Project #4 – Vanishing and Becoming

I’m calling this Passage of Presence

As I considered vanishing and becoming, I began to think of the conscious of thought and how even when people share the same space they are not necessarily there together in the moment. The colorful clouds add a layer of abstraction to the stormy scene. The heartbeat sound is both calming and terrifying to me and it’s the constant.

Her work deals with the relationship between performer and audience. She explores the use of her body as a medium for her art work. I found her work to be different then many previous explored artists.

Preformance: A Hidden History

I found this article interesting art is highly affect by what is happening in time. Preformance art is live and has a connection befween the performance, location and time. I did not realize that until World War II performance art was not considered its own art form.

Cubitt: Vanishing and Becoming

The author, Cubitt, flows from one story to another relating them all back to one another. All of which are analogies for art forms.I found it interesting the comparison between art, creation, and death. I have never considered these relationships prior to reading this article.

I have personally never truly dealt with video art or true projections,  I have dealt  with photography that light plays such a great factor. The authors claim that light is used in art making; even in his various stories light is important. While a basic part of art making that is often over looked light is critical to the creation of art.
