5 writing tips for beginners
Writing or reading is not just a hobby or something to add on your resume , it's a skill that does not come to everyone. They say writing is limited to your imagination but what if you have that imagination but you can't pen it down on a paper. Writing takes a hell of a lot of skill. Every other guy can pen down what he or she feels but to convey the feelings within to the reader is a necessary skill. A blog, a story a poetry can be good if and only if the reader can feel and understand what the writer is trying to say. You can have the best of the best vocabulary, you can use the best idioms and proverbs but to make the reader undeerstand the feelings behind it is what really writing is. The first step to write is to pick up a pen and paper and write whatever it is you feel. It may be shit and it may end up with your floor littered with balls of paper. But that's a start. It's like music. A song becomes your favorite because it speaks to you. In the same way, let your words speak to the readers. Let your words convey your feelings. Let them feel the same emotions you felt while writing. It could be a love story, or a sob story ora rant. Let your words reach the readers heart. 1]Decide on what to write. Once you've got a hand on writing whatever it is you feel, start categorizing your thoughts. Your first blog or a story or a poetry is going to be shit but that's just practice. 2) CONTENT You'll do much better when you start onto something new. Categorize your thoughts, let the story roll in your mind like a lovely movie. Picturize all the whats and the whens and the hows and the wheres and write it down in points. You need not roll your story out in your mind and start jotting it down. You can jot down points and then blend those thoughts into one beautiful story. 3)Vocabulary Vocabulary plays a very big role in writing. When I say vocab I don't mean that you should have an impeccable vocabulary, it just means that you shoukd use the right word so that it's easy to understand. You need not have a sense of ostentatious words to get your thoughts across. You can just use simple easy words to make people understand your content and if you've noticed what I did there, then I guess my point is clear. 4)Storyline When writing the story, always create a storyline. Know that your story can finish in a month or in six or a year but always stick to your storyline. Just because you or enjoying a hot chocolate in the cold weather of december doesnt mean your characters aren't sweating their ass of in the summer. Stick to the storyline despite what weather, climate, or your mood is. 5)Characters. Your story can revolve among multiple of characters but make sure that readers dont get confused as to who is what. Stick to a number of characters and let the story roll. Apart from the protagonists, give each of them equal focus. Your focus on the characters will impact the focus of the reader. Do justice by each character. even though its in your head, in some way they are alive - for you and your reader as well. Note that your characters are not to be flawless. A flawed character is much more relatable than an immaculate character with a perfect life. A character should be like you and me, a normal person even if your character is the king of the world. On that note, I'd suggest you flip open a new notepad, pick up a pen and start writing. Even though writting seems like a lot of stress, it's actually pretty fun. Your characters can be a role model. When you think of a teenage love, you always think of Augustus waters and hazel grace. Know that these characters, your sttory is alive in the hearts of your readers. Make it fun, Let your story be a full of fan, laughter, tears and love. Not necessarily that you have to write a happy ending every single time but the fun you feel and have while writing let it reach your readers and you need not worry if they'll like it or not. If you are having fun writing, the readers will have fun reading. Happy writing - Namita Naik
