So when Ark'ay defies death and ascends to godhood everyone is okay with it.
But if father does it its a vile deed, unnatural and a unholy plan to unbalance creation.
I see how it is.

"Your choice is to either accept the death that is so close or to become a god with us. But a god is not an easy nor pleasant thing to be. As the god of death and birth you will spend eternity making sure that deaths and births stay in proper balance in the physical world. And, in spite of what you believe you understand, you will always agonize over whether your decisions are truly correct. How do you decide?"
--Mara, offering Ark'ay the choice to die or become a god.

Do necromancers know how to restore rotten or removed flesh? - a curious man
The answer of the run of the mill necromancer would be "yes" and include several unsatisfying and unsavory practices that leave a living subject more harmed than before.
The answer of a necromancer worth their salt would be that rotten meat has decomposed in a way that cannot be reversed. Rot can be slowed to a crawl. Completely stopped even if you know the right methods. But never be undone.
What can be done is various froms of... quasi living prosthetics. Or more ethical - prosthetics made from the subjects own body materials. It crosses heavily into various other schools of magic. And it takes quite the toll on the body. But it allows for quite some feats a more traditional prosthetic would not have.
And it doesn't cause anyone to give up limb and life for your new hand. Which is a concern for quite a few people. Though these usually don't ask necromamcers for help.

I'll say it again. Handle with care. And with gloves.
Did You Know: Handling a black soul gem is dangerous, and parts of your soul may leak into it when touched if it was not perfectly sized for the captured soul?

You did more than perk his interest. He has spend several hours discussing this set of pictures with anyone that would listen. And a few that wouldn't. But you know how it is. Father can be rather... determined.
To say he is very excited about the prospect of both more art and more discussion of this hypotetical universe would be an understatement.
I suspect the only reason he is not vibrating off his seat is because of centuries of training.

Decay is the soft nibble of time.
Rot is everything else tearing at what is left of your husk.
decay sounds more gentle than rot. when something decays, it is gently taken apart in it's comfortable eternal slumber. when something rots, it's violently taken apart with agony. in this essay i will

Do you put the romance in necromancer?
I did try to. Once. It was not that well received. Apparently gifts of flowers and pastries remain better gestures of affection and appreciation than bringing someone a hypoallergenic greeting in form of skeletal doves carrying paper hearts.

Both. Both is good. But don't mix them. Or do. But if your pie starts eating people and tries to digest you while you digest it don't complain to me.
