People can say “awww Petunia was just grieving her sister all along” and “she abused Harry because he reminded her of Lily and she was just in a lot of pain and took it out on him, cut her some slack” and “she kept Harry’s baby blanket because she did love him” all the livelong day - but the fact remains that woman is an irredeemable bitch who deserved a restraining order and actual prison time for child abuse. She only kept that blanket to remember Lily, not because she gave a damn about Harry. (She and Snape aren’t that different, actually; they only “protected” Harry because they felt guilty about Lily, not because they cared about him.) Lily will NEVER forgive Petunia in the afterlife, and if Lily were to somehow come back, she would Crucio Petunia and Vernon to pulps for how they treated Harry, if not use a full Avada Kedavra on them. And so would James. Petunia may have had understandable reasons to resent Lily and fear the wizarding world, but she had NO excuse whatsoever for her mistreatment of Harry.

Rereading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and oh my god Harry’s abuse is crazy bad. I genuinely forgot how horrific it was. He was locked in his room like an actual prisoner and starved. The truly most awful part though is Harry’s reactions to everything. He shakes when Uncle Vernon is upset with him— such a little detail but what a horrible reminder that he’s still only a child. And the worst part is that when he was locked in his room he sincerely thought that he would starve to death.
At twelve years old, before he even learned about the basilisk and the diary horcrux, he was locked in a room by his family not sure for how much longer he’d live.
(Side note: he gave Hedwig part of the very little food he had :()

From the moment Harry stepped foot into the Wizarding World he was met by people left and right telling him he was just like his parents.
They weren’t wrong of course, Harry did look just like his father with his mother’s eyes. However, when Harry thought about his behavior he thought about one person.
Everything from the quiet habits he possessed to the way he interacted with people all rooted in a woman with long blonde hair and pale green eyes.
When agitated Harry would run his fingers through his hair, lip biting common as he focused. As he laughed he would bring a hand up to cover his mouth as he doubled over in quiet laughter. He even tapped his foot lightly in beat with music and tilted his head towards the person he was listening to. Shoulders were set back as he walked, his eyes staring straight ahead.
Harry’s anger was often cold, his eyes sharp and icy as his expression went blank. When he did blow up he could destroy things, yelling his displeasure and even getting physical. It was well known he had a mouth, one that could cut people down in an instant, insults creative and quick. If he wanted something his words became his best weapon, the boy expertly weaving webs with them.
Most of the time Harry opted to listen instead of speaking, only putting in a word when needed. He could command a room when he needed, easily conveying confidence he didn’t feel. With a sharp eye he pays attention to the smallest of details, seeing things he shouldn’t.
All of these things reminiscent of a woman who would rant about the neighbors, words cutting and creative. A woman who had a thing for gossip and cruelty, who would cry to his teachers saying she didn’t know how to correct his behavior and turning the whole community against him.
She was well known in the neighborhood, everyone respecting her, the woman easily commanding a room. However, she much more preferred to listen instead of speaking, pale green eyes catching small details that the average person wouldn’t. When in a crowd people would move out of her way, the way she walked indicating she had somewhere to be even when she didn’t.
When doing taxes she would worry her bottom lip, a hand coming to run through hair when she was upset. Laughs elegant and quiet as she covered her mouth, body leaning forward ever so slightly.
There was nobody Harry acted more like than Petunia Dursley, and how he hated it.
But little did he know that some of those traits also belonged to a mother long past.

If you still think you can throw money in any capacity to any Harry Potter related content + theme park
There are two main ways that Warner Bros. et al. get paid from Universal according to this contract. The first one is a “Guaranteed Fee,” which is paid every year on July 1st.
Every time you purchase a Butterbeer, licensed product, on-ride photograph, or even a bottle of Gillywater from one of the Wizarding World lands at a Universal Park around the world, a percentage of that sale will go directly to the rights holders (Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling).

I’m not usually someone who likes when fanon claims every character to be some form of minority or another bc to me it feels quite forced. however my one exception to this is Harry Potter bc fuck ofc Remus has dyslexia and was disabled. Ron Weasley?? I’m sorry do you mean Ronnie Weasley?? The trans woman??? What do you mean James potters white??? Ginny and Harry? I think you’re mistaken Ginny’s a lesbian and in a relationship with Luna and Harry and Draco have been pining over each other since the philosophers stone.

maybe the marauders just sucked
beyond canon accuracy, one of the main arguments against Black Snape is that it will make the Marauders' bullying look bad.
Please actually read that statement, particularly the bolded word.
The bullying was always bad. It was never framed as a good thing in the original books. You've just consumed so much fanon that you think the Marauders were gay 70s-style activists fighting against the incel school shooter. They didn't dislike Snape for valid reasons. The bullying started because Snape said he wanted to be in Slytherin and because of his appearance. The narrative so blatantly calls them twats and even Harry, who had every reason to hate Snape, had the heroic idealation of his father ruined once he learned the truth.
I'm not saying Snape was an innocent uwu who never did anything wrong. He was into dark shit and quickly sliding into wizard supremacy. Every choice he made was just that: his choice. He only develops a conscience when the woman he wants is in danger, and even then, he spends the rest of his life being cruel to a child.
And the Marauders were still in the wrong for targeting him.
Kinda sad that y'all only question their actions when a veil of racism is thrown over them. Like, you're so close to getting the point...

I LOVE the fact that Snape fans are not the ones mad about his possible casting. Even if some of us (like me) don't like it that much because we wanted an UGLY Snape (please give me my scrawny man with a huge nose and crooked teeth), we don't give a fuck about his race.
You will see me laughing at every marauders fan post whining about the idea of being called racist.

Make the strongest female Professor, who was a positive role model for every girl at school and has no mentioned skin color in canon black?
HBO: NAH.
Make the headmaster of Hogwarts, the only one Voldy ever feared, one of the greatest wizards of his time, who also has no mentioned skin color in canon black?
HBO: NAH.
Make the poor boy who grew up in poverty with an abusive father and turned to a gang to escape that world and is explicitly mentioned to be white in canon black?
HBO: Yes! YEEEEEESSSSSSSS! Yes! Woo-hoo! We did it! Diversity points for everybody! YYYYEESSSS!

my favorite type of tomarrymort is actually Voldemort at the ripe age of 70 discovering feelings of true love compassion towards Harry and suddenly acting like a giddy teenage girl who writes about her crush with added hearts in her diary
