Wealth and the spotlight has been all they’ve ever known. Their grandfather was among the first sorcerers to attempt to combine magic and cutting edge technology. From weapons to medical advancements, Venus Inc has done it all. They were handed over the company due to their talent in technomancy but their parents and grandfather still have the ultimate say on how things are done throughout the company. They often desire to have a normal and relatively unknown life. For many Mystica is a paradise, a refuge, but they find it to be their own personal hell. They often roam around the darker side of Mystica in hopes of being able to hide from their public life.

Whether long time friends of Serena or of the Stormmaul family, when she came into power, they respected the fiend tradition of acknowledging her new status. They understand that they have a duty to the university as well as the tower which students use to try and challenge Serena for rewards. For the most part there is rarely someone who gets past their level but there is one amusing mage that actually seems curious in fiends and doesn’t show distaste for them when they battle. Not to mention they’re pretty strong in battle and have bested them in battle enough times where they know what to expect. They admit, sometimes they just give the mage a pass through the tower just because the mage seems to have grown on them.

Arcane fiends marry off children to powerful families all the time. This setup was no different. In fact the two grew up together but when it was time to step up, they noticed Serena often failed to show responsibility while she liked to challenge traditional ways, they enjoyed the traditional standards. The two drifted apart especially when her father moved to Japan while they stayed in South Korea. They attended the funeral for Serena’s parents and assumed the two of them would take Mystica together but Serena was named as the head Arcane Fiend and with that right she denounced the engagement. Originally they were fine with keeping to South Korea and Serena would stay in Japan but the split has angered them and after some time they have returned to Mystica to try and find a way to topple Serena’s power.

As far as he knows, there’s not a single drop of magical blood in his family. He was born human from human parents who belonged to human families on both sides. He’s proud to be human, knowing very well the dangers that supernatural beings bring on the world. He’s even hesitant to trust some of his mage and sorcerer coworkers for that reason. Most people don’t like him but he doesn’t really care. His job is to keep Mystica safe and while he hates that he is surrounded by more supernatural than he has ever been before, he felt he was needed here. A foreigner but he has picked up various languages over the years and while many people would be looking for a place to settle down and raise a family, he can’t find himself doing that.

Whether mage or sorcerer, they came from a large magical upbringing. However, unlike most magic users, they chose not to pursue a position of power or law and order, instead, they sought to better themselves spiritually, mentally after experiencing traumatic events that led them to realize mages were created out of hatred and fear of supernaturals. They travelled around the world, visiting places of worship until one day, in the mountaintops of Tibet, they realized their true path in life was to help others, whether human or supernatural reach their own inner peace and aid in their own battle against their demons. They are wise beyond their years and while prefer to be pacificistic, if others are in danger, they will not hesitate to defend them.

Overview

TW: animal abuse, gore, blood

Inugami are sometimes born but more often created. Any time a dog dies with anger, pain or any kind of strife in their heart its energy gets turned into an inugami. They are often sadistic beings without an ounce of sympathy for anyone or anything. Only in the rare chance of being born from an inugami pair does the child have a chance to become sometimes more than the hollow remains of a dead dog.

They come in various forms, but common characteristics of an inugami is a red ring around their collar, which is dyed red from the blood of their first kill. They also tend to have glowing red eyes and the dog looks malnourished with a visible ribcage and nonstop drool.

Inugami abilities are:

Human form: Inugami are able to take a human form which is always their first kill. Their human form bears a reddened scar around their neck like inugami do so they often cover that up with a scarf or a collar.

Illusions: Inugami can create auditory illusions making you hear things that aren’t there. They prefer to use your own voice and twist up your own thoughts with self-doubt.

Possession: Inugami can possess humans for an extended amount of time often causing the person to suffer until they ultimately die. They are not easy to remove and always require an exorcism.

Pain Threshold: Inugami can withstand extreme amounts of pain. They are known to fight with broken bones and oozing wounds. They inflict pain to their host during a possession that they feel too - yet they always come away alive.

Blood-letting: By drawing their own blood they’re able to weaponize it by hardening it to create sharp projectiles and when making contact it slowly infects the victim’s nervous system and can cause death if not treated correctly.

Facts

A majority of inugami are varying degrees of mute in their human form and they speak “telepathically” with others through their auditory illusions. They also have trouble swallowing.

Some created inugami have masters who they are “loyal” to. It’s not a healthy relationship. Sometimes inugami are kept for generations.

They carry around a ball that acts like any normal bouncing ball. If they have a master, the master holds it but an independant inugami is the sole possessor of the ball and are highly protective of it. It is said to hold their spiritual energy.

In order to kill an inugami you must decapitate its head and take it to a place of worship and burn it with spiritual fire along with a praise chant. Common ones are “you were a good boy, now be at peace” or “good dog, go to sleep”. Those who do this with the rest of the body nearby often catch faint movement from the tail before the rest of the body turns to ash.

Overview

Fox spirits are known throughout East Asian culture each with varying names. For example, in Chinese their name is Huli jing, Gumiho in Korean and Kitsune in Japanese. They are the same thing with the only difference being where the fox spirit originated. Given that the location is set in Japan, Kitsune will be considered the catch all East Asian Fox Spirit.

Each kitsune originally has a fox form, it is their natural state and the look varies from kitsune to kitsune. Some have unnatural white fur with red colorations while others have more natural colored fur. A commonality is their multiple tails, tails that grow as a kitsune ages. Each two hundred years they grow an extra tail and are nine-tailed at 1,600 years old at which point the kitsune often spends their time meditating to reach enlightenment.

