Since there’s a few questions I’ve seen a lot since the announcement, I figured I’d make a quick post to alleviate some concerns. I’ll probably still make a full info post like I did for FoMT later.
Q: Does Same-Sex Marriage Return?
A: Sure does, according to the official Japanese site.
Q: Do we know the bachelor/ettes yet?
A: We know some of them. There’s going to be 10 in all (probably not counting any possible secret candidates like a goddess or anything like that) and here’s who we know so far:
First column is Bridgette (daughter of the animal dealer), Reina (works at the museum), and Rin (shy florist). Second column is Damon (motorcycle/star enthusiast), Emilio (easy going fisherman), and Iori (fancy nature-loving lad from another land).
Q: Is there player character customization?
A: Sure is.
Ooo, even voice customization. Like with SoS FoMT, Japanese preorders are even coming with some additional costumes based on your retailer. This time they look a little familiar though.
I guess being the 25th Anniversary game it makes sense to include a lot of different outfits of popular characters from previous games. Hopefully there’s a lot in the basegame too! In any case, western fans will likely (hopefully) be able to acquire all of these easily, just as they can with the SoSFoMT DLC costumes.
Q: Is this Switch exclusive? I played SoS FoMT on PC.
A: For the time being, yes. It’s possible a PC port will happen later, as it was several months after FoMT’s reveal that they announced the PC version, but for now nothing has been announced.
Q: How much can we customize? Do we know the full extent yet?
A: It’s not completely clear yet. At the very least, it looks like the farm and wilderness areas are the player’s to change, but the town doesn’t show any signs of customization yet. That said, from the press release, it does sound like it will at least react to your achievements in some way as you progress in reclaiming your farm from the wilderness and rebuilding from the ground up.
Q: Where are the character portraits and heart meters?
A: Not completely sure on this myself, but it looks like portraits are completely absent. The missing heart meter could simply be turned off (as you can do this in FoMT) or it could be that the scenes we’re seeing are when you’re only just meeting people.

Makers are back!
A camera has been spotted among the items the player has access to. Could be a tool, like it was in Animal Parade.

25 Black-owned bookstores you can support right now
while i don’t claim to be a “book blogger” by any account (more of a cranky publishing-person blogger most days), i know a lot of people have followed me through my book posts, so i’m taking advantage of that captive audience to boost these bookstores. shop them through their own websites and if you’re local, look into curbside pickup to minimize shipping costs and overhead. okay that’s all thanks bye stay safe.
