My oldest, Michael, just moved into his first apartment on his own (he’s had roommates for years), my youngest, Ashton, and her husband Hunter, are closing on their first home on the 30th, and my daughter Kalyn, and her husband Derek, are moving back to Tulsa from Colorado next month. It’s literally been since August that I’ve had my dining room even partially cleared! All of the wedding decor and gifts that were being shipped to Ashton here were piling up, plus I’ve been using the dining room as a packing room since moving Trevor upstairs so it’s been a mess. I just haven’t had the time or a chance to straighten up. The dining room in this house is the main traffic area…you have to pass through it to get to other rooms and it is also a sort of entryway as it opens to my side yard where everyone but the postman comes in. I finally got ‘almost’ everything out…(crammed into my office that I now have to turn sideways to enter😂). Hi everyone! We were at the Dr. again today. Trevor has been about the same, though one good thing is that he has been keeping some food down a little better. He gained 4 pounds since his last visit with this PCP a couple of weeks ago. When all this started he weighed about 175-185 lbs and got down to 131. He is about 6’2”. He was literally malnourished at this point. I don’t recall the names of the medications he was prescribed to help but they seem to be improving his ability to hold food down to some degree (he throws up a LOT of bile). We’re thankful he’s gained a few pounds though. He is scheduled to have an EMG (?) to help figure out what might be causing the neuropathy in his feet. I think there is another test or two our Dr wants to do and if they come back inconclusive he said he wants Trevor to go to Mayo Clinic. Trevor is going to try to go back to work next week, at least to the extent he can- but he’ll be pretty limited as to what he is able to do. He had another brain and cervical MRI last week with the Neurologist and it was normal. So that is good. Overall, and for the time being, we feel more hopeful that we are finally getting somewhere. As for Shawn, there are some extenuating circumstances I won’t go into, but two weeks after his surgery he was back in the ER, with Sepsis, and required a 2nd emergency surgery. He was then admitted a 3rd time to the hospital and put on two strong antibiotics via IV and PICC line. He’ll be on these for 9 weeks total. He’s out of the hospital now and doing better but still has a lot of swelling and pain in his knee where the main abscesses were. My family and I really appreciate your prayers and all of the messages we’ve received. Thank you so much. I don’t think I’ve ever been more tired in my life than these past few months. Life has been more than chaotic! I’m at the ER again with Trevor. He has been throwing up a lot of bile all weekend and has a tremendous stabbing pain in his feet. He required a wheelchair for the wedding…too weak to walk but a few steps here and there. He can barely even get up to get to the bathroom. He’s still not able to keep solids or liquids down and has lost so much weight; at least 45 pounds since this began with his head injury in June. He looks thin and frail. His brain doesn’t seem to be communicating with his GI system. I’m really hoping they admit him into the hospital again. My Grandchildren both went to Urgent Care this morning. Deanna has bronchitis and my son Jonah and DIL Kas were told to take Kennedy to Pediatric ER immediately for RSV. They are there now. Shawn is still very swollen in his right leg and foot, and in a tremendous amount of pain as well…more than I’ve ever seen him in in the nearly 40 years we’ve been together. He and Trevor were not able to make it through the wedding reception due to feeling so unwell. Quick update on Shawn, Trevor and wedding. Tonight is Ashton’s rehearsal dinner and her wedding is tomorrow. 👰🏻‍♀️ 💍 💒 Shawn required emergency surgery on his leg when I took him to the ER. The Orthopedic surgeon first believed that a 2nd surgery a day or two later would have to be performed, but my understanding now is that they think the antibiotics he is being given will treat the infection without an additional operation. So that’s good! He is temporarily out of the hospital as of an hour or so ago to attend the rehearsal dinner and Ashton’s wedding tomorrow. She and Hunter got their wedding license earlier today. Trevor was released from the hospital Sunday with a partial diagnosis of Post Concussive Syndrome and Gastroparesis for the GI issues he developed after his head injury. We don’t know if his head injury has to do with the numerous other issues he’s having or not. We are in the waiting room now, waiting to be seen by a Neurologist. Trevor is 6’2” and weighed 175 lbs when this began in June. As of Sunday he is down to 136 lbs. We are still seeking and praying for answers and a full healing. He misses working and having a social life and just being himself. I had to share a pic of the niche over my fireplace. I haven’t posted any “pretty” pics in a while! I sold the huge Turkey platter I had hanging there and replaced it with one that is part of my 3 and 4 color Transferware collection. ANOTHER PRAYER REQUEST 🙏🏻 Let me first say that I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of comments, prayers, DM’s and messages you all have sent me as a result of my previous post. I am working my way through reading them. Truly, thank you for your kind words, suggestions and prayers. Only a few hours or so after my previous post asking for prayers for my son Trevor and family, I had to take my husband to the ER. His right leg is extremely swollen from the ankle up to his groin. The leg feels so hot to touch and is so tight that it looks as if it will burst open. The swelling expanded into his hip and buttock as we waited to be seen. His condition worsened as we sat in the waiting room to the point he could not walk or stand on both feet. The Dr. suspects Sepsis and immediately began two broad spectrum antibiotics. X-ray, ultrasound and then contrast CT scan have revealed a huge abscess in his knee as well as fluid collecting in his calf and thigh. I am not clear if the Dr. meant these were also abscesses or something else. The Dr. is consulting with the hospitalist and surgeons to determine whether or not he needs surgery but regardless, my husband is being admitted to the hospital. So again, I am asking for your continued prayers. I’m feeling overwhelmed, mentally and physically exhausted and just plain afraid. I have always found it arduous to talk about personal problems or to ask for help, but as I mentioned previously, this has been the most difficult year and all I know to do is ask for prayer and positive thoughts.
