Little Talks - Beans and Pepper (Chicory : A Colorful Tale)

I'm so happy with it ! I made this as I was finishing Chicory's story and I love these two very much. First thing I see as I log off the game was the Little Talks Anything MAP Call.

So I went from Color Palette Game to Color Palette MAP.

I'm really happy with this one ! I never know how to place the text, but it was a nice exercise in composition. Why do I keep drawing water ?

I'm excited to see the complete project. I like its esthetic ! And every part I've seen so far looks delightful.

I have seen some doubters when I share this rarepair, but I wanted to get it out somewhere:I ship CrookedSnow, which is Snowfur x Crookedstar. (Kinda long paragraph ahead)

So I made an AU where, instead of meeting Bluepaw at that gathering, Crookedpaw met Snowpaw. They talked and got along really well, with Snowpaw finding Crookedpaw's broken jaw cool and Crookedpaw finding her acceptance of his injury a breath of fresh air. They meet up more like Bluestar and Oakheart did and end up falling for each other. They then have their first child, Whitekit, who is a white tom with brown patches the same as Crookedjaw's fur. Like tradition, Snowfur is not forced to reveal the father's true identity, but most cats believe it is either Thistleclaw or Thrushpelt. It is actually Crookedjaw, who is elated to have a kit and meets with him in secret a few times. Crookedjaw teaches Whitekit that no cat should be discriminated against for their disabilities, that Whitekit can love anybody he wants, and that he's proud of Whitekit even though he's in another clan. When Snowfur gets hit by the car like in canon, she passes out instead of dying and Bluestar and a Riverclan patrol including Oakheart take her to Brambelberry. A worried Crookedjaw watches over her as she lays in a coma, but she does wake up, and she returns to Thunderclan with some back and stomach scars and a not motherless son. Everything else goes like normal, and soon they have Silverstream, who has her father's brown stripes and her mother's white fur with some silver tint. Whitestorm and Silverstream do know about each other and are very friendly with each other, which causes Whitestorm to get pretty depressed when she ends up dying while kitting. After some time, when both cats are dead, Snowfur and Crookedstar happily and openly stay a couple in Starclan.

Moonflower has taken to annoying Hawkheart. For the first couple of years after he ascended to Starclan, at any time of the day, one could find her in his vicinity, being a mild nuisance.

Barkface was particularly confused when, upon his first visit to the Moonstone since his mentor's passing, Hawkheart's omens seemed to come with an echoing unharmonious musical rendition of themselves... all in a she-cat's voice?

The ways of Starclan are truly mysterious.

It took Russetfur exactly one implication that Lionblaze got her through sheer luck to goad him into a scuffle. Their daily life is then filled with taunting and competition. They're pretty evenly matched, not that either of them would admit it. When they're losing, it's all luck after all.

While Starclan residents would usually break any fights, it takes only a glance to see how much both of them are enjoying it. You gotta fill the time with something !

(I love peaceful endings so much you don't know how tempting it is to make them all unlikely friends)

all cats should get the bristlefrost treatment and disappear into nature, that sounds far better than whatever's going on in starclan. eternal jealousy for cats like silverstream and millie, getting to see all your ex wives fighting and having to pick one, taking care of babies forever if your kits died young, STAYING a wriggling blind kitten forever if you died young. sounds awful. i'd rather fade and become a beautiful stag or a falling leaf or some moss or something

Red Son - Brokenstar & Fireheart AU (Warrior Cats)

Someone over on wc-confessions compared Firestar to Superman, in a discussion about evil AUs with him.

I'm not sure whether they meant alternate evil Firestars were out of character (since they mentioned Firestar being the Clans' hope), or on the contrary if they meant that people making Firestar evil were doing the same thing DC did with Superman.

In any case, the comparison does feel very apt, since Superman does have an official villain AU, Superman : Red Son, in which his arrival to Earth made him land in USSR instead of the US. From there, he becomes a tool of propaganda and a mass weapon.

And indeed, if the origin for Superman becoming a villain is a matter of which nation was responsible for his upbringing... AUs of Firestar finding himself in Brokenstar's Shadowclan and becoming a villain are thematically very similar !

Anyway. I made this a separate post as the anon from that confession didn't like villain!Firestar AUs and it feels inconsiderate putting this in the notes of their own vent.

Adore - Mapleshade (Warrior Cats)

Really liking the color palette on this one. Red is my favorite, and I did not expect to like the neon green so much with it. It's jarring, but in a good way.

Thumbnail composition is not my forte. I probably should have included more elements from the MAP rather than just the color palette... but I'll take the water practice.
