sera listened to her explanation around the use of music in speech therapy. she smiled softly, her head tilted a bit as she took in the information. peopleâs lives always seemed to interest her: the work that they did or the way that their mind made sense of the world. âso ⊠whatâd you almost break?â she joked curiously while taking a peak at the albumâs cover. âand more importantly how big is your collection?â usually, anyone who bought vinyls had quiet a few. in fact, she was getting some as a gift to one of her friends.
nasrin thinks that she probably sounds like a complete dork talking about speech therapy but she figures if anyone would get the kind of thing sheâs talking about, itâs sera. besides, itâs not like she didnât hear a ton of medical talk from when they worked together. âsolar power by lorde.â she shows the album cover to sera, thanking her lucky stars that it didnât actually break. âoof, this is gonna take a while to think about...i wanna say...â nasrin thought about her vinyl wall, her bookshelf that should have books with vinyls, and every artist sheâs ever liked that she bought a vinyl for. âi wanna say around 40...?â
#( threads. )#( ft. seraphina )#idk if that's a realistic amount i only have one vinyl and no record player sdjfkdsj

GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE seemed like a small thing but for nasrin, it was one of her favorite things. especially when she was planning her dinner. cooking and baking had always been things that nasrin enjoyed and as an adult, it was one of the best ways to unwind after a long day at work. sheâs looking through the fruits for her next smoothie when she hears an excuse me. she lifts up her head and sees sosa. â hm. i would go with orange. i donât like to think iâm very sour, unless you catch me on a bad day. but it also depends on what youâre making. â
for:Â @nasrinfmâ where: the grocery store
HE COULD EASILY BE DOING THIS ON THE CLOCK, getting paid to work on new and fresh ideas to sell at the bakery. but thereâs something about home baking that feels different than at the bread basket. it probably has something to do with his homebody nature. heâs got ideas swirling in his head and itâs clear heâs having a hard time making a decision on which idea to go with. sosa glances up at the nearest person, clearing his throat to speak. â excuse me ?? â always so polite, sosaâs quick to continue on, â lemme get your opinion on something. â he nods to the citruses in front of him. â would you say youâre more of an orange or a lemon person ?? â why make your own decisions when you can get someone else to do it for you ??

âiâd love that,â she replied, the others gentle nature already making merrick feel a little more comfortable. the truth was, nasrin probably reminded her of her own sister - and the ache and loneliness of being estranged with her was really starting to weigh down on her. âthough i already had a couple while i was wrapping them up - taste testing, making sure i hadnât poisoned them or anything.â
she followed the other into her home, placing the tupperware container full of cookies down only to open them and grab one for each of them to test out. âso, fill me in - tell me some drama in your life, so i can stop thinking about all the drama in my own. anything juicy happening in your life?â
âcome on in.â nasrin opens the door further to allow merrick to come into her home and leads them both into the living room. âoh, taste testing is essential. plus, i donât think youâre capable of poisoning anything. youâre like a master baker.â nasrin took the cookie that merrick had offered her and nibbled on it, wanting to savor it. âsee? master baker, this is delicious.âÂ
nasrin took the container and placed it on the coffee table across from the couch, sitting down and patting for merrick to sit next to her. âoh, uh...i mean, i hate to disappoint you on the drama front but itâs mostly just work, listening to music, baking, sometimes iâll get real crazy and watch a movie. what about you?â

âouch!â noah laughs and presses a hand to where nasrin hit him. âyouâre strong,â he smiles. with a nod, he makes a mental note to listen to that album. he hasnât had the chance, or enough interest in getting into lorde for some reason. he does love lana del rey, though. so he might check it out. âisnât jack antonoff lordeâs producer?â he asks. not even thinking that nasrin could not know who the guy is. to noah, everyone is informed about the music industry. âah⊠some pop albums and liam gallagher,â he says, looking down at his cds. âiâm planning on shipping them back to seattle. i have a big ass collection back home.â
âwell keep that in mind next time you almost send me into cardiac arrest! my fists are named harry and niall and they mean business!â she said with a laugh. although she was joking, of course she would never seriously punch someone, he did nearly give her a heart attack. âyeah. he also does taylor swift, lana del rey, basically everyone at this point i think.â it was nice to talk about music, something nasrin didnât get to do much now that she was working full time with her own practice. âliam gallagher. thatâs wonderwall, right?â she nods. âwell, iâd love to compare collections if you have a list. iâm sure theyâre vastly different.âÂ

she laughed, nodding in agreement. seraâs had her far share of falls â mostly when she was intoxicated. however, every so often her own foot would seem to drag too low to the ground causing her to trip on herself. this often happened whenever she wore crocs; her second favorite shoe. seraphinaâs head titled to the side while listening to nasrin talk. a smile washing over her lips at the thought. âaw, thatâs really fucking cool.â the decision made sense to her, working in the medical field was far more stable of a job than most career paths. it was the reason that sera choose nursing. she always wanted something to fall back. âyou use it with the kids too, right? i know a lot of childrenâs programs use it too. i donât blame âem. song lyrics are too easy to learn.â
nasrin was still embarrassed over the whole thing. she usually prided herself in keeping everything under control when it comes to her emotions now that she was an adult but some old habits die hard and this mustâve been one of them. she smiled and nodded as sera spoke. âyeah, sometimes. if they need something to practice with, they like to use the lyrics of their favorite songs. we donât really use it too often as we like to focus more on things like tongue placement but itâs really useful to get them engaged and stuff.â

grace had finally reached the best part of her daily run : the walk home. she was just about to stop into threes to get herself a celebratory matcha latte when she saw nasrin through the window of the record factory next door . she knew she couldnât resist at least going in to say hello , but she had to stop and get herself something to drink first , and figured nasrin would probably like something too . sheâd just walked out with both of the drinks , her own matcha latte in one hand and nasrinâs drink of choice in the other only to open the door right as nasrin hit the floor . â oh my god , are you okay ?! â she immediately set the drinks down on the check - out counter , rushing to lend a hand and help nasrin to her feet . â i mean i know i was trying to surprise you , but i didnât think youâd react like this â she laughed , trying to make light of the situation in hopes itâd make nasrin feel less embarrassed . â i saw you through the window and wanted to come say hey , i even brought your favorite from threesâ she smiled , her head nodding towards the drinks waiting for them . â what were you on your way to buy ? âÂ
nasrin was so embarrassed about her clumsiness that she hid her head in shame for a few moments. although, if there was anyone who wouldnât make fun of her, it was grace. that had always been the case. so if anything, nasrin was glad that it was grace that saw her at this moment. still, that didnât stop her from sheepishly laughing and feeling like the biggest idiot in the universe. â iâm okay, iâm okay. â nasrin picks up the vinyl and stands up, waving her free hand dismissively. â i just hope that this bad boy is okay. â nasrin lets out a laugh, this time itâs a little less sheepish and more relieved than anything. â oh my god, youâre my hero. thatâs just the pick me up that i needed ! â nasrin gladly takes the drink from grace and lets out a satisfied hum after taking a sip. â i was getting the vinyl for solar power by lorde. â she shows grace the vinyl that she dropped. â lorde, forgive me. â

âmaybe,â noah chuckles and bends down and picks up the vinyl. he pats it and looks at her. âitâs broken,â his eyes are dead serious, but thereâs a small smile creeping up to his face. âiâm messing with you, itâs fine,â he grins and hands it back to nasrin. itâs nice to see her clumsiness outside of the library, where they mostly spent their time studying. well, she was tutoring him. maybe heâs seen her twice? twice after he turned his project in. âwhat are you getting?â he asks in the middle of the store.Â
when she hears that the vinyl is broken, her eyes go wide and she bites her lip to stop from freaking out. there is another shit uttered and then the sigh of relief when he says that itâs fine. she playfully punches him on the shoulder. âjesus, you almost gave me a heart attack!â she says, a breathless laugh slipping out of her mouth. âsolar power by lorde. what about you? you getting something?â

she gasped, a hand hovering over her jaw drop as nasrin tripped. swiftly, sera went to help her despite the small laugh trying to slip from her. âyâokay?â she asked sweetly. the duo always seemed to run into each other in the most random of places. from the looks of it, it didnât seem like she had broken the item, though, even if she did sera wouldâve just told her to put it back. let it be someone elseâs problem. âiâd blame the floor more so than your feet âcause who told it to trip you?â she joked, âwhat are you doing here? never took you for a vinyl girl.â those words could easily be applied to sera, but she asked nas first.
nasrin knew that it wasnât that big of a deal that she dropped the vinyl but she knew that it would play over and over in her head at night, despite her best efforts. when sera asked if she was okay, nasrin nodded. she was embarrassed beyond belief but at least she wasnât seriously hurt or injured. she thanked her lucky stars that the vinyl wasnât cracked or didnât slip out of its sleeve. âthe floor is my enemy sometimes,â she joked back. it made sense that sera didnât take her for a vinyl girl since they mostly knew each other in a professional context. âwell, in college, i studied music marketing along with speech pathology. music has always been one of my passions but i decided to pursue speech pathology for my masters and job.â

it wasnât a surprise when nasrin heard a knock on her door and saw merrick with some baked goods. baking had always been something that made nasrin feel at peace with the world, which was one of the things she craved the most. whenever things felt like they were getting overwhelming, into the kitchen she would go to bake cookies that would make the world feel a little slower and more manageable.Â
âoh, i absolutely love oatmeal scotchies!â nasrin exclaimed, giving merrick the biggest smile. âiâll have to bake you something to make it up to you.â nasrin was already thinking about what she could bake merrick. âiâll definitely give some to my clients but iâm gonna take a lot of these for myself. do you want to come in and make a dent in these?â
closed starter / @nasrinfmâ baking connection ?
it was the stress, really, that was keeping her in the kitchen so much. mid terms and boy troubles and the gap between her and her sister feeling wider and wider every day that passed. usually when she made too much, she headed over to see nasrin - the woman was an excellent baker herself, but their friendship seemed to be bound by pastries and cookies.
âi hope you like oatmeal scotchies,â she said with a smile when nasrin answered the door. âi made about four dozen and i justâŠdonât really know what else to do with them. i figure you can hand some out to your clients or whatever, or we could absolutely eat them all - i just knew if they stayed at my place, iâd eat them all on my own.â

nasrin hated being away from teddy. her dog was one of the most constant positives in her life, and he brought her so much comfort. she had grown up with an emotional support dog when her emotional regulation problems got to be a lot for her parents to handle and ever since then, she couldnât imagine her life without a dog, especially teddy who had been with her since she was a grad student. but work conferences came up and sometimes it was unfeasible or impossible to bring teddy so she had to leave him at home. thankfully, bennett was a great dog sitter. but that didnât change how much nasrin detested the time she was away from her precious boy. when she walked into the kitchen, teddy immediately jumped up on her legs and she couldnât help but wear the biggest smile on her face. âi donât know whoâs happier to see who,â she said, wrapping teddy up in a hug. âhow was he?â
STARTER FOR: @nasrinfmâ EXTRA: nasrinâs apartment
a love of animals was something bennett would never shake â it might have even been his first love, even if hockey was often said to be that ( itâs just a matter of probability, he was around horses will before he could even put on skates ). but though hockey took over a great deal of his time, he was glad he could still find pockets of time for volunteering at the animal shelter, and short dog sitting gigs like the one he had with nasrin and teddy. heâs in her kitchen, prepping teddyâs diner time meal when the door creaks open, something that might be alarming if not for the excited way teddy immediately bounded toward the door. bennett follows a bit more slowly, food bowl in hand and smile on his face as he watches the joyful reunion.   â someoneâs happy to see you â â   he says, clearly amused.    â â donât worry, iâm not offended. â   if it was anything he loved most about dogs, it was their staunch loyalty to their owners.

bcalrightsâ:
IF SOLEIL NEEDED THE MONEY, sheâd probably work at the record factory. sheâd also spend her entire paycheck here, but thatâs beside the point. sheâs checking out the records by the register labelled new releases and is about to turn the corner when something falls in front of her. sol crouches down on instinct, the familiar voice catching her attention altogether. â if it was anyone else, nas.. â the red head says in a faux sternness and takes the record. she holds the record out with a playful smile, â iâd throw a complete bitch fit. my day would be ruined. i mean honestly, did you just swear ?? â she goes to stand, hands smoothing out her skirt. â you okay ?? or are you going to scar my virgin ears a little bit more ?? â
NASRIN FOUND SO MUCH SOLACE in music that her vinyl collection kept growing to the point where it was almost ridiculous. that didnât stop her from buying them almost every time one of her favorite artists came out with a new album, though. nasrin laughs at solâs joke. â i can actually hear my dad yelling at me not to swear right now. â she used to swear a lot actually, when she would get frustrated easily about the progress she wasnât making with her speech therapist. but as soon as she got things in check, she tried to stop although it obviously occasionally popped out. â no, i promise. iâll be good. â

he likes vinyls. he just doesnât buy them because he doesnât have enough money to afford the collection he wants and deserves. thatâs why he sticks to cds. and there are some 2022 albums he doesnât have. like beyoncĂ©âs renaissance, and harry styleâs harryâs house. yes, he loves pop. he also makes sure to get foalsâ life is yours and liam gallagherâs third album he hadnât had the chance to buy. noahâs about to walk up to the register when he hears a thud and he winces when he sees itâs a vinyl. âyou know you canât fall on a place like this,â he chuckles and helps nasrin up. he hadnât seen the girl in a while, but heâs glad sheâs still herself. âdid it crack?â his eyes scan the vinyl on the floor.Â
even before nasrin had a record player, she would collect vinyls just for the pure aesthetic of having vinyls all over her wall. sure, it was impractical but it was all about the look back then when she was a full fledged tumblr girlie. honestly, nasrin was so embarrassed about her clumsiness that she didnât even think about the vinyl cracking. she winces thinking about the fact that she couldâve damaged this one. âi hope not. maybe the sleeve shielded it?â she offers, hopefully.
