i know time doesn’t exist in the 911 universe but since eddie begins came out in april 2020, we can reasonably assume that eddie secretly added buck to his will and then almost immediately moved into buck’s loft and shared a bed with him for months of quarantine. he’s kind of the best guy of all time

while we're talking about older queer/trans cinema, a shoutout to Different For Girls (1996) starring Steven Mackintosh (as Kim) and Rupert Graves as her cis boyfriend (who you'll recognise as Lestrade from Sherlock)

anyway obvious caveats for a trans woman played by a cis actor, but this is a tender and understated british film with a lot of humour and (after some police brutality because hey, you can't do London Metropolitan police rep without portraying the reality) it has a happy ending, big surprise for trans 90s cinema

also Miriam Margolyes being kickarse as usual as Kim's boss

I really don't understand how people can compartmentalize supporting HP and JKR in the name of separating the art from the artist. Chamber of Secrets was one of my comfort movies and I feel guilty watching the dvd I've had since 2004 that I know for a fact she's not making anything out of anymore. I took my copies down from the main shelf on my bookcase because I don't even want to donate them and end up getting someone into the series. She's actively harming people. How can you just be okay with it for the sake of nostalgia? This is madness.

I love love love reddit ask buddie fics. Before I watched the show but knew of the ship through edits and clips I immediately thought of nightly taken 'am I gay' quizzes or one of them furiously typing up reddit asks in r/suddenlygay or r/aita about their best friend (why do I hate all their partners, am I now homophobic? Why do I keep sabotaging their dates? Help my son won't stop making jokes about me and my bestfriend as a couple?). I still think this fits so well now that I've seen the show. Also so many good grindr/catfishing buddie fics out there, I might make a fic rec compilation soon if I get my bookmarks properly tagged for once
