. Their separation was neither his fault nor his brother’s. People were greedy and unfortunately they were taken advantage so that their managers could gain popularity and income. He turned his face, pressing against his brother he clung and whispered his name repeatedly. “I missed you so much, I love you too, please don’t leave me alone again,” he cried in return. The way he held onto his brother there was no intention of letting go. “I didn’t know what to do without you,” he tried to even out his breathing, closing his eyes. “I thought you left because something I did. I thought I wasn’t good enough anymore. I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” He wasn’t sure what he was sorry for. Maybe for thinking like that. He should have never doubted him.

Of course he didn’t really want to leave. He didn’t want to go anywhere. He wanted to wrap his arms around his brother and pull him in and stay there forever. Just hearing him say his name again caused his heart strings to clench up. Swallowing roughly, he wasn’t sure what he could say. How could he clear up what had happened? Sixteen months they were apart. Anything he said wouldn’t ease that hurt in his brother’s voice. He didn’t deserve to ease that hurt in his voice.       But – Meko deserved an explanation. He lifted his head up, his arm burning from where he had been touched. He wanted to touch him – he wanted to be touched. He felt restless looking at him. It seemed almost like it was a life time ago that he was able to touch him freely. Crawl in bed with him and feel him without any doubt at all. Now he was full of doubt and fear and he never thought he would feel like this when he was with Komeko.       “I – “ His words caught in his throat as he attempted to explain the mistake to his brother. “I was . . deceived. I – I made a mistake – “ He sounded childish and stupid to his own ears. Making excuses for his mistakes. He didn’t deserve to explain. He hurt his brother – the one person he swore he would never hurt. He was trying to protect him, and in turn hurt him worst of all.       “I – I’m so sorry, I really . . I . . can – can I come inside, K – Komeko?”
Tumblr media
It was an explanation that was almost too hard to believe. He did not understand. What had been said. Who had said it to have Komako turn against his own twin? Though he was probably thinking about this the wrong way, his manager’s words of how much Mako no longer cared about him still ringing in his ears. Once more he brought his hands to his eyes, holding back the tears. It was strange to hold so much doubt in his brother’s words, when at one point he would believe anything he told him without a second thought.  “I missed you.” His voice was barely above a whisper. The months of heartache due to the fact he had to sleep in an empty bed and wake up without his twin’s comfort, he could not tell him that he forgave him. “I- I was lonely.” He never realized how much he relied on his twin before his sudden disappearance.  Despite how negative he might have sounded towards his twin’s arrival and wanting to come inside, Komako was more than happy to let him in. He could not bring himself to speak, due to the words that were stuck in his throat and his hands that covered his face, so he simply nodded, moving his body to the side and allowing his twin to step inside. His tears feel freely down his face now, though he was positive it was due to the relief of seeing his twin and the sadness he felt when he was alone. “Komako,” he choked out a quiet whisper.

Truth to be told – he wasn’t expecting the door to open. He’d had this dream before; that he went to Komeko’s new home, banged on the door and there was no answer. Not because this wans’t his home – but because Komeko didn’t want to see him. He would understand if that was the case. What he had done was cruel. He didn’t deserve forgiveness – even if he was just trying to protect his little brother.       But when the door did open – his chest seized up. There he was – his brother. He looked the same, which reminded Mako how different he looked. Swallowing down a lump in his throat – he was about to take a step forward to embrace him. But before he made more than a shuddering twitch of his legs – he saw it. Komeko was going to slam the door on his face. His eyes widened in fear – expecting it so heavily that when there was no locking lock keeping him out, he was at a loss for words.       For the first time in his life, he felt like his brother didn’t want to see him.       Swallowing heavily, he was silent – which was a contract to his previous shouting. His brothers voice was ringing in his head. But he hadn’t said anything past his name and a broken beginning to a word. Komako stared at him for a moment longer. The hands that had been banging on the door stayed hovered in the air, before turning into fists as he lowered them to his side along with tucking his chin against his neck.       What was he thinking coming over here? He had came over on a whim, an urge and a need – after finding out that their separation had been nothing more than a lie. He had ran over here – and why? Komeko probably didn’t want anything to do with him. As far as he knew, his brother had thrown him out with the trash for fame and money. He had seen the tears in his twins eyes and stared down at the ground as they formed in his own. His face hurt from the fight, his chest hurt from the lie – and now his head hurt because he hurt his brother and was making him cry.       “Ri – Rice,” he choked out as he clenched his fists tighter and squeezed his eyes shut. “I – I’m so – sorr – “ One of his balled up fists came up to scrub at his eyes where tears wanted to breach. “I – I’ll go – I’m –”      Stupid, stupid, stupid. He shouldn’t be here. Komeko probably was happy without him. He probably got used to life. He probably hated and resented his brother for abandoning him.
