4to3 Conversion workflow/tutorial

Hi!

So, I know I haven't done that many, start to finish 4to3 conversions yet. But I experiment and help other people a lot behind the scenes, and I soak up teachings from knowledgeable people such as @simlicious @justmiha97 @thornowl @virtual-hugs, a little bit of @elvgreen and more people like a sponge, and have learnt a lot the past months. So I thought I'd write down what I do when I was working on the Aria dress! While it's a bit chaotic, this essentially functions as a very thorough 4to3 tutorial.

The above document contains my workflow, from start to finish. I use blender 3.6 (unless mentioned otherwise) and no milkshape at all.

It is VERY thorough, long, and can be lowkey overwhelming. I hope my table of contents at the beginning is clear enough. All the links are clickable, so you can just go to where it interests you. If you wonder about it, it's most likely in there, can be extrapolated from the information or I can brainstorm and experiment a how-to(-fix) if needed.

Some notes of what it includes:

Adapting the TS4 normal, specular and shadow maps to ts3

A clean finishing method to get EAXIS-like finishes that allows you to optimize the UV lay-out (nicer textures!) and further minimize clipping.

A quick texture making method to adapt the TS4 texture(s) to a brand new, potentially very different TS3 UV-layout. If you're lucky (it sometimes acts up) the actual texture-changing takes 5 seconds - puzzling the new UV lay-out beforehand would be the hardest part! (But it's also fun, puzzling!)

Very Precise bone assignment

Manually editing morphs, with some tricks for e.g. the fit morph...Why do fit morphs have such ugly boobs, even vanilla stuff?

Bonedelta editing to animate well with pregnant bellies or wide skirts.

... And more. I put my heart and soul into this!

Some things I'd like to try out in the future:

Experimenting with adapting the original TS4 bones to TS3 right there in blender.

Look at more efficient methods for editing morphs and FTOM and age conversions more in-depth (I didn't include the FtoM because it is just lots and lots and lots of proportional editing)

Converting a high-poly Alpha mesh to be more optimized and maxis-match, while keeping good topology and castability. (Likely lots of dissolving edges like here, rather than purely the decimate modifier, which often messes up the topology)

При этом вам вовсе не нужно будет играть за сима с карьерой воспитателя. Ладно, наверняка многие уже знают этот способ, но для тех, кто все же не знает, я расскажу как это сделать) Приготовьтесь, придется много читать)

Итак нам необходимы моды nraas master controller и nrass go here. Это все, что необходимо для работы садика. Ну и конечно дополнение карьера.

Первое что мы делаем, это создаем на жилом лоте детский сад. Все строите по своему вкусу. Я бы еще посоветовала создать отдельно жилую часть, для воспитателя. Это будет детский сад на дому.

Далее нужно на этот участок поселить сима, имеющего хорошие черты характера. Например любящего детей, примерного семьянина, доброго и т.д. Впрочем тут все конечно на ваш вкус.

Устраиваем его на работу в карьеру воспитателя и поднимаем уровень до 5. Это можно сделать через тот же master controller.

Теперь через компьютер заходим в настройки mc go here и находим там строчку уход за детьми. Далее выставляем так: Выбор вида няни для неактивных детей-да Детский сад на активном лоте-да Малыши могут оставаться дома одни-нет Сим-няня вместо няни нпс-да Все, теперь можно выходить с участка детского сада и переходить в свою активную семью.

На следующий день, когда ваши взрослые симы пойдут на работу, как обычно появится сообщение: малыши не могут оставаться дома одни, нанять няню? Нажимаете да и вашего тоддлера телепортирует на лот, где размещен детский сад и сим воспитатель. Он будет находится там, пока кто-то из ваших домочадцев старше возраста ребенка не вернется домой. Так же ваши симы родители или подростки сами могут забрать малыша из детского сада. Горожане, у которых есть тоддлеры и которые ходят на работу, тоже будут отправлять своих малышей в сад и забирать их вечером. Всего в саду может быть одновременно 4 малыша. Если у вас в городе нет столько тоддлеров, то игра сгенерирует нпс с детьми, которых они будут приносить в детский сад для заполнения. В целом это все, что касается организации детского сада.

Теперь несколько практических советов и наблюдений, которые я сделала за то время, что пользуюсь этим методом.

Первое, не заходите повторно в семью с няней и детским садом, после того, как все настроите. Если хотите исправить что-либо на участке сделайте это лучше с кодом разработчика от имени активной семьи. Я не буду утверждать, что это не влияние ка��ого либо мода из множества у меня установленных, но я заметила такой момент. Если еще раз зайти в эту семью, то карьера воспитателя перестает работать. Он по прежнему находится на своей должности, но дети в сад уже не приходят. Приходится увольнять сима, заново устраивать и поднимать уровень карьеры. Возможно это глюк самой карьеры, а может модов. Может быть у вас не будет так, но это чисто из моего опыта.