Kitsune abilities include:

Human form: Some kitsunes are more gifted in creating their human form while others sometimes just copy the form of a human they saw. So sometimes related kitsunes look nothing alike.

Possession: The tell-tale sign of a kitsune possession are glowing yellow eyes. Some kitsune no longer practice possession while others do it in secret like any other crime.

Dream walking: Kitsunes are also able to enter someone’s mind when they are asleep and give them horrible nightmares or good ones depending on their intention. In this dream realm kitsunes have complete control over the world and can create horrifying dreamscapes.

Illusions: Kitsunes can create various illusions, the older they are however, the more “real” they can make their illusion. For example a nine-tailed kitsune can create wealth out of nothing and it becomes the real thing. Illusions can be broken through magical spells.

Inari foxes are ones who have pledged to be good for humanity, to protect living beings. These are the ones that people have built statues for to protect shrines and temples and homes. Most take their position seriously and hold great honor in it. Their possessions do not last as long as possessions done by a nogitsune. The most they can last is a few hours. After, they are either kicked out of the body or the human dies.

Nogitsune foxes are ones who have no interest in protecting humanity. They are trickster foxes who enjoy harming others and seeing them fail. They are unable to create an original human form so they often take the form of someone they’ve seen and kill them to take their life.

The elemental magic a kitsune can do depends on the fox but a list of elements they can manipulate are: 

Wind - They are able to create winds, control their breathing as well as influence some weather patterns like tornados and snowstorms. Kitsunes with this ability also are able to move relatively fast as they move with the wind not against it.

Mountain - These focus on the ground itself, the dirt particles, the minerals. Anything solid and underground they can manipulate to some form. This element allows for the control of the mountains, and those that live in it. With this, kitsune can cause earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and landslides.

Light - This elemental ability can go one of two ways, either through fire and allow the kitsune to manipulate and create fire or lightning, allowing the user to create shockwaves and manipulate electrical currents.

River - They can create water and manipulate its liquid form only. They can heal others with their element with older kitsune being able cause very strong storms, flooding, and tsunamis.

Forest - This focuses on plant-life, they are able to manipulate trees and flowers. Often able to cultivate magical plants and create concoctions of various effects with them.

Dark - Also called “void”, they are able to cloak themselves in darkness to hide in the shadows (which they teleport through) or drain life energy and cause illnesses.

Facts

Some people, particularly East Asian werebeasts still revere fox spirits to this day considering their kind to be as close to an animal god as they can have.

Kitsunes can be killed by cutting off all their tails. It is best to cut them off either all in one swipe or soon after the other because given enough time a kitsune can regenerate a tail that has been cut off. A one-tailed kitsune requires a severed tail and head.

Often those who have been possessed by kitsune or are wary against them choose to have dogs for protection as kitsunes prefer to not be anywhere near dogs.

To make a kitsune favorable to you, all you have to do is offer them some fried tofu. However, once you feed a kitsune they may feel bound to you in some way and won’t leave until you let them give you a favor.

Well, we don't have any elementals or werebeasts yet but honestly any species would be fine. Probably a mage with something other than a physical discipline though.

As for personalities it's the same, any kind of personality. We already have various personalities in the game so really, any kind is fine!

Overview

Cugamon is a very stealthy and careful monster. With its black scales and black fur and bright red eyes it makes it the perfect hunter in the night. They typically roost in tall trees able to sense passerbys and drop in on them. When they are especially angered their eyes glow red and leave a trail red streaks when it moves - if the person is not able to see in the dark all they will be able to see are red streaks before the cugamon attacks.

Its tail is its most powerful weapon, almost prehensile. It is able to erect large spikes which then can be flung at their prey. When the tail spikes hit, they create a wound that pulls blood out of the body, making them very dangerous and unless the mage or sorcerer uses a healing spell quickly, they will bleed out. While able to be stunned with a sharp sound, it only gives a small window of time to either deal a deadly bow and find a quick escape because once they return back to normal they will be enraged.

Facts

They are capable of jumping long distances and tall heights at great speed making escape very slim. If a cuga attacks you, it is either you kill it or it kills you.

Despite their ferocity they were hunted to near extinction but they have returned but for the most part stay away from human communities.

Their sizes range from about 70-80 feet. Despite their large size they easily sneak up on you. Their only telltale signs are their red eyes and their tail that can produce a rattlesnake like sound - however these are things that are only obvious when it is already enraged.

Note: due to the rareness of this monster you must clear it with mod before using.

Overview

The most prominent feature of a dodomon is its massive jaw. Its jaw helps it break into rock, often storing chunks of rock in its mouth. Their habitat is mainly caves and caverns (often believed to be the ones who created said caves to begin with). They are pretty docile creatures not attacking unless they are attacked first. They were hunted almost to extinction as they kept on moving onto human territory and destroying their towns. After a conservation effort, dodomons have returned to various areas.

When made aggressive it’s lower jaw will glow orange as when rocks touch its saliva they become explosive. It uses these powerful explosive projectiles against predators and other aggressors. When you get hit by the rocks not only will it damage you considerably but its explosive nature lingers on the person continuing to hurt them unless they manage to shake off the blast or have a protection spell against it.

Facts

Its weakest point is also its jaw. If timed correctly with a powerful enough blow, a hit to the jaw will cause the rocks to prematurely explode, damaging the dodomon.

Dodomon can reach an average of 60 feet, its size alone being enough to make people stay away.

However, some people find the dodomon’s appearance to be endearing and it doesn’t help that they are pretty docile unless provoked. It’s not recommended you touch one but one will simply pass you by without a second thought.

Note: due to the rareness of this monster you must clear it with mod before using.