Tumblr media
He would feel terrible later on for even thinking of closing the door in his brother’s face. He wanted to reach out and touch him, make sure that yes, his brother was really there. He did not say anything and then finally lowered his hand to his side.  When he got a good look at his brother’s face, just before he lowered his head, he noticed the aftermath of the fight, though had yet to realize or ask what had happened. He blinked quickly, trying to prevent the tears from falling down his face as once again his brother used that silly nickname. He had finally let go of the door to quickly rub his hands over his eyes, listening as his brother struggled to apologize. Now he was insisting that he should go? No matter how angry he felt toward his brother, he did not want him to go.  “Mako!” He couldn’t let him go and he did not need to think twice before quickly reaching out to grab his twin’s arm. He was still mad but he also still loved him. No matter the reason or how long they were separated, no matter how much he wanted to stay angry, he couldn’t.  As quickly as he reached to touch his brother, he let him go. “Why.. Why did you go?” he choked out through those stupid tears he was trying to hold back. “You left,” he cried out, voice shaken. “Y-You didn’t say goodbye.”

Tumblr media
It had been sixteen months. Sixteen grueling months of having nothing. Sixteen months since he last saw his little brothers face in person. In person was the key factor here – he saw his brothers face every day in the mirror. When the person you longed to be with most of all shared the exact same features as you, it was almost painful to look at yourself. He saw his brother’s face in the mirror, on magazines and plastered on billboards. The table next to his bed in the small apartment he had been calling home was covered with clippings and magazines showing his brother. That was a source of comfort for him. Touching the glossy print and seeing those soft lips, beautiful brown eyes – that silky black hair. It was his face – but it was his brothers face.       And he missed it.       It had been sixteen months since he had last touched him. Breathed the same air as him, sit in the same space of him. It was all their fault – but he was also to blame here. His manager, the person he thought was taking care of both of them had came to him one day. Telling him all these things – that the twins were more marketable as separate individuals and not a pair. That rumors of incest were surrounding them by how close they were and it was causing problems. A well taken care of hand had grasped his and the cruel words had left his lips easily. That things would start happening to them if they stayed together. That people would target them, that Komeko would be in danger if he stayed with Komako. Threats were laid, saying that they couldn’t protect the youngest twin if Komako didn’t separate himself from him.       He had fought at first. He had refused and fought against them. Komako had thought nothing could keep him away from his brother at first. He knew that ‘Meko had noticed something wrong about his behavior. But he had planned on playing it off – until they showed him the articles. His manager told him that they had stopped it from going into print as he laid down a magazine showing a doctored photograph of the twins – pressing their lips against one another. The slew of INCEST – IMMORAL BEHAVIORS FROM TOP RANKING MODELS? was across the head lines. Komeko’s face was circled in red and there was a small white text box on the cover of the magazine blaming the youngest twin. It was easy to blame Komeko – after all, Komako was known to be a bit of a flirt without any real meaning behind it. The magazine painted Komeko as drawing his brother into sin and corrupting the person who took care of him. When ‘Mako’s blood ran cold as his manager told him that people would start to target his brother – he realized that something could kepe him away from his twin.       The fear of keeping him safe.       Komako hadn’t said goodbye to his brother. He hadn’t told him anything – he simply didn’t come home. He sent Komeko’s manager over to explain that Komako wanted to further his career alone and didn’t want to see his brother anymore. It was probably a more believable lie with how Komako had been acting. From then on – he heard nothing from his brother. On his own choice, and through the actions of his manager. The man did his best to keep them apart – and for sixteen months it worked. In sixteen months, the twins grew older. In sixteen months, Komako started wearing contacts more instead of his glasses – he dyed his hair brown and finally blonde. He went on with his life and simply worked. He ate enough to keep his figure up, he slept and worked. It was fine by his manager, money was rolling in as the twins were in bigger demand than ever with their new changes and the fact that they were taking jobs with other actors and actresses.       