Далее, если вы будете делать две зоны и две двери, одна в садик, другая в дом, то назначьте главным входом дверь именно в сад. Иначе родители и нпс будут ломиться в жилую часть. И вообще все двери кроме двери в садик лучше позакрывать от посторонних, чтобы еще и малыши туда не ходили. Я вообще после того, как все дети пришли в садик закрываю входную дверь в сам садик, чтобы и воспитатель не ходила туда сюда. Но это на ваше усмотрение. Для большей реалистичности, можно платить за день проведенный вашим малышом в садике. Сделать это можно любым удобным способом. Например поставить на участке билетный автомат из набора store с кинотеатром и когда ваш сим приходит забирать малыша, купить несколько билетов, сумму определите сами. Еще мои симы всегда забирают детей сами, я считаю это очень мило) Совет: не ставьте в садике детские кроватки. Малыши в течении дня не хотят спать, но воспитатель может просто посадить вашего малыша в кроватку и он будет сидеть там пол дня. Так же стульчики для кормления тоже не нужны, воспитатель кормит детей на полу. В субботу и воскресенье детский сад не работает.

Для более интересного процесса я использую все детские моды от @thesweetsimmer111, @olomaya и еще от многих других чудесных создателей модов.

Then set it like this: Select the type of nanny for inactive children - true Kindergarten on an active lot - true Toddlers can stay home alone - false Sim-nanny instead of an NPC nanny - true That's it, now you can leave the kindergarten lot and go to your active family.

The next day, when your adult Sims go to work, as usual, a message will appear: toddlers cannot stay home alone, hire a nanny? Click yes and your toddler will be teleported to the lot where the kindergarten and Sim teacher are located. He will stay there until someone from your household older than the child's age returns home. Also, your Sims parents or teenagers can pick up the baby from the kindergarten themselves. Citizens who have toddlers and who go to work will also send their kids to kindergarten and pick them up in the evening. There can be a total of 4 kids in the kindergarten at a time. If you don't have that many toddlers in your city, the game will generate NPCs with children, which they will bring to kindergarten to fill. Now some practical advice and observations that I have made during the time that I have been using this method.

First, do not re-enter the family with a nanny and kindergarten after you have set everything up. If you want to fix something on the site, do it better with the developer code on behalf of the active family. I will not claim that this is not the influence of any of the many mods I have installed, but I have noticed this. If you re-enter this family, the educator career stops working. He is still in his position, but the children no longer come to kindergarten. You have to fire the Sim, hire them again and raise their career level. Perhaps this is a glitch in the career itself, or maybe in the mods. Maybe it won't be like that for you, but this is purely from my experience.

Next, if you make two zones and two doors, one to the kindergarten, the other to the house, then designate the door to the kindergarten as the main entrance. Otherwise, parents and NPCs will break into the residential area. And in general, it is better to close all the doors except the door to the kindergarten from strangers, so that the kids don't go there either.

I generally close the entrance door to the kindergarten itself after all the children have come to the kindergarten, so that the teacher doesn't go there either. But this is at your discretion.

For greater realism, you can pay for the day your child spends in the kindergarten. You can do this in any convenient way. For example, put a ticket machine from the store set with a movie theater on the site and when your Sim comes to pick up the child, buy several tickets, determine the cost yourself. Also, my Sims always pick up the kids themselves, I think it's very cute) Advice: do not put cribs in the kindergarten. The kids do not want to sleep during the day, but the teacher can just put your baby in the crib and he will sit there for half a day. Also, high chairs are not needed, the teacher feeds the children on the floor. Никогда наверное меня не отпустит этот город:) И выбор мой пал на семью Джой от ЕА, за которую я никогда не играла до этого. Только коммуницировала с кем то из семьи другими симами. Но мне всегда было жаль Элейн. Она была такая серая мышка, проживающая со пожилым отцом и мечтающая о собственной семье. Не знаю, как так получилось, но я решила чуть чуть поиграть за эту семью и очень сильно увлеклась. Не буду говорить о династии, это слишком громкое понятие для меня. Но на данный момент у Элейн своя довольно большая семья. Муж, трое детей и собака) Причем по большей части это не я играла за них, а они жили своей жизнью! Принимали решения, совершали какие то хорошие и не очень поступки, и мне за всем этим оказалось безумно интересно наблюдать) Я полюбила этих маленьких человечков всей душой и пока продолжаю потихоньку за них играть)) Возможно выложу фото, которых не так много, чтобы показать, что в семье происходило за весь период моей игры за них) ______________________________________________________________

Hello! yeah, np... I don't really use reshade and the only lighting mod I have is Uranesia Lighting Mod and my game settings have the lighting and shadows option activated for better ambiance. For that kind of post I usually edit the images in Paint tool sai
