Not sure if anyone’s posted this already, but Mrs. Shirogane is voiced by Ayako Kawasumi in Tokyo Mew Mew New. She was originally the voice of the cat Jacqueline in episode 29 of the 2002 anime.

If anyone else is still looking for an online shop to purchase the 1/7 scale Mew Ichigo figure by FuRyu, the figure is now listed for sale on HobbyLink Japan. The figure's suggested retail price is about 27,500 yen and it is planned to release in January 2023.

Numerous other online retailers are also beginning to post listings for the figure as well, so keep your eyes peeled if you’d like to add her to your collection!

Tokyo Mew Mew New Official Visual Book Lookthrough

“Pull up a seat and let's go through the new anime visual guide book together.” :3

Apologies in advance for the mistakes, as this was unscripted, unrehearsed, and mostly a preliminary test to see how the sound and video would look if I used my phone to record, how well I could do with speaking, etc. It’s by no means a professional, polished video. Trial and error! (Any constructive feedback is appreciated.)

I did pronounce some words wrong as well (and I said "opening" when referring to the new pre-opening intro), so I'd be happy if you could overlook these errors and enjoy looking through this book with me anyway. o/

Tomorrow’s the big day! I hope you guys are as excited as I am.

Tokyo Mew Mew New Visual Book

Just received my copy of the visual book in the mail today! I hope to share my general impressions and speculations a little later on, but for anyone wondering if the book is worth getting, my answer would be an enthusiastic YES. Although the book doesn’t go into too much detail about what we can expect of the new anime, it includes lots of screencaps as well as images of some of the clothing, props, new Chimera Anima, and some of the backgrounds/settings. I was notably pleased to see that Ichigo’s school looks almost identical to how it appeared in the original anime, while other locations will undergo some interesting changes.

The book also includes a small memorial booklet inside for the original anime. The highlight of that for me was a bunch of character settei featured in the back (albeit very, very small). I do hope Kodansha will consider putting together a larger, complete settei book in the future, as there were costumes and character drawings I’ve never come across in my years of collecting, so seeing them and knowing they still exist was a real treat. (Even characters like Rei, Mary and Iruka were included!)

The book features a look at some of the (new) animation douga, cast and staff interviews, a collection of title page art and furoku offered through Nakayoshi magazine, and much more. There was a lot of variety, so I think no matter what your favorite part about Mew Mew is, there will be something featured within for you to enjoy. And from what we can see, it looks like the new anime is going to be really beautiful. Can’t wait!

The visual book can still be purchased from a number of sources including CDJapan and Amazon.jp. I personally recommend AmiAmi. (They have gotten more stock in since the book’s release and they also offer worldwide shipping.)

March: Magical Girl Art Poll

I do plan to draw Mew Pudding in the same style as Lettuce and Zakuro, but starting in March I hope to work on a larger marker piece every month to challenge myself a bit more. So for next month, I’m making a poll in search of a magical girl to draw.

Behind the Cafe...

Just sharing a cute idea that came to mind the other day:

Ichigo is taking out the trash after a long afternoon working at Cafe Mew Mew. She walks out the back door and hears a strange noise! So, curious, she sets the bag down and cautiously peers around the side of the building - only to find Ryou knelt down with some leftover food scraps to feed the local stray cats.

It was supposed to be a secret! ...but Keiichiro already figured it out a good while ago. He’s actually been making sure there’s some extra scraps in the kitchen so Ryou has something to sneak to them every day.
