Day 6 - "Malice"

So I was really inspired by the scene of Asuka's death from "The end of Evangelion"

For me, her death actually have something in common with wwx's death .....

     they have been on this stretch of their trip for quite a while, yes. but the downtime was welcome. it's funny; were this when he was still a teen, wuxian might have agreed with her. but he finds the lull in their venture a needed respite. and just when he makes a motion to explain his interest in the book-- he catches that her own has faded. pity. it really is a good story. " of course i was bored. " he replies, the little novel shut now, since his attention is elsewhere. " trips across space take time. perhaps you should pick up a book, or ponder your path, or whatever you might like to spend your time doing. " a small laugh. " why not take a nap? draw me a little picture, ohhhh- i don't know. write me a poem! times like these are perfect for exploring your creative side. " procuring then, a small notebook from his robe for her to use.

❝ yeah, yeah, whatever. ❞ she dismisses his comment with a flick of wrist, upright posture resumed. ❝ didn't take you as a romance type of guy. then again, you did go missing for a decade so it's natural to pick up some new hobbies. ❞ she loses interest in the tale as the words reach her ears though her gaze lingers on the book for a moment before flitting back to the endless stretch of the universe. ❝ aren't you bored? we've been on this ship for . . . i don't even know, but it's been too long! ❞

the longing and love between wei wuxian and lan wangji will always make me absolutely insane and feral and sick they mean everything to me

i think wei wuxian having experienced both the role of villain and hero in the world-- has given him a lot of personal insight. able to see the nuance in people and their actions, that others do not. i was just talking about him and jin guangyao. how despite all the things he'd been accused of- he doesn't hold any grudge. and even expresses caution when further "stories" of jin guangyao's misdeeds emerge. he refuses to entertain the gossip, or seek revenge in any way for how he'd been wronged. and states that nie huaisang's actions were not necessarily justice, since jin guangyao had actually done an incredible amount of good.

it really places wei wuxian on incredibly neutral ground. he is a very good person, but he isn't perfect. and he knows this applies to most everyone in the world. that nothing is exactly as it seems at first glance. having been the subject of the general populations ire-- he knows that word of mouth can do more damage in a shorter amount of time, than any single person could ever hope to in the same.

wei wuxian has a very give and take mentality. growing up, nothing was ever free. believing fervently that he needs to earn everything he’s given. that he can’t have something without giving something in return. it doesn’t help either that the mentality has been validated and encouraged by the people around him. and he is shown time and time again, told how much he owed to the people he’s hurt. it kind of explains why he is so reluctant to share his own struggles, and pains with others. that by telling them, by sharing-- it might open him up to more of that metaphorical debt. that if people help him, without having anything to give back, then it’ll just hurt him further. half the time it’s not even intentional, it’s a subconscious reflex that’s been branded on his character.

in his first life, combining this with his hubris was bound to ruin him. this refusal to share his suffering combined with his own crushing confidence--- that fucked him over. because he’s had to be confident, he’s had to keep his struggles to himself. he’s needed to put on a face, and tried to keep this public face while falling apart. between all the sects pushing and pushing, and the loss of his sister...well. they really didn’t need all that much to point their fingers, and label him the villain so.

          it's not like he asked to be brought back from the dead. though much of the world might of argued otherwise then. the fearsome yilling laozu! a pariah, a ghost, returned to exact revenge! wei wuxian was actually quite content with nothingness; not knowing, not feeling. it wasn't like sleeping-- it was like an absence of everything. he did not exist anymore, and for a time he felt the world was probably better off. there isn't any going back now though, and he's content enough to enjoy this second chance he's been given.
