idk who needs to hear this but jane austen is genuinely really funny. people who think she writes boring books where nothing happens, i get why you think that because society has told you that but please enjoy this banger from just the first couple of chapters of pride & prejudice:

its kind of a shame how lame colin is in the romance department because i think there are a lot if things about penelope that are kind of compelling, like the idea that she’s invisible to people around her because she’s fat* and quiet which enables her to observe without being observed, the fact that she’s clearly smarter meaner and more vindictive than she lets on, the fact that she’s incredibly manipulative and assertive when she has to be, etc. idk i wish they’d lean into all that and have romance bloom with someone who notices her and finds her out instead of some guy she’s fixated on. i don’t even really need her to be gay necessarily like i think the printer romance that they gave eloise might have been more compelling in penelope’s case. yk if she met a working class man as her “alter” who saw her and liked her for who she is instead of who she pretends to be, that would have been good stuff potentially. but no its some guy who is deeply unremarkable

May Writing Challenge

This May I want to get back into writing. I’m not at all consistent. I’m at a point where I don’t feel like I can work on bigger things, because I can’t guarantee myself to keep working on it in a week from now. So I will take this month as a training month to get back into the habit of writing. I will do this by writing (or trying to write) 200 words every day. Topic is irrelevant. How great my writing is that day is irrelevant. Just 200 words written down. A habit taking 21 days to form was debunked, it does take a lot longer, but 31 days are a start I would say. These are already 140 words, so 200 words every day are hopefully manageable. You're more than welcome to join me if you like 😊
