i had a lot of fun making this and did way more with the editing than usual. hope you guys enjoy!

notes on the line distribution:

"how are you these days? is there anything you want to do?" - mafuyu not knowing anything about herself

"i've got more unread notifications" - in the ribbon story ena's sprial into depression is punctuated by constant notification sounds

"it's a lie, i can see through you" - what mizuki imagines others thinking about her gender presentation

"yes, yes, it's all my fault" - mafuyu feeling responsible for her mother’s emotions, kanade feeling responsible for her father's illness

when i got to the second verse/chorus i wanted to give every line to mizuki. but alas

"ah, should i turn up any longer?" - ena quitting her art class

"this is the result of running, running, and running" - literally the black screen monologue at the end of mizu5

"there's nothing i can do to save myself" - a twist on kanade always trying to save others

"don't look at me with eyes like that" - nani sono me yappa sono me

"my brain is emptiness" - empty sekai creator mafuyu asahina

"i'm disgusting, right?" - mizuki's internalized transphobia, ena's shame about needing attention

yes i gave an entire chorus to mizuena, if heat abnormal can do it so can i

"goodbye to everything in this world" - very similar to "konna sekai to bye bye bye bye" from infinitely gray

"the sky is upside down. it's beautiful, isn't it?" - lovely poignant lyric that i can just hear in ena's voice

"this song that never stops ringing" - metaphor for kanade's endless self destructive mission

ouhhhhgb i got feelings alright

first lemme just say the cards were GORGEOUS and they all look like goddesses

and ofc im biased but mizuki and enas omg omg, ena especially DAMN

as for the untrained cards

uehueueuhh oughhh,,, kanade is happy...... knmf school yuri real.... mizuki working her cute lil boutique... and ena oh sweetie. this wl is especially rough for her

so I haven't fully read the story yet but ive gotten bits and pieces. might be a little spoilery from here so read at your own discretion.

mizuki escapes the bulk of her harassment by quitting school and works as a fashion designer or something of the sort, and she loves what she does, but she's still incredibly lonely and believes trying to get close to anyone is too much of a hassle. essentially she's still running away and doesn't have any close friends, and even seems to keep rui at a bit of a distance, telling him that she's good and happy n whatever. so! her untrained is super cute cus at least shes happy in it cus she's doing what she likes (and also cute new outfit yayyy) but oughhh no niigo... no ena... and she even runs into ena in her chapter but they're strangers </3 my poor heart

ena just seems to be in the pit of despair and rotting away in her room. not drawing, not taking selfies, hardly eating, never leaving. just letting time pass. fortunately airi takes her out and talks to her, and it seems like K at least recognized her art and showed appreciation for it. but oof man she's got no light in her eyes and shes just deadddd,, and i think in part 2 of her chapter her art gets recognized more, but she's lonely and feels like somethings missing. and she's not happy despite her art getting recognition. she doesn't seem to feel like she's truly seen through her art, like the way niigo saw it.

I don't actually rly know what happens in mafuyus chapter, haven't heard much abt it :/ BUT

kanade...... oughhhhhghfg SO. she's happy. she's healthy. she's thriving. her dad is with her, and she attends school. she composes happier songs. the monotone voice we know is not present, she speaks how she used to when she was younger, with life and energy and emotion in her voice. she's doing great. which is a good thing until you remember this is a dream essentially, and the real kanade will wake up. what I'm wondering is if this will affect kanade afterwards. seeing herself in a different life where she's so much happier... that's gotta hurt. in the intro chapter, she has a dream about her childhood, and she's sad waking up from it, remembering times when she was happier, and how that is not her present reality. so seeing herself in a different life in present times has gotta be rough for her. i think it'd be a good opportunity to let this build onto the escalation of kanade's arc, stirring the pot a lil and growing the tension. cus oh poor thing. that's torture. they're torturing her.

hi!!! its been a minute since ive posted (⁠ー⁠_⁠ー⁠゛⁠)

in a lil bit of a creative block again, just havent had much inspiration or motivation to draw recently </3 i wanted to get something out for pride month but i havent been able to come up w a good idea to execute :/ i still wanna try to make some sort of pride post even if its late tho :,) wish me luck ★

and, though im saying this halfway through the month, happy pride month!! you are all wonderful and loved, and i hope you all can find pride and happiness in your identities this month and beyond <3 shit can get hard sometimes, but you'll always have someone out there who believes in you!!

role reversal of ena teasing mizuki saved me

and not to take this super seriously but i just wanted to say!!!! mizuki is able to be comfortable and herself after ena5, but ena has a big weight off her shoulders too!! all that time she spent waiting for mizuki, she was always worried for her and looking out for her, and never felt like she could get close enough to her. but after ena5, she's able to be close with her and not be stuck waiting, wondering and worrying for mizuki. so!!! its like she's even more comfortable with mizuki now too and can have more fun with her, teasing her back like this :3 YES ITS JUST A MOMENT FROM A MINECRAFT VIDEO but their dynamic has absolutely changed and i am 10000% here for it :))))) okay anyways back into my cave i go

This might be a dumb question but how the hell do you draw Ena's hair so good 🫡

not a dumb question at all! i just enjoy drawing her hair lol

i kinda just feel it out for the most part :P she kinda has longer front pieces tho so thats always something i incorporate. i also love adding some flyaways as well as the sprout i always give her ofc :3 i just add a lil more volume than her sprite has, i like making it more flowy than pin straight lol

hi again ^^ wanted to add a couple things abt this since i saw some stuff brought up in the reblogs

first, for her middle school outfit, i basically just drew her old uniform but without the blazer and with short sleeves, showing this is towards the end of that school year, being in summer uniform. i think she would've started to grow her hair out during that school year, but probably didn't bother to go through a whole uniform change while she's in the last year of attending a school that she hates. i imagine her just waiting till she gets to high school to be able to start off fresh.

another thing i wanted to bring up was the tie swap theory, which i think is a cute idea! however i didn't draw it cus i think realistically that may have not occurred. reason being, mizuki seemed to have the kamiyama girls uniform, so I don't see why she wouldn't get a bow with it.

some people say maybe she made the skirt herself or something. from my understanding though, most japanese high schools would not typically let a student wear the opposite gender's uniform, and i imagine that mizuki and her parents likely had a meeting with someone at the school to explain her situation in order for her to be able to wear the right uniform. she'd likely get in trouble if she hadn't gotten permission for wearing that uniform. however, from what i could find, there are some schools that have started to relax those rules a bit, allowing more open expression for lgbtq+ students, so it's possible kamiyama could be that way. But either way, she would've had permission from the school to wear that uniform, meaning she would have been able to obtain the girls uniform, as well as the bow that comes with it. so ANYWAYS thats why i didn't draw the tie swap, sorry tie swap believers </3
