Once Sean Mccreaver took over he…. fucked up Babs AND Charlie and i'm not here for it.
WHERE DO THEY CURRENTLY RESIDE/OR MOSTLY RESIDE: Castlepoint
ARE THEY ASSOCIATED WITH ANY TEAMS/GROUPS ETC OR HAVE THEY BEEN IN THE PAST: Formerly Birds of Prey, Currently Outlaws
CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY: TW PARENTAL DEATH AND EXTREMELY VAGUE MENTIONS OF ABUSE.
Charlie grew up in Metropolis to a single mother and was a huge fan of Batman - particularly Barbara Gordon's Batgirl.
She has a hard upbringing: growing up in poverty with a an overworked, overwhelmed, and overly cynical mother who tried her damnedest to put food on the table. It never seemed to be enough.
of course, the superpowers didn't help. Charlie can teleport anywhere - and that means anywhere, without alerting even the most sophisticated technological systems on Earth (including Batman). To make things worse, she has an enhanced healing ability and enhanced strength…. not exactly prime child raising abiltiiy, especially when Charlie puts Hyperactive in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
As she got a little older, Charlie learned to not really use her powers because they made her mom nervous.
When Charlie was about 14, her mom met a guy. He was a great guy…. until he wasn't. After he was long gone (in an incident that might have lead to Charlie breaking his nose), her mother gave birth to her baby brother, Aidan.
This is a superhero character, after all, so here is the tragic backstory.
Almost a year after Aidan was born, Charlie's landlord paid a local gang to torch their apartment for insurance money. The building wasn't up code, and 17 people died, including Charlie's mother and brother. Charlie only escaped because her mother woke her up and made her teleport out.
Charlie started operating as "Batgirl" in a bad, homemade batgirl costume (t shirt, jeans, homemade cape, etc) and quickly got chewed out by the Birds of Prey.
Which, hilariously enough, she had been STALKING so she knew their identity. Oracle's motion censors couldn't pick up her bouncing in, and… well. :) She had a small tift with Barbara, who gave her a batgirl plushie…. and the bullet lodged in Barbara's spine while also showing her Stephanie Brown's autopsy photos to convince her to stop being Batgirl. Which she did! But then she started operating as Misfit.
She lived on the streets, was in and out of shelters (and Oracle's gigantic HQ), but after worming her way into a little too many Bird of Prey missions and driving everyone insane for a (now 15 year old) Barbara finally found out her identity and living situation (which Charlie had been lying about consistently. favorites were she was super rich and had a movie star pair of parents)
Charlie was Barbara's ward for two years. They wanted to kill each other, but ended up developing a complicated sisterly bond, which also included the rest of the Birds of Prey. Barbara and Charlie constantly clashed over being a superhero, and Barbara put Charlie through hellish training trying to get her to quit… and, well, Charlie's listening skills needed work. Oh, and Barbara forced her to go to school. Ew.
And then the unthinkable happened. In October 2019 (when she was 17), the Joker broke into the clock tower. Him and Barbara battled, with Barbara largely winning until she's thrown down some stairs.
Charlie returns home, and… well. Charlie can bring anything with her that doesn't have a soul. Any living thing? Turns into meat confetti. And Charlie panicked. The Joker dies as a result of Charlie teleporting with him.
This lead to friction between Barbara and Charlie, and even worse, a campaign to put Charlie into a place like Arkham by Batman. The explanation was she's dangerous, both in abilities and general reasoning skills.
Charlie flees Gotham, and… well. Hi Jason. :)
Jason Todd practically picks her up by the scruff of her neck, finding her in an abandoned warehouse, and joins the Outlaws. She does, unfortunately, get her GED, and Jason continues Charlie's training in secret.
At some point, Charlie reconnects with Helena Bertinelli (Huntress) and receives training from her too.
Barbara and Charlie are estranged. On Charlie's side, she still feels guilt and shame over what happened. Fine get her wrong, she's GLAD the Joker is dead, but she feels like it wasn't her call to make. She's also ashamed she reacted without thinking because she was scared.
