i'd like to she some semblance of lenore's hip problems while at nevermore. it would be cool to have a disabled MC so casually and also lenore with a cane kinda......
Lmao but she'd be such a menace with a cane not gonna lie. Monty's acting shitty and *BONK* she'd beat the shit outta him XD
Hey, Anon! I think I touched on this a little while back; disabilities in Nevermore, that is.
I won't repeat myself on everything I said, but disabilities in the afterlife is an interesting thing to think about!
I, personally, headcanon that Lenore gets phantom pains while at Nevermore. She'll stumble every now and then, get slight pains on her side, have that semblance of her former life. I think that'd be cool, especially the psychological aspect of it.
While the disability may be gone in the afterlife, the memory of it hasn't died. The brain remembers.
It's funny. I also brought up Lenore using her cane as a weapon against Monty. Seems to be a common desire!

Rereading Nevermore and this time reading through the comments under the chapters, and christ alive am I frustrated by all the absolutely awful bad-faith takes on Annabel Lee's character. If she were a man, everyone would be fawning over her/him and calling him a wifeguy.
A guy being an asshole and cold and sacrificing everything including his own life for the sake of protecting and saving a woman he loves above all else? Who only has a soft spot for this one person, for whom he never fails to melt? People would be wetting their knickers, it's one of the most popular fictional archetypes, and something countless women are hoping for in a man.
But if it's a woman? A lesbian? Crucify, crucify I say!

haven't seen this said before, so let's hope i don't get skewered by ada fans.
the last ask about montresor got me thinkin a lot about ada, since their spectres do similar things. so I reread chapter 69 and i kinda fell down a rabbit hole;
so at this point in the series, we know ada is infatuated with prospero. however, it's gotten to the point where she's no longer shooting her shot, instead she's just forcing herself onto him. no matter how much he tells her he isn't interested, she keeps pushing. when prospero finally snaps and yells at her for this, it should be viewed as totally valid, even if his words are harsh. if they were genderswapped, I dont think as many people would be on ada's side.
and then immediately after that fight, ada manifests and gets prospero pinned to the ground all the while he is horrified and asking her to stop. she responds by asking if he loves her yet, again ignoring his boundaries for her own sake. and then she violates his mind by forcing him to live through his worst fears, which is even more disturbing in this context because the imagery seen is a bunch of hands grabbing at him. yikes. to make matters worse she says he looks cute like that? that's wrong on so many levels.
and all that happened because he got tired of her disrespecting his boundaries and finally spoke up about it? again I ask that you imagine if they were genderbent.
are we seeing the parallels here between this and montresor in ep49-51? both characters disrespect someone of the opposite sex, pin them down and take control from them, and then mess with their head via their spectres, leaving their victims on the ground in shock and/or scared. it's just weird that only one of them, montresor, is labeled an abuser.
tldr; i think male characters get called out more often for their bad actions (in this case implied/potentional sa), but when it's a girl character then nobody really notices or cares. montresor and ada are a good example of that.
CW: SA
I'm honestly really loving the conversations being brought to the table here.
Ada is a woman who forced herself upon Prospero, in multiple ways. The hands now have new meaning; thank you for pointing that out, Anon.
She is consistently trying to touch him throughout the earlier chapters. He pushes her away. When he finally does snap, she doesn't even consider his first words as being serious.
"You're so funny!" is what she says. "You don't mean it."
She's not taking "no," and that shouldn't be forgotten or laughed off at.
It's the way the hands are grabbing him (while Ada is the Banshee) that stand out to me more, looking now. Her hands cradle his face, while dead hands seem to touch his shoulders almost gently. Then, there's the scene where hands are halfway to removing clothing. It's grotesque and uncomfortable.
It does have strong parallels to Montresor and Lenore. But it's more obvious with Ada, in my opinion.
The gender-swap is an important conversation, too. We looked over it with Ada, and that shouldn't happen. She shouldn't be brushed off as an obsessive romatic joke — she did wrong. She ignored a man's boundaries and when he denied consent, she forced herself to be seen.

are you also nevermorenews???
Nope! In fact, I didn't know there was a NevermoreNews, so I'm going to go ahead and see what they're up to and give them a follow.
EDIT 1: I think I found the wrong nevermorenews, if someone wants to point me in the right direction.
EDIT 2: Found it. New favorite account dropped.
Man, I wish I was NevermoreWebtoonNews. This person is way funnier than I am.

i might get jumped for this but i have always seen chapters 49-51, specifically the struggle between lenore and montresor, as analogous for sexual assault. and seeing how many people ignore the uncomfortable implications of that scene makes me feel like im kind of going crazy. am i alone in this?
montresor describes lenore as a “wild mustang” he’s “fixin’ to tame for the thrill,” violates her by invading her memories, repeatedly holds her down, and is clearly shown to enjoy degrading, abusing and objectifying women. & it just unsettles me a bit that these elements of his character are so infrequently discussed. i know it’s an uncomfortable topic, and that montresor himself is seemingly also a victim of sexual violence, but im really tired of seeing people babygirlify the sadistic misogynistic predator without stopping to think over some of his canon behaviors. im genuinely not trying to police anyone’s personal choices or interpretations but i do find it odd as it implies that somehow my reading of that situation was either an uncommon one or that people just don’t care. i’d like to know which it is bc those chapters are so nightmarishly evocative that they make me feel a lil bit ill tbh
tldr i think montresor is a weird freak and i wanna know if im alone in my interpretation of his fight with lenore
CW: SA
To be honest, I never quite picked up on this, but you've opened my eyes. I went back to read on what you've pointed out —
And yeah. Wow. I'm deeply uncomfortable. Quotes that stuck with me were :
"Go on, take my hand. . . Aw, shucks, I wasn't asking nicely,"
"There's nothing to win from this sort of intrusion! Have you no shame at all?"
"We had a good old time, didn't we?"
"If you ever get lonely, let me know. I could probably find a use for you."
I think it's also very important to note how Lenore's queerness ties into this. She's a "wild mustang" to "tame," just another version of "I can fix you."
As a lesbian, that really stuck with me.
I think that, while we're acting as readers, and we're witnessing the fight between Lenore and Montresor, we tend to see the scene as face-value. I don't think many people are ignoring it — I also took it as face valve. I was deeply uncomfortable reading it for the first time, I remember, and couldn't explain why. Now that I reread it, the implications are clear as day.
I don't think you'll get jumped. I think you're right.
The more I go back and reread the episodes, the more I hate Montresor. Like, genuienly hate him.

you have the same pfp so I keep thinking you’re nevermoreconfessions 😭
Our reporters have investigated and come to the conclusion that... we didn't even realize this at all.
Oops.
Perhaps we'll change it. More to come as story unfolds.

Are you answering confessions about not liking the new artstyle? I’ve seen a lot of people talking about it but nothing on here so wondering if you aren’t letting people submit about it?
I got one submission about it! My response is in my drafts. I'll explain why it's taking a little while.
I'm choosing short-responses at the moment since I'm busy. Working eight hours a day, then getting home to sew the rest of the time till bed. Once the sewing is done, I'm answering the longer questions.
So, I'll give a short answer here just to give the general vibe of my response:
I honestly don't see the difference in anybody but Eulalie.
I like Eulalie's new look, I think it's nice. I believe they were going for more Asian-centric features, and I see the effort.
But, uh, other than that, Anon? I think I'm blind and/or broken. I don't really notice any other major changes. Which is also delaying my response to the other Anon.
I think it's more polished compared to the last season, but thats ... it? I don't think I'm seeing what other people are seeing.
Am I dumb? Do I need a side-by-side? I don't know.

I always get so happy when my Anons come out. Like, hell yeah. Bask in it, Non-Anon.
This is SUCH a random little headcanon/theory I have but I personally headcanon that Annabel’s mother ended up going “insane” and was institutionalized, which is why we never see her, why she’s never even referenced, AND one of the reasons why Annabel feels so much pressure to be seen as a sane individual, because she KNOWS “madness” runs in the family and she doesn’t want to end up like her mother. There isn’t really anything to support this but idk, I just thought of it one day and it stuck with me lol
Anon, I've been a little busy con-crunching, so this will be a short answer. Just warning you.
I think you might've reintroduced me to my new favorite "Annabel's Mother" headcanon. Sometimes, I wonder if she's dead, gone from childbirth, but I like this idea much more.
It makes sense. Annabel's fear, the absence of the mother, the mirror of Lenore's father saying, "I don't have a daughter." Like "mad" women are/should be erased.
I love it.

lenore would have liked rock music, too bad she died before it came around
Let's hold hands, Anon. Lets close our eyes and imagine a Modern AU, okay?
Lenore would be a Ghost fan. Don't ask me how I know, I just feel it in my soul. She's been around since Terzo, specifically, because Cirice spoke to her spiritually.
Am I projecting? I think I'm projecting. I love Ghost.
Metallica, Kiss, and Mötley Crüe next. I imagine Lenore to be a retro/classic rock type of person.
But that's just me.
