Okay, so the murders don’t necessarily have to be committed inside the room. The victims could’ve been Rube Goldberg’d to death. The murderer could simply yank on the rope from outside the room and, bam, asphyxiation. There’s no need to escape to room in that case. Honestly, the more I think about the more it’s starting to make sense. 🤓

The nails also have a more utilitarian use besides upholding the ~aesthetic~ of the urban legend. They keep the body in place so the rope trick works. The dolls also have the same purpose besides creepy aesthetics. They’re leverages.