Charlie also carries trauma from …. well, killing someone/feeling them die
She lives with Jason in Castle Point. At this point she does have her own place……. right across the hall from Jason.
She works a day job waitress, and her night job is a navy blue wearing hero named Exile. She is considering college.
While her abilities appear to be metahuman based, they are from a homomagi origin, and she has the ability to learn spells. This happened after an unfortunate encounter with Granny and a Suoerhero fighting ring where she got kidnapped.
Charlie is dyslexic.
She calls her teleporting "bouncing." It could be seen as a more streamlined version of Dr. Strange's Portaling, without the portal.
Her powers don't work as well when she's exhausted/not taking care of herself (food, water, sleep, mentally, etc ). She had some serious issues after Joker's death that she had to work through.

PLEASE MENTION ANY IMPORTANT INSPIRATIONS (this can be comics/any specific issues etc, movies, shows, novels etc & please include any clear important events and/or arcs in your characters history including dates if you have any in mind):
given that he is my original character, there isn't really any media that i take inspiration from. however, i certainly have playlists and other works that contribute to character aesthetics etc. but in terms of important character events: killing his father when he was 25 is certainly up there with formative moments in dorian's life. but more on that down below in his biography…
WHERE DO THEY CURRENTLY RESIDE/OR MOSTLY RESIDE:
his own apartment above the shop in new york, but he'll also always have a room back in the original academy that took him in all those years ago.
ARE THEY ASSOCIATED WITH ANY TEAMS/GROUPS ETC OR HAVE THEY BEEN IN THE PAST (please mention these):
more loosely tied to SHIELD now as opposed to how entangled he was in recent years. works alongside the avengers and other such groups from time to time too. mostly in a hire out weapons master kind of vibe.
CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY:
dorian always knew he was different from a young age. some of his first memories were of using his imagination, his mind to enable things to come to life. or, that's what he thought it was. now he knows it was telekinetic powers that made his toys move and seem to 'come alive'. it was something he was never afraid of, probably because his mother always taught him he should be proud of the magic and powers inside of him. he got it from her, after all, so she'd never tell him to be afraid of it. but she did, however, tell him he had to be careful with it. he was lucky, when he first presented his abilities, his mother was around. his father never saw it. apparently, having a child with these powers was too much and his father wouldn't like it.
not that dorian really knew much about his father anyway. he only saw him some weekends, and they never spent time together outside of their little home in the south of england.
he still remembers the night his father found out. bursting in to see dorian lifting a flame from a candle, letting it float and move through the air. he called him an abomination and locked him in the cupboard. that's when he heard all the yelling. it felt like it went on for hours… crashing… swearing… until suddenly it all went silent.
it's all a bit of a blur after that, dorian squeezing his eyes shut, terrified, just wishing for everything to stop for a moment, for him to be able to get away, to escape.
the next thing he remembered was opening his eyes to the rising sun, feeling the sand beneath him.
in the years that followed after, dorian eventually came to unravel the lost memories of the night that his trauma had pushed away with the help of the woman who found him on that beach, the one who promised to protect him and bring him somewhere safe. somewhere he could be around people like him. somewhere where he'd never be hurt again.
the academy was a wonder, a secret world tucked away, but not in shame, never in shame. it was a world of learning and teaching. it became home to dorian and it provided him with all the space he could want to grow his abilities. he's 18 when he crafts his first weapon imbued with magic.
jump forward and it's nearly the 70s and he's 25 and he's been working with the academy, he's been working with multiple organisations across the world. his work is popular, and he's an exceptional talent to have in a tight spot. but it turns out, a certain shadow he thought he'd never see again was sweeping in.
learning that his biological father had not only been scientist, but a secret spy working for HYDRA rocks dorian's world entirely. but it lights a fire in him, it sets him on a damn near fucking war path in truth. one that only ends when he has his father begging for his life, bleeding out.
he keeps that weapon that did it for life, but he never uses it again.
somewhere after this, dorian comes to realise he isn't aging anymore. the academy do some tests and, eventually, it's confirmed. he's not immortal, not really, he could still be hurt (though his healing had never exactly been at human levels anyway), could still be killed, but old age was never going to touch him. it's a weird thing to come to terms with, but… well. didn't it just open up life for him?
and what a life it's been so far, in and out with all sorts of groups through time, involved in all kinds of madness and near world ending scenarios. but somehow, he always made it through. it's been a whirlwind, and he's nowhere near done yet. it's all way too interesting to quit now.

