so here for hannibal fucking will into silence…you know those fics where will is real responsive in bed? real mouthy and vocal? what if … what if i offer you the idea that sometimes, will gets so overwhelmed by the feeling of hannibal inside of him, so overwhelmed by their connection, and so overwhelmed by his love for hannibal that he literally just. goes blank as he cums. 404 error, will simply cannot compute. lights are not on, absolutely no one is home. he just goes completely limp in hannibal’s arms, eyes rolling, heart rabbitting away, mouth open, but no sounds or words come out because will is just gone.

On the parallelism between Hannibal's greatest flaw and Franklyn

Throughout the story, Franklyn is obsessed with Hannibal. He's desperate for his attention and friendship, which Hannibal brushes off with calm indifference. It's clear from the beginning that Hannibal just does not like him, and we assume it's because he's snivelly and interrupts Hannibal's Personal Bubble Of Clean with his snotty tissues. However, we see that it's more than just dirty tissues - Hannibal sees Franklyn as a mirror of the flaws within himself.

All his life Hannibal has been in control. His person suit has been tailored to perfection, every aspect of his personality carefully crafted, allowing him to control his life and culminate relationships as he sees fit. He's still alone, but he's learned to live with it.

But then Will comes along, throwing his entire world upside down. Will presents the opportunity for true understanding, acceptance, and Hannibal becomes obsessed with this ("'I'm curious about him,' 'obsessively'",). He spends much of his time ingratiating himself into Will's life, chasing that opportunity ("You're fostering codependency...You don't want me to have anything that's not you,").

That's where we begin to see his flaw: His desperation to be seen by Will is so immense and consuming that it tears apart the threads of control he's sewn his person suit so carefully with. Hannibal's aware of it too, and purposely let's it consume him ("I let you know me, see me. I gave you a rare gift,").

But despite all that, Will is yet to realize his own feelings, and instead regards Hannibal with the very same indifference he showed Franklyn. Hannibal is quick to realize both his obsession with Will and Will's "just keep it professional" attitude towards him. However this realization comes with another: that he and Franklyn are more alike than he thought - they are parallels of eachother. We see it in these two images, which I love as they portray the concept quite well: Franklyn, desperate for Hannibal's friendship, leaning towards Hannibal's closed-off posture. Hannibal, his near-identical posture and in the same seat as Franklyn, leaning towards Will's indifferent posture.

He knows that his obsession with Will is his greatest flaw, and he sees it reflected back to him through Franklyn.

Insane things that Will did that make him much worse than Hannibal:

He had a gun with him when Hannibal stabbed him and he didn't even try to fight back, he let himself be held as his bowels were falling out

He foreplayed with his therapist during therapy

He had to be stopped from shooting a guy crawling out of a horse all because he had psychosexual rage towards his therapist and wanted to take it out on the guy he was supposed to catch

Flew to Europe to sneak around Hannibal's old property, called the scar on his stomach a 'smile' and forced Chiyoh to kill the guy she's been keeping a prisoner because he wanted to see what she would do, then turned his corpse into a grotesque art piece with no witnesses to that

He sailed to Europe and told the detective there that 'he doesn't know what he'll do when he sees Hannibal so he should be careful' ?? (brother you're there to catch Hannibal....)

He sat with Hannibal in the gallery saying the most romantic shit ever, failed to stab him and then he just let Hannibal dig the bullet out and drug him??? (you can't convince me he didn't have an ounce of energy to fight back or see that coming mr I tell the future with senses)

He started combing his hair back after Hannibal tried to saw open his brain... ok whore

He got jealous when Hannibal started admiring a serial killer

He never once complained about eating Hannibal's cooking & he KNEW it was people...

How to Write a Realistic Hospital Au/Setting

Because I’m frustrated with real life work stuff :( I’ve decided to distract myself by doing this. Disclaimer: I obviously only have my own country (the Handsome Ryan Factory) as reference, so if this isn’t how it is where you’re from, sorry. :/

The Environment

Hospitals do not smell like disinfectants. Hospitals smells like….nothing. If it’s a nice hospital and the facilities are relatively new/renovated, hospitals are generally scentless places (the ventilation system is better). The only time it’ll smell like disinfectants is when the housekeeping staff just cleaned a room after a patient has been discharged. Older hospitals and units like internal medicine which takes care of a lot of longer term patients and older folks smell…well not great. It seems like people and bodily fluids.  

Hospitals are cold. The OR is even colder (unless for whatever reason you need it to be warm for a specific procedure). 

Background noise. There are machines making noises the background, little beeps of the IV pumps or the heart monitor. Normal beeps are slow, alerts are fast. 

Intercom - every time something happens that requires a code to be called, it’ll come on the intercom and the entire hospital hears it. Common ones are: code blue = adult cardiac arrest (ex: Code Blue - K6, Code Blue K6) They tell you what the code is and where to go. The code team (usually an ICU team) will show up. Code pink = neonatal cardiac arrest. Code red = fire. Code yellow = missing patient. Code white = violent encounter (security will be called up). Code orange = external disaster (a train derailed). Code Silver = deadly weapons (gun, knife). Code Brown = hazardous spill. Code Black - bomb threat/suspcious object. Code Green= evacuation Etc. 

There will be rooms on “precaution”. Signs will show up on certain doors/rooms, because that patient might have some kind of communicable disease through contact/droplet/air. 

The Staff

Nurses are not rude (unless you’re writing a rude character). I see a lot of “the good tough nurse” caricatures where it’s like jab and shove - No. A good nurse can be assertive, can be knowledgeable, can be no non-sense, but they shouldn’t be rude and patient consent is always present. If a patient says they don’t want a shot, they don’t get the shot. No matter how seasoned, how tough, how burned out a nurse is, everyone is habituated to start a conversation with introducing themselves. “Hi, Mr/Ms/Mrs/Miss ____, my name is _______ and I will be your nurse today.” Once the nurse and the patient is acquainted with each other, they can be a little bit more casual. 

Hand washing is a constant thing. The most often thing you see is staff rubbing their hands together in and out of rooms because they just pumped a handful of hand sanitizer. 

There are other people other than the medical and nursing staff. Personal Support Workers (PSWs) are very present and they help with the washing and the bathing, and changing incontinence briefs. Nurses also do this as well in some hospitals. You might see Nurse Managers come around for administrative stuff (ie discharge), Physiology Therapy and Occupational Therapist will make their rounds on those that need it (especially after an accident), Speech Language Pathologists for those with swallowing problems after a stroke. Social Worker for those who are going through a difficult life situation. 

The medical team gets confusing. Because there are medical students (clerks), junior residents, senior residents, and there are attendings. Your patient character can be confused. 

Internal Medicine - the “ologys” : general internal medicine is where typically a lot of folks get admitted. The doctors who take care of these people are internists. Other popular sub specialties of internal medicine that sometimes get their own wing/unit are: cardiology, neurology, respirology and oncology. If a specific specialty is needed, the doctors of that specialty is paged for a consult.  

Surgery - do not have every surgical specialty in one team. That’s not how the surgical teams are divided. If one of your character is in Gen surg, and the other is in Neuro, they’re not gonna be spending their day constantly bumping into each other unless their surgeries are adjacent OR rooms for some reason. Their patients probably won’t even be on the same unit. 

If you’re writing surgery, don’t forget Anesthesiology. Patients coming out of surgeries can either go to PACU  Post Anesthesia Care Unit or the ICU (intensive care unit). 

Specialists can read scans by themselves, but most of them time, they need a Radiologist to do it. Biopsies are processed and read by pathologists. 

The Action 

If a patient flat lines, don’t “shock” or defibrillate them. TV shows constantly gets it wrong. The only two shock-able rhythms are ventricular fibrillation (V-fib) and ventricular tachycardia (v-tach). (There are other pathological rhythms that require cardioversion, but we won’t get into it). Your fictional patient could still have a rhythm and be unconscious. 

If a patient is unconscious or has either V-fib or V-tach or flatlined, call Code Blue. Literally have one of your character say it, “Call Code Blue.” Or press the code blue button that’s above the bed on the wall. 

If a patient flat-lines, your characters should start CPR and inject epinephrine (1mg and every 3-5 minutes). 

Don’t “lost 3L of blood”. If they did…they’re gone. Exsanguinated…unless they’re being transfused at the same time. A 70 kilo man typically has 5L of blood. A lot of preg fics have the woman lose a ton of blood during childbirth. Remember 500cc or 500 mL of blood in a nonsurgical setting is considered hemorrhage, and 1L in surgical setting. As a 5′3′’ female I can tell you I probably only have 2-3L of blood in my body. 

Things to talk about in conversation between two staff: heart rate (normal in adult 60-100), blood pressure (ex” 120/80 systolic/diastolic) normal systolic 100-140 normal diastolic 60-90); respiratory rate (normal 12-20 per minute), O2Sat (you want most people above 95%), temperature.

Red blood cell count and hemoglobin being low indicate anemia. High white blood cell count typically mean infection. Electrolytes can be out of wack: sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, are some of the typical ones. Blood pH can be either high or low. High pH is alkalosis. Low pH is acidosis. 

Hypothermia (because this is a popular one). Don’t do what Rose did in Titanic. You’re not dead until you’re warm and dead. Rewarming for severe hypothermia should be slow and in a hospital setting. For mild to moderate hypothermia, if it helps with your plot, yeah they can cuddle skin to skin.

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

i get that miles being sheltered to punk culture/ideas is an easy assumption, considering his parents' attitude towards gwen, but like. i really really want to pose to you all miles morales the graffiti artist, who's incredibly aware that his dad wouldn't defend him if he was arrested, but still believes in and makes public art. miles morales the black scholarship kid at a predominantly white school that treats him in equal turns like a snowflake, a loose cannon and a charity case, who in one of the novels gets suspended for calling out & starting a protest against his racist history teacher. miles morales who in that same novel gave his own cash to a pickpocket he had to stop after giving him a chance to surrender. miles morales who keeps getting told to shut up & back down but doesn't, even if it's "for his own good". miles morales who after being told he'd never fit into a system that should've helped him said "then fuck your system" and electrocuted the leader.

miles morales might not be punk aesthetically, but he gets it. he gets it more than a lot of so-called "punks" do.

aight. have some nimona canon divergence AU fic ideas because i’m no writer but i AM going insane

as a huge fan of canon divergence AUs where One Small Decision Changes Everything™ i can’t stop thinking about little bits and pieces from the nimona movie like:

what if the squire had shown ambrosius the video (ohh a fic like this would be Delicious) (mm ambrosius x squire tag team) (ballister’s two biggest fans) (this might be one of my favorite ideas so far) (lots of potential here i feel like)

now there have been a lot of people asking “let’s feel some ANGST what if real ambrosius had walked into the director’s office before nimona” but i will take that and raise you: what if ambrosius had walked in while nimona was doing her thing in the director’s office. perhaps around the time when the director stabbed fake!ambrosius. please consider. may the chaos ensue

ballister had noticed his sword-laser-cannon powering up and moved it away from the queen but it hit something else! or someOne else! (or it killed the queen anyway but still hit somebody else in the process) (oh gods what if it took off his own arm) (or even ambrosius’s—) (can you imagine the kinda twist that would occur if he took off ambrosius’s arm by accident and ballister not resting until he found out who the real culprit is skdjdjdjdjddj) (oh but wait let me make this WORSE what if he hit ambrosius instead of the queen ((don’t worry ambrosius is wearing armor, he doesn’t die he’s just,,, gravely injured?)) and ballister, even if he still gets framed for it, will stop at nothing to find out who did this to ambrosius) (now incorporate nimona into that storyline and hoohoohoo) (i’m rubbing my hands together like a maniacal fruit fly right now)

what if they had uploaded the squire’s video when they got it huh. what then. back it up to the cloud. or just TEXT it to ambrosius you Fool. you absolute Buffoon. (but perhaps this seemingly obvious course of action results in some unexpectedly dire consequences oh no—)

“ooh… nemesis.” “nemesis?” at which point nimona and ballister get stuck in the closet, nimona reveals her shapeshifting abilities, and oh, screw it, if ballister’s situation with his arm-chopping nemesis is really so cOmPLiCAteD then maybe since they’re breaking out of jail anyway they might as well kidnap ambrosius while they’re at it. aka the au where nimona breaks ballister out of jail and she takes ambrosius with them. (i am FEASTING on the possibilities of this one)

let’s take todd’s suspicion and blame directed towards ambrosius (“why didn’t you tell us ballister was working with whales?”) and dial that up to 100. slowly, though, not too fast, it’s gotta build momentum. let’s breed some mistrust in ambrosius. let’s see people refusing to let ambrosius lead the manhunt for ballister on account of their close relationship. let’s see people turn their backs on him thinking he was a conspirator. let’s see ambrosius losing the public’s favor. let’s see ambrosius starting to feel some doubt when he’s alone in his room — let’s see ambrosius wondering what if people are actually as wrong about ballister as he knows they are about ambrosius himself. (what if everybody hates ambrosius too—)

this one is not nearly as straightforward a canon divergence but ponder this: the director noticed the squire was there in the locker room (?) that day and swapped out the swords after the squire had left. or maybe she swapped it out before the squire was ever there. the squire never knew the director had been there. there was no video evidence. now what? up to you >:)

ok hear me out. the squire is a #1 ballister fan right. the squire is probably very careful with the swords and armor he handles. the squire is probably intimately familiar with the swords and other various weaponry and armaments of the institution. the squire is probably very familiar with ballister’s in particular. when ballister first picked up his swapped-out sword he noticed something was off about it, but what if — WHAT IF — the squire had noticed something was off about it first. now of course there’s Possibility #1 where he sees the director swap the sword, and then he checks out the sword and feels that something is wrong with it etc etc (or maybe he mistakes the sword change for an equipment upgrade) BUT now let’s combine this with the previous bullet point for Possibility #2 where the squire DIDN’T see the director swap the sword but he DID notice something was off about the sword before ballister did and actually investigated it. would he discover the hidden weapon, or not? if he did would he bring it to ballister’s attention? ambrosius’s? the director’s? what if he caught the hidden weapon but didn’t mention it and then the queen died and the squire was left fully believing ballister killed the queen (ballister knows mechanics, you’ve seen his arm, it’s plausible he built the weapon into his sword himself) and then ballister and nimona kidnapped him and interrogated him and ballister and the squire were left spiderman meme-ing each other like *points* “i thought YOU were behind all this!” and now the squire is an unwilling sidekick dragged into this by nimona and ballister to figure out who the real culprit is and there’s ACTION and ADVENTURE and COMEDY and it’s absolutely metal—

the squire really feels like a lynchpin in this story is all i’m sayin

if you can’t tell i’m also a fan of happy endings. in my brain most of these canon divergences result in a similar happy ending as the movie. except maybe faster (not always). which i enjoy because i’m sappy and silly anyway thank you and goodnight
