Fed up of huge telephone costs? Is the question l usually ask individuals and corporates. It doesn't matter on the size of the organization or type of organization, but what matters is the bill per month and in total per annum.

To weigh your options and take a decision wisely, it is crucial to know the difference between VoIP and analogy  phone systems. On this post l will not dwell more on that, but l will just mention the main differences and on how the systems work. 

The main difference between the two systems, its the way the signals are delivered. The analogy phone service carries the signals over a copper wire and the VoIP service delivers the signals over an IP data network.

With VoIP internet access is one of the most important components, as all the communication is done over the internet. Therefore the service you choose will determine the speed, reliability and the cost of your phone system. Definitely the costs will not exceed those of using the traditional phone system.

The VoIP system can operate wherever an internet connection is available, this makes it a cheaper medium for both long and short distance communication. Along with additional features like call forwarding, call waiting, diverting and so on, usually included free with service.

As l mention before the difference between the two services, with analog systems there is physical wiring, and high call rates make long distance calls quiet expensive and the system itself is not portable.

On the other hand VoIP is highly portable as you can use your cellphones to communicate with the help of VoIP supported communication applications.

With only a few differences, l hope l have enlightened all those who are still debating whether VoIP Technology is right for them. Lets invest in reducing those monthly costs.....

Embracing video conferencing for business

What’s the point of a meeting or a telephone call? Is it to communicate or facilitate learning and understanding? Could it be to strengthen an existing relationship or simply to get things done? If your company is still using audioconferencing as a primary communication tool—or if you as an executive, personally, haven’t fully considered the benefits of the shift to video conferencing

Here are five key reasons why video conferencing is superior to audioconferencing—and can often be even more effective than face-to-face meetings.

Sometimes “you have no alternative,” and you have to default to just audioconferencing, says Srini Koushik, CTO for Magellan Health. But in terms of achieving higher levels of collaboration, “video conferencing is a real game changer—and should be the default setting.”

Once video engages during a call, “the entire feel and etiquette of the meeting changes,” says Koushik. Participants can see and be seen. Any sense of distance is removed. There’s no longer any semblance of “out of sight, out of mind,” says Koushik. Participants are less apt to “zone out” or multitask, as they might on an audioconference, and instead maintain “virtual eye contact.” The result, says Koushik, are superior levels “of closeness and engagement.”

Huawei cut off from American technology

America is no fan of Huawei. Its officials have spent months warning that the Chinese giant’s smartphones and networking gear could be Trojan horses for Chinese spies (something Huawei has repeatedly denied). They have threatened to withhold intelligence from any ally that allows the firm in. On May 15th they raised the stakes. President Donald Trump barred American firms from using telecoms equipment made by firms posing a “risk to national security”. His order named no names. But its target was plain.

For all the drama, the import ban hardly matters. Huawei has long been barred from America, in practice if not on paper. More significant was the announcement by the Commerce Department, on the same day, that it was adding Huawei to a list of firms with which American companies cannot do business without official permission. That amounts to a prohibition on exports of American technology to Huawei.
