I’m baffled by that ask, isn’t trans dirk a popular reading? Trans Dave? Trans solid. There are lots of transmasc character readings that feel legitimate in homestuck, I feel

It's possible they forgot about Transmasc Dirk, because I certainly did. I forgot a lot of Transmasculine Readings + Headcanons that I literally agree with, and had to get reminded of most of them by my followers, lol.

Dave is a Trans Woman. Transmasculine Dave is a reading that is simply not grounded in text whatsoever. But she is a Trans Woman.

Jane is Transmasc. There's really good arguments for Nepeta and Dirk. Transmasc Sollux is fun, and Transmasc Caliborn is Technically Canon (though Transfem Calliope is a stronger reading). Dave is nowhere near the list of legitimate Transmasc readings, though.

Most legitimate Trans Readings in Homestuck are Transfeminine in some way, just due to the focus Homestuck places on its female characters and Misogyny + The Patriarchy as a theme. Anon was definitely correct about that - nothing about what they said was particularly confusing.

Many people, myself included, will assert Caliborn being Transmasculine as being "Technically Canon" due to how Cherubs work. Though, instead of being FTM (Female to Male), it'd be more accurate to call him XTM (Neither to Male) or CTM (Cherub to Male).

It is worth noting, however, that Calliope being Transfeminine has much, much stronger narrative basis, and the comic is absolutely framing her as being specifically MTF. Here's a really good post on the subject of Calliope's Transfemininity that puts it way more eloquently than I could:

Caliborn's a more "For Funzies" kind of deal for me, personally. I'm sure there's someone out there who has some narrative analysis for Caliborn being Transmasculine, but that person is not currently me.

Thinking about Homestuck recently it occurred to me that honestly the list of trans characters/characters with legitimate trans readings is almost exclusively moving away from masculinity, with Caliborn has the only major exception, while obviously this is influenced by Hussie doing the same, I wonder if their are any characters you can think of who defy this pattern.

None come to mind particularly if we're talking about my own original thoughts, though I've definitely seen people with some ideas about Aradia.

It's not thematically meaningful, so this is more of a fun Headcanon than a legitimate Trans Reading, but I'm a fan of Transmasc Sollux. I just think it's fun.

everytime i see someones list of characters they like from homestuck and there's no women i mostly assume they're at least a bit sexist. why can't you connect with the very well developed main female characters in the cast but you love gamzee?

Sovereignstuck characters are nothing if not products of their environment. That much is definitely true.

Their positions on the Hemospectrum are most definitely relevant to discussions. If that wasn't already clear, it'll be undeniable later.

Now that it's been a minute since the most recent Sovereignstuck Upd8, I have to say that one of my favorite parts of it were the absolutely batshit insane White People Moments in Emeric and Annomi's chatlogs. It's pivotal to appreciate how blinding their dialogue is.