WHERE DO THEY CURRENTLY RESIDE/OR MOSTLY RESIDE:
primarily, diego has now been living at the academy mansion since Everything that went down post 2022 but he has been thinking about his own place like,, PROPERLY,,,
ARE THEY ASSOCIATED WITH ANY TEAMS/GROUPS ETC OR HAVE THEY BEEN IN THE PAST (please mention these):
the umbrella academy of course mostly, but over the years has been associated with different groups, a primary one being jld
CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY:
when diego looks back on his life, a lot of it feels more like a facts sheet. solid dates, statements on a piece of paper he can read from. a fucking assigned number, damnit for the longest time. there's a lot of disconnect with it. it's complicated and as much as, sure, he enjoyed parts of his childhood, it's shrouded by a lot of painful feelings too and he knows that's the way for all of his siblings.
the day grace actually gave him a name instead of a number assignment, diego felt a bit less like a machine and more like a human being. but of course, that came with a lot of emotions he didn't always know what to do with… and his father had a habit of only making it worse. never quite enough, always too reckless, hell, he remembers the amount of times he was told him and his powers were pointless by his fucking father. didn't exactly instil in diego a great sense of self worth.
but at least with his siblings, fighting alongside them, the fame and all of it… at least there, he belonged, right?
he wasn't the first sibling to leave it all behind, but he'd been thinking about it for a long time before he left after turning 18. for diego, the purpose had gotten lost. messy. fogged over. it had become isolating, in truth, and diego wanted to find himself. wanted to see who he could be outside of the family, outside of the expectations and the constant, fucking constant moving hurdles of achievement-- the unattainable approval of it all.
diego moves around a lot after that, even settling in gotham for a while. it kinda made sense, really. a messy city, the right kinda fucked up for him. it was something to really sink into and lose himself too after the whole… getting booted from the police academy shit. boy, had THAT been the wrong option to have tried to chase…
it's during that time in gotham that he comes into contact with the justice league dark and in truth, it's a lot of fun. again, yeah, it's fucking messy and the shit they're all woven into isn't the easiest shit, but it feels… good. and it helps him truly grow his powers too, more so than his stupid father had ever been able to help him with.
in the end though, he ends up back in new york, like maybe he was always meant to.
and then it's 2022 and he's getting the call that his father has died…
there's a lot of bitterness unresolved in diego when he returns to the family home. a lot of bullshit, really. he's angry, maybe he's always been angry. but mostly, he realises he's just been a lost, hurt kid the entire time and it's messy and insane but maybe what he really needs is his family.
and boy oh boy do they manage to fuck it all up… what happened with viktor is always going to haunt him, not being able to protect him sits with him. but… they figured it all out in the end, right? they corrected the shit, and now they have a shot at making a go of this, right? surely they have to get something right eventually. CHARACTER PRONOUNS/GENDER IDENTITY/SEXUALITY ETC: he/him, genderfluid (closeted abt it), publicly identifies as bisexual, personally identifies more with greyace & romantic but doesn't care to talk about it so saying bisexual is easier for him hes lazy ok

OC OR CANON: canon
PLEASE MENTION ANY IMPORTANT INSPIRATIONS (this can be comics/any specific issues etc, movies, shows, novels etc & please include any clear important events and/or arcs in your characters history including dates if you have any in mind): under the red hood will eternally serve as my main inspiration for jason, and as shown on the doc, the events of that HAVE already happened in 2017. i do take inspiration from earlier comics before his death too, as well as some cherry picked bits from different outlaw runs, elements of urban legends and a few other more recent takes (emphasis on cherry pick bc goddamnit will jason todd EVER be done right for an ENTIRE RUN PLS)
WHERE DO THEY CURRENTLY RESIDE/OR MOSTLY RESIDE: castle point, ny. he has his own apartment on the island as well as an invisible, floating base above the city for the outlaws business.
ARE THEY ASSOCIATED WITH ANY TEAMS/GROUPS ETC OR HAVE THEY BEEN IN THE PAST (please mention these):
runs the outlaws and has done for a good few years now. sometimes has been known to team up with others like the suicide squad (ugh), different members of the batfam and their groups etc, but mostly just focused on the outlaws.
CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY:
jason's start in life wasn't exactly all that wonderful. sure, it led him to where he is now, but he always wonders what it might have been like if he'd not had a deadbeat dad in prison and then a mother who overdosed and left him to fend for himself, just trying to survive as a kid. but then he also wonders, if it hadn't been for that start, would he have ever met batman? would bruce wayne have adopted him? would any of the things that happened in his life occurred? or would he have just ended up like his bio dad or mother?
whatever, he doesn't wanna think on all of that too much, but telling the story of stealing the batmobile hubcaps to try and scrape together some money is always one he likes to tell.
it isn't long before he's in with bruce, adopted, part of the family, sniffing out some sus shit with a boarding school bruce sends him to, becoming robin. it's fucking aces, honestly, and jason is having the time of his life. he's a little reckless, sure, he's angry and emotional and rough around the edges, and he clashes with bruce over technique, but he's got something real, doesn't he? he's living, not just surviving.
till his life gets flipped upside down. jason doesn't really remember much of how it felt to die. he remembers the fear beforehand, the pain of the joker bringing that crowbar down on him again and again. he remembers the betrayal, the confusion: to find out his real mother was alive, only for her to set him up… but everything past that is a blank. he's aware there was an explosion, but he doesn't remember it.
no, the next thing he remembers is crawling from his own fucking grave.
and then more blank.
and then the lazarus pits. and then some fucking intense training before… before he's finally ready. before he heads back to gotham with a few plans, but one at the forefront of his mind: make the joker pay and make bruce pay for letting the fucker live.
of course, nothing is ever that easy, how could it be? but boy, does jason try, and he kinda likes the chaos he causes. robin could never do the things red hood does, and he likes that maybe for the first time in his life, he truly has something that is his. something real and not just… trying to force himself to fit, to belong somewhere.
over a year after returning to gotham, over a year of chaos and in truth, feeling like he was hitting his head against a wall, fighting a losing battle where nothing was ever going to fucking change, jason decides to pack up and leave gotham behind.
castle point is everything jason had been needing. a place to call his own. no shadows of the past hanging around, no expectations, no stupid fucking rules that didn't make sense. no, here, he got to call the shots. he got to make the calls and, finally, feel like he could do some lasting good, that he might actually be able to change something. and it works! for four fucking years it works. jason cleans up castle point well, the outlaws do good in the city and the wider world that they offer their help and skills too as well. sure, there's a selection of their own rogues to deal with, but there's actual hope there, and jason actually feels a sense of pride for once.
2022 is hard. watching gotham fall apart… it's hard. and he does go back to help with the evacuations, but even now, he's still struggling with how to process it all. he said goodbye, he left that part of his life behind, but seeing it physically crumble was still difficult.
now, he's just hoping the rest of the world doesn't follow where gotham ended up.

CHARACTER NAME: tony stark
CHARACTER FACECLAIM: ben barnes
CHARACTER AGE/DOB: may 29th 1978 / 46 years old
CHARACTER PRONOUNS/GENDER IDENTITY/SEXUALITY ETC: he/him, genderfluid but is very very private about it, bisexual/romantic/polyam
CHARACTER FANDOM (if relevant): marvel universe
OC OR CANON: canon
PLEASE MENTION ANY IMPORTANT INSPIRATIONS (this can be comics/any specific issues etc, movies, shows, novels etc & please include any clear important events and/or arcs in your characters history including dates if you have any in mind):
primarily, and especially in terms of characterisation notes, i take my lead from the comics (which lbr,, so so many runs to choose from,,, too many to list). there's sometimes MILD inspiration from the movies too bc they sure were fun so tony can be a bit of a mishmash and certainly, i pick and choose which elements of his backstory/timelines i like most. for example, the death of tony's parents being at the hands of hydra is something i support, but it was not the winter soldier that did it.
i will be going with the origin that tony was actually adopted and out there has a brother, arno stark. however, tony is yet to discover this.
tony absolutely will always have the arc reactor and it cannot be removed without killing him.
he also did in fact find and discover the element that served as a replacement to the palladium core that was killing him. yes he still personally calls that element badassium bc tony stark is, first and foremost, an absolute cringe fail.
WHERE DO THEY CURRENTLY RESIDE/OR MOSTLY RESIDE:
stark tower is his main place of residence, though he does also have his own room in the avengers mansion. for a time, tony lived in malibu and ran stark industries from there, before eventually moving to settle back in new york full time in 2010.
ARE THEY ASSOCIATED WITH ANY TEAMS/GROUPS ETC OR HAVE THEY BEEN IN THE PAST (please mention these):
mostly, tony remains associated with the avengers as his primary focus. however, he also has ties with the justice league, illuminati & SHIELD.
CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY:
so far as tony is aware, his birth parents are maria & howard stark. unknown to him currently, the truth is quite different: he was born to two SHIELD agents, with his birth father being a double agent working for both SHIELD and HYDRA. all of which eventually led to his birth mother giving tony up for adoption. when howard stark found out about the boy being taken and given to an orphanage in bulgaria, he decided to intervene.
maria & howard had been having troubles of their own with fertility trying to conceive another child in order to pass off as their actual firstborn who they were currently hiding due to some incredibly complicated and shady events before his birth. adopting the boy seemed like the best fit and so, tony was brought into the family and passed off as the stark's first and only born.
maria loved tony unconditionally, giving him all the love and kindness possible while growing up. however, things weren't quite so easy with howard. tony's relationship was constantly strained with howard, his abusive and aggressive nature, his drinking and his constant belittling of tony. tony may have been a fast child genius, but nothing was ever quite good enough for howard and it showed.
when tony was sent away to boarding school at 7 years old to 'toughen' him up, it felt like the final straw for tony. his relationship with his father never got any better and tony instead, just grew even more distanced.
at fourteen years old, tony gained early entry into MIT and began his studies there, meeting his lifelong best friend, james rhodes in the process. he graduates at seventeen years old and goes on to study two masters degrees and then a phd.
for the most part, tony lives a life as far away from his father as he can. he's close to his mother and always would be, but he'd long since stopped trying to gain his father's approval. he knew nothing he did would ever get it, so his achievements were entirely for his own satisfaction, interest, and to make his mother proud.
perhaps it's these combinations of things that make it especially difficult for tony when his parents are killed when he is eighteen years old. why he holds onto the grief and pain, the guilt so tightly even as he grows up.
at twenty one, tony takes over control and running of stark industries and begins to do the work to build it into something more. within no time, he's expanded the company from a simple focus on weapons making, to a company at the cutting edge of technological advancements, bleeding into multiple sectors.
which is how he then builds his persona too. a whole lot of ego, genius and arrogance. but a certain kind of charm too. tony stark is everything he needs to be in public, so what does it matter if he's crumbling behind the scenes? and anyway, don't most people enjoy a few bad habits?
in 2013, tony's life takes a turn he never could have imagined when he is captured by a terrorist group and very nearly killed in the process, only surviving thanks to the help of a man right there captured too, and his own intelligence. building the arc reactor to keep the shrapnel from his chest is one thing… but building a suit of armour to escape the months of imprisonment is a whole other thing entirely and when he returns to the world, tony is changed in ways he doesn't imagine anyone could quite understand.
it's been one hell of a messy ride since then. rooting out the corruption within his company, learning of some intense betrayals, hiding his identity as the iron man, eventually going public, forming the avengers and so much more… the 10+ years since he was reborn have been insane. but all in all, tony rather likes his choices.
