The Squeeze That Stayed
Tumblr media
(Continuation of “Electricity Between the Lines”)
Ruby lay in bed that night, eyes fixed on the ceiling, her heart still fluttering like she’d just come off stage.
She kept replaying it.
That moment.
When Taemin’s fingers had gently, deliberately, squeezed hers during the choreography.
When she had squeezed back without even thinking.
And the way he’d looked at her afterward—calm on the surface, but his eyes said something else. Something searching.
She groaned, grabbing her pillow and pressing it to her face.
“What does it mean?! Was it just instinct? Am I imagining this? Or… does he know?”
Her phone buzzed.
A message from NingNing, one of her best friends and one of the few people she’d told about the collab.
Princess Ning 🦋
How’s dancing with your dream man going lol 👀
Ruby buried her face deeper into the pillow before replying.
Ruby 🌟
it’s actually torture
he’s too nice
too perfect
he squeezed my hand mid-dance today, and I’m spiraling
Princess Ning 🦋
OMGGGGG WHAT!
Squeeze as in “partner grip” or SQUEEZE, squeeze
Ruby 🌟
squeeze squeeze.
like soft. warm. not just choreography.
I might combust
Princess Ning 🦋
😭😭😭 you are SO down bad
maybe he’s finally making his move
do NOT panic
do not run
let it happen!!
Ruby sighed. That was the problem. Letting it happen meant being brave—and every time she got close to Taemin, her nerves short-circuited.
Still… she couldn’t deny that things were changing.
Tumblr media
The next day, she arrived at the practice studio early, headphones in, quietly stretching on the polished floor. She expected to be alone for a while—but to her surprise, Taemin was already there.
He was seated by the mirror, scrolling through his phone and sipping on a smoothie.
Ruby paused in the doorway. “You’re early.”
He looked up, a soft smile tugging at his lips. “So are you.”
She entered slowly, tugging out one earbud. “Couldn’t sleep.”
“Same,” he admitted. “Wanted to run the steps a little more. Clear my head.”
There was a quiet beat between them as she sat nearby and started warming up.
Taemin watched her for a second before setting down his drink. “Ruby…”
She looked up, heart already jumping at the sound of her name.
“I’ve been meaning to ask,” he began, voice gentle, “are you okay with how close the choreography is?”
She blinked. “What do you mean?”
“I know the routine’s intense. The lifts, the hand stuff, the eye contact… it’s a lot. I just want to make sure you’re comfortable.”
Ruby was quiet for a second, then offered a small, sincere smile. “I am. I trust you.”
Something flickered in his eyes. “Good,” he said softly. “Because I like dancing with you.”
Ruby’s breath caught.
Before she could reply, their choreographer entered and practice officially began—but the words hung in the air, replaying in her head again and again.
They worked for hours, refining transitions and adding nuance to their final pose. Their bodies moved in perfect sync, brushing close, spinning apart, then colliding again with silent rhythm. Ruby tried to focus—but every time their hands touched or eyes met, she felt that same low hum in her chest.
During a break, she sat near the fan, gulping water and trying to cool her face.
Taemin walked over with a fresh water bottle, handing it to her. “You good?”
“Just overheated,” she mumbled.
He crouched beside her. “You know,” he said, wiping sweat from his brow with a towel, “I wasn’t sure about doing a duet stage this year. Thought I’d go solo.”
Ruby glanced at him in surprise. “Really? Why?”
He looked at her then, something open and honest behind his tired smile. “Because it’s hard to find someone who matches my energy. Who gets it. The pressure, the instinct, the spark…”
Ruby’s heart drummed louder.
“…But when the company suggested you, I said yes immediately.”
“You did?” she asked, stunned.
He nodded. “I’ve always noticed you. Even before we ever spoke. You’re focused, but gentle. You listen more than you talk. You take care of people without trying to impress anyone.”
Ruby looked down, her throat tight. “That’s… really kind of you to say.”
He leaned a little closer. “It’s not kindness. It’s just truth.”
Just then, her phone buzzed—Taeyong, probably. She ignored it.
“Ruby,” Taemin said suddenly, voice low and careful. “Can I ask you something personal?”
She met his eyes. “Yeah.”
“That hand squeeze yesterday… Did it feel like something to you?”
Silence. Her lips parted, unsure what to say—but her face spoke volumes.
“I thought so,” he said softly, answering his own question. “Because it did for me too.”
She felt like she could cry. Or faint. Or both.
“But I don’t want to rush you,” he added quickly. “I know we’re colleagues. I just… didn’t want to pretend anymore. Not when it feels like something real is there.”
Ruby exhaled slowly, trying to steady her heartbeat. “It does. Feel real.”
They stared at each other for a moment, quiet and full of unspoken emotion.
Taemin smiled—a little relieved, a little giddy. “Then let’s keep dancing. And see where it takes us.”
Ruby nodded, cheeks glowing pink. “Okay.”
Tumblr media
Later that evening, Baekhyun was lounging in the SM cafe when Taemin passed by.
The older idol raised an eyebrow. “Well? How’d it go?”
Taemin grinned, faintly flushed. “You were right. She really didn’t have a clue.”
Baekhyun smirked. “Told you. Girl’s oblivious when it comes to guys.”
“She squeezed my hand again today,” Taemin said, almost dreamily.
“Progress,” Baekhyun said with a proud pat on his shoulder. “But remember—clear signals. She’s not going to assume anything.”
“Got it,” Taemin said, walking off with a bounce in his step.
Baekhyun shook his head fondly. “Ah, young love. So obvious. So painfully slow.”
He pulled out his phone and texted Ruby.

Only For You
Tumblr media
It was the kind of late spring evening Seoul did best—cool but not cold, with a soft breeze that carried the scent of street food, blooming trees, and city life coming to rest. Lights from cafés and little boutique shops spilled onto the streets, warm and golden, as music drifted faintly from a busker down the block.
Felix and Ruby strolled side by side, as they often did on nights like this. No schedules. No cameras. No pressure. Just the two of them, wandering through their favorite corner of the city like "friends" who couldn’t get enough of each other. Ruby wore an oversized hoodie with a baseball cap, her long hair tucked behind her ears. Felix had gone with a black beanie and round glasses, his hoodie slung under a denim jacket. They looked effortlessly cool—until you looked closer and saw the way Ruby kept giggling at Felix’s exaggerated Aussie accent, or the way his eyes kept straying to her face when she wasn’t looking.
“Okay,” Felix said, nudging her shoulder with his playfully. “Real talk. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?”
“Seriously?” Ruby scrunched her nose. “Out of all the deep philosophical questions you could ask me, you go for that?”
“Don’t dodge. It’s important,” he said with mock gravity, eyes dancing behind the rim of his beanie. “This is a deal-breaker question.”
Ruby laughed. “Fine. Vegan tteokbokki. Spicy. With rice balls.”
Felix clutched his heart dramatically. “And here I thought you were gonna say something like, I don’t know, me.”
“Oh, please,” she smirked, flicking his arm. “You’re not even gluten-free.”
He laughed, that warm, deep, uniquely Felix laugh, and she couldn’t help but smile. She loved that sound.
They reached their usual hangout spot—a quiet park tucked between two tall apartment buildings, with a bench under a tree that always seemed to bloom too early or too late. It was their spot. No one else really came here.
They sat in silence for a few moments, sharing a warm drink from the nearby café. Ruby took the first sip, wrinkled her nose at how hot it still was, and handed it to him.
He took it easily, like it was normal to share everything.
And with them, it kind of was.
She glanced at him from the side. “You’re quiet tonight.”
Felix blinked, then looked out at the dark sky peeking through the tree branches. “Just thinking.”
“About?”
He hesitated, then turned to her fully. “Do you… ever call anyone oppa?”
Ruby blinked. The question caught her off guard. “Huh? Why?”
He shrugged, feigning casual, but his fingers were fidgeting slightly with the coffee lid. “I’ve noticed… You don’t really say it. Not even to guys older than you or when you talk about your brothers.”
Ruby smirked. “That’s because it’s weird coming from me.”
“I don’t think it would be,” he said softly.
Ruby tilted her head. “I mean, isn't that what you call an older guy you’re close with. Usually, girls say it to their older brothers, friends, or… You know, boyfriends.”
He looked uncharacteristically shy, scratching the back of his neck. “I was just wondering… Would you ever call me that?”
She blinked. “Call you what?”
“Oppa.” His ears were red.
She looked at him more closely now. His expression wasn’t teasing. It was… hopeful?
“…You want me to call you oppa?”
He met her gaze. “Just once.”
Ruby was quiet. Her heart beat a little faster. She hadn’t expected that at all. Her first instinct was to tease him, laugh it off, but something about the look in his eyes made her pause. It wasn’t just a joke to him. Not really.
She and Felix weren’t dating. Not officially. They never crossed the line. But the closeness—the lingering glances, the way his hand always found the small of her back in crowded rooms, the way she remembered the exact scent of his shampoo—all of it was starting to blur that line.
And now he was asking this.
“You don’t even speak Korean half the time,” she teased, trying to keep things light even though her pulse was skipping.
“I know what oppa means,” he said. “It’s not just about age. It’s about feeling close. Trusted. It’s… affectionate.”
Ruby looked down at her lap. “I don’t really use it because it feels… special, I guess. Like it should mean something.”
“Exactly,” he whispered.
The silence that followed was heavy, but not uncomfortable. Just… full. With unsaid things.
Felix leaned forward, his shoulder brushing hers. “You don’t have to. I’m not asking because I want you to say it like it’s nothing. I just…”
He paused. Ruby looked up at him.
“I want to know what it sounds like when you say it to me.”
His voice had dropped to something soft and vulnerable, a tone he reserved only for her. It did something to her chest—made it tighten and ache a little in the best way.
Her voice was quiet. “You’re really gonna make me do this?”
He smiled, but it wasn’t his usual cheeky grin. It was warm. Gentle. “I’m not making you. But yeah… I’d really like it.”
She sighed dramatically, earning a little chuckle from him. “Fine. But only because you bought me hot chocolate and didn’t judge me for eating three rice balls.”
Felix held a hand to his heart. “My lady.”
Ruby took a deep breath, then turned slightly to face him. He was already watching her, his expression open, eyes bright but soft.
And for a moment, it felt like the city disappeared.
“Felix…” she began, a faint blush already creeping up her neck.
He tilted his head, waiting.
“…Oppa.”
The word left her lips softer than she expected—barely above a whisper. But it was there. Clear. Gentle. Sincere.
Felix didn’t say anything for a moment. His eyes widened just slightly, and his lips parted like he wasn’t sure if he’d heard it right. And then—he smiled.
Not just any smile.
That smile. The one that came from somewhere deep. The one he only ever wore when she did something that melted him.
“…Say it again?”
“Why?” she asked softly.
He shifted closer. “Because I like the way it sounds when you say it.”
Ruby groaned, but she was grinning now. “No! You said once!”
“But it was so—” he shook his head, clearly flustered. “You have to know how cute that was.”
“I will literally walk away right now.”
“Oppa,” he repeated, mimicking her voice, teasing her now. “You said oppa~ like this—”
“Felix!” she squeaked, covering her face.
But he gently tugged her hand away, his touch soft.
“Hey,” he said, voice low. “Thank you.”
She met his eyes again, surprised by the sincerity there.
“For what?”
“For trusting me enough to say it. Even once.”
They sat there for a while longer, fingers just barely touching between them on the bench. Neither of them moved to leave.
“You know I’m not the type to get all mushy, right?” said ,Ruby.
Felix chuckled. “You literally called me your sunshine boy last week.”
“That was once,” she huffed.
“And you said it with sparkles in your eyes.”
She rolled those eyes, but she was smiling now. Her heart thudded like a drum, louder than before.
Felix leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. “Just once more, Ruby. Say it one more time. For me?”
She bit her lip, cheeks blooming pink.
He waited.
“Felix…” she started, voice barely above a whisper. “You’re really going to make me do this, huh?”
He nodded, grinning. “I’ll owe you. Big time.”
She let out a soft sigh, eyes flitting to his lips for just a second before she looked up into his warm brown eyes.
Then, very quietly—so quietly he almost missed it—she whispered, “Oppa…”
Felix froze. His heart might’ve exploded.
She looked away immediately, covering her face with her free hand. “Oh my god, that was so cringey—”
“Wait—” He caught her wrist, gently pulling it down. “Say it again.”
“No!”
“Ruby,” he whined, face lighting up, “you don’t understand how cute that was—my soul left my body again.”
“Stop!” she laughed, hitting his chest, but he was already spinning her under his arm like they were dancing, making her laugh harder.
When he let go, her cheeks were flushed and her hair slightly messy under her cap.
Felix leaned in, closer than before, eyes soft. “You know, in Korea… when someone calls a guy oppa, it kinda means they’re close. That they trust them.”
Ruby nodded slowly, her teasing smile fading into something gentler.
“I want to be that person to you,” he said quietly. “The one you trust. The one you run to when you’re tired. The one who stays.”
Her lips parted slightly. “Felix…”
He reached up, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
“I’m not asking for everything,” he said. “Just… let me stay close. Let me be yours, in whatever way you want.”
She took a shaky breath, then leaned in and rested her forehead against his.
And for a moment, the world fell away.
“I already trust you,” she whispered. “More than I thought I would.”
His hand found hers again, and this time, they held on like it meant something. Because it did.
After a long pause, Ruby grinned up at him.
“You’re never gonna shut up about the oppa thing, are you?”
Felix beamed. “Not a chance.”
She shook her head with a smile—and for the rest of the walk, every now and then, she’d nudge him and whisper it again, just to make his heart race.
“Oppa.”
And it did. Every time.
Tumblr media
It had been three days since Ruby first called Felix oppa.
Three days since he’d replayed the moment in his head over and over, with every variation of her tone and smile looping like his favorite song. And three days since he stopped being able to think clearly whenever she so much as looked at him with that playful sparkle in her eyes.
It was early evening now, the sky brushed with watercolor blues and soft pinks as the sun dipped low. The two of them were in Felix’s dorm—quiet, cozy, and familiar. His living room was filled with soft lighting and random little things they’d collected from their hangouts over the past year. A Polaroid photo of a blurry Ruby trying to photobomb Felix’s peace sign was stuck to the side of his fridge. A candle she had picked out (“It smells like rainy days,” she’d said) sat half-burned on the coffee table. Her hoodie—well, one of his she’d stolen—was draped over the back of his couch.
They were sprawled out together on a thick blanket on the floor, eating snacks and watching an old Studio Ghibli movie with English subtitles and Korean dubs.
Ruby was lying on her stomach, chin propped on her arms, chewing on a rice cracker. “You’ve seen this like, ten times.”
Felix, lying beside her, turned his head. “I like watching it with you.”
She smirked but didn’t respond, though her cheeks flushed a soft pink.
He nudged her arm gently. “Do you remember what you said to me the other night?”
Ruby turned her head slowly, eyes narrowed with suspicion. “Depends. Am I about to get teased?”
He laughed. “No. Promise.”
She gave him a mock-suspicious look. “You’re talking about the oppa thing, aren’t you?”
His smile widened.
“I knew it,” she groaned, rolling onto her back dramatically, covering her face with both hands.
“You started it,” Felix reminded her. “You said it first.”
“Yeah, well. That was supposed to be a one-time thing.”
“You said it again right after,” he teased gently, nudging her side.
Ruby peeked at him through her fingers. “…That doesn’t mean anything.”
“It does to me,” he said, and this time, his voice was soft. Honest.
She slowly lowered her hands and turned toward him.
He was already watching her, his expression unreadable—but his eyes, deep and warm, said everything.
“Ruby…” he murmured. “When you say it, it doesn’t just make my heart flutter—it makes me feel… close to you. Like I get to be part of that soft space you don’t let everyone into.”
Her throat tightened just a little. It was true—she didn’t call many people oppa. In fact, most of the time, she avoided it. It felt too intimate, too personal. Too much like crossing a line.
But with Felix… it had slipped out like a secret her heart had been holding for months.
She didn’t answer right away. Instead, she sat up slightly, leaning on one hand. “So if I call you that again, what happens? You gonna brag to all your hyungs?”
“Nope,” Felix said, matching her posture, mirroring her. “I’m gonna keep it all to myself. Because it’s only for me, right?”
Her lips curved slowly into a smile. “Cocky much?”
He leaned in, barely a few inches from her now. “Only when it comes to you.”
That shut her up. Just for a second.
Then, very softly—so softly he almost didn’t catch it—she whispered, “Oppa.”
Felix sucked in a breath.
She said it differently this time. Not shy, not joking.
Warm.
Confident.
Meant.
He reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers like it was the most natural thing in the world. “Say it again.”
“Nope.”
“Please?”
She laughed, but let him hold her hand. “You’re insufferable.”
“And you love it.”
Ruby tilted her head. “Do I?”
He leaned closer. “Do you?”
Her heart thudded, but she didn’t back away. “Maybe.”
The air between them shifted.
The movie kept playing in the background, forgotten. The candle flickered beside them, casting soft shadows on their faces. His thumb brushed across the back of her hand absentmindedly, over and over like he didn’t even realize he was doing it.
And then Ruby, in the gentlest voice she’d ever used with him, whispered again, “Oppa…”
Felix didn’t respond with words.
Instead, he reached up with his free hand, brushing her hair back behind her ear like he’d wanted to for days. She didn’t flinch. She leaned into it.
Then—quietly, deliberately—he leaned forward and kissed her forehead. Just there. Just once.
When he pulled back, his eyes searched hers. “Can I stay here? Like this? With you?”
She nodded, eyes soft. “You already are.”
They didn’t need to define it—not yet. Not with labels. Not with pressure. They were just them, and that was more than enough.
Later that night, when she was curled up on his couch in his hoodie, half-asleep with her head resting on his shoulder, she murmured it again.
“Oppa…”
And this time, he smiled and whispered back, “Yeah, Ruby?”
She just hummed in response, drowsy and content, like she didn’t need to say anything else.
And maybe she didn’t.
Because in that moment, Felix knew he had her heart, one quiet word at a time.

Electricity Between the Lines
Tumblr media
The SM practice building buzzed with activity as dancers rehearsed in mirrored rooms and music poured out from studio speakers. Ruby sat on the floor of one of the quieter dance studios, her water bottle in hand, cheeks flushed from the intense choreography she had just run through with Taemin. He had left momentarily for a wardrobe fitting, giving her a brief moment of quiet. Her legs stretched out in front of her as she leaned back on her palms, chest still rising and falling steadily.
“You look like you’re questioning your entire life right now,” a familiar voice teased from the doorway.
She turned her head to see Baekhyun walking in with his signature boyish grin, a drink in each hand.
“Baekhyun-hyung,” she groaned softly, already knowing she’d be in for some teasing. “Don’t start.”
He handed her a cold drink and sat beside her, cross-legged. “You’re drenched, your eyes are foggy, and you’ve been sighing like it’s your last day on Earth. Either you hate this choreo or… is this about Taemin?”
Ruby’s eyes widened. “Wh-what? No!”
Baekhyun gave her a look, clearly not buying it. “Ruby. Please. I’ve known you for years. I know what your ‘no’ sounds like when it really means, ‘Yes, and I’m spiraling inside.’”
She laughed softly, finally taking a sip of the drink. “Okay… maybe a little. It’s just—this stage is huge. It’s Taemin. I admire him so much, like so much, and now I have to perform this intense choreography with him where we’re practically breathing the same air.”
Baekhyun smiled, more gently this time. “You’re doing great though. Everyone’s already buzzing about your chemistry on stage. You two look like you’ve been dancing together forever.”
“I know, and that’s what’s making it harder,” she admitted, cheeks tinged with pink. “Every time we do a run-through, I feel like... something’s happening. And then I panic and overthink everything and probably look like a malfunctioning robot.”
Baekhyun laughed, nudging her shoulder. “You mean you feel something? That’s not a bad thing.”
“It’s not?” she asked, hesitant.
He tilted his head, softening his expression. “Ruby, you’re supposed to feel something. That’s how you make the audience feel it too. And between you and me…” He leaned in a little. “You’ve had a crush on the guy even before your trainee days, haven’t you?”
Ruby let out a flustered squeak. “Hyung!
“Don’t even deny it! I remember when you used to avoid looking at him in the cafeteria like he’d melt you with one glance. It was so painfully cute.”
She covered her face. “I hate you.”
“No, you love me. I’m your favorite SM sunbae. And don’t worry—I won’t tell him.”
“Thanks,” she muttered through her fingers.
“But,” he added with a mischievous smirk, “I will tell you this: if you like him—and I mean really like him—you need to stop being so scared. Taemin isn’t some unreachable legend. He’s a guy. A guy who respects you. And from what I can see, there’s a little spark there. Maybe more.”
Ruby’s heart fluttered a bit. “You really think so?”
Baekhyun smiled warmly. “I know so. And if you don’t figure it out soon, I’m going to start personally pushing your heads together like you’re Barbie and Ken dolls.”
She burst out laughing, grateful for him. “You’re the worst.”
“Correction. I’m the best older brother you never asked for.”
Tumblr media
Later that afternoon, Baekhyun wandered through the hallways of the building, looking for his stylist. Instead, he ran into Taemin, who had just finished his fitting and was flipping through his phone outside the studio.
“Oh hey, hyung,” Taemin greeted with a small smile.
“Yo.” Baekhyun eyed him casually. “You free for a second?”
Taemin nodded. “Yeah, what’s up?”
Baekhyun walked beside him down the hallway. “I heard rehearsals are going well.”
“They are,” Taemin said, glancing down at his hands. “Ruby’s... something else on stage. She’s focused. Really expressive. You can tell she pours herself into it.”
Baekhyun nodded. “That’s Ruby. What about you? You’ve done dozens of collabs. How’s this one feel?”
Taemin hesitated, something unreadable passing through his expression. “Different.”
“Different how?”
He stopped walking, leaning against the wall, arms folded. “Honestly?” he said, voice quieter now. “I get nervous around her.”
Baekhyun raised an eyebrow.
“It’s weird,” Taemin continued. “I’ve done sensual choreography before. But this—when we touch during the dance, when she looks at me during those moments—I feel something. Like… literal electricity. I can’t explain it.”
Baekhyun’s teasing smile faded into something more curious.
“It’s like the air shifts,” Taemin confessed. “And I catch myself watching her more than I should. I don’t know how to approach it. She’s always polite and kind, but… I can’t read her.”
Baekhyun let out a low chuckle. “Oh, buddy.”
“What?”
“You don’t have to read her. I’ll save you the trouble. She likes you.”
Taemin blinked. “What?”
“Ruby likes you. A lot. She’s admired you for years. That shyness? That quiet stiffness when you’re close? It’s not disinterest. It’s ‘I’m-panicking-because-he’s-right-there’ energy.”
Taemin stared, speechless.
Baekhyun leaned in. “But here’s the thing. If you want more than just a colleague relationship with her, you’re going to have to make the move. And you’re going to have to make it very obvious. Because that girl is so blind when it comes to guys liking her, it’s tragic.”
Taemin laughed under his breath. “How do you know?”
Baekhyun tilted his head and smirked. “Do you think you’re the only guy chasing after her? Please. Ruby’s got like most of the idols in the industry wrapped around her pinky, and she doesn’t even realize it.”
Taemin's eyes widened slightly, clearly surprised.
“I’m serious,” Baekhyun added. “If you don’t say something or do something, someone else will swoop in and steal her away. And believe me, you do not want that regret.”
Taemin rubbed the back of his neck, looking slightly dazed. “Wow.”
Baekhyun clapped him on the back. “You’ve got the upper hand. You’re the one she already sees as something special. Just… don’t overthink it. Let it happen. And make her feel safe. If she knows it’s okay to like you back, she will.”
Taemin smiled slowly. “Thanks, hyung.”
“Don’t mention it. But if you do end up dating her…” Baekhyun raised a warning finger, playful but protective. “You break her heart, and I’ll choreograph a solo stage just to roast you in front of a live audience.”
Taemin laughed. “Duly noted.”
Tumblr media
Later that week, rehearsals continued—but something had subtly shifted.
Ruby noticed it first in the smallest things: the way Taemin would stay a little longer after each practice, the way his hand lingered just a second more when helping her up from the floor, or how he’d glance her way between takes, like he was trying to say something without words.
During a break, they sat side by side against the wall, gulping down water. Taemin glanced at her, his voice quiet and unhurried.
“You’re improving a lot,” he said. “Each run feels stronger than the last.”
Ruby smiled, cheeks slightly flushed—not just from the workout. “That means a lot coming from you.”
He looked at her for a beat longer than usual. “I mean it. You have this… energy when you dance. It pulls people in.”
Her eyes flickered to her lap. “You’re the one who makes it easier.”
Taemin tilted his head. “Really?”
She nodded, shyly but sincerely. “You make me want to match your level. Not just because you’re Taemin… but because you’re kind. You make space for people.”
There was a pause—soft, warm, and a little bit full of something unsaid.
Taemin turned his head back toward the mirror, letting the quiet stretch. Then, with a small chuckle, he muttered, “You really have no idea what kind of effect you have on people, do you?”
Ruby blinked. “What?”
He shook his head, smiling to himself. “Nothing.”
Before she could press further, their choreographer called them back in. Ruby stood and offered her hand to help him up. He took it, fingers brushing lightly against hers, a faint current sparking between them again. This time, they both felt it—and neither pulled away too quickly.
As they moved to the center of the room, Ruby tried to shake the feeling, but her thoughts were racing.
Across the room, Baekhyun passed by the doorway and caught a glimpse of them—her quiet smile, Taemin’s focused expression, and the unspoken something lingering in the air.
He smirked knowingly and muttered to himself, “I gave you the playbook, Taemin. Now make the move, or I swear, I’m going to start taking applications.”
And with that, he walked away, whistling.
Back in the studio, as the music began again, Ruby didn’t know what the future held. But she danced with a little more confidence—and when Taemin’s hand met hers mid-routine, he gave it the lightest squeeze.
This time, she squeezed back.
And that was enough—for now.

Blazer & Blushes
Tumblr media
The morning sun in Paris filtered gently through the hotel curtains, casting golden hues across Ruby’s suite. She was already awake, sitting by the window in her silk robe, makeup-free and glowing, her phone in hand. A smile tugged at her lips as she reread the latest message from Felix.
Felix 🐥 [08:17 AM]:
“Are you sure you’re ready to see me strut down the runway? You might fall in love 👀😏”
She giggled softly, thumbs tapping quickly in reply.
Ruby [08:18 AM]:
“A little too late, I already did 😜 But yes!! I’m so excited to see you walk! You’re going to look amazing, I just know it 🖤✨”
Felix 🐥 [08:19 AM]:
“Only if you’re watching 🥹”
They continued texting all morning—sweet, playful exchanges filled with emojis, teasing, and genuine anticipation. The Louis Vuitton 2025 show was always a spectacle, but this year felt extra special. Not just because Ruby had been personally invited again, or because she’d be sitting next to the fashion elite, but because Felix would be walking the runway.
As the afternoon approached, the buzz outside the venue grew louder. Paparazzi flashes painted the cobblestone streets, and fans lined up, holding signs for their favorite stars.
Felix arrived first, stepping out of the sleek black car in a structured LV suit, his hair slicked back in effortless style. The moment he walked onto the carpet, cameras clicked furiously. He gave a few waves, posed briefly, then disappeared inside.
Moments later, Ruby arrived.
Wearing a custom Louis Vuitton off-shoulder mini dress with a slight shimmer, her long black hair cascaded down her back, and her boots clacked softly on the pavement. She waved and smiled, eyes sparkling.
Just past the entrance, Felix stood chatting with a stylist inside the venue.
Ruby caught sight of him instantly.
“Lix!” she called brightly.
He turned, his face lighting up the moment he saw her.
“Ruby,” he said warmly.
They walked toward each other, and as cameras flashed in the background, they exchanged a public-friendly hug—a brief squeeze, professional yet affectionate.
“You look stunning,” he murmured low enough for only her to hear.
“You clean up nicely,” she teased back.
They shared a quick smile before separating with a playful nod. As Ruby made her way further inside, she bumped—quite literally—into someone unexpected.
“Oh! Unnie?” Ruby blinked, adjusting her balance.
Lisa from BLACKPINK grinned widely. “Ruby! It’s been forever!”
They laughed and hugged tightly before making their way to their seats—right next to each other.
“This show’s gonna be insane,” Lisa whispered.
Ruby nodded, her eyes already drifting toward the runway, knowing Felix would be walking any minute now.
The lights dimmed, the music swelled, and models began gracing the runway in sleek, futuristic ensembles. When Felix appeared, clad in a bold Louis Vuitton look—sharp tailoring, layered textures, and that signature confident stride—the crowd audibly reacted.
Ruby’s lips parted slightly, her eyes locked on him, admiration practically glowing from her expression.
Lisa leaned over and smirked. “Girl… you’re staring like he’s your wedding dress walking down the aisle.”
Ruby snapped her gaze to Lisa, blushing furiously. “I–I was not!”
“You were,” Lisa teased, nudging her side.
“I was just… appreciating fashion,” Ruby muttered, flustered.
“Right,” Lisa said, winking. “Fashion with a face like that.”
After the show ended, the audience erupted into applause. Ruby and Lisa rushed backstage, dodging the press, and finally found Felix.
“You killed it!” Ruby grinned.
Felix smiled brightly, cheeks a bit flushed. “Was it okay?”
Lisa laughed. “Okay? You owned it. Ruby couldn’t take her eyes off you.”
Ruby swatted Lisa gently, laughing through her embarrassment.
The three of them took a picture together—Felix in the middle, arms around both girls. The flash caught Felix mid-laugh, Ruby leaning into his shoulder, Lisa throwing a peace sign.
Tumblr media
Later, at the after-party in a posh Parisian venue, guests began arriving in separate luxury cars. Inside, amid a sea of models, designers, and celebs, Ruby and Felix were spotted sitting side by side, sipping on sparkling mocktails and chatting with none other than Nicolas Ghesquière, the creative director of Louis Vuitton.
They laughed, swapped stories, and posed for a few elegant candids.
But Ruby subtly tugged at the hem of her dress every few minutes. It kept riding up as she sat, and it was driving her crazy.
Felix noticed.
Without a word, he slipped off his tailored blazer and gently placed it over her legs.
She blinked in surprise. “Felix… I can’t take this—”
He softly pushed it back when she tried returning it. “Keep it on. You'll be more comfortable, and that’s what matters.”
Ruby bit her lip, cheeks turning a soft rose as she shyly smiled. “You’re too sweet.”
Felix chuckled and nudged her shoulder with his. “Only for you.”
Time slipped by quickly, and eventually, Ruby glanced at her phone.
“I’ve got to head out,” she said, looking regretful. “Schedule’s packed tomorrow.”
Felix nodded. “I’ll walk with you.”
They both stood, bidding Nicolas goodbye with warm thanks. As they reached the hallway outside the venue, Ruby stopped and turned to Felix.
“Thanks again… for this,” she said softly, slipping her arms out of his blazer and holding it out with both hands. “You should take it back.”
But Felix gave her a small shake of his head, a half-grin curling at his lips. “Nah. It looks better on you.”
Ruby rolled her eyes playfully, but her voice dropped to a gentle murmur. “If people see me wearing your blazer when we leave, they’re going to get suspicious.”
At that, Felix raised an eyebrow, stepping a little closer. “So let them,” he said, teasing but with a hint of sincerity that made her heartbeat flutter.
She opened her mouth to reply but was interrupted by the muffled sound of cheers and camera clicks from outside. A staff member gestured that it was time.
With a small sigh, Ruby nodded, giving in for now. She handed the blazer back to Felix and offered him a grateful smile.
“I’ll see you out there,” she said, then pushed open the doors and stepped into the night.
Immediately, flashes erupted and fans called her name.
“Ruby!” they called.
“Ruby, over here!”
“Ruby, you look so beautiful!”
She smiled brightly, signing a few posters, waving, and taking a moment with each fan. But the Paris night had turned sharply cool. A breeze brushed her bare arms, and goosebumps rose instantly. She shivered slightly, trying not to show it.
Then, without a word, something warm settled gently over her shoulders.
Her breath caught as she looked down—it was the same blazer. His blazer.
Fans who witnessed the sweet gesture instantly gasped.
“Awww!”
“Felix is such a gentleman!”
“Oh my God, Felix is such a sweetheart!”
Ruby turned her head. There he was—Felix, just a few steps behind, politely greeting fans, his cheeks visibly flushed under the flickering camera lights. When their eyes met, she gave him a smile that said thank you without needing any words.
He smiled back, awkward and bashful, as he continued signing autographs—but he looked proud.
A moment passed between them, quiet amidst the noise.
Ruby’s car pulled up first. With a final wave to the fans, she slipped inside, clutching the blazer tightly around her. As the car began to pull away, glancing out the window, there he was again, Felix turning just in time to wave. His own ride had just arrived.
Tumblr media
Later that night, the two reunited at a cozy restaurant where both their teams were waiting.
The restaurant was tucked away in a quiet corner of Paris, the kind of place only locals and longtime lovers of the city knew. Inside, it was warm and intimate—dim lighting, flickering candles on each table, and soft jazz playing softly in the cozy space. Red velvet curtains framed the windows, and the scent of truffle and fresh herbs danced in the air.
Ruby stepped inside, still wearing the oversized blazer Felix had draped over her shoulders earlier. It swallowed her frame a little, but she looked effortlessly chic—and everyone noticed.
At a long table near the back, both her and Felix’s staff were gathered, already deep in conversation and laughter. But it was the seat beside Felix that remained empty…waiting just for her.
Felix saw her the moment she walked in. His gaze softened, and a smile tugged at his lips as he stood up slightly, pulling her chair out for her.
“Milady,” he teased gently, bowing his head.
Ruby giggled, a bit flustered. “Such a gentleman tonight.”
“Only for you,” he whispered, just low enough that she heard.
She slipped into the seat beside him, her shoulder brushing his lightly. The others welcomed her, complimented her look, and gushed over Felix’s walk on the runway again. Plates began arriving soon after—vegan dishes made especially for Ruby, while Felix opted to eat the same in solidarity.
“I asked them to make everything vegan,” he whispered to her as the first plate was placed in front of them.
Ruby blinked at him, touched. “You didn’t have to do that.”
He smiled, shrugging casually. “I wanted to. It’s kind of sweet sharing everything with you, don’t you think?”
Her heart did a tiny backflip.
Throughout the dinner, Ruby and Felix exchanged little moments—forks clinking as they shared bites from each other’s plates, their legs brushing beneath the table, they leaned in closer, whispering things no one else could hear. It was sweet—romantic in a soft, quiet way.
When dessert arrived—a delicate matcha tiramisu—Ruby scooped a spoonful and offered it to Felix without thinking.
He blinked. “Really?”
She shrugged. “Only fair. You ate my tofu earlier.”
He leaned in and took the bite, then dramatically declared, “Best dessert I’ve ever had.”
They both laughed. Her staff exchanged looks. His manager tried not to smirk.
At one point during the dinner, someone made a joke at the far end of the table, and everyone burst into laughter. Ruby turned to look at Felix, and he was already looking at her, his eyes reflecting the soft amber light from the candles.
“What?” she asked with a shy smile.
“Nothing,” he said, shaking his head. “Just... happy you’re here.”
Ruby's cheeks warmed. She turned to her glass of sparkling water, hiding her smile as she took a sip.
The dinner slowly wound down. The staff began filtering out, one by one, thanking the hosts and offering goodbyes. But Ruby and Felix lingered.
They moved to a quieter booth tucked near the side, a little more hidden. Their conversation turned softer, deeper.
“I never imagined we’d be doing this,” Ruby said, swirling her drink in her glass. “Sharing a Paris night like this.”
Felix leaned in, resting his chin in his hand. “I think I imagined it,” he said. “After we met at the last show... something about you stuck in my mind.”
Ruby looked at him, slightly breathless.
“Really?”
“Yeah,” he said. “You’re... different. You don’t just walk into a room—you change it. You make it brighter, even in the dark.”
She laughed, covering her mouth with her hand. “That was so cheesy.”
“But true,” he said, smiling wide now.
Ruby looked down at the blazer still wrapped around her. She clutched the edge gently.
“I don’t think anyone’s ever made me feel like this before,” she whispered.
Felix reached out and brushed a loose strand of hair from her face, letting his fingers linger for a heartbeat too long.
“I hope that’s a good thing,” he said quietly.
“It is,” she whispered.
There was a pause. The room seemed to quiet, the music fading into the background. Just them. Just this moment.
Then—
Buzz. Ruby’s phone vibrated.
A message from her manager:
Manager Hyung:
“Your car is arriving in 5 mins!”
She sighed, then showed Felix the message.
“I guess Cinderella’s gotta run.”
Felix grinned. “I should probably head out too. Want some company?”
They stepped outside together into the cool Paris night, the sky dusted with stars. Her car pulled up, sleek and silent. She looked at him one more time, reluctant.
She slowly began to take off the blazer.
But Felix reached forward, stopping her gently.
“Keep it.”
She blinked. “Again?”
He nodded. “Just for tonight. Let it keep you warm.”
Ruby hesitated, then gave him the softest smile.
“Okay.”
She looked up at him, the night’s warmth still glowing in her chest.
“Tonight was perfect,” she said softly.
Felix tucked his hands in his pockets, smiling down at her.
“I think any night with you would be.”
And then, impulsively—just before stepping into the car—she rose on her toes and pressed a quick kiss to the corner of his lips. A light brush, soft and sweet.
Felix froze for half a second, his hand rising instinctively to the spot where her lips had been.
She winked at him. “Merci, monsieur.”
The car door shut, and the vehicle slowly pulled away, leaving Felix standing there, stunned, smiling like a fool.

✨ "Eclipsed Elegance: Ruby for Louis Vuitton"

Tumblr media
Luxury, elegance, and an undeniable edge—these are the qualities that have defined both Louis Vuitton and Ruby, K-pop’s rising star and style icon. In a move that has sent shockwaves through both the fashion and entertainment industries, Louis Vuitton has officially announced Ruby as its newest global ambassador. But this was no ordinary collaboration—it was a story of discovery, admiration, and an instant connection that led to Ruby becoming the Princess of Louis Vuitton.
The Moment Nicolas Ghesquière Discovered Ruby
As the Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière has always had an eye for talent—those who redefine modern fashion while embodying timeless sophistication. One evening, during his usual deep dive into cultural trends, Ghesquière came across a viral performance of Ruby on stage. She was wearing a structured, embellished jacket with a tailored silhouette, exuding power, confidence, and elegance. The way she carried herself, the effortless mix of rock and roll energy with high fashion grace, made him pause.
“I remember seeing Ruby for the first time in that performance, and I was captivated,” Ghesquière recalls. “She had this natural presence—this ability to make anything she wears look like it was made for her. She wasn’t just wearing fashion; she was defining it.”
Intrigued, he began looking into Ruby’s past editorials, stage looks, and red carpet appearances. The more he saw, the more he realized—she was exactly what Louis Vuitton needed.
The Call That Changed Everything
Ghesquière wasted no time. Within days, he had his team reach out to Ruby’s management, inquiring if she would be interested in a meeting. At first, Ruby thought it was a simple conversation about a future campaign or a one-time collaboration. But when she was told that Louis Vuitton wanted to fly her to Paris to meet Nicolas Ghesquière personally, she knew this was something bigger.
“I remember sitting there, staring at my phone, completely in shock,” Ruby shares with a laugh. “Louis Vuitton? Paris? Nicolas Ghesquière? I couldn’t believe it. I had to check twice to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.”
Within the week, Ruby was on a first-class flight to Paris, stepping into a world she had long admired from afar.
The Paris Meeting: A Conversation of Art and Fashion
The meeting took place at Louis Vuitton’s headquarters, a place that breathes history and innovation. Ruby arrived wearing a chic yet edgy ensemble—a structured black blazer, knee-high boots, and an LV monogram mini trunk bag. She was greeted warmly by Ghesquière, who led her into his private studio, where some of the latest unreleased collections were displayed.
The conversation flowed effortlessly. They spoke about fashion, art, music, and what it means to influence an industry. Ruby shared her love for classic yet bold styles, and how she admired Louis Vuitton’s ability to reinvent itself while staying true to its roots.
“I see fashion the way I see music,” Ruby explained. “It should tell a story. It should make people feel something. Louis Vuitton does that—it carries a legacy while always pushing forward.”
Ghesquière was impressed. He had always believed that fashion should be worn by those who understand its artistry, and Ruby was a perfect embodiment of that philosophy.
The Big Question: Becoming the Princess of Louis Vuitton
After hours of discussion, Ghesquière looked at Ruby and simply said, “I want you to be more than a collaborator. I want you to be the global ambassador for Louis Vuitton.”
For a moment, Ruby was speechless. She had worked with luxury brands before, but to be asked to represent one of the most iconic names in fashion on a global scale was beyond her wildest dreams.
“I remember my heart stopping for a second,” Ruby confesses. “I looked at him, waiting for him to say he was joking, but he wasn’t. He was serious. It was real.”
When she finally found her voice, all she could say was: “Yes. A thousand times, yes.”
With the contract signed and the partnership official, Ghesquière made one final statement that cemented Ruby’s place in the Louis Vuitton family.
“Louis Vuitton has had many ambassadors—icons, legends, and trailblazers. But Ruby is something different. She’s elegance with an edge, tradition with a modern twist. She’s not just an ambassador-”
“She is the Princess of Louis Vuitton.”
What’s Next?
Ruby’s first official campaign with Louis Vuitton is set to debut soon, featuring a stunning photoshoot in Paris that embodies the brand’s ethos of luxury, rebellion, and artistic brilliance. Fans are already eagerly anticipating her runway appearances, global events, and exclusive collections inspired by her unique style.
“I want to bring something fresh, something bold,” Ruby teases. “I want people to look at Louis Vuitton and see themselves in it—to feel powerful, beautiful, unstoppable.”
And if there’s anyone who can do that, it’s the Princess of Louis Vuitton.
✨ Eclipsed Elegance: Ruby for Louis Vuitton ✨
"She doesn’t follow trends. She sets them. She doesn’t seek the spotlight. She is the light. Ruby redefines Louis Vuitton—where elegance meets rebellion."

Butterflies and Meddling Friends
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It all started with a simple message from their managers.
SMTOWN COLLAB STAGE
Performers: Taemin & Ruby
Concept: A sensual and captivating duet performance
Rehearsals begin this week. Please coordinate schedules accordingly.
Ruby read the message three times before blinking in disbelief.
She was going to perform with Lee Taemin.
Her longtime idol. The man she had named as her ideal type on multiple occasions. The same man Taeyong had been relentlessly teasing her about for weeks.
And now, they were supposed to perform a sensual duet together?
She was doomed.
It had been three days since Taeyong dropped his bombshell about Taemin calling Ruby “special.” Three days of her replaying that moment in her head, overanalyzing every past interaction she’d had with Taemin. Three days of her trying not to let it affect her, but failing miserably.
And Taeyong, being Taeyong, was having the time of his life.
“Stop looking so smug,” Ruby muttered as they walked through SM’s hallway, heading toward a practice room.
“I literally didn’t say anything.”
“You don’t have to. I can feel your smugness radiating off you like an annoying aura.”
Taeyong burst out laughing, throwing an arm around her shoulders. “You love my aura.”
“I really don’t.”
“Yes, you do.”
She groaned, shoving him off, but a small smile betrayed her amusement.
As they reached the practice room, they pushed open the door to find a few other SM idols stretching and warming up. And standing right in the middle, adjusting his sleeves casually, was none other than Lee Taemin.
Ruby immediately regretted coming.
Her brain, which had been functioning perfectly fine just seconds ago, short-circuited as soon as she saw him. It was ridiculous—she had known him for years. They had performed at the same events, trained in the same company, and even filmed variety shows together.
But now? Now that Taeyong had planted the idea that maybe—just maybe—Taemin saw her differently… she suddenly felt weirdly self-conscious.
Taeyong, of course, noticed immediately.
And because he was the worst, he leaned down and whispered, “Nervous?”
Ruby elbowed him in the ribs.
“Ah—ow!” He laughed, rubbing his side. “So violent.”
Meanwhile, Taemin had finally noticed them. His gaze landed on Ruby, and a small, easy smile curved his lips. “Ruby, you’re here.”
And great. Now her heart was malfunctioning too.
She cleared her throat, forcing a casual smile. “Yeah, uh—hi.”
Taemin walked over. “Excited?”
“More like terrified,” she admitted with a small laugh. “No pressure or anything, but you’re literally one of the best performers in K-pop.”
Taemin smirked, tilting his head. “Flattery will get you everywhere, you know.”
She chuckled. “I wasn’t trying to flatter you. Just stating a fact.”
Taemin chuckled softly, shaking his head.
“Well, if it helps,” he said, stepping closer, “I think this is going to be fun.”
Ruby’s heart did a thing—an annoying little flutter that she immediately chose to ignore.
“Let’s see if you still think that after we start rehearsing,” she teased.
Taemin chuckled. “Oh, I’m sure of it... We were just about to run through some choreography,” Taemin said, tilting his head at her. “Want to join?”
Ruby hesitated for all of one second before Taeyong shoved her forward.
“She’d love to.”
“Hyung—!”
“Perfect,” Taemin said, clearly amused. “Let’s get started.”
Ruby shot Taeyong a silent promise of revenge, but he just wiggled his eyebrows in response.
This was going to be a long practice session.
As their choreographer explained the concept, Ruby realized two things:
The routine was intense—full of close proximity, lingering touches, and dramatic gazes.
She was in so much trouble.
It wasn’t bad, per se. In fact, if Ruby ignored her entire internal crisis, it was actually great.
Dancing had always been one of her favorite things, and practicing with some of SM’s best performers was an opportunity she didn’t take for granted. Taemin, of course, was ridiculously good. Every move was effortless, every transition smooth.
The music started playing, and soon, they were moving together—spinning, reaching, bodies nearly touching.
At one point, Taemin had to slide his hand down her arm, fingers barely grazing her skin before pulling her close. His breath was warm against her cheek, and his gaze locked onto hers.
She definitely stopped breathing for a second.
“Relax,” Taemin murmured, voice low enough that only she could hear.
“I am relaxed,” she lied.
His lips twitched. “Are you?”
Ruby swallowed. “Completely.”
Taemin let the moment linger before smirking. “If you say so.”
“Ruby, Taemin, let's run this through one more time. ” The choreographer called out.
Ruby turned to Taemin, who was already waiting for her, hand outstretched.
“Shall we?” he asked, an easy smile playing on his lips.
Ruby swallowed. Get it together.
She took his hand, and instantly, warmth spread through her fingertips. No big deal. Just dance. You’ve done this a million times.
Except this time, Taemin’s hand was on her waist.
This time, their faces were way too close.
This time, she was definitely blushing.
“Relax,” Taemin murmured, noticing the slight stiffness in her shoulders. “You’re overthinking.”
“I’m not overthinking,” Ruby lied.
Taemin raised an eyebrow. “You so are.”
And then, because the universe was cruel, Taeyong, who had stayed to watch the rehearsal, snorted loudly from the side.
“You guys are so cute.”
Ruby nearly tripped.
Taemin just chuckled. “Ignore him.”
“I can’t,” Ruby muttered. “He’s the worst.”
“I heard that!”
“Good!”
Taemin shook his head, amused, before focusing back on their routine. “Come on, one more time.”
They moved again, this time more in sync. And despite her initial flustered state, Ruby found herself falling into the rhythm.
She forgot about Taeyong’s teasing. She forgot about her overthinking.
It was just the music, the dance, and the feeling of being completely in sync with Taemin.
And maybe—just maybe—she was starting to understand what Taeyong had been saying.
Tumblr media
Two hours later, the practice session ended, and everyone started packing up.
Ruby grabbed her water bottle, wiping sweat from her forehead when Taemin approached.
“You did well,” he said, his voice light. “I can tell you really love dancing.”
She smiled, still slightly breathless. “It’s one of the few things that makes me forget everything else.”
Taemin nodded, as if he completely understood. “That’s the best part about it.”
For a moment, they just stood there, comfortable silence settling between them.
Then—
“HEY, LOVE BIRDS,” Taeyong called out.
Ruby closed her eyes. “Oh my god.”
Taemin, on the other hand, just smirked, crossing his arms. “What now?”
“I’m just saying,” Taeyong said, slinging his bag over his shoulder. “You two have chemistry.”
Ruby groaned. “HYUNG.”
Taemin only laughed, shaking his head. “You really enjoy causing chaos, don’t you?”
“I live for it.”
Ruby turned to Taemin, exasperated. “See what I have to deal with?”
Taemin grinned. “I think it’s kind of fun.”
Taeyong clapped his hands together. “That’s the spirit!”
Ruby just sighed, already regretting every life decision that led her to this moment.
Taemin gave her a teasing smile before stepping back. “I’ll see you both soon.”
And with that, he left, walking off with the effortless grace he always had.
The second he disappeared, Ruby turned to Taeyong.
“I hate you.”
Taeyong smirked, slinging an arm around her shoulders. “No, you don’t.”
She sighed. “Why are you like this?”
“Because I love watching people fall in love.”
Ruby groaned.
Taeyong just grinned.
And somewhere, deep down, Ruby wondered if maybe—just maybe—he wasn’t entirely wrong.

A Cheeky Confession
Tumblr media
It had been two days since The Moment. The moment Ruby had ended up sprawled across Felix on the floor of the Stray Kids dorm, breathless from laughter, hearts racing from proximity, and lips just almost touching before the front door slammed open and the other members poured in, completely oblivious to what they had interrupted.
Later that night, as Felix walked Ruby to her car under the streetlights, she had paused before getting in, looked up at him with that soft, playful smile he adored—and kissed him on the cheek. A quick, sweet kiss that had left him standing in the parking lot long after her car had disappeared, heart pounding like he'd just run a marathon.
And now, here he was, back in the dorm living room, scrolling through their chat with a smile he didn’t even realize he had.
The guys noticed.
As always.
“He's doing it again,” Seungmin said, his voice dripping with mock exasperation.
Han grinned as he peeked over the back of the couch. “Look at his smile. You’d think she just told him she wants ten babies with him or something.”
Felix nearly dropped his phone. “HAN!”
Hyunjin was already sitting up straight. “Wait—is this about Ruby again?”
Felix turned bright red. “Why do you guys always make it such a big deal?!”
Lee Know smirked. “Maybe because you’re acting like a total high schooler in love?”
“Okay, but can we just back up,” Han said, turning to face everyone. “Lix, you never fully told us what happened that night.”
All heads turned.
Felix blinked. “What?”
“That night she came over to play video games,” Bang Chan reminded. “You walked her to her car. She kissed your cheek. But before that… something happened, right? Something that made you look like a confused baby deer for two days straight?”
Felix hesitated.
Seungmin narrowed his eyes. “We saw you two. That controller tug-of-war? The way she ended up on top of you?”
“Oh my god,” Hyunjin said, eyes widening. “You were about to kiss, weren’t you?!”
Felix buried his face in his hands. “We might’ve been. Okay?!”
The room exploded.
“NO WAY!”
“OH MY GOSH—”
“I KNEW IT!”
“LIXIE!”
“Details. NOW,” Lee Know demanded.
Felix groaned, defeated. “Okay, fine. We were playing Mario Kart, and she tried to snatch my controller, and she leaned in, I leaned back, and then—boom. She tripped and fell on top of me. And… yeah, we looked at each other. Like, really looked.”
“A drama-level moment,” Hyunjin said, hand to his chest.
Felix nodded slowly. “I think… if you guys hadn’t come in just then…”
Han gasped. “So we ruined the moment?!”
Seungmin rolled his eyes. “More like saved you from making things awkward.”
Felix gave him a look. “Actually… it didn’t feel awkward at all.”
That silenced them for a moment.
Changbin raised an eyebrow. “And the cheek kiss?”
Felix rubbed the back of his neck, smiling softly. “When I walked her to her car, she said she had fun. Then she just… leaned in and kissed my cheek. Said, ‘Thanks for today, Lixie,’ and got in like nothing happened.”
Hyunjin flopped onto the couch dramatically. “She so likes you.”
Lee Know nodded. “That was a green light if I’ve ever seen one.”
“You guys have been talking every day since you guys met, right?” said I.N.
The room went silent. Felix immediately froze. His reaction told them everything.
“Talking?!" Hyunjin gaped. "Since you met?!"
Felix sighed, realizing there was no escaping this conversation. "It has been a while now. After we met at the Louis Vuitton show, we started messaging a bit, and then it just… kind of became a regular thing."
Bang Chan smirked. "Define ‘regular’."
Felix hesitated before mumbling, "Almost every day…"
"Almost every day?!" Han practically screamed. "Felix, that’s not casual!"
Seungmin shook his head in disbelief. "Dude, if you're texting her that much, it’s either she likes you, or you’re secretly working for her fan club."
Felix groaned, rubbing his face. "It’s not like that! We just… get along really well."
Han narrowed his eyes. "Uh-huh. And do you, by any chance, when you hang out with her, want to kiss her?"
Felix opened his mouth, then closed it. He wasn’t sure how to answer. Did he like Ruby? He definitely admired her. She was cool, kind, funny, and genuinely fun to talk to. And lately, he’d found himself looking forward to their conversations more and more, and they had also almost kissed.
The others watched as realization slowly dawned on his face.
Lee Know smirked. "Ah. There it is. The moment of truth."
Felix groaned again, flopping back onto the couch. "Maybe. I don’t know."
"Felix, my guy," Hyunjin patted his shoulder. "You so like her."
Bang Chan chuckled, watching his younger member struggle. He decided to take things a step further.
"Alright, let’s settle this," Chan said, pulling out his phone.
Felix sat up immediately. "Hyung, what are you—?"
Chan ignored him and scrolled through his contacts. After a few seconds, he pressed a name and put the phone on speaker.
Jaemin (NCT) Calling…
Felix’s eyes widened in horror. "No. No, no, no—Hyung, don’t you dare—"
But it was too late. The call connected.
"Yo, Chan-hyung!" Jaemin’s cheerful voice rang out. "What’s up?"
The Stray Kids members leaned in, fully invested.
"Hey, Jaemin," Chan said casually. "I have a question for you."
"Sure, shoot!"
"So, Felix and Ruby have been hanging out a lot lately."
Felix covered his face as the room erupted into hushed giggles.
Jaemin immediately perked up. "Oh? Really?"
Chan smirked. "Yeah, and I was wondering—do you know if Ruby likes Felix?"
The line went silent for a second. Then, Jaemin laughed.
Felix paled. "Why are you laughing?!"
Jaemin ignored him. "Hyung, do you even have to ask?"
The entire room gasped.
Han clutched his chest. "Wait. WAIT. What does that mean?!"
Chan chuckled. "So she does like him?"
Jaemin hummed. "Let’s just say, if Felix made a move, he probably wouldn’t get rejected."
Felix’s soul left his body.
"WHAT?!" Hyunjin shouted. "RUBY LIKES FELIX?!"
"Jaemin, you’re messing with me, right?" Felix pleaded.
Jaemin just laughed again. "Bro, I'm one of her best friends. Trust me, I know."
Felix slumped in his seat, his heart racing. The others cheered, already making plans for him to confess.
"Felix, you have to ask her out now," Changbin grinned.
"No, no, no—this is too much," Felix mumbled.
Jaemin, still on the phone, smirked. "Felix, don’t overthink it. Just keep talking to her like you always do. She likes talking to you, you know?"
Felix blinked, feeling a sudden warmth in his chest. "She does?"
Jaemin chuckled. "Dude. You are literally one of the few people she messages daily. What do you think?"
Felix didn’t know what to say. All this time, he’d been wondering if she even thought about him like that. But now… hearing it from Jaemin?
Maybe he wasn’t imagining things after all.
Bang Chan smiled, sensing Felix’s mind racing. "Thanks, Jaemin. You just made Felix’s night."
Jaemin laughed. "Anytime, hyung. Tell Felix to text Ruby right now before she goes to sleep."
Felix, still in shock, barely registered the words before Jaemin hung up.
The room was silent for about three seconds.
Then—
"FELIX. TEXT HER. NOW."
Felix groaned, burying his face in a pillow as the members all cheered and teased him.
Maybe… just maybe… he would.
Tumblr media
Felix sat frozen on the couch, his phone clutched in his hands as the members of Stray Kids stared him down like a pack of hungry wolves waiting for their prey to surrender.
"Alright," Hyunjin said, cracking his knuckles. "You heard Jaemin. Text Ruby."
Felix groaned, burying his face in his hands. "Guys, I can’t just randomly message her right after this!"
Han smirked. "Why not? You message her every day anyway."
"Yeah, but now it’s different!" Felix exclaimed, his voice slightly higher than usual. "Now I know she might actually like me, and what if I say something weird?"
Seungmin sighed dramatically. "Oh my gosh. Hyung, he’s hopeless."
Changbin nodded. "Completely hopeless."
Bang Chan chuckled. "Alright, alright, let’s not pressure him too much." He turned to Felix, who was still staring at his phone like it was a ticking time bomb. "But seriously, mate, what are you so worried about? It’s just Ruby."
Just Ruby.
That was the problem. Because Ruby wasn’t just anyone to him anymore. Over the past few months, their conversations had become one of the best parts of his day. He had learned little things about her—how she always started her mornings with a green smoothie, how she was obsessed with collecting rings, and how she had a habit of doodling tiny stars in the margins of her notebooks.
And now, knowing that she might like him back?
His heart couldn’t take it.
"I need to think," Felix mumbled, running a hand through his hair. "I need a plan."
Hyunjin dramatically flopped onto the couch beside him. "You don’t need a plan, you need a backbone."
"Just say hi!" Han encouraged. "Or, oh! Send her a cute selfie. Girls love those."
Felix shot him a look. "I am not randomly sending a selfie."
"Fine, then ask her about her day," Lee Know suggested.
Felix hesitated. "That’s not too much, right?"
Seungmin groaned. "Hyung, if she likes you, any text from you is gonna make her happy."
Felix bit his lip, staring at his phone.
Should he?
Bang Chan, noticing his hesitation, clapped him on the back. "You know what? Let’s make it easier." He leaned over, typed something quickly, and pressed send before Felix could react.
Felix gasped. "HYUNG! WHAT DID YOU JUST DO?!"
The other members immediately crowded around his phone.
On the screen, clear as day, was a new message to Ruby.
Felix: Hey, how was your day?
Felix let out a strangled noise, his soul leaving his body. "I WASN’T READY!"
Bang Chan shrugged. "Now you don’t have to be. You’re welcome."
The others erupted in laughter, while Felix sat frozen, gripping his phone as if his life depended on it.
A few agonizing seconds passed.
Then—
Ruby is typing…
Felix sucked in a sharp breath. The others immediately leaned in closer, eyes wide.
"Oh my god, she’s answering," Hyunjin whispered.
Felix’s heart pounded as her response popped up.
Ruby: Hey, Lix! My day was pretty good, just a little busy. How about yours?
Felix exhaled, staring at the message like it was the most important thing in the world.
"Okay, not bad," Changbin said, nodding in approval. "She called you Lix—that’s a good sign."
"She’s comfortable with you," Han added. "And she answered fast. She definitely likes talking to you."
Felix’s lips curled into a small smile before he could stop himself. He quickly typed back:
Felix: It was good too! Just hanging out with the members right now. What kept you busy today?
Almost instantly, she responded.
Ruby: Practicing a new choreography. I think I’m getting the hang of it, but I’m so sore lol.
Felix’s fingers moved before he could think.
Felix: Make sure you stretch! Sore muscles are no joke.
Ruby sent a laughing emoji.
Ruby: I will, I will. What about you? Have you eaten yet?
Felix felt his heart skip a beat.
Seungmin grinned. "She asked if you ate. She cares about you."
Hyunjin dramatically wiped a fake tear. "Young love is beautiful."
Felix rolled his eyes but couldn’t stop the warmth from spreading through his chest. He quickly typed back:
Felix: Yeah, we just had dinner. You?
Ruby: Not yet! I was thinking of making something soon.
Felix hesitated for a moment before sending:
Felix: Don’t skip meals! You need energy after all that dancing.
There was a pause before Ruby replied.
Ruby: Aww, are you worried about me?
Felix’s eyes widened.
The entire room screamed.
"OH, SHE’S FLIRTING!" Han shouted.
"FELIX, RESPOND. RIGHT. NOW." Changbin demanded.
Felix, flustered beyond belief, quickly typed:
Felix: Of course. Gotta make sure you’re taking care of yourself :)
Ruby sent a heart emoji.
Felix was officially done for.
The members erupted into chaos, some cheering, some pretending to faint, while Felix sat there, red-faced but grinning like an idiot.
Bang Chan smirked, leaning back. "Looks like Jaemin was right."
Felix, still reeling from the conversation, looked up at him. "Right about what?"
Bang Chan chuckled. "That if you made a move, you wouldn’t get rejected."
Felix blinked, then looked back at his phone, rereading Ruby’s messages.
Maybe… just maybe… This was the start of something more.
And then Felix’s phone buzzed just then.
His eyes dropped to the screen—and the smile came back.
Ruby: What are you doing rn? Wanna call? I have something funny to tell you 😭
“Another text from her?” Chan asked with a smirk.
Felix nodded, already typing.
Felix: Just getting roasted by my hyungs 😩. Call me, I need saving, please!
The phone buzzed again instantly.
Incoming FaceTime.
Han practically lunged forward. “Put it on speaker!!”
“No way!” Felix shielded his phone and bolted to his room like a startled kitten, ignoring the cackling from behind.
Inside, he closed the door, jumped onto his bed, and accepted the call.
Ruby’s face filled the screen, smiling wide. “Hey, Lixie.”
His heart did a little dance at the way she said it. “Hey.”
“You okay? You looked flustered,” she giggled.
“I’m being bullied,” he said dramatically. “They know everything.”
She blinked. “Everything?”
Felix looked at her meaningfully. “Everything-everything. Even the… almost kiss.”
Ruby froze.
Then her cheeks turned the faintest pink. “Oh.”
Felix waited. “Is that… bad?”
Ruby shook her head slowly. “Not at all. I mean—if it had happened, I wouldn’t have minded.”
His heart did a full somersault.
“You wouldn’t?”
She bit her lip, smiling. “Nope. Not even a little.”
Silence stretched between them for a beat.
Then Felix leaned into the camera, whispering with a grin, “I should’ve kissed you.”
Ruby laughed, warm and honest. “Maybe next time, you will.”
And Felix? Felix had never looked forward to next time more in his life.

Probing Hearts Over Coffee
Tumblr media
The scent of freshly brewed coffee filled the air as Taeyong slid into the cushioned booth across from Taemin at a quiet café in Seoul. The SHINee member, effortlessly cool in a loose-fitting sweater and silver rings glinting under the warm lighting, greeted him with a relaxed smile.
“It’s been a while,” Taemin said, stirring his coffee. “You’ve been busy, huh?”
Taeyong sighed dramatically, leaning back. “Too busy. SM’s schedule never lets me breathe.”
Taemin chuckled. “Same old SM, huh?”
“Yup.” Taeyong took a sip of his coffee before setting it down with a grin. “But, honestly, I feel like you’ve been even busier lately. Album promotions, variety shows… and becoming the nation’s heartthrob again.”
Taemin raised an eyebrow, amused. “Again? Was there a time I wasn’t?”
Taeyong rolled his eyes but laughed. “Fair point.”
For a moment, the two of them simply enjoyed their drinks, the easy familiarity of their friendship making the conversation flow naturally. They talked about work, music, their members, and the absurd things they’d witnessed in the industry over the years. But then, as Taeyong lazily stirred his coffee, he decided it was time to shift the conversation toward something far more interesting.
Or rather, someone far more interesting.
“So,” Taeyong began casually, “you’ve been seeing a lot of Ruby lately.”
Taemin’s hand paused mid-stir before he resumed, though his expression remained neutral. “Have I?”
Taeyong smirked. “Don’t play dumb. Knowing Bros, Running Man… your names keep getting linked together.”
Taemin chuckled, but there was something almost careful about it. “That’s just variety shows stirring things up.”
“Uh-huh,” Taeyong said, eyes twinkling. “But it was pretty funny how flustered you got when they teased you about her.”
Taemin clicked his tongue, shaking his head with a small, helpless smile. “That show is dangerous. I walked in expecting to promote SHINee's album, and somehow, I left as someone’s ‘future husband.’”
Taeyong laughed, remembering the way Heechul had playfully tried to claim Ruby, only for Taemin to get roped into the teasing instead. “Heechul-hyung was relentless.”
“He always is,” Taemin sighed before looking at Taeyong with mild suspicion. “Why are you bringing this up? You’re enjoying this too much.”
“I am enjoying it,” Taeyong admitted shamelessly, leaning forward on his elbows. “But more than that, I’m curious.”
Taemin gave him a wary look. “…Curious about what?”
Taeyong grinned. “About you and Ruby.”
Taemin exhaled in amusement, shaking his head. “There’s no ‘me and Ruby.’”
“Really?” Taeyong tilted his head. “Because I’ve never seen you get that flustered over a girl before.”
Taemin opened his mouth, then shut it, as if debating how to respond. He took a sip of his coffee, seemingly choosing his words carefully. “Ruby is… interesting.”
Taeyong’s smirk widened. “Interesting?”
Taemin shot him a look. “I mean it. She’s talented, kind, and fun to be around. And she’s got this… energy that makes people want to be close to her.”
Taeyong hummed, satisfied with that answer but not ready to let it go. “So, you do like her?”
Taemin exhaled a laugh. “I like a lot of people.”
Taeyong shook his head, clicking his tongue. “That’s not an answer, hyung.”
Taemin met his gaze, a small, knowing smile playing on his lips. “What exactly are you trying to find out, Taeyong?”
“Oh, you know,” Taeyong shrugged, feigning innocence. “Just whether or not you have a little crush.”
Taemin leaned back, eyes twinkling with amusement but not giving anything away. “And if I did?”
Taeyong nearly choked on his coffee. He hadn’t expected that. “Wait—are you actually—?”
Taemin chuckled, reaching for a sugar packet and tearing it open leisurely. “I’m just saying, if I did, why would I tell you?”
Taeyong groaned. “You’re so annoying.”
Taemin laughed, shaking his head. “You started it.”
“But I need to know!” Taeyong whined dramatically. “Ruby’s like a little sister to me! I have to make sure she’s in good hands.”
Taemin raised an eyebrow. “Are you saying I wouldn’t be?”
Taeyong paused, then smirked. “No, I think you’d be too good. That’s the problem.”
Taemin’s smile deepened, but he didn’t respond right away. Instead, he took another sip of his coffee, as if contemplating something.
Finally, he set the cup down and met Taeyong’s gaze.
“Ruby is special,” he said simply.
Taeyong blinked, caught off guard by the sincerity in his voice. “Oh?”
Taemin nodded, a soft look in his eyes. “She’s someone worth cherishing.”
For once, Taeyong didn’t have a witty comeback. Instead, he found himself grinning. “Hyung, if you ever decide to confess, I’m getting front-row seats.”
Taemin laughed, shaking his head. “You’re impossible.”
“And you’re a liar if you say you don’t at least like her a little bit,” Taeyong teased, leaning forward.
Taemin only smirked, not confirming nor denying, before finishing his coffee. “Let’s just say… you’re not wrong.”
Taeyong gasped dramatically. “Hyung!”
Taemin laughed as he reached for his wallet. “I’m paying before you get any more out of me.”
As Taeyong watched Taemin stand and head toward the counter, he couldn’t help but grin to himself.
Maybe he had gotten more out of him than expected.
Tumblr media
A week had passed since Taeyong’s little coffee interrogation with Taemin, and the memory of it still made him grin.
Ruby had no idea what had gone down between them, and that made it even more fun.
Now, as Taeyong sat in the SM practice room stretching before rehearsals, he scrolled through his phone absentmindedly—until a notification popped up in the group chat he had with Ruby and a few other SM idols.
Ruby: I swear, if one more person sends me that clip of Heechul calling me his future bride, I’m deleting my account.
Taeyong nearly snorted out loud. He had seen the clip making rounds again. Fans loved bringing up the chaos from Knowing Bros, and this time, someone had edited it into a dramatic “love triangle” between Heechul, Taemin, and Ruby.
Naturally, he had to make it worse.
Taeyong: You should’ve just gone along with it. Imagine being a variety show queen and a future bride at the same time.
Ruby: I am going to block you.
He laughed, already typing his next response when—
Taemin: Heechul-hyung moves too fast. At least buy dinner first.
Taeyong froze.
Then grinned.
Ruby responded almost immediately.
Ruby: OPPA, NOT YOU TOO!
Taemin sent a laughing emoji, and Taeyong could picture his amused smirk.
Ruby sent another message.
Ruby: Taeyong, I know you put him up to this.
Taeyong gasped dramatically in his head.
Taeyong: Excuse me?? I am an innocent bystander in this.
Ruby: Lies.
Taeyong: Wow. Zero faith in me.
Taemin: I can confirm Taeyong has never been innocent a day in his life.
Taeyong clutched his chest in mock betrayal.
Taeyong: Hyung, I thought we were brothers.
Taemin: We are. That’s why I know you’re full of it.
Taeyong burst out laughing, earning a few confused glances from the other idols in the practice room. He waved them off, still grinning as he watched Ruby send a flurry of angry keyboard smashes before going silent.
Ruby: I’m muting this chat.
Taeyong: Love you too!
No response.
Taeyong pocketed his phone, but he wasn’t done. Oh no. This was far too entertaining.
Later that night, he found himself sitting across from Ruby at a small rooftop café in Seoul, sipping on a matcha latte while she enjoyed her dessert. The city lights twinkled below them, casting a soft glow over the outdoor seating area.
Ruby, however, was still glaring at him.
“You’re so lucky I didn’t actually block you,” she muttered, stabbing her fork into her cake.
Taeyong smirked. “You love me.”
“No, I tolerate you.”
He laughed, stirring his drink. “That’s basically the same thing.”
Ruby rolled her eyes but took a bite of her cake, clearly enjoying it despite her fake annoyance.
After a moment, Taeyong leaned back in his chair, watching her thoughtfully. “So.”
She glanced up warily. “So…?”
He smirked. “You and Taemin-hyung.”
Ruby choked on her cake. “Taeyong, I swear to—”
“Hear me out,” he interrupted, raising a hand. “I’m just curious.”
Ruby groaned, setting down her fork. “You’re always curious about things that aren’t your business.”
“But this is my business.” He pointed at her. “Because you’re my friend, and he’s my hyung, and I need to know if I should start planning a wedding.”
She threw a sugar packet at his face. “You’re insufferable.”
He dodged it easily, laughing. “Come on, I’m serious! Do you like him?”
Ruby sighed, staring down at her dessert. “Taeyong…”
“What?”
She sighed again, this time softer, and poked at her cake with her fork. “He’s… Taemin. Of course, I admire him. Who wouldn’t?”
Taeyong raised an eyebrow. “Admire?”
“Yes,” she said firmly. “He’s incredibly talented, kind, and just… cool.”
Taeyong smirked. “That sounded an awful lot like swooning to me.”
Ruby groaned and dropped her head onto the table. “I hate you.”
“No, you don’t.”
She lifted her head just enough to glare at him. “One day, I will get revenge for all of this.”
“I look forward to it,” he grinned. Then, after a pause, his expression softened. “You know, I think he likes you too.”
Ruby stilled.
Slowly, she lifted her head. “What?”
Taeyong shrugged, sipping his drink. “I’m just saying. I hung out with him last week, and when I brought you up, he didn’t deny anything.”
Ruby blinked, her fingers tightening around her fork. “Wait—wait what?”
Taeyong grinned like he had just dropped the biggest gossip bomb in history. “He said you were ‘special.’”
Ruby’s brain short-circuited. “He said that?”
“Yup.”
She stared at him, lips slightly parted, her mind racing. “Are you messing with me?”
Taeyong shook his head. “Nope. He really said that.” He leaned forward, smirking. “So, what are you gonna do about it?”
Ruby looked away, cheeks warming. “…Nothing?”
“Nothing?”
“What am I supposed to do?” she huffed. “Run up to him and say, ‘Hey, Taemin, I heard you think I’m special, wanna go on a date?’”
Taeyong gasped. “That’s exactly what you should do.”
“HYUNG—”
He burst into laughter, nearly spilling his drink. “Okay, okay, but seriously. If you do like him, you should at least… I don’t know, flirt back?”
Ruby bit her lip, contemplating. “I don’t even know if he actually likes me like that.”
Taeyong rolled his eyes. “Ruby. Trust me, he does.”
She hesitated, staring at her cake as if it held the answers to her life. “…I don’t know.”
Taeyong softened. “Hey.”
She looked up, and he smiled, nudging her arm. “No rush. Just… enjoy it, okay? Whatever happens, happens.”
Ruby exhaled, then, slowly, a small smile formed. “Yeah… okay.”
Taeyong beamed. “That’s the spirit.” Then he grinned mischievously. “But just so you know, if you two do get together, I’m taking full credit.”
Ruby threw another sugar packet at him.
And for the first time that night, she wasn’t annoyed—just a little hopeful.

Game Over Or Just Beginning?
Tumblr media
The sun was dipping below the horizon in Seoul, casting a soft golden hue through the windows of the Stray Kids dorm. Felix stood in the middle of the living room, hands on his hips, scanning the chaos around him. Snacks were scattered on the kitchen counter, gaming controllers were tangled like vines, and someone’s sock was hanging off the back of the couch like a sad flag of defeat.
"Okay, Operation Impress Ruby starts now," Felix muttered to himself, clapping his hands for motivation.
Felix was a mess.
Not emotionally (though the flurry of butterflies in his stomach told a different story), but physically—a whirlwind of panic as he zipped around the Stray Kids dorm, armed with a vacuum in one hand and air freshener in the other.
“Changbin-hyung! Can you please move your socks from the couch?!”
“Dude, relax,” Changbin groaned from the kitchen, sipping banana milk like a calm Sunday morning. “She’s seen a mess before. She has brothers.”
Felix stopped mid-sprint. “Yeah, but not this mess. And Ruby isn’t just anyone—she’s Ruby. She’s classy, cool, and actually likes me... I think.”
That last part came out a bit quieter.
Han leaned over the couch, devilish grin in place. “Aw, our little sunshine’s got a crush.”
Felix flushed. “Hyung, stop—”
“Should we light candles too?” Lee Know teased as he entered, hands full of snacks that he clearly had no intention of sharing. “Romantic mood for video games and accidental hand-touching?”
“Or maybe put on soft background music?” Seungmin added, joining in with a straight face that only made it worse. “Should we set the table for two like a candlelit dinner?”
Felix, now bright red, spun on his heel and pointed toward the door. “Out. All of you. Out of this dorm for the next two hours!”
“We live here!” Jeongin protested with a laugh.
“OUT!”
Tonight was important. It wasn’t just a casual hangout—it was the hangout. The first time Ruby was coming over to play video games. Just the two of them. Felix had been counting down the days like it was Christmas.
He darted into the bathroom, grabbed every scented candle he could find (thank you, Hyunjin), and arranged them around the living room. One by one, he tossed blankets in the laundry and wiped down every surface like a man possessed. Then came the playlist—soft chill-hop mixed with retro K-pop beats. Perfect background noise, nothing too romantic, nothing too boring.
“Bro, what’s with the candles?” Bang Chan asked, stepping out of the bedroom holding a half-eaten protein bar.
“It’s for the vibe,” Felix said, fussing with the pillows on the couch. “Ruby’s coming over.”
Bang Chan raised a brow. “Ohhh. So that’s why you vacuumed. Man's in love.”
“I’m not—okay, maybe a little,” Felix admitted, ears turning red.
One by one, the other members started noticing the change.
“Did you iron the couch pillows?” Jeongin blinked.
"Why is there kombucha in the fridge?" Han asked.
"Is that my cologne?" Seungmin frowned, sniffing the air.
“Everyone out!” Felix finally declared, waving a spatula like a sword. “Go find something to do for a few hours. Movie, dinner, I don’t care. Just not here.”
Hyunjin plopped dramatically on the couch. “But this is my Netflix time.”
“I’ll buy you bubble tea tomorrow.”
They all burst into laughter, but began slowly collecting their things. Except Hyunjin, who stayed lounging on the couch like he was royalty.
“You too, Hyunjin,” Felix narrowed his eyes.
“I just wanna see her hair in real life, man. It’s so cool.”
“Nope!”
After much whining and dramatics, Felix managed to usher his very nosy and very nosy-on-purpose members out of the dorm. “Go get bubble tea. Or touch grass. Or anything. Just go.”
As the door finally clicked shut, Felix took a deep breath, smoothing down his shirt and fluffing the couch pillows unnecessarily for the fifth time. The place smelled like citrus and pine. Spotless. Just in time.
Ding-dong.
His heart did a backflip.
He rushed to the door and opened it to find Ruby standing there, wearing an oversized band t-shirt, denim shorts, and the cutest shy smile that made his knees go a little weak.
“Hey,” she said, holding up a paper bag. “I brought snacks. Vegan-friendly.”
Felix melted. “You're amazing.”
From behind her, the chorus of “Hi Ruby~” echoed as the members peered around the corner of the hallway, clearly waiting to catch a glimpse.
Ruby blinked, then grinned. “Hi guys!”
“You look lovely today!” Chan called.
“Have fun you two~” Jeongin winked.
Felix looked like he wanted to disappear into the earth. “I said OUT!”
They scattered like children, laughing all the way down the hall.
Ruby giggled. “They’re sweet.”
“They’re nosy,” Felix muttered, pulling her gently inside. “Come on, let me show you the setup.”
Inside, the living room was transformed. The lights were soft, game controllers ready, and a blanket was tossed casually on the couch like it just happened to be there (when, really, he agonized for twenty minutes choosing the perfect one).
She took a look around. “Wow… you cleaned for me?”
“I wanted you to be comfortable,” he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck.
Ruby plopped onto the couch and looked around approvingly. “Well, color me impressed, Felix. This is like… romcom date level cute.”
He beamed.
They plopped down, Ruby settling comfortably beside him as he handed her a controller. “Hope you're ready to lose.”
“Excuse me?” she gasped playfully. “I’m the queen of Mario Kart. You don’t stand a chance.”
Ruby was fierce, fingers flying across the buttons with laser focus. Felix was good, but she was competitive. Every time she won, she’d throw her hands up in victory and tease him with a triumphant laugh.
“You call that a drift? That’s not a drift, it’s a dive, Felix!”
He laughed, eyes crinkling. “Alright, alright, I’ll give you this round. But the next one’s mine.”
Mid-game, Ruby’s phone buzzed. She picked it up on speaker without looking.
“Yo, Ruby!” came Chenle’s unmistakable voice.
“Wanna hang out?” Mark chimed in. “We’re thinking late-night karaoke.”
“Can’t. I’m with Felix.”
There was a beat of silence. Then:
“Ohhhhhh,” Chenle sang. “Is it a date~?”
Felix’s ears went bright red.
“Playing video games,” Ruby said, cool as ever. “And I’m winning.”
Mark laughed. “Hey, Felix, just a warning—Ruby gets super intense. Like, flips the controller if she loses.”
“That was one time!” Ruby shouted.
“You better let her win or she’ll write diss lyrics about you,” Chenle added, cackling.
“I don’t need to let her win,” Felix said confidently, glancing at Ruby with a playful smirk. “I’ve got game too.”
“Oooooh! Confident! Anyway, have fun, guys!” both NCT boys teased before hanging up.
Ruby turned to Felix with a raised brow. “You sure you can handle me?”
He leaned a little closer, lips curling into a grin. “I’m not scared.”
That round, Felix actually won—and Ruby gasped like he’d just betrayed her in battle. “You did not just blue shell me at the finish line.”
“I told you,” he laughed, dodging the pillow she threw at him.
An hour later, Ruby was dramatically flopping backward on the couch. “How are you winning again?!”
Felix grinned, tongue poking out between his teeth as he steered his kart past the finish line. “Skill, baby.”
Ruby narrowed her eyes, then launched herself at him. “Give me that controller!”
“Hey—wait!”
In her attempt to wrestle it from his hands, she ended up half on top of him, the two tumbling to the floor with a soft thump, limbs tangled and controller rolling away.
They burst out laughing, and then everything went quiet.
Ruby was on top of him, their faces inches apart. Her hair fell like a curtain around them, and her eyes sparkled with mischief and something gentler beneath it. Felix’s laughter faded into breathless stillness as they gazed at each other, a magnetic pull stretching between them.
There was a softness in the air. Felix gently reached for a strand of her hair that had fallen in her face and tucked it behind her ear. His fingers lingered for just a moment.
“You’re really cute when you get all competitive,” he said softly.
Ruby’s heart skipped. “Yeah? Well… you’re really cute when you clean the whole dorm just to impress me.”
Their eyes met. It was a warm, glowing kind of silence.
He swallowed. “Ruby...”
Her gaze flicked to his lips, then back to his eyes.
They started leaning in, slowly—
BANG!
The front door burst open.
“DID SOMEONE SAY—” Han shouted, before freezing.
Eight pairs of eyes took in the scene on the floor.
Silence.
And then—
“OHHHHHHHHH!” Lee Know yelled, pointing dramatically.
Felix and Ruby flew apart, both blushing madly.
“Oh my god,” Ruby squeaked, brushing her hair behind her ears as she scrambled upright.
“Wow, and here we thought we were interrupting a gaming session,” Seungmin smirked.
“Looked more like level 100 flirting to me,” Changbin added, clearly delighted.
“You were gonna kiss, weren’t you?” Jeongin teased. “Don’t lie!”
Felix groaned into his hands. “Please. Spare me.”
Ruby covered her face, laughing nervously. “You guys really know how to make an entrance.”
Eventually, the mood lightened as everyone gathered around for food.
“Guess the friend date just turned into a party,” she chuckled, not seeming to mind at all.
Felix shot her a look across the room, his cheeks still a little pink. She gave him a smile that said: Don’t worry, I’m still yours tonight.
Ruby, initially shy, warmed up quickly, laughing at Han’s ridiculous jokes and teasing Felix for eating the last dumpling. She and Hyunjin clicked almost instantly. They sat on the floor, sharing earbuds and talking about painting, fashion design, and even K-drama OSTs they both loved.
“You’re cooler than I expected,” Hyunjin admitted.
“You too,” Ruby smiled.
They all began chatting about everything from music to their favorite foods. Ruby found herself laughing as the boys teased each other relentlessly, their dynamic reminding her of her own band.
“So, Ruby,” Han said, leaning forward with a mischievous grin, “how does our Felix treat you?”
Felix groaned, burying his face in his hands. “Han, don’t start.”
Ruby laughed, her eyes crinkling with amusement. “He's wonderful,” she admitted. “He’s the sweetest person I’ve ever met.”
Felix peeked at her through his fingers, his ears turning red. The other members erupted in playful cheers, and Ruby couldn’t help but laugh along with them.
As the evening continued, the conversation shifted to music, with the members sharing stories from their tours and Ruby talking about her experiences with her band. They bonded over their shared passion, exchanging stories of long rehearsals, last-minute wardrobe malfunctions, and the thrill of performing on stage.
At one point, Chan leaned forward, a sheepish smile on his face. “Ruby, I have to ask you for a favor.”
“Of course,” Ruby said, tilting her head curiously.
“My little sister is a huge fan of yours,” Chan explained. “She’s going to lose her mind when she finds out you’re here. Can we take a picture together? You know, just to make her a little jealous?”
Ruby laughed, nodding enthusiastically. “I’d be happy to!”
Felix quickly grabbed his phone to take the photo, his smile widening as he watched Ruby and Chan pose together. The moment the picture was sent, Chan’s phone buzzed, and he let out a laugh.
“She texted back already,” he said, showing the screen to Ruby and Felix.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
YOU ARE HANGING OUT WITH RUBY?!
FACETIME ME RIGHT NOW!!!
“Looks like she wants to talk to you,” Chan said with a chuckle, tapping the screen to call his sister.
When the call connected, Chan’s younger sister appeared, her face lighting up the moment she saw Ruby. “Oh my God, it’s really you!” she squealed, her voice filled with excitement.
Ruby smiled warmly, leaning closer to the camera. “Hi! It’s so nice to meet you. Your brother’s told me a lot about you.”
The two of them chatted for a few minutes, with Chan’s sister gushing about Ruby’s music and asking her questions about her favorite songs and inspirations. Ruby answered each question with genuine enthusiasm, her kindness putting Chan’s sister at ease.
Felix watched the interaction with a proud smile, his heart swelling at how effortlessly Ruby connected with the people around her. Seeing her laugh and bond with his members and even Chan’s family filled him with a deep sense of happiness.
When the call ended, Chan’s sister was practically glowing, and Chan looked at Ruby with gratitude. “Thanks for that. You just made her year.”
Ruby waved it off with a smile. “It was my pleasure. She’s so sweet.”
As the evening wore on, the members began to trickle off to their rooms, yawning and giving not-so-subtle thumbs-up gestures to Felix.
When it was time for Ruby to go, Felix walked her down to the van where her manager waited.
“Thank you for coming,” Felix said softly. “This meant a lot to me.”
“Thanks for inviting me,” she said softly, holding the paper bag of leftovers he packed for her. “I had a great time. Your members are wonderful, even with the dramatic entrance.”
Felix chuckled. “Yeah. Sorry about that. They really like you.”
“I like them too,” she said honestly. “You’re lucky.”
He nodded, suddenly nervous again. “I… was really happy you came over. I hope we can do it again.”
“I would love to.” Ruby looked at him for a long moment, then leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek.
Felix’s eyes went wide. “Oh.”
She smiled. “Goodnight, Lix.”
Before he could say anything else, she slipped into the van and waved from the window.
Felix stood there for a second, then slowly raised both fists in the air like he’d won the lottery.
“YES!”
From an upstairs window, loud cheers erupted.
“THAT'S MY BOY!” Han shouted.
“OUR BOY’S GROWING UP!” Changbin added dramatically.
“FELIX, I’M SO PROUD OF YOU!” Hyunjin fake-sobbed.
Felix looked up and laughed, burying his face in his hands again. But he couldn’t stop smiling.
Game over?
No.
This was just the beginning.

Between Teasing And Truth
Tumblr media
The soft hum of a jazz record floated lazily through the air, warm and slow like honey dripping off a spoon. It mingled with the scent of vanilla and cinnamon from the candle flickering gently on the coffee table, wrapping Ruby’s cozy living room in the kind of comforting atmosphere that made time feel irrelevant. Outside, the city pulsed quietly beyond the windows, but inside, everything was still, golden, and safe.
Ruby sat curled into one corner of her plush, overstuffed couch, wrapped in a knit blanket that had clearly seen many such nights. Her pomeranian, Hatchi, snoozed between her and the armrest, occasionally letting out tiny sighs. Opposite her, Taeyong lounged like he owned the place, legs stretched out, one arm draped casually along the backrest, the other reaching into the bowl of chips they were sharing. He was in full “no-schedule” mode—oversized hoodie, gray sweatpants, mismatched socks, and a face so relaxed it almost made her jealous.
“You know,” he said after a thoughtful crunch, “your house has the best vibes. It’s like stepping into a Pinterest board made for introverts.”
Ruby chuckled, brushing a stray piece of popcorn off her lap. “That’s oddly specific.”
“I mean it in the best way,” he added quickly, eyes twinkling with mischief. “It’s homey, but it’s got that fancy touch. Like, if I were a cat, this is where I’d retire.”
She raised an eyebrow. “A cat?”
“Not just any cat,” he said, sitting up straighter. “One of those ridiculously fluffy white ones. With a constant judgmental face. Like—” He made a pouty, squinty expression that was so exaggerated Ruby burst out laughing.
“Stop! You look like a grumpy old man.”
“Thank you,” he said, as if it were the highest compliment. “But seriously, it’s nice here. I get why the other NCT members always try to crash at your place. You’ve created, like, the ultimate K-idol safe zone.”
Ruby grinned. “I like taking care of you guys. And you’re not too messy.”
“That’s debatable,” Taeyong said with a smug tilt of his head, grabbing another handful of chips. “Speaking of messy—should I call Taemin-hyung and let him know the vibes are perfect to hang out tonight?”
Ruby choked on her tea, hastily setting the mug down. “Don’t you dare.”
He gave her the world’s most untrustworthy innocent smile. “Why not? Just saying, he’d love the jazz, the snacks, and your extremely flustered face.”
“I don’t get flustered.”
“You do,” he said, pointing dramatically. “Remember that Running Man moment? When he asked you to call him ‘Oppa’ and you turned into a melted popsicle?”
“I did not!”
“Ruby, you nearly short-circuited. It was adorable. And so obvious.”
She groaned and covered her face. “You’re evil.”
“No,” he said brightly, “I’m your best friend.”
She peeked at him through her fingers. “Best friends don’t summon your crush like Beetlejuice.”
“They do if it gets a great reaction out of them.”
Ruby groaned, covering her face with her hands. “I hate you.”
“No, you don’t,” he laughed, gently nudging her arm. “But seriously, have you guys talked much since then?”
She peeked at him between her fingers. “A little. Just… normal stuff.”
“Uh-huh.” Taeyong’s smirk deepened. “So, if I did call him right now and invite him to your place, you wouldn’t freak out?”
“Taeyong,” she warned.
Ruby reached for a pillow and lightly whacked him with it. He laughed, dodging her second swing. “Okay, okay! I won’t call him… tonight.”
“You’re lucky you’re cute,” she muttered, half-pouting.
“Aw, see? Now you’re flirting with me. Look at us, making progress.”
“You’re insufferable.”
“Correction,” he said with a wink. “I’m insightful.” But then, as if an idea had just struck him, his teasing expression changed into something even more dangerous. “Speaking of insight, let’s talk about Felix.”
Ruby froze. “Felix?”
“Don’t act innocent,” he said, munching thoughtfully. “You met him at that Louis Vuitton show. Ever since, I’ve noticed a certain… spark.”
“We’re just friends.”
“Right, and I’m just a backup dancer for EXO.”
“You’re not even in EXO.”
“Exactly.”
She groaned again, but he didn’t let up.
“So,” Taeyong dragged out the words, clearly enjoying this way too much. “If Felix suddenly called and said, ‘Hey, Ruby, let’s go on a cute little café date together,’ you’d just be like, ‘Sure, bro, totally platonic’?”
Ruby opened her mouth, then closed it. “I should’ve kicked you out an hour ago... You’re insufferable.”
“Too late. I live here now and I’m observant,” Taeyong corrected, looking far too pleased with himself. “And I know Felix is the type to be super sweet and charming without even trying. You like that type.”
“I do not—”
“Oh, really? Because your ideal type is literally Taemin-hyung, who is also—wait for it—sweet, charming, and effortlessly cool.”
Ruby grabbed the nearest pillow and launched it at his face. Taeyong caught it, laughing so hard his shoulders shook. “I’m just saying! You have a pattern.”
She groaned, sinking into the couch. “You’re the worst.”
Taeyong grinned. “I like to think of myself as the best wingman you never asked for.”
“More like a menace.”
“A helpful menace.” He tapped his chin, pretending to think. “Should I invite both Taemin hyung and Felix to dinner with us next time? You know, just to—”
Ruby lunged at him, trying to cover his mouth with her hands. “HYUNG, I SWEAR—”
He burst into laughter, dodging her weak attempts to silence him. “Okay, okay, I’ll stop!”
She huffed, crossing her arms. “Good.”
“…For now.”
“LEE TAEYONG!”
The night continued with playful bickering, snacks, and Taeyong’s relentless teasing, but beneath all of it was something warm, something comforting. He wasn’t just teasing for the fun of it—he genuinely cared. And though she’d never admit it, Ruby appreciated how he always made her laugh, even if it was at her own expense.
As the jazz music played softly in the background, she couldn’t help but smile. Even with all the teasing, moments like this reminded her how lucky she was to have someone like Taeyong in her life.
The jazz record had long since stopped playing, leaving only the distant hum of the city outside Ruby’s window as she and Taeyong continued their never-ending battle of wits. She had managed to steal the pillow back from him, clutching it in her lap like a shield in case he decided to launch another attack of relentless teasing.
Taeyong, still smirking like the devil himself, stretched lazily across the couch. “So, let’s settle this. If you had to choose between Taemin-hyung and Felix—”
Ruby let out an exaggerated groan and threw her head back against the couch. “Oh my God, Taeyong, why are you like this?”
He chuckled, reaching for another handful of chips. “Because I enjoy watching you suffer.”
She threw a piece of popcorn at him. It bounced off his forehead. He gasped dramatically, clutching his chest as if she had personally wounded him. “Wow. Violence? In your own home?”
“I had no choice,” she said, deadpan.
They descended into a full-blown giggle fit, tossing popcorn at each other like five-year-olds. At one point, Taeyong dramatically clutched his heart after Ruby hit him right in the forehead. “This is abuse,” he declared.
“Don’t make me go get Hatchi. He’s Team Ruby.”
But the chaos paused when Taeyong suddenly gasped, his eyes scanning the room. “Wait. Do you still have that bunny I gave you last year?”
Ruby instantly stiffened. “W-what bunny?”
He lit up. “You do! Where is it?”
“No idea what you’re talking about,” she said quickly, but her voice cracked on the last word.
He narrowed his eyes. “Somewhere? Meaning it’s close.”
“No, it’s not—”
Too late. He was already on the hunt, like a bloodhound on the trail of embarrassment. Ruby scrambled after him, shouting empty threats, but he dove onto the bed, yanked back the blanket, and held it up like he’d just discovered buried treasure.
“Ruby.”
There it was: the white plush bunny with floppy ears and a slightly squished face, clearly loved and hugged far more often than she’d admit.
“I can’t believe you still sleep with this!”
She snatched for it, but he held it over his head, cackling. “You do love me! This is proof!”
“I—shut up!” she squeaked, cheeks pink.
He rocked the bunny like a baby. “Don’t worry, little guy. She’s just shy.”
Ruby collapsed onto the bed with a groan. “Why are you like this?”
“Because,” he said softly, handing the bunny back to her, “someone’s gotta keep you smiling.”
That made her pause. Just for a second. She clutched the bunny to her chest and looked over at him—no longer the teasing gremlin, but her safe person. Her constant. The one who saw her past the jokes and understood her without trying.
“You’re the worst,” she whispered, smiling.
He beamed. “And yet, you let me in your house and keep my bunny gift.”
“Shut up.”
“Make me.”
“You want me to get Taemin-hyung on the phone?”
“YOU WOULDN’T DARE!” She sighs and says, “I should’ve never let you in my house.”
“Too late, you’re stuck with me forever.” He finally handed the bunny back to her, but not before ruffling her hair like she was some kid.
She huffed, fixing her hair. “You’re lucky I like you.”
He gasped again, this time in mock surprise. “Wow. You like me? Are we having a moment right now?”
“Don’t push it.”
He laughed, falling back onto the bed like he owned the place. “Okay, okay, I’ll behave. For real this time.”
The banter kept flowing, laughter echoing through the apartment, the bunny now lying peacefully between them like a peace treaty. Eventually, they both sank into comfortable silence. The jazz record had finished, but neither of them moved to replace it. They didn’t need to. The moment was full already—with warmth, friendship, and that rare kind of magic that only comes when you’re with someone who knows you inside out and still sticks around to make fun of you for it.
Then—
“Hey,” Taeyong said suddenly.
Ruby turned, suspicious. “…What now?”
He grinned, ever the menace. “If I accidentally texted both Taemin-hyung and Felix to come over—”
“TAEYONG, GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!”
His laughter echoed through the room, pure and unfiltered, and despite herself, Ruby found herself laughing too. Maybe he was insufferable, but he was also the kind of friend who made life a lot more fun.

This one-shot takes place in a shared universe where both of Ruby’s love interests—Taemin and Felix—exist within the same timeline. Consider it a lighthearted snapshot from that timeline where her relationships with both guys are developing in their own sweet and complicated ways.

Stray Kids On Weekly Idol
Tumblr media
It was another exciting day at Weekly Idol, and today’s guests were none other than Stray Kids. Kwanghee was already bouncing on his feet, mic in hand, grinning from ear to ear. Beside him stood the other co-host of the day—Ruby, the beloved soloist known for her killer vocals and rock-inspired K-pop style. With her natural variety flair and warm charm, Ruby had quickly become a fan favorite on the show.
“Annyeonghaseyo!” Kwanghee chirped. “Today’s guests are none other than the powerhouses of performance—Stray Kids!”
The eight members walked onto the set with cheers, waving at the camera and striking poses. Ruby clapped along with the staff, bowing politely as the boys lined up beside her and Kwanghee.
“Wah, look at their energy!” Ruby laughed, flashing a grin. “No wonder they’re dominating the charts.”
After the usual introductions and banter, they moved on to a special segment inspired by a fan's wish.
“Alright, Stray Kids, we’ve received some fan requests for today’s show!” Kwanghee announced, holding up a cue card. “And one of the fans specifically requested a staring contest with Ruby! How about it?”
The studio lit up with excitement.
Ruby blinked, then laughed. “A staring contest with all of them?”
“Yes! Let’s test who has the strongest eyes!” Kwanghee grinned mischievously. “Face-to-face. Eye contact. First one to move or flinch—loses!”
The boys got hyped right away, cheering and playfully calling dibs on going first.
ROUND 1: BANG CHAN vs. RUBY
Bang Chan stepped up with his charming grin.
“Ruby, no hard feelings if I win, yeah?” he joked in English.
“I was born ready,” Ruby teased back.
They stared intensely, both holding their laughter until Bang Chan broke first with a wink and a chuckle.
ROUND 2: LEE KNOW vs. RUBY
Lee Know smirked confidently. “I’ve never lost this game.”
Ruby leaned forward playfully. “There’s a first time for everything.”
Ten seconds in, Lee Know sneezed. Game over.
ROUND 3: HYUNJIN vs. RUBY
Hyunjin and Ruby took their positions, staring at each other intensely. However, Hyunjin’s signature goofy smile cracked through within seconds, causing Ruby to burst out laughing as well.
“Oh, come on! I wasn’t even trying that hard!” Hyunjin protested, laughing along with her.
Kwanghee dramatically shook his head. “Hyunjin, that was too easy! Ruby wins this round!”
Hyunjin sighed in defeat. “I just can’t keep a straight face when she smiles.”
Ruby clapped her hands in delight. “Thank you for going easy on me, sunbaenim!”
Round 4: CHANGBIN vs. Ruby
Changbin, ever the competitive one, sat down with a determined look. “I won’t lose.”
“Neither will I,” Ruby shot back playfully.
The round started, and both locked eyes. The room fell silent as they stared each other down, neither blinking. But then, Changbin’s lips twitched in amusement.
“You’re trying too hard not to blink,” he teased, making Ruby instinctively react—blink!
“Ahh! No!” she groaned, covering her face as Changbinthrew his arms up in victory.
“I knew it! Mind games always work,” he said proudly.
Kwanghee laughed. “Okay, Changbin wins this one! Next up, Han!”
Round 5: HAN vs. Ruby
HAN leaned forward, his gaze intense as if he were in a soccer final.
“Whoa, Han is serious!” Kwanghee exclaimed.
Ruby gulped. “I feel like I’m about to get tackled…”
The round started, and Han’s fierce concentration sent chills down Ruby’s spine. She tried to hold her own, but the sheer power of his stare made her crack.
“Okay, okay! You win!” she waved her hands in surrender.
Han grinned. “I don’t lose competitions.”
Kwanghee laughed. “That was scary! Poor Ruby looked like she was about to run away.”
Round 6: SEUNGMIN vs. Ruby
Seungmin pretended to fall asleep mid-game.
The set was filled with nonstop laughter.
Round 7: I.N vs. Ruby
I.N, ever the playful one, took his seat and grinned. “Ruby, are you ready?”
She narrowed her eyes. “Always.”
The round began, but instead of a serious stare, I.N started making funny faces. Ruby tried to hold it in, but within seconds, she burst out laughing.
“Yah! That’s cheating!” she accused.
I.N winked. “You never said we had to play fair.”
Kwanghee wiped a tear from laughing. “I.N wins! Alright, that leaves us with the final round…”
Final Round: FELIX vs. Ruby
As soon as Felix stepped forward, the air changed.
There was an audible shift—subtle, but present. Ruby inhaled subtly. Felix adjusted his sleeves like it wasn’t a big deal, but his ears were already turning a bit red. The two stood just a little closer than needed. Their shoulders almost brushed as they faced each other.
“Ohoho” Kwanghee gasped. “Do you feel that, viewers? Is it just me, or did the temperature rise a little?”
Some of the members chuckled. Hyunjin wiggled his eyebrows. Bang Chan nudged Han.
Ruby pressed her lips together to hide a smile. Felix looked down, then back up—eyes locking with hers for a second too long.
Kwanghee, ever the mischief-maker, smirked. “Alright, but let’s make this more interesting. Instead of staring immediately, I’ll hold up a card between you two. When I remove it, that’s when the staring begins.”
Felix nodded, clearing his throat. “Sounds good.”
Ruby, however, felt her heart racing. Why was this suddenly feeling like a scene from a drama?
Kwanghee held up the card between them. “Get ready…” He paused for dramatic effect. “Three… two… one—go!” He swiftly pulled the card away.
As soon as their eyes met, time seemed to slow down. The room faded.
A beat of silence. Then another. Ruby and Felix locked eyes, and suddenly, the world felt quieter. His gaze was soft and calm, hers curious and bright. Neither of them moved. It wasn’t intense—it was gentle, almost like they were quietly reading each other.
The studio collectively sighed.
“Aww… why does this feel like a drama?” Han whispered.
“They look like the main couple,” Bang Chan added, watching the scene unfold.
“Wait,” Kwanghee whispered dramatically. “Why does this look like a confession scene from a romcom?”
At his words, Ruby’s composure broke. Her cheeks turned an even deeper shade of pink as she quickly looked down, bowing slightly. “Annyeonghaseyo…” she mumbled shyly in Korean.
A beat of stunned silence.
Then Felix chuckled—a soft, bright laugh that melted the room.
Then the entire room burst into laughter.
Kwanghee spun toward Ruby, eyes wide. “YAH! What do you mean ‘Annyeonghaseyo’? We’ve been filming for an hour! You’re only now greeting him?!”
The Stray Kids members laughed along, clapping their hands at the unexpectedly sweet moment.
Ruby covered her face in embarrassment, hiding behind Kwanghee’s arm as he laughed hysterically. Felix stood there laughing along, his dimple showing, his eyes never quite leaving Ruby’s face.
Ruby, still unable to meet Felixs gaze, covered her face. “I lost, okay?! Felix sunbaenim wins!”
Kwanghee wiped away a fake tear. “Ah… what a beautiful moment. Someone needs to make a drama out of this.”
After a round of more games and performances, Kwanghee clapped his hands together, signaling a new segment.
"Alright, it's time for a fun challenge!" Kwanghee grinned at the camera before turning toward the Stray Kids members. "We are going to play a game called Raise Ruby’s Heartbeat!"
Ruby blinked in surprise. "Wait, what?!" she asked, pointing at herself.
Kwanghee nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! The goal is to increase Ruby’s heart rate using just the tone of your voice. Each of you will say something to her, and the staff will measure her heartbeat! The winner gets a premium beef set!"
The Stray Kids members erupted in cheers, hyped at the prize. Ruby groaned playfully. “This is so embarrassing,” she muttered, laughing.
“Okay, let’s start! Ruby, take a seat,” Kwanghee instructed.
Ruby sat down in a chair with her back facing the members. She couldn’t see them, which made everything more unpredictable. She could only hear their voices.
“Alright! First up… Han!” Kwanghee announced.
Han confidently took the mic, smirking at Ruby. "Ruby, I have a question for you," he said, his voice laced with playful mischief.
Ruby tilted her head. "Go ahead," she replied, curious.
Han leaned in, his voice playful yet serious. “How old were you when you had your first kiss?”
The studio fell silent for a split second before bursting into laughter. Ruby chuckled, shaking her head at his boldness.
Kwanghee dramatically pointed at Han. “OUT! OUT!” he shouted, making everyone laugh harder.
Han put his hands up in surrender. “Wait, maybe I should’ve asked…” He paused for effect. “When was the last time she got kissed?”
Ruby burst into laughter, clapping her hands together. The rest of the members cracked up, cheering Han on.
"OUT! OUT! Get him out of here!" Kwanghee waved his hand dramatically, pretending to shoo Han away.
Still chuckling, Ruby took a deep breath to calm herself.
"Next!" Kwanghee called, looking around. "Changbin, you’re up!"
Changbin smirked, stepping forward. He cleared his throat and asked with a completely serious expression, "What profession does your father specialize in?"
Ruby immediately burst into uncontrollable laughter, bending forward in her seat. Even Kwanghee had to clutch his stomach, laughing at the sheer randomness of the question.
"Why is that funny?!" Changbin asked, laughing himself.
"OUT! OUT!" Kwanghee wiped his tears. "That’s not how you raise her heartbeat! That’s how you make her lose her breath from laughing!"
"Okay, next up, Bang Chan!" Kwanghee called.
Bang Chan stepped forward, taking a deep breath before speaking in a soft, warm tone. “Hello,” he greeted.
Ruby instinctively raised her head slightly. “Hi,” she responded.
Bang Chan’s voice was warm and caring as he continued. "How are you doing? How’s your day been?"
Ruby tilted her head slightly, a small smile playing on her lips. "It’s been good, a little tiring, but fun."
Bang Chan nodded, his tone still soothing. "Filming all day must be tiring. Don’t forget to eat well, okay?"
At this, Ruby gasped softly, touched by his words. Her heartbeat rose slightly.
Seeing her reaction, Bang Chan smiled and added, "Once you're done filming, I'll drive you home."
Ruby’s eyebrows shot up, and her expression changed completely. Instead of her heartbeat increasing, it dropped almost instantly.
The studio erupted in laughter.
Seungmin was the first to point it out. "She didn’t want you to pick her up!" he exclaimed, making everyone laugh harder.
Kwanghee dramatically shook his head. "Too sudden! Too sudden! Her heartbeat was going up, but then you ruined it!"
Bang Chan laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I thought it would be romantic..."
“Next caller!” Kwanghee pointed at Felix. "Let’s see if he can do better!"
Felix took the mic, stepping forward. The moment he said, “Hello,” in his deep voice, Ruby’s heartbeat skyrocketed.
The staff gasped. The members cheered.
Felix grinned. "Ruby, it’s me."
Ruby blinked before responding naturally, “Oh, hi, sunbae.”
The studio erupted in gasps and chaos.
"Whoa!" Han clutched his chest. "She called him sunbae so effortlessly!"
Felix chuckled and smoothly asked, "What are you doing?"
Ruby tilted her head slightly, smirking. "What do you think?" she responded in a flirty tone.
The studio exploded in chaos. Kwanghee practically jumped out of his seat. "Woah!!" he shouted. "What does she think she is doing right now?! Someone tell me!"
Ruby giggled. "We should hang out soon," she added.
Felix leaned in slightly. "Oh? When?"
Ruby thought for a moment before replying, "In an hour."
Felix smirked. "Alright, I’ll wait in front of your house then."
The moment he said that, Ruby’s heartbeat immediately dropped, and she let out a chuckle.
Kwanghee dramatically pointed at Felix. "Nope! She doesn’t like people going in front of her house!"
Seungmin seized the moment. “Then where do you go for a date, then? Where?!”
Ruby burst into laughter, doubling over as the entire studio went wild. The Stray Kids members were clapping and laughing, enjoying Seungmin’s perfectly timed attack.
Kwanghee nodded, playing along. “Ah, Ruby is reluctant to let people in front of her house. Her pulse immediately drops when you bring it up!”
Felix laughed, shaking his head. "My bad, I shouldn’t have mentioned it."
In the end, Felix was declared the winner, having raised Ruby’s heartbeat the most with just his voice.
As the staff brought out the beef set, Kwanghee patted Ruby’s shoulder. “Next time, we should have a date location guessing game!”
Everyone laughed as Ruby playfully pushed Kwanghee away. "No thanks!"
The episode ended with everyone still laughing, and with that, another hilarious Weekly Idol episode was born—one that fans wouldn’t forget anytime soon.
And as for Ruby and Felix?
Well… let’s just say the teasing didn’t end when the cameras stopped rolling.

The Day Stars Collided
Tumblr media
It was a rainy Thursday in Seoul when Ruby’s life changed in a way she didn’t see coming.
She was still new at SM Entertainment — a fresh face, barely out of trainee status, clutching her demo CD like it was a lifeline. Her hair was frizzing from the humidity, and she had accidentally spilled coffee down her sweatshirt earlier that morning. To top it off, she had just finished a grueling two-hour vocal practice where the instructor politely said she sounded like she was "overthinking every note."
In other words, Ruby was thriving.
She darted down the polished hallways of SM’s main building, trying to find the right practice room she’d been assigned for the afternoon. Every room looked identical: sleek, modern, and intimidating. Her sneakers squeaked awkwardly against the floors.
"Room 7B," she muttered under her breath, peeking at a slip of paper in her hand. "Where is 7B—?"
Wham.
She slammed directly into a solid wall.
Except it wasn’t a wall. It was a person.
A very solid, very startled person.
Ruby stumbled back, flailing wildly, and would have landed flat on her back if strong hands hadn't caught her by the arms.
"Whoa, whoa—easy there!" a warm voice said, half laughing.
Ruby blinked up at her accidental savior — and immediately wished the floor would swallow her whole.
Because standing there, grinning like she hadn’t just bulldozed into him, was Kim Jonghyun.
Yes. That Kim Jonghyun. The vocal legend. The heart and soul of SHINee. The artist Ruby had admired for years.
She was so starstruck she forgot how to breathe.
"I—uh—oh my god—I’m so sorry—I didn’t see—!" she blurted out in one breathless, horrifyingly high-pitched ramble.
Jonghyun just chuckled, brushing invisible dust off her shoulders like he hadn’t almost been tackled.
"It’s okay," he said easily. "I’m used to getting knocked over by fans. Usually not in the hallway, though. First time for everything."
Ruby turned even redder.
"I’m not— I mean— I am a fan! But I wasn’t trying to—!" She flailed helplessly, words crashing over each other like waves.
He laughed even harder, this time clapping a hand to his chest like she was the funniest thing he’d seen all week.
"You’re adorable," he said finally, grinning down at her. "What’s your name?"
Ruby froze. She had to actually speak words?
"R-Ruby," she squeaked. "I’m… a trainee. I mean, kind of. I just… I just got signed."
His eyes brightened. "Ohhh, new blood! Welcome to the madhouse."
She let out a nervous laugh, unsure if she should bow again or stand still or just spontaneously combust.
"Where you headed, Ruby?" Jonghyun asked, glancing at the slip of paper in her hand.
"Uh, 7B? I have a vocal check."
"Perfect!" He beamed. "That’s two doors down. I’ll walk you."
She stared at him, completely short-circuited. Kim Jonghyun is escorting me to practice. What is happening.
As they walked, Jonghyun made easy conversation — asking where she was from, what kind of music she liked, if she had a stage name picked out. Ruby answered as best she could without combusting into a puddle of nerves.
"The good ol’ trainee days," he said, his tone teasing but gentle. "How’s that going?"
She hesitated. He seemed genuinely interested.
"Honestly?" she muttered, staring at her shoes. "It sucks."
There was a beat of silence, and then—
"Yeah," Jonghyun said, nodding thoughtfully. "It does."
Ruby looked up, startled. He wasn’t joking. He looked… sincere.
"I almost quit three times during my trainee period," he admitted, casually like he was talking about the weather. "It’s brutal. People don’t talk about that part enough."
Ruby blinked. "You? Quit? But… you’re… you."
He grinned. "I was still me back then too. And I still wanted to throw in the towel sometimes. You’re not alone, you know."
Something in her chest loosened. She hadn’t realized how much she needed to hear that.
"I just…" she sighed, letting herself stop walking. "I don’t know if I’m cut out for this. Everyone else seems to know what they’re doing, and I’m just… faking it."
Jonghyun chuckled, stopped walking, and looked straight into her eyes. "Newsflash: We’re all faking it."
She blinked down at him. "Even now?"
He looked up at her with a mischievous glint. "Especially now."
Ruby found herself giggling, the weight on her chest easing.
They stood there on the hallway floor for the next hour like two kids ditching class. Jonghyun asked her about her hometown, her favorite music, and why she wanted to be an idol. She found herself rambling about her dad’s rock band, her mom’s fashion designs, and how she dreamed of blending rock and K-pop in her own music.
Jonghyun listened carefully, nodding, humming in agreement.
“Sounds like you have the right heart for this,” he said after a pause. "Heart matters more than technique. You can teach skills. You can't fake soul."
His words struck something deep inside her. She clutched them close, like a secret gift.
"You’re braver than I was," Jonghyun said, impressed. "I was too scared to be anything but what they told me to be for the first few years."
"Really?" Ruby asked, wide-eyed.
He nodded. "Took me a while to figure out that people connect to honesty more than perfection. You seem like you already get that."
She smiled shyly. "I don’t know. I’m still figuring it out."
"Good," Jonghyun said, nudging her shoulder. "Keep figuring it out. Don’t rush to have all the answers."
There was a comfortable silence for a moment.
"You know," he said thoughtfully, "I can tell you’re serious about music."
She blinked. "How?"
"You’re carrying your lyric notebook like it’s your diary," he teased, pointing to the notebook still clutched tightly in her hands. "That’s how you know someone’s heart is in it."
Ruby smiled shyly. No one had ever noticed that before.
They reached Room 7B, and Ruby lingered awkwardly in the doorway, not wanting the moment to end.
Jonghyun, sensing it, grinned.
"Tell you what," he said, leaning casually against the doorframe. "You survive your vocal check, and afterward, I’ll buy you a coffee. Celebration for surviving your first SM building collision."
Ruby’s mouth dropped open. "Really?!"
"Of course!" he said cheerfully. "Besides, I owe you. I think you dislocated my pride when you ran me over."
She giggled, feeling the last of her nerves melt away.
"Deal," she said, holding out her pinky without thinking.
Jonghyun’s smile softened — the kind of smile that could melt glaciers — and he linked his pinky with hers like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"Pinky swear," he said solemnly.
With that, he gave her a little two-finger salute and sauntered down the hallway, whistling a tune Ruby didn’t recognize but instantly loved.
Later, true to his word, Jonghyun showed up after her vocal check with two coffees in hand.
They sat on a bench outside the building, sipping quietly as the rain continued to drizzle around them. The city lights blurred in the puddles at their feet.
"Hey, Ruby?" Jonghyun said after a while.
"Yeah?"
"You’re gonna be something special," he said, voice soft and sure.
Ruby blinked hard, trying not to tear up.
"And if you ever need anything," he added with a wink, "a song, advice, someone to knock over again — I’m around."
She laughed, the sound bubbling up naturally this time.
"I'm going to give you some trainee advice, rule number one of trainee life," he said, holding up an imaginary pack of ramyeon like it was a sacred artifact. "Always have emergency noodles."
She giggled, nodding seriously. "Got it, sunbaenim."
He wrinkled his nose. "Don’t call me that. Makes me feel old."
"But you are older," she teased before she could stop herself.
His jaw dropped dramatically. "EXCUSE ME?!"
She clapped a hand over her mouth, mortified—then realized he was laughing.
"Oh, you’re sassy," he said, waggling a finger at her. "I like you. You’ll survive just fine."
He glanced at her with a warm smile. “You know, Ruby, you don’t have to keep calling me Jonghyun sunbae. It’s way too formal.”
Ruby blinked, startled. “Huh? But… you are my sunbae.”
Jonghyun chuckled, shaking his head. “I mean, yeah, but we’re friends now, right? You can just call me oppa.”
The moment he said it, he noticed her expression shift—just barely—but enough. She hesitated, eyebrows twitching slightly, lips pressing into a tight line as if she was holding something in. It wasn’t dislike, not exactly. It was more like… embarrassment?
Jonghyun tilted his head. “What? Did I say something weird?”
Ruby looked down at her hands. “It’s not you,” she said softly. “It’s just… I’ve never really called anyone oppa before.”
He blinked. “Really? Not even your brothers?”
She laughed, a little awkwardly. “Especially not them. Christopher always said it was cringy. Liam and Leo used to tease me if I ever tried, like dramatically holding their chests and fake crying. So I gave up. It became this… weird line I never crossed.”
Jonghyun’s smile softened, touched by the honesty. “Ahh… makes sense. Families have their own rules.”
“Yeah,” she nodded, cheeks a little flushed. “So it’s not like I don’t want to. I just—never really have. Feels… foreign.”
There was a beat of silence before Jonghyun leaned back, grinning. “Well, now I feel kind of honored. Should I be the first?”
Ruby groaned dramatically, hiding her face behind her coffee. “Don’t make it weird!”
He laughed, that bright, melodic laugh of his that could make anyone feel at ease. “Okay, okay! No pressure. Call me whatever you want, Ruby-yah. Just… not sunbae-nim like we’re at a corporate meeting.”
She giggled. “Deal.”
They sat together in companionable silence for a while, the kind only true friends could enjoy. Then, just as Jonghyun stood up to stretch, Ruby’s quiet voice floated up.
“…Oppa.”
He froze mid-stretch, glancing back at her. “Huh?”
She looked away, flustered but smiling. “I said it. Just this once.”
His expression melted into the softest smile, eyes crinkling with warmth. He walked back over and gently ruffled her hair.
“You said it perfectly,” he whispered. “Thanks, Ruby.”
And in that small, simple moment, a quiet bond between them grew even stronger.
From that day on, Jonghyun became her safe place in a world that often felt too big, too loud, too overwhelming. He’d pop into her practice room unannounced, drop a banana milk on her desk, text her memes at midnight, or send her random voice notes like, "Hey, I wrote this melody today, what do you think?"
He never treated her like a burden. Never made her feel like a kid tagging along. He listened when she vented, teased her when she needed to laugh, and offered advice only when she asked.
And Ruby? She started to feel like she wasn’t so alone.
She felt like she belonged.
She never forgot that rainy Thursday — the day she accidentally collided with one of the brightest stars in the sky, and somehow, miraculously, he decided to walk with her for a while.
And maybe… just maybe… she had a big brother in the making.
March 2017 – SM Entertainment Building
Ruby's hands trembled slightly as she stared down at the glowing text message on her phone.
Congratulations! We’re excited to officially begin preparations for your DEBUT in early 2018! Please attend the team meeting tomorrow at 2 PM to discuss details!
For a few seconds, the world blurred around her. Debut. The word echoed in her mind, carrying years of blood, sweat, and invisible sacrifices.
She clutched the phone to her chest, heart pounding like a drum.
There was only one person she wanted to tell first.
Without even thinking, Ruby sprinted down the hall, weaving through staff members and other trainees, almost tripping twice. She skidded to a halt in front of a familiar door labeled "Recording Studio B."
Light leaked from under the door. Music vibrated faintly through the crack.
Ruby knocked excitedly.
A second later, the door swung open — and there was Jonghyun, dressed in an oversized hoodie, headphones slung around his neck, eyebrows lifting in surprise.
“Whoa, slow down, kiddo,” he laughed, catching her by the shoulders before she could crash into him. “What’s gotten into you?”
“I—I—” Ruby panted, trying to catch her breath, her whole face lighting up with pure, unfiltered joy. “I’m debuting, Oppa!! They just told me! Next year!!”
Jonghyun blinked — then broke into the biggest, brightest grin she’d ever seen.
“YES!!!” He whooped, lifting her slightly off the ground in a spontaneous hug. "I knew it! I told you, Ruby, you're a star!"
She laughed, clinging to him, overwhelmed with happiness.
He set her down gently, eyes sparkling. “I’m so proud of you. Seriously.”
Ruby wiped at the happy tears threatening to spill over. “Thank you, Oppa… I really couldn’t have survived this trainee year without you.”
Jonghyun tapped her forehead playfully. “You did the hard work. I just made sure you didn’t combust from stress.”
They both laughed.
“Now go!” he said, pretending to shoo her away. “Get some rest, celebrate, whatever you need. You have a big meeting tomorrow — you gotta show them your A-game!”
Ruby nodded enthusiastically. Nothing could ruin this feeling.
Or so she thought.
The Next Day — SM Meeting Room
Ruby sat in a plush leather chair, notebook balanced on her lap, nerves coiling tightly in her stomach.
Around the glossy conference table sat members of the A&R team, styling coordinators, PR reps — and to her surprise — Jonghyun, too, sipping coffee calmly at the far end. He caught her eye and winked, giving her a small thumbs-up under the table.
She smiled, comforted.
The head A&R rep clicked to the first slide of a PowerPoint.
“As Ruby’s image is youthful and fresh, we propose a cute, bubbly debut concept — bright colors, school uniform outfits, simple choreography. Very safe. Very marketable.”
On cue, a sugary demo track started playing — all bright synths and repetitive cheerleader chants.
Ruby sat frozen.
It wasn’t… bad, exactly.
But it wasn't her.
Not even a little bit.
As the room filled with polite nods and murmurs of approval, Ruby felt something heavy sink into her chest.
Across the table, Jonghyun was watching her closely.
Really watching.
He noticed the tiny way her shoulders stiffened. How she didn't bob her head along to the music. How her smile slipped into something polite and empty.
He knew.
Later That Afternoon — Studio B
“Oppa?” Ruby poked her head into Jonghyun’s studio after he texted her to come by.
He waved her in, closing the door behind her.
They sat down — him on the swivel chair, her perched cross-legged on the couch, nervously picking at the seam of her sleeve.
“Alright, spill it,” Jonghyun said, voice warm but firm. “What’s wrong?”
Ruby hesitated.
Then — in a small voice — she told him everything.
How grateful she was for the chance to debut. How hard she'd worked to get here. But also… how wrong the concept felt. How she dreamed of performing songs that were intense, emotional, even a little dark — not bubblegum pop.
Jonghyun listened quietly, nodding, letting her get it all out.
When she finally finished, wiping her eyes with her sleeve, he leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.
"Ruby," he said gently. "You deserve to debut as yourself. Not a version of you that fits some easy mold."
She sniffled. "But I’m just a rookie. They’ll think I’m ungrateful. What if they think I’m difficult?”
Jonghyun smiled crookedly.
"Trust me, it's better to be 'difficult' and stay true to yourself than to wake up one day and realize you hate what you’ve built."
He paused, thinking.
"You have a vision. That's rare. Most rookies don't know what they want yet. You do. That’s your strength."
Ruby stared at him, overwhelmed with gratitude.
"Okay," he clapped his hands once, energizing the air. "Enough moping. Let’s show them what you’re made of."
"H-How?"
He grinned mischievously. “We make them an offer they can’t refuse."
That Night — Jonghyun’s Studio
They brainstormed for hours — bouncing ideas, sketching notes, laughing over terrible concepts ("Ruby… what about an alien princess who yodels?" "Oppa, no!!").
Bit by bit, a shape formed.
Ruby confessed how she loved slightly haunting melodies, stories about dreams and nightmares, gothic fairytales.
Jonghyun's eyes lit up.
“Sounds like a dream-chasing concept," he mused. “Something intense but beautiful. Dark but hopeful."
Together, they started writing a song — something fast, fierce, addictive.
"Chase Me."
Jonghyun laid down a rough beat, Ruby layered scratch vocals, and little by little, the track bloomed in the dim-lit room.
It wasn’t polished yet — but it had soul.
It had her.
Around 3 AM, yawning but exhilarated, they built a quick PowerPoint pitch — complete with photos of darker styling, elegant choreography ideas, and lyrics centered on dream-chasing and mystery.
Before they left, Jonghyun tossed a casual arm around Ruby’s shoulders.
“No matter what happens tomorrow,” he said, voice low and certain, “I’m proud of you for fighting for yourself."
Ruby smiled, leaning into him, feeling stronger than she had in days.
The Next Day — SM Meeting Room Again
When Ruby and Jonghyun wheeled in a laptop and clicked to their presentation, the staff initially looked skeptical. After all, they were expecting more of the "safe and cute" route for a rookie.
But as the eerie opening notes of their new demo track filled the room, and Ruby spoke — voice steady, eyes shining — something shifted.
"Our concept," Ruby said, clicking through moodboards filled with mysterious forests, gothic architecture, and intense choreography shots, "is about dreams — but not the sweet, pastel ones. It’s about chasing the unknown, confronting your fears, and finding strength in your darkness."
Heads started nodding slowly.
"We want something intense but beautiful. Dark, but hopeful," Jonghyun added, giving Ruby an encouraging glance.
Ruby clicked to the next slide: performance outfits — tailored jackets, dramatic flowing skirts, harness accessories — all elegant and striking.
"I also wanted to suggest," Ruby continued carefully, heart hammering in her chest, "that it might be better to debut this concept in the fall — maybe October. The darker, more dramatic tone would suit the cooler season, when people are drawn to moodier music and aesthetics."
There was a pause.
The team exchanged thoughtful glances.
It made sense.
Ruby pushed through the nerves and added, "I think it would create a stronger impact. A dark, emotional debut in autumn could make us stand out — and it would match the feeling of the song and concept perfectly."
The room buzzed with quiet excitement now — a stark difference from the cautious atmosphere of the day before.
After a brief huddle among the executives, the head A&R rep smiled.
“Let’s do it," he said. "Dark concept. Fall debut. October.”
Ruby almost burst into tears of relief.
Beside her, Jonghyun beamed, mouthing, Told you so.
Later — Hallway Outside
Ruby hugged Jonghyun fiercely, almost knocking the breath out of him.
"Thank you, Oppa," she whispered. "Thank you for believing in me when I didn't even know if I could."
He ruffled her hair, grinning. "That’s what family’s for."
She pulled back and looked up at him, eyes shining.
“I’m going to make you proud,” she promised.
"You already have," Jonghyun said quietly.
And with that, Ruby stepped into her future — no longer just a lost trainee.
But an artist.
A dream-chaser.
Just like the sunbae who had taught her to never settle for less than her true voice.

I wrote this especially for @angel-02. I hope you like it! You truly inspired me to write this, and I’m grateful for your presence.
Fun fact: Jonghyun is one of the very few people Ruby refers to as 'oppa.'

Midnight in Paris, Morning in the Clouds
Tumblr media
The soft morning light filtered through the curtains of Ruby’s Paris hotel room, casting a warm glow on the tangled sheets and the small shape buried beneath them. Her long lashes fluttered slightly as she mumbled in her sleep, completely unaware of the ruckus approaching her door.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
A sudden burst of loud knocking made her bolt upright.
“RUBY!!”
“OPEN UP RIGHT NOW!”
“WE KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE!”
“We let you have your romantic night, but it’s morning now!!”
The pounding on the door was relentless, followed by Minji’s unmistakable voice yelling, “WE WANT DETAILS!”
Ruby startled awake, bolting upright with a hand clutching her chest. “W-What the heck…” she muttered, groggy and disoriented, her hair a tousled mess. She scrambled out of bed, tripping slightly over her slippers as she rushed to the door.
The moment she cracked it open—
“HOW WAS DINNER WITH FELIX?!”
“WHAT DID HE SAY?!”
“DID YOU GUYS KISS?!”
Minji, Jaehoon, Jinwoo, and Hyun shoved the door fully open and barged in, Sungwoo trailing behind, holding a cup of hotel coffee and shaking his head at the chaos. Minji, Jinwoo, and Hyun immediately hopped on Ruby’s bed like excited middle schoolers while Jaehoon sat cross-legged on the carpet, eyes wide with anticipation.
Ruby groaned, rubbing her eyes. “Y’all are insane… Let me brush my teeth first at least—”
“NOPE! Spill first, brush later!” Hyun insisted.
“Was it romantic?” Jinwoo added with a grin. “Did you two kiss? Did he hold your hand?”
“What did he smell like? Expensive cologne?” asked Minji.
“Tell us everything, women,” demanded Hyun.
With a dramatic sigh, Ruby flopped back onto the bed. “Okay, okay! Dinner was really nice. He was super sweet. We talked about everything—music, fashion, family… and he actually listens. Like, really listens.”
“Ooohh,” Minji squealed, hugging a pillow to her chest. “Did he compliment you?”
Ruby hesitated a moment, then bit her lip. “Yeah… there was this one part where he said I looked really cool on stage. But then later, I made a comment about how I was still trying to get in shape and he said… ‘Girls shouldn't be too skinny. You're perfect the way you're.’”
The room exploded.
“WHAT?!”
“ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!”
“STOP, MY HEART CAN’T HANDLE THIS!”
Jaehoon actually fell backward onto the floor from the force of his own excitement. Hyun and Jinwoo screamed into a pillow. Minji looked like she was on the verge of tears. Sungwoo gave Ruby a thumbs-up, sipping his coffee with a grin.
And then—
Ding.
Ruby’s phone lit up with a message from Felix.
Minji lunged for it. “Oop—what’s this? A text from Felix?”
Ruby sat up quickly and snatched the phone, unlocking it to read:
Felix 🐥: Good morning, sleepyhead ☀️ Hope you had sweet dreams. Thinking of you.
Her eyes widened and her cheeks flushed a rosy pink. “He just texted me ‘good morning.’”
The girls lunged toward her phone like moths to a flame.
“OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!”
“He really is a green flag.”
“Can we all just agree he’s the standard now?”
As the girls squealed, another message popped up.
Felix 🐥: Are you flying back to Korea today? Or are you staying in Paris a little longer?
Ruby’s fingers moved quickly.
Ruby 💫: Morning! I’m flying back to Korea today, sadly. What about you?
Not even a minute passed before:
Felix 🐥: Me too! What time’s your flight?
Her jaw dropped slightly as she typed back her flight details. Within seconds—
Felix 🐥: Wait… no way. That’s my flight too!
Ruby’s eyes widened. “Guys…” she said slowly, “He’s on the same flight.”
Minji shrieked. “ARE YOU KIDDING?!”
Jinwoo jumped on the bed. “Okay, we’re making you airport-fashion ready. Like, the main character walking into the terminal level.”
Minji shouted, “YOU HAVE TO DRESS CUTE FOR THE AIRPORT!”
“Let’s pick your outfit NOW!”
What followed was pure chaos — Jinwoo and Minji tearing through Ruby’s suitcase while Jaehoon and Hyun consulted Pinterest for ‘casual but romantic airport looks.’ Sungwoo stayed calm, secretly filming it all for blackmail material. Eventually, they settled on a soft cream knit sweater, high-waisted jeans, ankle boots, and a long camel coat — cozy but chic, and perfect for the Paris breeze.
Later at the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport – Departure Lounge
Ruby clutched her carry-on, walking with her team through the wide terminal, dressed in the perfect mix of chic and cozy: a belted wool coat, soft cashmere sweater, black boots, and subtle makeup with her hair tucked under a beret. Her heart pounded in her chest like a drum. As they entered the business class check-in lounge, she spotted them instantly.
Stray Kids.
All dressed sleek and travel-ready. Bang Chan waved first, followed by Hyunjin and Seungmin. But her eyes were already searching for one person — and then there he was.
Felix turned as if he sensed her before she even entered. His face lit up the second he saw her, the brightest smile curling his lips. He gave her a little wave and a soft, “Hey,” with a smile that warmed her from the inside out.
Both teams greeted each other warmly, exchanging polite bows and playful banter. Ruby and Felix didn’t speak much in the crowd, but their eyes met constantly.
Soon, boarding was called for business class, and everyone shuffled into the plane. Ruby reached her seat by the window, setting down her laptop and headphones. Her plan was to work on the new song she had been writing — a brooding yet melodic track with subtle guitar layers. As she opened her DAW, she glanced to her side—
And blinked.
“Felix?!”
He was sliding into the seat beside her, a cheeky grin on his face. “Hey again.”
“I thought my manager was sitting there?”
“I may or may not have asked him if I could switch seats. He didn’t seem to mind,” Felix said, scratching the back of his head with a playful tilt of his head. “I thought it’d be nice to talk more.”
Ruby’s heart fluttered. “I’m not complaining.”
As the plane took off and the city of Paris disappeared beneath the clouds, the two talked quietly, side by side. They laughed about Ruby’s band freaking out that morning, and Felix admitted he had told his members very little.
“They’ll tease me endlessly if they find out,” he said with a playful pout. “But… maybe I’ll let them.”
They swapped earbuds for a bit and listened to each other’s playlists—Ruby introduced him to a hauntingly beautiful ballad she’d been working on, and Felix showed her a track idea he’d been producing.
“It’s so cool that we can make this kind of stuff,” Ruby said as the track faded out. “It’s like magic.”
“You’re like magic,” he said under his breath.
She turned her head, eyes meeting his, both of them blushing like teens at their first crush.
Time passed softly. As the hum of the engine grew more soothing and the in-flight lights dimmed, Ruby got sleepy. she tried to fight it, rubbing her eyes and leaning against the window. She started to grow drowsy. She stifled a yawn and leaned her head against the window, eyes fluttering closed.
But the bumps and movements of the plane kept gently knocking her head into the glass.
Felix noticed.
Felix gently reached over and eased her head off the glass, guiding it onto his shoulder. She murmured something unintelligible but didn’t stir, nestling against him instinctively.
He glanced down, watching her peaceful face.
A strand of hair fell across her cheek, and he brushed it away carefully. His lips curled into the softest smile.
For a moment, the noise of the plane, the pressure of schedules, and the world beyond their little business class cabin all disappeared.
He rested his cheek lightly against her head, then Felix closed his eyes and leaned his head gently against hers. The soft scent of her shampoo calmed his nerves.
And in that quiet space — 30,000 feet above the ground — something warm and unspoken settled between them.
Tumblr media
The plane descended through soft clouds, Seoul’s skyline gradually coming into view under the golden afternoon light. Inside the business class cabin, the world was quiet — most passengers still dozing or listening to music.
Felix, waking up, stretched slightly and pulled out his phone, the brightness of the screen lighting up his face. A small red notification pinged from the group chat labeled “SKZ Family”.
Han: Bro… open this ASAP 😭😭😭
Curious, Felix tapped the message.
Han: Look at y’all being a whole K-drama couple 😭💘
Attached was a photo.
It was taken from across the aisle — blurry enough to be lowkey but clear enough to see the moment: Felix fast asleep with Ruby’s head resting on his shoulder, both their expressions peaceful, the soft morning light casting a dreamy glow on their features.
Tumblr media
His heart did a full somersault.
He blinked at the screen, smiling like an idiot. The moment had felt sweet and natural, but seeing it from the outside… it really did look like something out of a drama. Like they were meant to be there — next to each other.
He saved the photo instantly, and a few minutes later, he went back to sleep.
A few minutes later, Ruby stirred gently, her lashes fluttering before her eyes slowly opened. She blinked against the soft light filtering through the window and realized… her head wasn’t against the glass anymore.
It was resting against Felix’s shoulder.
And then it hit her he hadn’t moved her the entire time.
She smiled to herself, warmth blooming in her chest, and stayed there for just a moment longer before she gently sat up straight. As she moved, Felix stirred, blinking slowly.
“Oh… hey,” he said groggily, his deep morning voice even huskier from the nap.
Ruby tried to play it cool, though the tips of her ears were bright red. “Hey. Did you sleep okay?”
He nodded, a sleepy grin spreading across his face. “Best nap I’ve had on a plane… ever.”
They exchanged a knowing look, full of softness and things unspoken, and then the captain’s voice announced their arrival. As the plane began its descent, Ruby tucked away her laptop, while Felix pulled out his phone, his thumb hesitating over the screen.
Then he looked over at her, smirking a little.
“I’m really glad we were on the same flight.”
Ruby smiled, fingers playing with the hem of her sweater. “Me too.”
The teams moved quickly through immigration, escorted by their managers and security. As soon as they passed into the public area, the soft hum of the airport was immediately replaced by the unmistakable sound of fans screaming and cameras flashing.
Ruby and Felix both adjusted their sunglasses and masks, walking out but with enough space to not draw immediate attention. Still, the fans were sharp — they always were. Shouts of “Ruby! Stray Kids! Felix! Bang Chan! Han! I.N! Hyunjin! Changbin! ” and “Lee Know! Seungmin!” echoed around them.
But somehow, even amidst the noise, the two of them exchanged shy glances, a hidden smile behind every step.
Once they passed the frenzy and reached the private car area, their teams began saying their goodbyes. Stray Kids’ van pulled up first.
Felix turned to her, rubbing the back of his neck. “Hey… thanks again. For everything. That flight was one of the best I’ve had.”
Ruby nodded, her voice soft. “Same. I… liked spending time with you.”
He looked at her for a moment like he was about to say something else—something more—but then Minji came up behind Ruby, dragging her suitcase and calling, “Come on, Ruby! The car’s here!”
Felix took a small step closer and lowered his voice. “Can I… text you later? Or maybe call?”
Ruby’s heart skipped. “Of course. Anytime.”
He grinned, eyes crinkling with warmth. “Okay. Get some rest, yeah?”
“You too, Lix.”
As he turned to leave, Ruby called after him, just loud enough for him to hear over the noise.
“Hey, Felix?”
He paused.
“I’m really glad it was you next to me on that flight.”
Felix’s ears turned pink. He gave her a small, heartfelt nod, then disappeared into his van.
Later – Stray Kids Dorms, Seoul
It was well past midnight when they all returned to the dorms. Most of the guys were half-asleep, tossing their bags aside and shuffling into their rooms. But Felix lingered in the hallway, phone in hand, staring again at that picture.
He found Han sitting on the couch with a bowl of cereal, one leg folded under him and a mischievous look already forming.
“You’re welcome, by the way,” Han said through a grin.
Felix plopped down beside him with a sheepish smile. “You really snapped that, huh?”
“I mean,” Han shrugged dramatically, “you two were literally radiating rom-com lead couple energy. I had to.”
Felix laughed, looking down at the photo again. His thumb hovered over the screen like he didn’t want to let it go.
Han’s smile softened. “You like her, don’t you?”
Felix looked up slowly, meeting his best friend’s eyes. “Yeah. I do.”
Han didn’t say anything right away — he just nodded, the playful energy fading into something more genuine.
“It’s not just a crush?” he asked quietly.
Felix leaned back, his voice thoughtful. “It’s different. Like, with Ruby… I don’t have to try to be anything. We just talk and laugh, and it’s easy. She listens. She sees me. And today on the plane, I didn’t even mean to fall asleep, but when I woke up and realized she’d been leaning on me like that? I didn’t want to move. I just wanted to stay there forever.”
Han stirred his cereal slowly, smiling into the bowl. “That’s kinda poetic, dude.”
Felix chuckled softly. “Maybe I’m turning into a romantic.”
“You always were,” Han replied. “You’re just finally meeting someone who brings it out of you.”
There was a brief pause before Han added more seriously, “You look happy. Like, real happy.”
Felix’s expression turned soft, his voice quieter. “I am. I don’t know what’s gonna happen next, or how fast it’ll go, but… if it’s with her, I don’t mind taking my time.”
Han grinned. “You better treat her right. Or I’m leaking that photo with a cringe caption.”
Felix laughed and gently shoved him. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Oh, I would. ‘Star-crossed lovers napping at 30,000 feet.’ Viral in minutes.”
Felix rolled his eyes, still smiling. “Thanks, Han. For the pic. And for always having my back.”
Han lifted his spoon in salute. “Always, bro. Now go dream about your girl.”
Felix stood and started toward his room, the photo still glowing softly on his screen. Before he disappeared down the hall, he looked back.
“Hey, Han?”
“Yeah?”
“I think this might be something real.”
Han’s expression softened, eyes warm. “I think so too.”
And with that, Felix closed his door behind him — heart full, photo saved, and dreams already taking him back to her.

Oppa or Sunbae?
Tumblr media
The Weekly Idol studio was buzzing with excitement as today’s guests, SHINee, sat across from the three hosts—Ruby, Kwanghee, and Super Junior’s Eunhyuk. The legendary group had returned to promote their new album, and fans had eagerly submitted a list of questions for the hosts to ask.
Ruby sat comfortably between Kwanghee and Eunhyuk, flipping through her cue cards. As a junior artist under SM Entertainment, she deeply respected SHINee. However, when it came to one particular member, she found herself unintentionally treating him just a little differently.
Eunhyuk leaned forward with a mischievous grin. “Alright, SHINee, we’ve collected some fan-submitted questions, and today, we’re going to ask them all. No avoiding answers!”
Kwanghee clapped. “That’s right! Be honest, okay?”
SHINee laughed, nodding in agreement.
Ruby adjusted her microphone and glanced down at her question card. “Fan amberx456 wants to let you know that…” she started before looking up at Taemin. Without thinking, she continued, “Taemin oppa—”
Eunhyuk’s hand shot up. “Wait, wait, wait!” He turned to look at her, eyes wide with amusement. “Taemin… oppa?”
The SHINee members perked up, some exchanging glances while Key smirked.
Eunhyuk pointed at Onew, Key, and Minho. “All throughout the show, these three are just Onew sunbae, Key sunbae, Minho sunbae… but him—” he dramatically pointed at Taemin “—he’s Taemin oppa?”
The entire studio erupted in laughter.
Ruby, caught completely off guard, froze for a second before covering her mouth with her cue cards, her cheeks turning a shade of pink. “Ah…” she chuckled nervously, “Well… all of them are my sunbaes.”
Kwanghee, who had been waiting for an opportunity to tease, grinned. “Then why is Taemin the only one getting called oppa?”
Ruby, now visibly flustered, peeked at Taemin before quickly looking away. “B-Because… he’s Taemin oppa.”
Taemin, amused by her cuteness, burst into laughter, his body shaking slightly as he tried to contain it. “That’s a good answer.”
Key leaned toward Minho. “Did we just get demoted?”
Minho nodded solemnly. “I think so.”
Onew pouted. “Ruby, I thought we were close…”
Ruby quickly waved her hands. “No, no! You’re all important! I respect all of you!”
Eunhyuk, loving every second of this, leaned closer. “Wow… you must really be nervous.”
Ruby groaned in embarrassment. “What do I do? Let’s just move on!”
Kwanghee smirked. “Not so fast, Ruby. We’re having fun.”
Ruby pouted. “You’re having fun teasing me…”
Eunhyuk tapped his chin. “So, let’s ask a real question now.” He turned to her with an innocent smile that Ruby didn’t trust for a second. “Ruby, do you like Taemin oppa the most out of SHINee?”
Ruby’s mouth dropped open. “What?! No—I mean, yes—No, wait! I like all of them!”
SHINee laughed at her flustered state, while Kwanghee leaned forward with a knowing look. “Are you saying you’re a Shawol?”
“Yes! That’s what I mean! I’m a Shawol!” she declared, as if trying to divert attention.
Key clapped. “Nice save.”
Minho chuckled. “A very suspicious save.”
Eunhyuk wasn’t done. “Alright, let’s say—hypothetically, of course—all of us were drowning in the ocean.”
Ruby blinked. “Why are we drowning?”
Kwanghee waved his hand dismissively. “That’s not important. What’s important is that you can only save one person. Who would you save first?”
Ruby gasped dramatically. “How can you ask me that?! That’s too cruel!”
Key nudged Minho. “This is fun.”
Ruby giggled nervously, shifting in her seat. “I-I would save all of them.”
Eunhyuk raised an eyebrow. “Nope. You have to pick one.”
The studio fell silent for a second as everyone eagerly awaited her response.
Then, out of nowhere, Minho casually said, “Taemin oppa.”
The room exploded with laughter.
Ruby immediately covered her face with her cue cards, her shoulders shaking as she laughed. Taemin, on the other hand, simply smirked, clearly enjoying her reaction.
“I-I would save all of them!” Ruby insisted, though her bright red face betrayed her.
Kwanghee clutched his chest. “Ah, what a difficult choice to make.” He then leaned toward her again. “But wait, Ruby. Before we got sidetracked, what were you saying earlier?”
Ruby, still hiding behind her cue cards, peeked out. “Huh?”
“You were saying Taemin oppa is…” Kwanghee prompted with a playful grin.
The studio once again quieted down, all eyes on Ruby.
She sighed dramatically, finally lowering her cue cards. Taking a deep breath, she looked Taemin straight in the eye and said, “Taemin oppa is… very cool and talented-”
The way she said it so sincerely made the room burst into loud “Ooooohs~”
Taemin, clearly flattered, smiled warmly. “Thank you, Ruby.”
Eunhyuk gasped. “Wait, you’re not embarrassed anymore?”
Ruby shook her head, feeling slightly braver now. “First of all, this is a fan's comment, not mine. Which I agree with, because it’s the truth. Taemin oppa is amazing, and I really respect him.”
Kwanghee wiped away a fake tear. “Ah, what a wholesome moment.”
Minho, however, wasn’t done teasing. “So, that means she’d still save Taemin oppa first, right?”
Ruby immediately hid behind her cue cards again. “Aish, let’s move on!”
After the hilarious moment where Ruby accidentally exposed her habit of calling Taemin "oppa," the Weekly Idol studio was still buzzing with energy.
Kwanghee clapped his hands. "Alright! It’s time for our next game—Investigation!”
Eunhyuk smirked. "That’s right! This game is simple. We attach a heartbeat monitor to one of you, and we ask questions. If your heart rate stays the same, it means nothing’s going on, but if it spikes—"
Kwanghee pointed dramatically. "—then you have something to hide!"
SHINee laughed, and Ruby, who had been standing on the side quietly, clapped her hands. “This sounds fun!”
Eunhyuk turned to the group. "Now, who should we test first?”
Key immediately pointed at Taemin. "Taemin! His poker face is too strong, let’s see if his heart can lie as well as his face!"
Minho smirked. "Yeah, I don’t trust that neutral expression of his."
Taemin chuckled but nodded. “Alright, let’s do it.”
A staff member quickly strapped the heartbeat monitor onto Taemin’s wrist. The initial reading showed 88 BPM—steady and calm.
Kwanghee leaned in. “Okay, let’s start with something basic.”
Eunhyuk rubbed his hands together. “First question: Taemin, do you like ice cream?”
Taemin nodded. “Yes.”
His heartbeat remained steady.
Kwanghee grinned. “Okay, then… have you ever watched a drama that made you cry?”
Taemin chuckled. “Of course.”
Again, no major change.
Eunhyuk pretended to be deep in thought. “Alright, let’s ask something more interesting… Taemin, is there somebody you like recently?”
As soon as the words left Eunhyuk’s mouth—Taemin’s heartbeat jumped from 88 to 104 BPM.
The studio erupted in chaos.
Kwanghee’s eyes widened as he pointed at the monitor. “What’s going on?! It just shot up!”
Onew gasped dramatically. "Wow~"
Key laughed, smacking Minho’s shoulder. "Did you see that?!"
Ruby, who had been quietly watching, covered her mouth in surprise.
Taemin, realizing what just happened, immediately waved his hands. "No, no, no! This machine is weird!"
Eunhyuk wasn’t convinced. He smirked. "Taemin… is there somebody?"
Taemin giggled nervously, shaking his head. "Nope. No one!"
But his heart rate told a different story—it kept rising.
Minho laughed. “Taemin, your face is getting red.”
Kwanghee pointed at him dramatically. "Taemin, why is your face so red? Is there something you’re hiding?"
Taemin, still giggling, shook his head frantically. "No, no, no!"
Eunhyuk raised an eyebrow. “Let’s be more specific. Is she an idol?”
As soon as the word "idol" was mentioned, Taemin’s heartbeat spiked again.
The room went wild.
Key clapped. "Ohhh, it’s getting higher!"
Onew covered his mouth in shock. "It’s like watching a detective movie!"
Ruby, still standing off to the side, watched the situation unfold with wide eyes.
Eunhyuk held up his hand. “Let’s stop for a second and let his heartbeat calm down.”
After a few moments, Taemin’s heart rate returned to normal.
Kwanghee leaned forward. “Okay, so let’s recap. His heartbeat spiked the most when we asked if the person he likes is an idol… Let’s investigate more!”
SHINee clapped, enjoying the chaos.
Kwanghee smirked. “Okay, let’s narrow it down. Taemin, is she in a girl group?”
Taemin’s heartbeat remained steady.
Eunhyuk nodded. “Alright… then, is she a solo artist?”
The second the words left Eunhyuk’s mouth—Taemin’s heartbeat spiked again!
The entire room exploded in laughter.
Taemin buried his face in his hands, shaking his head. "Nooo, this machine is lying!"
Key pointed at the monitor. "The machine doesn’t lie, Taemin!"
Minho grinned. "This is amazing."
Eunhyuk rubbed his chin. “Alright, next question—let’s see if we can find out more. Taemin, is she traveling at the moment?”
Taemin’s heartbeat stayed the same.
Kwanghee’s eyes twinkled. “Then… is she here in Korea?”
Spike.
Taemin burst into laughter, his face getting even redder.
Minho clapped. “Oh wow, he can’t even hide it anymore.”
Key covered his mouth in fake shock. “The mystery girl is here! In Korea!”
Ruby, who had been quietly watching, blinked. Wait… this is starting to sound suspicious.
Kwanghee suddenly got an idea. He turned to Ruby and grabbed her by the wrist, pulling her forward.
Ruby, startled, looked around. “Eh? What’s happening?”
Kwanghee dramatically pointed at her. “Taemin, is she here? In the room?”
The second Ruby was placed in front of Taemin—his heartbeat went higher than ever.
The entire room erupted into chaos.
“OH MY GOD!”
“IT JUMPED AGAIN!”
Onew fell to the floor laughing. “This is too funny!”
Key dramatically covered his eyes. “I can’t watch this!”
Minho laughed. "Taemin, you’re doomed."
Eunhyuk grinned. “Alright, let’s get to the real question. Taemin, is it Ruby?”
The monitor went wild.
Taemin immediately threw his hands up. "I think this machine is rigged!"
Everyone burst into laughter.
Kwanghee leaned toward Ruby and whispered something in her ear. Ruby’s eyes widened, but she quickly covered her giggle.
Taking a deep breath, she turned to Taemin, placed her hands on her cheeks, and in the cutest voice possible, said—
"Oppa~!"
Taemin’s heartbeat went absolutely crazy.
Key fell to the floor laughing. “HE’S GONE!”
Minho gasped. "Oh wow, it’s still going up!"
Eunhyuk wiped fake tears. "This is too good."
Onew clutched his chest dramatically. "I feel like I just witnessed a love confession!"
Kwanghee clapped. "It looks like Taemin is good at controlling his expressions… but his heart gave him away!"
Minho leaned in, looking at the monitor. “Wait… it’s still beating fast.”
Key smirked. “Get Ruby away from him! She’s going to give him a heart attack!”
The entire studio burst into uncontrollable laughter, while Taemin groaned and covered his face in embarrassment.
Kwanghee wiped imaginary sweat from his forehead. “Wow, I don’t think we’ll ever top that moment!”
Eunhyuk smirked, looking at Taemin, who was still red-faced and covering his mouth with his hands. “I don’t know, Kwanghee. I think we should investigate further.”
Onew laughed. “Poor Taemin, he hasn’t recovered yet.”
Minho nodded. “His heart is still racing. Should we call a doctor?”
Key cackled. “Forget a doctor. We should just separate him from her,” he said, pointing at Ruby.
Ruby, who had been giggling behind her cue cards, waved her hands in protest. “What did I do?!”
The SHINee members burst into laughter.
And just like that, this episode of Weekly Idol became an instant classic—one that Shawols would rewatch forever.