The twin even had more rumors about him now. There was one going around about homosexuality and that he was dating his current favored co-star – a lie of course, as he had no interest in anyone that wasn’t his brother. He wondered how Komeko felt when he saw the rumors. He wondered how Komeko felt in general. Twins were meant to feel one anothers feelings from distances – but he couldn’t feel anything without his brother by his side. It would have gone on like this for – god knows how long – had it not been for an eavesdropping conversation. Komako had gone to his managers office to ask about the current rumors of him being gay – wondering if they could harm his brother in any way – and happened to overhear his manager talking about that magazine from sixteen months ago.       They spoke about how to deal with a real threat like this. That the last time they had something that could harm the twins career – it was the fake magazine they had shown Komako about Komeko. To learn that the only thing keeping him away from his brother was a fucking lie had made his blood boil. After throwing the door open, getting in a fist fight with his manager and ripping Komeko’s managers address book out of his hands – he was out the door flipping through it in order to find his brothers current apartment.
Tumblr media
Shouts and cusses followed him that he would lose his job over this, but as he wiped the blood away from his nose from the first that had slammed against him – all he could think about was his brother. His brother and the wasted sixteen months away from him. It wasn’t hard to find the top models address from his managers little black book. It wasn’t hard to get a taxi to take him over there. It was hard seeing the building his brother lived in – remembering the number and running in his designer shoes – knowing that he could see him soon. Because he was terrified. Terrified of Komeko hating him. Mako was even wearing his glasses at the moment – and hoped that he wouldn’t hate him as his fists slammed on the door he prayed to belong to his brother.       “R – Rice! Rice!”
Tumblr media
Sixteen months. It had been sixteen long months. Months of constantly wondering what he had done. What was his brother thinking? He felt betrayal. His twin had left him behind without as much as a goodbye. It hurt. It hurt to know that his brother had just left and the reason being because he wanted to further his career and he didn’t want him around to do it. That was what his manager seemed to make him think. He made it seem like Komako was different, that for awhile now he did not care about his brother. It was foul play on his manager’s part, but his dependency on his twin was obvious. A simple ‘Your twin does not care about you anymore.’ was enough to break his spirit.  He never stopped watching his brother. He couldn’t. He would watch him grow, watch him change. It hurt, because it was a constant reminder that Komako was changing, because he did not want to be reminded of his twin. Komeko struggled. He didn’t know what to do with himself when he did not have his brother. It was a few rough months of not eating, not sleeping properly, and depression.  The rumors hurt as well, because what if they were not just rumors? Was it true? Was his brother really moving on from him? Did he not need him anymore? The sinking feeling of possibly continuing alone was horrible. He had been confident it was all a misunderstanding. That his brother was being forced to move on without him, but that belief had been wavering. He was scared that maybe he would not see his brother in person anytime soon. He’d only be able to see him in magazines and hear his voice from the television. His manager pushed him. He pushed him to take on jobs, to open up his career to new people. He tried to tell him he did not need his twin. He didn’t want to think that maybe he was believing that. For a moment he  thought he was hearing things. That silly nickname that he would tell his twin he did not like, but secretly it made him smile. He would have thought he was imagining it but there was someone slamming on his apartment door. The noise scared him, because he was used to the silence. As sad as that may have seemed. The younger twin jumped, wary to approach the door, but then there was that silly nickname again and only one person called him that. Suddenly he was standing there, the door flung open and a panicked looking twin staring out at the figure on the other side of the door. It happened within what felt like seconds. For a moment, it was as though he looked in a mirror, but things were different. His hair was different. Blond. Of course he knew that, but to see it in person? It felt much more surreal. “M-Mako?” His chest swelled. He wanted to asked what he was doing here? How did he find him? “Wh-” Then he felt angry. His brother left him behind for sixteen months and just suddenly sprung up at his door? He did not register the fact tears were already starting to form and he was holding onto the edge of the door so tightly his knuckles turned white. For a moment it seemed like he might slam the door in his twin’s face and that was certainly a thought that passed his mind, though he only managed a slight push. He couldn’t. He wouldn’t lock his brother out. He didn’t want to admit even after all this time he was relieved to see him.

