Did you know: Bowser from the Super Mario brothers franchise was originally modeled off of the Ox King from Osamu Tezuka’s 1960 film adaptation of Journey to the west. Shigeru Miyamoto (the creator of the franchise) has stated in interviews that the 1960 Journey of the west adaptation was one of his favorite films growing up as a child, and he used the villain as inspiration for Boswer’s very first design.
