it feels right for her

tentative lore is that she died so was left by her crew - the forest tried to claim her body as one of its vessels, but for some reason she retained her memories.

unfortunately, being dead, her body continues to rot - albeit slowly, due to the forest's influence. she's forced to replace the rotting parts with scraps, usually from machines

only...the machine parts are pushing the forest out, claiming her as their own. urging her to find their matching parts so the entity they once were can be whole again..

at first glance, I was a little frustrated that we had another mechanic we’d need to babysit every half hour. She’s actually a massive improvement on our existing dailies

You have to babysit Baldwin if you want to make anything within a reasonable timeframe. The color of the item you get is random and some of them are frustratingly rare. If you check in once per day, it could take up to 3 weeks to prep the materials for a prismatic token.

You have to babysit Arlo if you want to make anything within a reasonable timeframe. It either clears 5 random tiles out of hundreds, or 1 singular tile from a plot of your choice. If you check in once per day, it’ll take the better part of a month to clear the smallest plots.

You have to babysit Swipp, because if you miss the 2 hour window, the item you want might not be available for weeks.

You…don’t have to babysit Sophie, actually. There is literally 0 random chance involved. You can check in once per day and make anything you want in under than a week, guaranteed

36. a local deity or worship practice

Soooo....

I may or may not have an entire tab dedicated to my lore's deities hahaha

But outside of funerary practices or the choice of individuals to worship certain deities, there's not really set worship practices - at least for the Collectors.

That said, survival is a Very common theme in my lore - so the denizens of the Forest believe in multiple gods of survival. Some are more prominent than others.

Currently I have three who are actually completed: Kladeos, Decay, and the unnamed. I plan to add more as I complete more projects.

Kladeos tends to be the god most often worshipped - especially by healers, or those with sick or injured loved ones. Aside from being the god of survival against the odds, it's also noted as a god of hope and medicine.

Decay is considered a minor god of survival, as well as of mutations.

Some dragons believe that the two are foils, with Decay ruining Kladeos' work to twist its healing into its own image. Others believe that Decay is a byproduct of Kladeos' power, mutating to survive illness that should have killed it. The belief varies depending on what parts of the Forest one finds themself in. The Collectors believe in the latter version.

The unnamed were once a single entity, their soul split in punishment for stealing from the judgement god, Avior. The two halves are now brother and sister, trapped in an endless cycle of the sister hunting the brother across the sky. They're considered the gods of predator and prey - two very different types of survival, and both types being what the Forest's denizens are constantly trying to balance.

46. where your clan began

OK! so most clans have a direct line to the old Clan Rising Tides which was located in an underwater grotto about here

from there the plan is to have pretty much almost every clan branch out from someone who had been in this original clan. The current state of that underwater grotto is that it's since collapsed and Nocturnal keeps several guards posted over there to assure the final resting place of many dragons is undisturbed. are there probably all sorts of treasures buried there? yes. is it INCREDIBLY dangerous and unstable? also yes. has that stopped others in the past from sneaking around down there? well...

47. where your clan is now

Now here we can get several locations for the various clans within my lair!

Wander's Rest is here! its built at the crossroads of Wind Fire and Water flights and thus has a district for each flight. dragons are continuing to build walkways across the gap between wind and fire, while down at the water is a town square floating around. Think Pacifidlog town in hoenn but if it were huge and meant for dragons. The housing for water element dragons stretch down into the depths as well. Pteropus, Bismuth and Nocturnal from the original clan all reside here.

The Dragons of the Gloaming Grove live roughly somewhere in here. or at least the crossing into the place is. the Gloaming grove is hidden away by its leader, Izcacus, to keep the residents safe. no one gets in or out unless he wants that to happen. Cartouche might not have been a member of clan rising tides when the grotto collapsed but she was around to see all the fallout afterwards.

The Kritikos Paladin academy and town of Psonizo are here! The Paladin Academy is by the large pillar and Psonizo is by the bridge. The town and academy are further separated as well because this clan is done in collaboration with RainyDaz3 on FR. shared lore with the bestie!!! :D

Tiber, one of the original founding members of Clan Rising Tides has decided to reside here

The Barrens Brigands group lives about here by the comically large cacti. This band of mercenaries is led by Lykos who was one of the original founding members of Clan Riding Tides.

33. the traditions taught to youngsters in your clan

An important one that comes to mind right off the bat is how the clan deals with their deceased. Aera is the clan's undertaker, and leads said ceremony. Being sad by the loss is understandable and there's no shame in it, Aera will say; but they also remind that the deceased are now in good hands.

The god Avior will lead them to a peaceful rest, while Cygol will walk them back to a new life if they decide they'd like to start again.

The ceremony is often quiet, with the dead buried at the edge of the clan's territory. They're buried with something that was important to them - part of their collection, something they wore that was given by a loved one, something sentimental, etc. Warriors who weren't close with the deceased will stand watch alongside the enchanters, to protect the ceremony from dangerous energies that the Forest may try to send.

Unfortunately, because the Forest constantly shifts, the grave isn't likely to remain where it was placed - so rather than a traditional marker, Malcolm will plant a tree that they feel can be associated with the deceased.

Hatchlings are taught from a young age the importance of this ceremony, and they take part in it by creating small trinkets that can be hung from the sapling that Malcolm planted as a parting gift to the dead. The clan believes that these gifts tell Avior that the dead was a good soul and well-loved.

Trees with small trinkets prevent disruption to the already volatile Forest - while still allowing for some sort of marker.

(*note: my lore ignores site lore, so there's no risk of Emperors)

28. an artifact or magical item

If you take a look at almost every one of the dragons in my Collectors (main lair) tab, you might notice an apparel piece that just about everyone has in common...

The birdskull necklaces most of my clan wears are enchanted by Embra to keep the wearer safe from a lot of the Forest's malevolent energies. It's not fool-proof, of course, but the enchantment is enough to at least stop the most common/basic energies from being able to steal the wearer's soul.

The only exceptions are ancients/hatchlings for obvious reasons (they do wear them in-lore even if they can't in-game), Suni (has a more decorative necklace that's been enchanted instead since he's the clan's ambassador and wanted to look the part), and the triad that consists of Tages, Lyndel, and Gharil (altered souls, so the necklaces they wear instead allows them to maintain their draconic forms instead of the forms of the animals their souls were combined with.)

The reason for using bird skulls, specifically, is how easy it is for the clan to amass large quantiles of them.

43. who leads your clan

Darklight and Valor lead the clan as a pair. They weren't the original leaders, but took on that job when the founders both disappeared.

They share leadership duties fairly equally - albeit Valor is the sole one to vet new members to the clan due to 1) that she has the ability to sense when someone is lying, and 2) Darklight, being half-claimed (half of his soul was taken by the Forest, which often affects physical appearance like in his case) can be terrifying to those who haven't met him before. Valor is a much more inviting face.
