It's the safest mode of travel, they said and as proof they compare fatalities per kilometres travelled to other modes of travel such as ships, trains, cars and motorbikes! How unfair! I double dare them to compare fatalities per take-off to the above mentioned modes of travel! Even if they do, people can't take flight from flights because they don't have a choice!

The #Boeing787DreamlinerDisaster in Ahmedabad on 12.6.25 could've been prevented because after being notified by Boeing that some company employees failed to complete specific inspections on some 787 Dreamliners but reported the checks as having been completed, essentially falsifying inspection records, the Federal Aviation Administration had opened a formal investigation in May 2024 but nothing came of it!

Though the exact number of parts in a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner isn't publicly disclosed, it's known that the production process involves millions of components, and Boeing had faced scrutiny over quality control and the use of defective parts in the past!

Unless the airline industry accepts the fact that air travel is the most dangerous means of travel and takes stringent safety precautions, precious lives will continue to be lost!

Everytime a tournament gets over, boring people ask fans,"The winners won their trophies, all the participants got their prize moneys, what did you get?!"! That used to be a winning question! Now we fans have become,"coaches" of fantasy teams and as the players sweat it out in the real world, our fantasy players earn points for us in the virtual world! We get to test our knowledge against the best while learning more about our favourite sport! And most importantly, we learn from our mistakes! When a coach's fantasy team performs well consistently, it can't be because of luck alone, there's a science to it!

In the #UnionOfEuropeanFootballAssociationsChampionsLeague2024To25 fantasy league I'm in the top 3%, 4% and 9% in the world, India and Leverkusen Club respectively! This was my first season and I know that there's plenty of room for improvement!

Kohli needed 18 years to lift the I.P.L. Trophy! What a loser! By the way, his feat is an inspiration for infertile men and women all over the world! Kohli is more concerned about his club winning than his country! Remember the time he wept like a wh0re after losing the One Day International World Cup final to Australia?! He had batted like his wife, Anushka Sharma in that match! And the only reason he won an O.D.I. World Cup was because he happened to be a member of a great team led by M.S. Dhoni!

But public memory is short, if not non-existent! India's former World Cup winner and coach Ravi Shastri was right when he said that Twenty20 cricket is,"Mickey Mouse Cricket"! That would make the public, kids and cricketers like Kohli, Mickey Mouse!

I expect Paris Saint-Germain to win the #UnionOfEuropeanFootballAssociationsChampionsLeague2024To25 because they're a more solid team than Inter Milan which let in half a dozen goals against Barcelona in the semi-final! The only reason they're in the final is because Barcelona's defence is worse! But Inter Milan had knocked out Bayern Munich in the final's venue! Being more familiar with the Allianz Arena might work in Inter Milan's favour! Wait, didn't Paris Saint-Germain beat Arsenal easily in the semi-final?! Isn't this ample proof that they're the team in form! If you're a connoisseur of football, today's final is the best football this year has to offer! It doesn't matter what players' achievements are on paper, the teams which performed on the football pitch when it mattered are the ones which find themselves in the final!

Will P.S.G. win its first Champions League Trophy or will Inter Milan lift the trophy it was close to in 2023?! Football doesn't get bigger or better than this! Be there or be square!

Now that,'Operation Sindoor' is over and Pakistan has been taught a lesson, which going by history it'll forget after a few years, it's time for some #retrospection! Retrospection is a good thing! We get to know ourselves better and where we stand in the grand scheme of things! And once we've identified our strengths and weaknesses, we can aim to improve by getting out of our comfort zones!

India has fought and won wars against Pakistan in 1948, 1965, 1971 and 1999 is what we've all heard! But how can India claim victory in the 1948 war when it actually lost 72,935 km² to Pakistan?! This region, now called Pakistan occupied Kashmir(P.o.K.) by India is almost the size of Assam!

And India lost Aksai Chin, a strategic region in Ladakh to China in the 1962 Sino-Indian War! By the way this region spread over 37,244 km² is almost the size of Kerala!

Combined, P.o.K. and Aksai Chin is almost the size of Telengana! And how much foreign land did India annex since independence?! Zero!

I'm not saying that India should go to war against Pakistan and China to reclaim lost territories! What's lost is lost! But India can put these neighbours in a fix by,'promoting democracy'! Wouldn't an independent country called Balochistan look good in Pakistan?! And why is the world's 2nd most populous nation ruled by a dictator?!

In both these countries, there are elements who want to break free! All they need are weapons and training! Surely the 3rd largest economy in the world can show them how it's done!