He was not Nobu. His face was the same, his voice similar – but he was not Nobu. He would not coddle the boy. He was grabbed, and he could tell the malicious intent coming from him. He stared at Naru, and reached up to grip his wrists. The boy was no stranger to death – but this was Nobu. This was someone that they both held dear, and was so much more than conventional titles could properly fit to Naru and his brother.       “He should be alive. He should be here. But he’s not. And it’s his own fault,” his hands were tight as he gripped his wrists – and proceeded to push them down onto the mattress. Naru needed sleep. Not this. “Don’t downgrade his death by blaming it on yourself. My Brother was not a coward, he’s a dead man. A dead mans fault is his own.”
Tumblr media
It wasn’t. It wasn’t his fault at all. it was Naru’s fault. He should have protected him. He should have been more careful, he could have saved him. He could have saved them both and thinking like that tore him apart. He realized that maybe Nari was right and maybe he should listen to him, but he was still so buried with guilt he couldn’t. He wouldn’t.  “I miss him.” His voice was shaky, a warning for the tears to come. “I don’t belong here. I belong with Nobu.” Nobu would not want him to think that way, but it was difficult not to. He blinked a few times, trying to stop himself from crying, because Naru did not cry. He liked to tell himself that, but if he was scared he could cry in front of Nobu. He could not cry in front of Nari, yet there he was, trying to hold back tears that were already spilling down his cheeks. “I want to go home. I want Nobu,” he cried quietly to the other.

Shiro’s attention had been grabbed – though it looked like the dog was still panic ridden. Yasunari stared at him for a moment, a bit slow as he felt touch touches to his face. Eyes closing once more from where they had opened, he breathed out softly through his mouth and tilted his head towards the tracing finger tips. The tapping against his cheek, he was a bit comforted by it. While he was no crying child in panic of being alone or hurting more than he already was – he still enjoyed it.       It was only when he felt the touch to his forehead and heard the choked sounds – did he realize how panicked Shiro was. That in turn caused concern from the injured yakuza. The hand that was not connected to his currently ruined shoulder drew up weakly in order to touch the whimpering dogs arm.       “Shiro . . “ His voice was weak and scratchy, quiet and easily mistaken fro a wheeze of a breath. He wanted to comfort him. To tell him to breath deeply and calm down, that he was fine and would be alright. But the sweat beading on his brow and the slight tremble to his arm as he touched him was less than reassuring. Still, Nari nuzzled his face back against his as best as he could.       “’s okay . .”
