In the garden, the start of the growing season means the return of dirt under our fingernails, the scent of freshly spread mulch and the first blooming roses. In my neighborhood, and perhaps yours, it also means an audible onslaught of lawnmowers, leaf blowers and other tools of the landscaper’s trade.

From 8 a.m. through at least early afternoon — five or six days every week — the hum of power tools and other machines disrupts my peace. But even more concerning is that my peace pales in importance to that of my property’s other residents.

The "Cocoon," a biodegradable cardboard donut developed by Dutch company Land Life, aids tree growth in arid regions. It's placed around a seedling in a pit, filled with 25 liters of water, and then covered to prevent evaporation. The water slowly seeps into the soil, nurturing the roots. This method boasts up to a 95% survival rate in hot, dry areas, using 1000 times less water than traditional planting, and has helped plant over 10 million trees globally.

If current tree harvesting rates continue, the world could lose a substantial portion of its forests, potentially tens of millions of hectares, over the next 20 years.

very obvious that carnivorous plants live in the wild but none of my times seeing carnivorous plants in various commercial and enthusiast settings had prepared me for almost stepping on them at [redacted southeastern US location] i got to go to on the conference plant field trip last weekend. they were actually eating flies and stuff next to like mud and grass and some sand. sundews and pitcher plants there too. just in the bushes. crazy stuff out there folks

War Water

War Water (also called Iron Water) is a powerful tool in witchcraft used for protection, hexing, banishing, and warding off enemies. It originates from Hoodoo, Appalachian folk magic, and other mystical traditions.

Uses of War Water:

• Protection – Sprinkle around your home to create a spiritual barrier.

• Banishing – Throw it where unwanted people have walked to remove their influence.

• Cursing – Toss onto an enemy’s property to bring discord and bad luck.

• Warding Off Negativity – Add to floor washes or sprinkle near entrances.

• In Spellwork - Use in rituals for breaking curses, creating wards, or calling upon warrior spirits.

Needed:

• Rusty nails (or iron shavings or railroad spikes)

• Water (preferably storm or river water for extra potency)

• Salt (black salt for cursing, sea salt for protection)

• Cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes (for aggression and strength)

• Vinegar – Used to sour relationships in cursing spells.

• Mugwort or Rue – For added spiritual power.

Instructions:

Place the rusty nails or iron in a jar. If your nails aren’t rusty, leave them in water for a few weeks to oxidize. Fill the jar with water. Use stormwater for aggressive energy, river water for powerful flow, or tap water if necessary. Add salt and herbs and let it sit for at least a week. The longer it sits, the stronger it becomes. Some witches let it develop for months. Shake or stir when using, the rust, herbs, and salt should be well mixed before application.

Hello Friends. I recently discovered how to make a Phenology Wheel and thought this is something that many of you would also enjoy. If you aren’t familiar with phenology, it is the study of seasonal changes in plants, animals, and weather patterns. You may have done some version of a phenology wheel in elementary school. Studying when flowers bloom, birds migrate, or when the first frost arrives, is an easy way to connect with nature and the season at hand. It is also a good way to quiet your mind and be in the present moment.

I was not able to find any open source photos of a completed phenology wheel and I didn’t want to wait until I had completed one. So, I put together some examples over on Pinterest instead. Just remember, this isn’t an exercise only for people who are considered artistic. Like journaling or keeping a grimoire, taking the time each day to work on a phenology wheel is it is another way for you to connect with your inner spirit and the world around you.