On 19.5.25, I switched on #AsianetNews at 11:30pm to watch,'Gulf News' and instead I was held hostage to a ringside view of a,'breaking news' story about a young mother who most probably threw her 3-year-old daughter into a river and the consequential search for the girl! A missing girl, etc. are also,'hours-long breaking news stories'! I'm not being insensitive here but in a state like Kerala with a population of 3.6111 crores, such unhappy incidents are bound to occur, on a daily basis!

The real culprit here is the Asianet News Channel which is taking advantage of the viewers' empathy by sensationalising certain news stories so that viewers' heartstrings are pulled at, thereby gluing them to their channel and the advertisements that follow!

Then again, there are those who beg for funds because they've been kicked out of their homes for not being able to repay loans! Living beyond one's means is a characteristic not confined to Keralites!

Absence of ethics among the fourth estate has far-reaching consequences and is a matter of concern which needs to be addressed immediately! The viewers deserve a break from sensational news in the guise of,'breaking news'!

Football is a funny game, take your eyes off the ball and the fun never stops! And this wasn't more evident than during the #UnionOfEuropeanFootballAssociationsChampionsLeague2024To25 semi-final 2nd leg between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal!

It all started with Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly touching the ball with his fingers inside the Arsenal penalty area after a shot by P.S.G's Moroccan player Hakimi! But no one saw it, not even Hakimi! Later the Video Assistant Referee alerted the referee on the pitch about the handball after which a penalty kick was given to P.S.G.! In the meantime, Hakimi was rebuked and possibly racially abused by the team management for not seeing what happened in front of him! And in the meantime of that meantime Arsenal's cunning Spanish coach Mikel Arteta did a double substitution which included Myles Lewis-Skelly! Everyone thought that the teenager was substituted because he was overwhelmed by the occasion! But the truth is that he had collected a yellow card earlier during the match and a handball inside the Arsenal penalty area warranted a second yellow card or a red card which means that Arsenal should've played with 10! And the other substitution was a decoy!

Hakimi, being too upset to take the penalty kick, Vitinha was chosen! He decided to play the waiting game! But unfortunately for him, Arsenal's Raya also decided to play the same game! In the end, Raya saved Vitinha's weak shot!

But Arsenal still couldn't turn the tide in their favour because P.S.G. was too good for them! P.S.G. had better get street smart-smart soon because Inter Milan is a whole different proposition! It's interesting to note that while P.S.G. has run out of English opposition to eliminate, Inter Milan has gotten into the habit of knocking out league champions!

Arsenal had their chance at home and they blew it by losing to Paris Saint-Germain! Now they have to win by 2 away goals to enter the final of the #UnionOfEuropeanFootballAssociationsChampionsLeague2024To25 and that will be a huge task against the team which has developed the best defence in the tournament! An early goal here and bit of luck there might tilt the scales in Arsenal's favour though! A textbook match is on the cards!

Except Liverpool, the teams which finished 1 to 4 after the league phase of #UnionOfEuropeanFootballAssociationsChampionsLeague2024To25 are in the semi-finals! And Paris Saint-Germain, the conqueror of Liverpool, which was in the first position after the league phase, is sitting pretty needing only a draw against Arsenal at home to enter the final! This means that U.E.F.A's,"coefficient" for the clubs based on their performances, isn't a complete failure!

Coming to today's match, Inter Milan and Barcelona are burdened with weak defences! In spite of their recent weak performances, I expect Inter Milan to go through because they're playing at home and Barcelona's away record isn't very good!

Barcelona, which is the best attacking side in #UnionOfEuropeanFootballAssociationsChampionsLeague2024To25 will be hosting Inter Milan, the best defensive side in the tournament! Classic matches can't get any better! Barcelona's Rapinha and Yamal will prove more than a handful for Inter Milan while the latter's Lautaro Martinez is on a goal scoring spree having found the net 7 times in the last 5 matches of this tournament! I expect Inter Milan to scrape through today!

Paris Saint-Germain are the dark horses of #UnionOfEuropeanFootballAssociationsChampionsLeague2024To25 and Dembélé is their knight in shining armour! Their defence let in 4 goals in the quarter-finals and this should be a cause of worry for them when they take on Arsenal which scored 5 in the quarter-finals! Arsenal's Saka will most probably make Paris Saint-Germain sick!

Because the semi-final first leg will be played at home, I expect Arsenal to win but I wouldn't be surprised if Paris Saint-Germain proves me wrong! Win or lose, one thing's for sure and that is that this match will definitely transport me to football heaven!