Tumblr media
Should he really be the one trying to comfort him? Shiro Should be comforting Nari, not this. Still, the dog’s whiny noises had calmed slightly as he heard Nari’s voice. Though it took him a moment to connect the fact that Nari was talking to him because he had woken up.  It didn’t matter how shaky or how weak his movements or his touch was. It was enough for him, but he only let it last for a moment. He would lift his head, carefully taking the hand that touched him and held it close to his face for a moment before placing it back down against the bed. Against the palm he spoke to Nari the only way he could, letting him know he was here and he wasn’t moving. No one could make him. Noticing the sweat to his brow, he would gently press the sleeve of his clothing against his forehead. Fingers pressed against him once more. It was not like he knew how to really check for a fever, but he’d try anyway. It made him feel somewhat more at ease. His skin was not burning up and nothing gave him a sign that he should be worried.  There was no way two people were meant to fit, but that wasn’t stopping Shiro considering he refused to not touch the elder twin. He pressed his face into the other’s uninjured shoulder. He was trying to be gentle about it.
He still tried to speak though only managed faint vowel sounds. His voice did not sound as panicked though it was strained more from lack of use than his fear. He’d give the twin more room to breathe as he settled towards the foot of the bed, pressing a cheek against Nari’s thigh.

It was an overlooked error on someone’s part. There were meant to be guards and footmen guarding the garage. There was meant to be no way for anyone to sneak inside the open building with a gun and get to the eldest twin. But they had. It was an overlooked error that would not be repeated again. Those in charge of security were either missing their life at present or wishing they were – having to deal with the younger twins wrath at his brother laying in a hospital bed with a gunshot wound.      The man who had shot him knew what he was doing and was not in any means messing around. He had gotten three rounds off before he was tackled to the ground and beaten half to death by the guards who had been paying attention. The first bullet had penetrated Yasunari’s right shoulder, the second hitting him in the chest – while the third missed and broke the windshield to a neighboring car. It had happened in an instant, so quick and fast that the CEO was on the ground before he properly knew what was happening.       It was a factor to the mans pain tolerance, shock or simply the fact that those who tended to him before an ambulance arrived that he was conscience until the flashing lights rolled in. With his blood staining the parking garage, his new suit now ruined in more than one way – he had doubt for a moment if he’d survive this. There was an odd air of calm about him, as if his own death was acceptable in this circumstance – and when darkness finally took him, he was oddly at peace. His mind was blank and simple – and rested easy as shock took him and blood loss claimed comprehension.       He had not awoken when transported to the hospital. He had not awoken before or after the surgery to remove the bullet from within his shoulder, thankfully the one through his chest had passed through after cracking one of his ribs. The man was hooked up to wires, breathing assistance – it was at odds how Shiro had crawled into bed with him. But like dogs could wiggle into their owners arms without much effort, he had found a way. The touch to his face had jostled him from his sleep slightly in ways that the poking and prodding had not – but it was the touch to his chest that truly roused him.       A weary blink saw grey hair underneath his line of sight. It was difficult to tilt his head to look at him, so he didn’t – instead just looking down before closing his eyes. It was easy to recognize Shiro. It was simply the reason why he was pressed against him, why Yasunari felt like he had been hit by a truck that confused him. It took a moment to remember the parking garage, to remember the stinging pain in his shoulder and the wet hotness of blood spreading across his abdomen that he realized he had been shot.       Yausnari grunted a little bit in order to draw Shiros attention to him, breathing in a deep breath to his ragged lungs. “Mmn . . ”
Tumblr media
The rise and fall of his chest, though weak, was comforting. If it was possible for him to form some sort of sentence he might have been chanting Nari’s name, but instead he could only voice quiet struggled sounds to let the elder twin know that he was here. The piece of cloth that normally covered his face had been removed after pressing his ear against the other’s chest. Maybe he hoped to be heard better, despite what little he was trying to say. There was a slight noise and a deep rise and fall of the other’s chest. It was more than enough to grab the dog’s attention as he lifted his head. He was careful not to jostle wires or hurt the other, though still managed to hover over him on the tiny hospital bed. Times like these where he wished he could speak, he instead used his hands, though with his current condition he would not be surprised if Nari was unaware what he was trying to say. All that mattered most to Shiro was that he wanted to let him know that he was here for him. Fingers touched lightly along the side of his face, brushing over his nose and mouth as he let his fingers hover over his lips to feel for a breath.  Fingers tapped along the other’s cheek. He was here, he wasn’t going anyway, he tried to show he promised him that. With the scarf removed from the lower half of his face he pressed his forehead somewhat against Nari’s. Once again he tried his best to be gentle, though with the emotion he was feeling, it proved to be difficult. He pressed his face up against Nari’s, nuzzling and grasping onto the other with small choked, whiny sounds, the best he could manage as he tried to speak.

Nari was the only single thought that kept repeating in his mind. He had heard the news through a game of whisper down the lane. He’d been on a business run for Nobu, collecting information for him and it was on his return did he hear what had happened. He did not think to contact Nobu and see if he knew. He must have. Nari was his twin.  Whatever Nobu had him doing would wait now as the dog would hurry to where he should be. Where he should have been when it happened. By Nari’s side. While Shiro was loyal to both twins, more of his time was spent by Nari’s side.  It wasn’t easy to get to his room, simply because no one was allowed near it. Except possibly for Nobu and whomever was with him, but Shiro was alone and he would have to find his own way to Nari’s room. Though it was not difficult for someone who would sneak around for a living. Nari, Nari, Nari. The name continued to repeat its cycle throughout his mind until he saw him. Until he was able to touch him and know for sure he was okay.  Not exactly ideal for someone who was recovering from a gunshot wound, but Shiro did not care. After all no one else was in the room to stop him from climbing into the hospital bed the twin laid in and no one could stop him from reaching out with shaky hands to touch his face, brushing his fingers in his typical greeting when he met with the other. He’d never seen him this way and it was terrifying for Shiro to look at, because Nari was not supposed to be hurt. Neither twin should be hurt. Rough fingers brushed along the others face and jaw, before Shiro would suddenly press his head to Nari’s chest as though to feel each breath he took in reassurance he was still alive.

He was a little surprised when Autumn spoke so harsh and upset to him. But really, it was almost to be expected. To anyone else that is. To Mac, he didn’t get it. He was trying to help. He wanted to help. And Autumn – why was he denying him like that. He was getting angry at him. And Mac found his eyebrows knitting together a bit tighter as he stared back at him, holding onto his wrist a bit tighter and standing up. The ever present reminder of how thin the wrist in his grip was told him that he was doing the right thing.     “Someone has to! You don’t listen when you know what you have to do – so someone has to tell you!” Mac stood up a little bit, but didn’t let go of his hand. He knew Autumn. He knew Autumn and he knew that he was hungry. He was just stubborn and sick and Mac wanted to help. Why couldn’t he understand that? Why?      “Don’t say you can’t – you can! You just haven’t even bothered to try! Maybe you can’t, but you won’t even try because – this is why – damnit!” Mac roughly let go of his arm by basically throwing it out of his grip. He was just trying to help.       “I don’t know how you’re feeling! But I do know what’s going on! And I know you need to eat something! I’m not gonna let you go days without eating – I know you need something to eat. I know you’re hungry. I know! That’s what I do know.” He was basically glaring at him which was counter productive.

He didn’t like when Mac was right. At least he didn’t like it when it was about himself. Without Mac helping him the way he did he’d probably have gone back to his old ways. He’d go back to how he was in high school, skipping meals for days, always drained, struggling to stay awake. He was still too thin, but no where near how he was when he was in school.  “I don’t need to try! I know, okay!” He was frustrated, raising his voice the more he spoke. Mac was glaring at him now and he couldn’t look him in the eye. “I don’t want to talk about it okay?! You can say whatever you want, I don’t care!” Now that he was no longer holding onto his wrist he didn’t want to stick around. Frustrated tears were already starting to form and he had to stop the urge to press his hand to his eyes. “Just leave me alone, Mac!” Autumn quickly walked around the other, hurrying to his room before those stupid angry tears rolled down his face. He shouldn’t have gotten so frustrated or angry with Mac, because he was only trying to help.
