There'd been a lot of unpleasant goings-on lately, a new crisis every week that one could almost set a clock to. But, folk would probably complain equally if they lived in uninteresting times.
"Agh, that was a nightmare, we were on a camping trip when that shit happened. No real clue what was happening, household is still a mess because of it."

Tobi groaned at the mention of Beast World, that was a whole fiasco he'd love to forget "That bullshit. I've got months of paperwork to deal with over that." Which meant no field research or work for some time.
Giving a smile he extended his hand "Tobi Lazgar, pleasure to meet ya, Tyson."

He raised an eyebrow "I heard something happened at the zoo, heard so many things from different people I dunno what exactly went down."
Hearing there'd been an incident made him glad he didn't give in to his cousins pleas and take her there.

"Fifth? You keep a list of that stuff?" He asked "Damn, I just let it morph into one big dislike for the day."

"Maybe those adults should know what it's like to be hurt." He mumbled under his breath before getting up and following after Silas "Hay, wait up, please."
It'd been some time since Tobi was afforded a trip like this. Uni took up so much of his time, raising his cousin took what little was left, leaving barely any for him.
On a rare weekend, he could pack up and go camping in the middle of fuck-off nowhere to do a bit of research on his own time.
Not many cared for his theory about rare plants that bloomed only in the moonlight. Only two bothered to feign interest and that was his cousin and his ex.
So there he was, sitting in the middle of nowhere and drawing strange plants by torchlight. And he couldn't imagine a better place to be.

The gun in his bag and the hours that had passed were a good indication, though Tobi probably wouldn't use the weapon even if threatened "I haven't so far, and I've had ample time." He gestured back to where he'd sat, his sketchbook and bag laying on the ground.
"I had no idea the superstitions were true, at worst I thought I'd meet a bear."

"It's alright, I won't hurt you." He whispered "I dont- I don't even know how to- are you alright?"

Sampling alcohols was becoming something of a hobby for the half-orc, through his travels he'd come across many ways of making good booze, and more reasons to stop and taste when he had the time to spare.
Raising an eyebrow he looked at the drink, the smell alone would probably knock a lightweight out. Whatever the secret ingredient was it must be something special to give off that scent.
"I think I'm still sober enough to earn all three." He grinned and picked the mug up, taking a deeper sniff he sighed "Smells strong enough to be on par with Druidic Moonshine."
Taking a small sip his eyes widened, high quality alcohols and mead from honey that was definitely made by happy bees. And a secret something he couldn't quite put his finger on. Another sip and he leaned back in his chair "I'll have to tell my Circle about this place."
Places like this weren't his scene at all, too many people, too few exists, and not enough alcohol to make the situation easier.
The tavern was fairly busy, though Tobi was managing to scare off any unwanted guests at his table. He hated having to meet people in places like this, but understood why folks were hesitant to go meet in a forest.
He sat, he waited, and he wondered why his old friend had asked him to go meet one of hers. Details were fuzzy, but he agreed anyways.
"One more drink, then I'll leave." The half-orc sighed to himself "I'll kick her ass if this friend doesn't show."

Too fearful to get up and run Tobi remained on the ground, only daring to quietly flip the page of his sketchbook and start drawing the strange beast.
When dawn approached he was met work the terrifying realisation that the stories were true, werewolves were real..
Before he could think Tobi clearly he was draping his blanket over the poor boy "You- you're real?"

Was it a dog, a wolf, some twisted superstition come to life? As he met the creatures gaze the young man moved slowly and carefully away from the half butchered deer "Y-you can have it, I won't fight you for it." He whispered and gripped the gun inside the bag before covering himself as the beast moved

Silence wasn't natural, silence in nature was a warning in itself and when he finally noticed the lack of natural noise the hairs on the back of his neck stood up.
Unsure if it was man or beast that had caused the sudden hush of nature Tobi carefully reached into his bag. A gun wasn't something he liked to carry like this but Leruxis hadn't given him a choice if he wanted a babysitter for the weekend.
"You've scared off all the crickets and frogs, you must be something scary." He chuckled, hoping it was just a passing wolf, or at worse a curious bear wanting some food "Come on out, I don't mind sharing my food, as long as you're friendly."

One perk of camping was getting to hunt for himself, as much as his peers judged him Tobi found it refreshing to hunt and feed himself on his trips. He wouldn't eat a whole deer himself but nature would surely make use of the half he didn't need.
Though, he wasn't dumb enough to fully disregard the rumors surrounding this area. Talk of beasts coming in the night to steal campers away had intrigued him, superstitions always stemmed from some truth.

Tobi wasn't sure there was anything to be done for it, save for removing all memory of the last six months. It wasn't as if a traumatic adventure was anything new for him, he'd been in dire situations before, he'd seen beloved friends fall in battle. He himself had fallen and brought back a handful of times.
Leaning back against Ubrias he mumbled something under his breath, the soft and gentle Wizard knew nothing of deathly adventures, maybe his perspective would be what helped him now.
"Can you hold me for a while?" He asked, right now he didn't know where to even start, all he wanted was to feel safe.
‘I’ve been plagued by these nightmares for months. They don’t seem to stop.’
(natures-lost-warden)
Ubrias held Tobi close, knowing full well that he suffered greatly from the terrible nightmares. In the night, the mage would wake suddenly to find Tobi thrashing about in the bed, yelling out and moving his arms and reaching for something. It made Ubrias’ heart go out to him and he would do his best to calm his friend. Though sometimes it seemed not to be enough.
Quietly, Ubrias asked, his arms wrapped comfortingly around Tobi:
“Are you alright?”

"Bold of you to think I won't be a vengeful spirit. Wouldn't be the first time I died and got mad at someone over it."
"Why do Wizards always need a giant tower? Is a simple cottage or a normal house not good enough for ya! Always gotta be up six sets of stairs with no hand rail.. Unnecessary!"

Memories were fickle things, Tobi knew he too would forget his mother some day, in a few centuries he may forget where he came from or why clung to an old book of recipes and tidbits of advice. It was a cruel twist of fate, but it was one he'd come to peace with.
"I write it all down, so even when I forget her I'll always have her wisdom." Laying down amongst the flowers Tobi kept his eyes on the sky "The people we love are never truly gone or forgotten, their impact on us keeps them with us."
Auburn nights, @wanderingarcherviola
The winds blew through the dark forest a chilling sting to them as summer gave way to fall. The normally bright green leaves starting to turn Auburn colors. In a clearing in the Forrest a campfire provided warmth. A long skewer roasted a small boar on it with a pot nearby it. Sitting near the fire cleaning and sharpening a large longsword sat a rather tall red orc. An oddity in the area since his kind came from a far away land. His armor almost looked like a greenish bronze with intricate engravings all over it much like ceremonial armor. His blade matched his armor in color and similar designs on its pommel and guard. He heard something coming but seemed to pay it little mind as he hummer a gentle tune.

He was aware he was dreaming, but that didn't make those memories any easier for him. His mind still unable to fully process what happened kept sending him back, forcing him to relive it.
Thankfully, Ubrias was always there to wake him, pulling him from the dreadful nightmares and into the safety of his embrace.
Tobi shook his head as he woke fully, tears falling as he opened his eyes "I can't- I keep having that dream." He whispered "I'm so tired, why won't it stop!"
