“You just don’t look like a guard.” She replied with a shrug. “Well…I’m a girl, and I’m a scout….so yes?” Eris questioned. “No, I’ve never been, never even heard of it. I’m from Pixie Hollow in Neverland.”

“You don’t look like one either, so I guess that makes us even.” And equal, it seems. “No, no. That’s not what I meant. A girl scout is sort of...Well, something girls do to earn badges. I don’t know, I wasn’t really one myself. I can’t explain it, you have to look it up.” She sighed, finally defeated. “Hm. Well, not many have. It’s kind of small. Pixie Hollow? Neverland? Uh. That’s not a country. Where is that?”

They just gave it to me when I arrived…” He replied, handing her the phone. “I’m not used to having an accent… I suppose I’m used to everyone speaking the language.” Bennett said with a shrug. “…I’m sorry, a car? What’s that?” He asked, raising a brow. “We have paintings and portraits… Is that the same? I could help teach you.”

“Really? Well, it’s not that hard. You can call anyone you like or text. You can even take pictures and send them to people. Here, let me show you.” Taking the phone, Natalie pulled up the photo app and snapped a quick picture of Bennett. “See,” she paused, holding up the screen. “I get it. I’m not used to hearing all these accents either. It’s kind of cool. But I can speak French at an intermediate level.” If that was worth anything. “It’s a, well...Like a carriage that moves. I could show you?” She suggested. “Sort of, I guess. Oh, I’d love that. But only if you have time, I wouldn’t want to bother you.”

“Natalie Stoppable…You’re a guard?” Eris asked, shaking the other girl’s hand. “Back in home I’m a scout. Basically a guard and protector. Where’s home for you?”

“That’s me. Why do you question that, do I not look like one?” She was young in age, but even that hadn’t challenged her abilities. “A scout? Like a girl scout? Where are you from? And I am from Middleton, it’s in the United States. Ever been?”

“I guess you could say that, yeah. She’s my commanding officer, though we’re sort of on equal playing fields.” He wasn’t sure how exactly one could make a living out of flips, but he was intrigued. “Oh, I see. I think I get it, though I’m not too familiar with gymnastics. Well, seeing as how I don’t have any enemies coming after me that I would need protection from, not a resident. Guard, yes. I take it you are as well? If not, they should consider making you one.”

“Commanding officer? Oh, are you guys in the army? I guess being here is a big change from all that. Either way that is noble of you.” She commented, always believing that protecting the country as honorable. “Gymnastics is tricky, but fun once you understand how to do all the movies. I could show you if you want. You might actually have a natural talent. Hm. I guess we’d be working together then. So are you really as good as you think...with fighting I mean. Or does a soldier like you need weapons?”

“It’s probably what they’re used to, having people serve them all the time. Yeah, the trial period… I guess they just want me to shadow people and prove myself. I mean, I get it. It’s too bad we’re not on the same floor, but if you ever want to have a sleepover, then I’m down.”

“Which is totally some Downton Abbey cliche. I wonder if their parents really sent them here to get away from that? Shadow people? That’s stupid, was that my mom’s idea or something? I get that maybe my sisters are skeptical, but I don’t see why. I honestly think you are smarter than your dad, don’t tell him that though. OH yes! I agree! I even brought some movies since I wasn’t sure what this place had. But then I found a movie theater so we should definitely do a private screening of Thor so I can just look at Chris Hemsworth. If you aren’t doing anything now, we can watch it OR we can do some training. I can show you around.”

“I didn’t even think of that… Great. Well, at least we have each other now. It’ll make things suck less. Well, I don’t think you’ll have any trouble proving yourself. I’m kind of here on a trial period. They want to see if I can do any good around here. Well, I’m on the third floor. We’re not close by are we?”

“I didn’t think about it until I compared myself to other workers. Some of them go unnoticed, which is an interesting thought to keep in mind. Thanks, I am definitely trying hard to. And trial period? Why do you need to do that? The third floor? No, I guess we aren’t. I am on the first. Hey. Wait. Tell me about this trial period thing. What do you have to do?”

“It’s not easy when everyone here is royal. We are just the help in their mind. Ah. I really hope not. Finally, something they trust me to do without their help. “That wasn’t my intention, so I will apologize, for that. Of course I realize that we’re equals; if I had treated anyone differently because of something as gender I’m pretty sure my mother would have kicked my ass a long time ago.” Jax stopped everything that he was doing to watch as the fiery redhead flipped herself right over him. Standing up, Jax rose a brow in surprise. “I go by Jax. Jax Calhoun. I have to say, that was pretty impressive…”

“It’s okay, I get it more often than not. All is forgiven. And really? Why would your mom kick your ass? Let me guess, she’s some wicked awesome crime fighter?” That was her only assumption. Landing on her feet, Natalie brushed the fallen pieces of hair from her face. “Nice to meet you, Jax. Oh I know, it’s kind of what I do for a living. My mom always said cheerleading was one reason she was good at crime fighting. All those gymnastic lessons pay off. So are you a guard here or just another resident?”

She was far more mature than most people her age. Without speaking, Natalie flung herself on her hands, pulling up into a hand stand and with her strength bounced over the blonde. “No, we don’t. We are the New Yorkers of the Midwest. But I guess I should have been a little nicer. Natalie Stoppable, you are?”

“Yes, I just arrived a few days ago. I’m Athena, and you are?” She asked, not wanting to give her real name in case the other wasn’t who she said she was. “You’re a guard too?”

“Really? I didn’t know of any Athena coming, but okay. It’s nice to meet you. I am Natalie Stoppable.” She introduced herself, extending her hand forward in slight worry. They never said the name Athena before, maybe this girl was lying? “I am a guard here, but I am more of a hero back at home. What about you?”
