Reading Memoir of Rati now that it’s available in English and it’s already so different just in 1 chapter. I’ll have this book done by ep 2 and be able to compare I cannot wait

(Edit: the book has been completed and I absolutely adored it!)

Gonna keep editing this post with differences I find interesting. Book spoilers will be under the cut vvv

- First of all, Rati and Thee tell each other who they are at the temple festival. There’s no hiding status. Thee has his servant with him in plain sight and he is the one that goes after the thief.

- The coin pouch is what goes missing in the book, not the locket. (I get it tho, diving into a pond shirtless with the handsome man who took you on a temple festival date is way more romantic)

- They don’t watch any Muay Thai fighting in the book. Just eat food and listen to singing. Thee buys all the treats for Rati.

- To quote the book: “Though he loved reading. He wasn’t one to write things down, so he didn’t keep a journal. Instead, he took out a golden locket, opened it to see his mother’s face, and smiled widely.” Rati is just talking to his locket the whole time, not writing in a journal like the show. It’s kinda like “lay on the bed kicking my feet and talking to a photo” vibes tho so I dig it more. (No, literally! >> “Rati smiled at the photo, lying on his back and hugging the locket to his chest. ‘He’s a very handsome man, Mother.’”)

- Thee just sends over a basket of food to Rati the next morning with a letter telling him he’ll wait until 8pm to take him back to the temple festival

- Ohhhhhhh Rati’s “uncle” is a BIIIITCH and I hope he’s absolutely terrible in the show too. The way Rati went OFF on him 🤌���🤌🏽

- Thee does not study French until way after Rati is done teaching

- GMMTV, I BEG of you, please include Rati belly flopping buck-ass naked into the river as his sarong floats delicately into the river

- oh it’s SO OVER for me if Thee takes Rati to a waterfall

- OHHOHOHOOO THEE YOU GOTTA COMPETE WITH A PRINCE FOR RATI’S AFFECTION

((9 chapters and 3 epilogues left, this is a fun book!!! I’m very excited for seeing how they adapt this! Aou and Boom’s characters don’t exist in the book btw))

Thinking about you saying ka is queer vernacular hmmm

There are actually several reasons a male speaker might us "ka" as his polite particle. The most common one we see in the BL world is when the speaker is trying to flirt and I actually think that's what First is doing here. (Not saying he's not queer. Just saying I don't think this is a good example of it.) Male speakers will also sometimes use "ka" when speaking to children as a way to soften their tone.

The reason it seems so significant in Great's case is that he defaults to "ka" rather than the more masculine "krup" and this is most common amongst males in the queer community. In contrast, First defaults to "krup" but may use "ka" incidentally. Just as an example, this is literally the first video I found in Great's tag and he uses "ka" at least three times. It took me a long time to realize he was doing this though because I usually only see him at professional events with Inn and therefore assumed he was only using "ka" as a way to flirt, but apparently that's just his baseline.

But thank you for sending this to me because I don't think I've ever heard First use "ka" before and it was quite a treat. He should flirt with Khao more often.

Ik nothing about inn I haven't watched any shows (I'm emfkjd mains) but I am fascinated by the lore in your inn posts who is this man what is his life I need to know more gimme a primer pls and shows to watch I'm mesmerized by the energy

Oh, Anon, I would love to! Full disclaimer: I only became a fan of Inn after he joined GMMTV so everything that happened before then, I've had to piece together through sketchy Twitter posts that may or may not be accurate and an obscene amount of Instagram stalking. But these are things as I understand them:

In 2022, Inn starred in a BL called "The Miracle of Teddy Bear" where he played a teddy bear that comes to life and falls in love with its owner. It's a fantastic BL and I do recommend it (more on that below), but it's long. 16 episodes, an hour and a half each, and surprisingly heavy subject matter for what sounds like it should be a light-hearted drama. Inn did a fantastic job—so much so that it's still hard for me to see him as anything other than an anthropomorphic teddy bear—but while the show was airing, rumors started to surface that Inn had a boyfriend (which he did).

I don't know the specifics, but the general fan perception seems to be that Channel 3 was not happy with these rumors and blamed Inn for them, which led to a rift with his management. Because of that, he left Channel 3 and moved over to GMMTV instead where he knew upon signing that he would be paired with Great, who he was friends with during university. You can listen to Great tell the whole story of how they came to be paired here (with some amusing asides from Inn).

And now for the juicy stuff...

This, my friends, is Inn's boyfriend/husband/business partner, Tie Kuhapremkit. If you couldn't tell, he's a model by trade.

Are you starting to see why I'm obsessed with them now?

I have no clue when Inn and Tie started dating—they were liking each others photos on Instagram all the way back in 2016—but what I do know is that they opened Holiday Pastry together in 2022 and started wearing matching $13k Cartier Love rings that same year. Here's some photos of them wearing the rings at their new bakery launch earlier this month.

I have not yet found a single picture of them alone together. Even in group photos, they are careful to have at least one person between them, and that lack of photos is, in itself, conspicuous. They own multiple businesses together. The fact that there are no photos of them is honestly impressive. (I did find a Twitter user who documents all their Lovestagrams if you want to do a deep dive.)

Inn obviously has ample motivation to keep his relationship private, but I think the reason I've become so obsessed with him and Tie is because it's such a great representation of what this industry could become if fans weren't so toxic. Not only does Inn get an IRL boyfriend, but he also gets an on-screen boyfriend who he gets paid to flirt with. And his two boyfriends get along!

It’s all just so perfect. But unfortunately, fans are toxic and one of the most often cited reasons for GreatInn’s lack of popularity is that fact that since Inn has a boyfriend and people are aware of it, they can’t delude themselves into thinking he's with Great, which takes some of their fun away. To those people, I just say: Where is your imagination? Because GreatInn do more fanservice than every other GMMTV CP combined. Here is Inn telling everyone that he and Great practiced their NC scenes on his kitchen counter. And here is Great making sure you know that Inn has a big penis too.

As for the kids, you can watch this video of Inn explaining it himself. The kids are the biological children of his housekeeper but she was going to send them away, so Inn offered to take them in instead. Obviously, I don't know their exact arrangement, but Inn does refer to the kids as his. Like just look at these pictures. I’m melting. 

Sorry for the machine translation on the second one. It's mostly accurate except his son's names is Saifah, which means "thunder." So he's saying Saifah doesn't cry. (And also, yes. Poon has liked every single one of Inn's pictures as far back as I've scrolled—which is far. Do with that information what you will.)

Saifah and Fahsai's mom also recently had a third child that seems to be living at Inn's house as well.

In addition to all of that, Inn is also just a character in his own right. He’s sassy and spoiled and I watch every single variety show or interview he appears in because it’s always a great time. From pole dancing on Live House to being bitter it's "GreatInn" instead of "InnGreat" to complaining that Great gave him the wrong number of roses on Valentine's Day. He's just an amazing human and I am obsessed with him.

As for which shows you should watch, definitely check out WandeeGoodday. It's a GMMTV show and highlights his chemistry with Great really well. I would also recommend The Miracle of Teddy Bear—especially if you're a fan of The Eclipse because the original stories were written by the same author. However, Miracle of Teddy Bear deals with some heavy topics including child abuse so please make sure you're in the right headspace for that.

Inn and Great are currently halfway through filming their second show together, Memoir of Rati, and they're making quick time so I imagine it'll probably be on air within the next three months.

Do you also think that gmmtv is actively mistreating FK? Not posting their milestones after they happened (f.e. let's try video views) while posting other milestones that happened after, not posting their schedule even though they have one and they post all others, them getting so little events (KT once obviously being taken back that a company wanted to book him since a long time and tried), when they get harassed not reacting (for Gemini for example they reacted) etc.

I do not think GMMTV is actively mistreating any of their actors. If anything, they’ve just got too many of them and things are falling through the cracks, but they are highly incentivized to promote all of their actors equally because when their artists do well, GMMTV gets paid more. If FK aren’t having events it’s either because they aren’t getting offers or they don’t want to accept them. I guarantee you that FK aren’t getting offers that GMMTV is then refusing for them. Why would they do that? That’s lost income for the company.

As for the harassment, GMMTV cannot intervene unless someone is doing something illegal. Thailand has very generous defamation laws so in Gemini’s case, they were able to sue because someone was accusing him of doing drugs. I don’t think the lawsuit had anything to do with the dating rumors but regardless, Gemini had to want that. GMMTV sued on behalf of Gemini, not on behalf of the company. I highly doubt either First or Khaotung are interested in going to court to talk about their dating life publicly just to subdue a couple of trolls.

I think one of the issues here is that a lot of people focus all of their attention on only one pair so they don’t realize that literally every other fandom is having these same arguments every day. Just today, the EM fandom is all in a tizzy because GMMTV didn’t include their Japanese fanmeet on some list it should have been on. Every single fandom thinks their ship is being mistreated. And all of them are wrong except for the GL fans.

Another problem is that people take what one person on the internet says as gospel without doing their own due diligence and confirming those facts for themselves. For instance, in the case of GMMTV not posting FK’s event yesterday, someone claimed that GMMTV had posted all of their events for the next week except that one, but that’s just not true. GMMTV posts those updates daily and always has. Just this morning, they were posting additional events for the 6th through the 8th. I imagine the FK event announcement is coming. Fans are throwing a tantrum over nothing and it makes both FK and GMMTV look bad to the brand.

My takeaway is always this: First and Khaotung are grown ass men perfectly capable of standing up for themselves. If they do not feel they are getting fair treatment from the company, they are welcome to either find events themselves or leave. They do not need strangers on the internet creating chaos in their name as that is only going to hurt their reputation in the long run. Stop infantilizing them and just trust that they know what’s best for themselves much better than we do.
