THE NIGHT STALKER: part 2
Richard Ramírez’s first known killing took place on 4/10/1984. He murdered nine year old Mei-Leung in a hotel basement around the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. First, he beat and raped the girl. Then proceeded to stab her to death and leave her body to dangle from a pipe. Since I won’t have enough caption space to describe each of the 13 murders and five attempted, here are the ones I find the most gruesome; 6/28/1984, Jennie Vincow (79) was found brutally murdered in Glasswell Park, Los Angeles. Stabbed repeatedly while asleep in her bed and nearly decapitated by how deep he had slashed her throat. 3/17/1985, Ramírez shot Maria Hernandez (22) in the face with his .22 caliber handgun. She survived when the bullet ricocheted off of her keys (they were in her hand, which she raised in self defense). He went into her apartment and killed her roommate, Dayle Okazaki (34), shooting him once in the forehead. Within an hour, Richard dragged Tsai-Lian Yu (30) out of her car in Monterey Park, shooting her twice using the .22. The two murders and one attempted within the same night gained constant attention from media/news outlets. Earning him the titles of “The Walk-in Intruder”, “The Valley Intruder” and “The Night Intruder”. At 2am on 3/27/1985, Richard entered a home he had burglarized a year earlier. Due to shooting a sleeping 64 year old man, Ramírez had woken up the 44 year old wife. After beating her and tying up her hands, she somehow managed to escape and grab a shotgun from under the bed. Upon realizing it wasn’t loaded, Richard grew infuriated and shot her three times. Not stopping there, he stabbed the woman several times, then gouged her eyes out. He put the eyes in a jewelry box and took them with him. His most used weapons consisted of: handguns, knives, a machete, a tire iron and a hammer.
