ok but it's actually wild to me how much easier work is as an adult than as a teenager.

AP Lang, Lit, US History, and World History were WAY harder than literally anything I've done in the past four years working.

I had to do intense research, essay writing, studying.

Now I like, jerk off at home while teleworking and copy paste shit into an excel sheet and I get paid oodles of money to barely do work.

it's astounding.

I'm so sorry to anyone who's a teenager in high school right now.

college is way easier than high school, and working is way easier than college.

Hello all, I’ve been away! I went on an unexpected 24-hour trip to Helsinki and decided to put some photos of the event here. 🤩 🍍 🍹

Seems like it’s that time again…time for me to ramble on and on and on about how I love this silly little language of ours and how Käärijä uses it.

So, if you are not into that kind of things or “not to be taken too seriously” type of song reviews, don’t click keep reading. I’ll held my jatkot-kot-kot-kot there.

Mayday! I like Kot kot! I even like it kind of a lot. The song is structured mess and it feels almost like two or three different songs wrapped together but still in really planned way. Like the structure fits the scene and the feelings of the protagonist of the song.

In my head, I call the different parts singing part, chicken part and rapping part. I still have some reservations about the transitions from the singing part to the chicken part. I kind of wish there was something else than small silence leading/warning me. But I love how they use repeated syllables to lead from the chicken part to rapping part e.g. jatkot-kot-kot -> u-kot-kot (afterparty -> dudes/guys) -> pot-pot-potuttaa (~getting pissed off).

As always, I’m sucker for wordplays and clever/playful use of Finnish language. E.g. word munimaan (~laying eggs) is perfect word to describe inventing/arranging something after kot-koting like a chicken. Nobody would probably use it in real life but everyone still gets the meaning from the context. And the use of the word “kapulaan”. It might be totally coincidental and it’s used only because it rhymes with “laputtaan”, but kapula is slang word for a phone but it’s also a word for a baton used in a relay race (one leg ends and another starts with transferring the baton ~ party ends and afterparty starts using "kapula") and I love that there is at least a small chance that the double meaning is not purely coincidental but intentional.

I also like how they use rhyming words in this song. Words in the singing parts are “softer” like nukkumaan/juhlimaan and in the rapping parts the words are “harder” like saatava/saatana.

And speaking about “saatana”, I’m not against swear words though as a mom of a toddler who repeats new words like a parrot, I try to avoid using them myself. But I think it really is a choice and statement that they used both saatana and perhana several times after getting some heat in the press about swearing in the all age concerts last summer. (Saatana-part is even in perfect place for audience to sing/scream along) And I applaud them for that.

I also really like that he uses both minä and mä in the same song and almost next to each other. For me that also adds to the feeling of the song having more than one layers although both are used in the singing parts.

My absolute favorite lines in the song are “pilkku lyö ku liekit vasten yksinäisen kasvoja, tää klubi on yht tyhjä ku sen katsoja ~ the last call hits like flames against the face of lonely one, this club is as empty as the viewer”. I think those are one of the saddest/moodiest/angstiest/loneliest sentences I’ve heard in a while. I like how the last sentence is flipped to describe how empty the club is using the viewers inner feelings as control point. Like the viewer/protagonist is the emptiest/loneliest thing in the world at that moment. (Those lines also reminded me of one of my all time favorite Finnish songs Levoton tuhkimo by Dingo.)

I like how they used Sonny as a “message voice” first in Ruoska and now in Kot kot. And I really like that they used the “The number you have dialed cannot be reached” both in Finnish and in English. And I like the kind of video game-ish sounds in the background. I’m not biggest fan of the effect used on Ks voice in the singing parts but it does fit the scene sort of.

After the teasers I feared that Kot kot might be one of those songs that I like live, but a song that I would not listen on Spotify after first few listens. I was wrong. It is not my favorite from K not in even close, but it has some really intriguing “features” and I think it is going to be nice song for the album.

I know he used the tag bannedfromumk and based on that I was guessing that kot kot might have been the song they were planning to release in February before choosing to do Ruoska instead. But I’m not really sure anymore. This doesn’t feel like a big single song to me. If anything I get the feeling that the album might be close and Kot kot is teaser of the album rather than big single hit (I don’t really know how to explain what I mean here). But this is all just pure speculation.
