Hyperfixating on a show that never existed is amazing and awful in equal proportions

Amazing because you can imagine anything and technically there's nothing canon to prove you wrong,, awful because there's nothing canon to prove you wrong (and way less people know about it)

Tedros and Hort...

- Must grudgingly put up with each other b/c of Agatha and Sophie

- Have ruthless competitions as to who can buy the girls better gifts

- slowly grow to respect each other over the years

- Hort being the terrible uncle who takes Tedros and Agatha’s children gallivanting off into the woods

- “Pretty prince”

- “Dog boy”

- Have more in common than they’d ever think, but as if they’d ever stop to consider it

- Actually, the two are the best battle pair ever seen fighting but refuse to work together often (because they argue and get distracted and nearly decpatitated) 

- Both loyal to a fault

- Hort is like Agatha’s best guy friend so there’s always that “small” element of jealousy that Tedros will never quite shake

- Similarly, Hort will never not be jealous of Tedros for first having Sophie’s affections

- Agatha watches them bicker with a completely deadpan expression

- Hort occasionally gives up and begs Tedros for love advice, which he does not receive, because, lets be honest, Tedros is the worst person to give love advice

Hey writers? Here’s a tip: If you want to write a character with an identity that you don’t share and don’t know much about? Put in at least a couple of hours of research before doing anything else. Don’t immediately send an ask the script-x blogs or writingwithcolor or any of the other great resources out there. Start with a google search. Start with a careful search of the blog you want to use as a resource. Look for open forums for people who identify as x.

By the time you come ask a real person to spend time and effort teaching you about an identity, you should know a lot. At the bare minimum, you should:

Know what defines that identity. Not just current standards, but definitions across history. How do members of x define themselves? How are they defined legally? Socially? How do these definitions vary from what your original assumption was?

Understand basic cultural context. Find a description of what it’s like to be an x. Find five more. Compare and contrast.

Recognize common stereotypes. It’s incredibly easy to find lists of stereotypes online. Familiarize yourself with them now, and keep them on hand while editing.

Know names and work of several modern x activists. Follow some of them on social media. Listen to what they say. 

Have a bullshit meter. If an identity exists, there will be misinformation about it. With practice, you can get better at distinguishing realistic depictions of what life is like, hyperbole, minority experiences, and trolling. Anyone giving you advice may be wrong. Everyone giving you advice can only speak from a limited perspective. Don’t dismiss lived experience out of hand, but do think critically before taking everyone on their word.

Hmm YES this is why I’m actually worried about the film

okay for you guys who aren’t on instagram; soman’s revelation on his live that Agatha was a bit taller than Tedros has caused utter anarchy and everyone who thought otherwise has got weirdly upset and people are insisting that:

- it’s an April Fools joke

- he said they were the same height 

- agatha’s clumps give her extra height

- the book covers and illustrations (which soman did not draw) show tedros being taller

and like, it’s OBVIOUS he just made it up on the fly but the fandom’s in flames. this tells me that no one will be able to cope with a damn thing the film changes.
