This Week Only!

It’s so wonderful seeing the characters that we currently have interacting on the dash! I can’t wait to see how they go with the first event coming soon. In order to get to this event (which I am super excited for) we need to officially open the RP and to officially open the RP we need more characters.  So! For the next week, until the 5th of August (opening day) I will be wavering acceptance day and accepting applications whenever I get them. We have 43 skeleton bios that are yours for the taking so come on over and say hi!

Leonardo Anthony ‘TJ’ James Hoyt

Leonardo [brave as a lion - Italian/Spanish] TJ’s mother is Italian and she wanted to give her son a strong Italian name but couldn’t find one that she’d like her son to have. He was due to be born on the 25th of August and would have been a Virgo but when he was born early and under the starsign of a Leo, his mother couldn’t help but chose Leonardo.

Anthony [priceless - Latin] TJ’s first middle name is in honor of his mother’s brother who passed away before he was born.

James [supplanter - Hebrew] James has been passed down from father to first born son - as a middle name - for as far back as his father, Graham Hoyt, has been able to trace back in their family history but no one really knows how or why. It’s just become a quirky tradition.

Hoyt [English Medieval] It is topographical for a person who lived at the top of the hill or on a piece of raised ground, originating from the Olde English pre 7th century word hiehthu, from “heah”, meaning high. Topographical surnames were among the earliest created, since both natural and man made features in the landscape provided easily recognisable distinguishing names.

Anthony goes by TJ and that’s what most people know him as. His mother lovingly calls him Leo.

TJ was born four days early in the middle of the afternoon un an unusually hot afternoon for mid August. As the second child, his mother’s labor was much quicker and the newborn came squalling into the world with three pushes.

TJ identifies as an closeted homosexual, homoromantic cis-male.

For the longest time, TJ was in denial about his sexuality. It wasn’t that his parents were particularly religious or against same-sex relationships, in fact, they’ve always been open about them but he has it in his head that they would think differently if the homosexual in question was their own son. He’s finding it harder to deny, however, and often finds his mind wandering.

Despite trying to keep himself closeted, his family knows and accept him for who he is, they’re just waiting for him to come to terms with it in his own time and come out when he’s ready.

TJ was 14 when he started his current business.

He was a boy genius and has an IQ of 200.

TJ was sick a lot as a kid and had a very slight frame. Coupled with his high intelligence and love of learning, he was a target for bullies. However, he was a late bloomer and had his growth spurt in high school and now stands at 6′4″.

He enjoys getting up early and wakes up at 5:30 every day. His day begins with a healthy, breakfast - cooked by himself - before going for a run and doing some training in his home gym before he finishes with a long, hot shower.

He loves to cook and rarely gets take out preferring a home cooked meal.

His family have Sunday dinner every week together.

TJ speaks 12 spoken languages (Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Latin, French, German, Russian, Swedish, and, of course, English) and two signed languages (British and American) fluently along with playing 9 instruments (Piano, violin, cello, trumpet, saxophone, guitar, French horn, bass and drums).

INTROSPECTIVE INFORMATION:

When you would ask little Elenora Hoyt if she wanted a baby brother or a baby sister, she always said brother, and that was what she got on the afternoon of August 21st. Leonardo ‘TJ’ Hoyt was loved by his whole family and, as he grew, so did his love for them. There was never a time in his life that he ever felt unloved or unappreciated by his parents or his siblings (for two more would join the Hoyt family after him).

That’s not to say that his family aren’t perfect, there have been arguments, disagreements, and the odd fiery temper but they work their shit out and it stays in the family. The Hoyts don’t spread their drama around town. This rule has become handy as they are one of the original four families of the small town of Hidden Falls, ID and it was TJ’s ancestor, Henry James Hoyt, that found the town and brought his three friends and their families to help settle the wild land. There was just something about the picturesque landscape that drew him there and generations that proceeded him have felt the same.

TJ’s parents still live in the house in the heart of town that Henry built all those years ago.

Growing up, TJ was a very small and sickly child but he loved to learn. He was intelligent to the point of being a genius and his parents were prompted by a teacher to have his IQ tested at the age of 11. It was 200 and TJ was given the option to progress at an accelerated pace, but he chose to attend school like a regular student. While most would have found their school work boring and unchallenging, TJ loved learning and, even though he would finish his work much quicker than most students, would spend his extra time at school learning and studying other things. He discovered a particular fondness for language, music and computers.

When TJ was 14, he started up a tech support business, helping out those in the community who needed a little extra help with technology and it only grew from there.

The only time that TJ has ever left Hidden Falls was to attend university. This was the only time that he ever wanted to complete school quickly because the draw back to his home town was unbearable. In four years, he not only completed his Bachelor but his Masters in Computer Science at the University of Idaho, before he returned home for a break. After a year, he returned, determined to get his PhD which he completed in a year and a half. After returning home for good, TJ set up a tech support shop in town, which he ran by himself until he decided to expand his business and start his own tech company.

While many might see TJ as perfect, he’s worked hard to keep his image. He can be quite aloof and detached around strangers and even, when he’s struggling with something, his friends and family. He has a temper and can be quite quick to anger. If he has a problem with something, he tends to brood and shut himself away from the world. Because of this, he prefers to live alone and has never had a long term relationship. He’s dated women in the past but it’s never gone past a second date and has never been physical.

Though many put that off to his tendency to be a bit of a loner, that’s not true. TJ is actually a closeted gay man. His parents have always been loving and accepting of anyone and everyone but he can’t help but think that they might feel differently if it was a member of their family. Unbeknownst to him, his family have always suspected that he might be gay - which is one of the reasons that his parents have always tried to be so open about their acceptance of anyone - but want him to feel comfortable coming out to them rather than forcing him to come out when he’s not ready.

TJ lives on his own in a three bedroom plus study home. He still works at the shop and has since employed a dozen people to work at the shop so he also work out of home and travels for his now successful tech business. Hoyt Technology are the best of the best and everyone from those who want a phone to get pictures of their new grandchild to those who use technology for their business (and everyone in between) have something made by his company in their home whether that be a phone, a computer or a tablet.

Lately, TJ has found himself distracted and unfulfilled. There’s something missing from his life but he can’t be sure what it is. He feels like he’s just going through the motions, despite travelling often for work, doing what he loves, and spending time with his friends and family, there’s no excitement or purpose in his life.

His mother is at him to settle down and start a family - “however you choose is right for you” - and his friends are moving on with their lives. Perhaps he should start a family but he can’t bring himself to come out to his family and it’s impossible to date in secret in such a small town. Something has to change, but can he take those steps?

I have been out of the RP community for about a year. I have just been thinking about it more and more recently, and I just stumbled on this RP. I think it looks very promising, and I am really impressed by the work and effort that has been put into thus far! I miss being apart of the community, and I really miss writing and the creativity that all of my characters had.

The Loner

n a m e :

Nixon “Nix” [“son of Nicholas” - English] Nixon was  a name chosen by his grandmother, and his mother just happened to like. It was “different”, she’d say. It was chosen the day that he was born, and put right on the birth certificate.

Wesley [“western meadow” - English] His mother’s last name.

Elliott [“Jehovah is God”] The name that he really does not associate himself with. His father left when he was two weeks old, and neither him nor his mother could bother changing his name now. It is what it is.

Nix goes by his chosen nickname due to the fact that he would rather die than be associated with Richard Nixon, even though that is who he is named after— he hasn’t a clue why. He would rather be associated with someone cooler and more chill. Well, Stevie Nicks, for example. The spelling just ends up being cooler than "Nicks”, anyways. It’s all about the first impression and being different than everyone else. Why would you want to blend in, when you could stand out, right?

Nix thinks that his calmness and balance come from the fact this he was conceived nine months before becoming a Libra on that cool September morning at 4:30 AM. That and the fact that he thinks his mother was as high as the clouds when he was conceived, but that’s another story for another day.

Nix has never had a problem with his sexuality and gender. There has never really been any question other than the fact that he didn’t know why it had to be such an issue. Being pansexual was not something that he decided it’s just what he has always felt he was. There was finally a word for what he felt, and he knew that it had to be right.

Nix just really doesn’t go on dates at all. He thinks they’re weird, but maybe that’s just a personal problem.

Nix has big dreams of becoming a tattoo artist, but doesn’t know how well he would do considering that he is very squeamish.

Nix smokes weed almost everyday, but has never tasted alcohol. His mother has been sober for 6 years, and is still recovering from her addiction and her relationships with her family.

Nix stutters when he reads out loud to people. It was the worst when he would have to read in front of the class; he would turn bright red.

Nix broke his leg in a snowboarding accident a couple years ago. He decided that once he could walk again, he’d take up skateboarding. Turns out, skateboarding wasn’t his thing, either. He ended up in the ER with 7 stitches on his forehead and a broken pinky. He decided from those accidents, he has two left feet.

The idea of eating eggs makes Nix nauseous, to the point where he thinks he’s going to be sick. He considered going vegan, but then he realized what that actually meant, and decided against it.

INTROSPECTIVE INFORMATION:

Nixon Elliott was born in Seattle, Washington to his mother, Samantha Wesley, when she was just 19. They did not have any available rooms open at the time for his mother to deliver in, so her bed was placed in a janitors closet on the 4th floor of the hospital, and ever since, his mother knew that Nixon was going to be a different. Seattle was where his mother had moved to when she had met Nixon’s father, Jason. They moved when they were 17, and never looked back— until things started to go sour for their relationship. Nixon’s grandparents had settled in Hidden Falls where his grandfather was an electrician by trade. The Wesley’s watched their daughter make a few mistakes that none of them were proud of. Two weeks after Nixon was born, his father packed all of his belongings from the studio apartment that the three of them shared, and was completely gone. Knowing quite well that they would not be able to afford living in the city any longer, Samantha packed her bags and took a bus to Boise where her parents would pick her up— unknowingly picking up their new grandson, as well.

Growing up was boring, to be quite honest. Nix really never felt that he had much potential in the small city, but he knew that he would never be able to leave his mother like his father did. It was always a small guilt that he would end up leaving and going onto a future that his mom had dreamed of having, but never getting to have because she had Nix so young. There was also a lot of tension growing up, and it never really made much sense to him at the time. His mother was a single mom, struggling to make ends meet for the two of them. They lived at Nix’s grandparents a few times, bouncing back and forth between apartments. There was never any stability, and finally, Samantha decided to stay with her parents while Nix was in school so that Nix would be able to live a normal childhood. Nix does not believe that this ever hurt him, because he thinks that instead of turning bad things into worse things, you should turn the bad into good. Mistakes are for the weak, greater knowledge is for the better.

By the time that Nix was 11, he knew that his mother had been distant. She was not coming home at night, and she was not coming home by the time he left for school in the morning. He would catch glimpses of her when he would come home from school, but then she would go off to her waitress job at the local diner. It was starting to become more “hours”, and Nix knew that wasn’t the case. He also knew that she was lying because the day that she told him she was pregnant was the day that he also stopped trusting her. Nine months later, Heidi was born, and Nix fell in love for the first time. He never met her father, and she would never meet him, either.

A small portion of Nix’s life was spent taking care of his little sister while his mom would come home drunk from work. It was never a highlight, but he knew that it would stop— it had to stop. If it didn’t, where would they end up? She loved them, right? Nix knew that his mother was just having a hard time, and that it would all end soon. He was naive like that; he always has been. Getting help was the first step, and he was lucky enough that his mom made that step. Six years sober, and Nix counts his lucky stars everyday that he didn’t lose his mom. But that part of his life story he likes to block out. It’s one of the worst memories.

Nix lost his virginity the same day he smoked his first bowl, and it is probably one of his greatest memories. It was with a pretty redhead named Fiona when he was sixteen. It’s a small tidbit of information that has stuck with him all throughout his life, and he likes to share it quite often. It’s more of a “I just met you, we have nothing to talk about” story. It’s really no secret that Nix loves the element of surprise.

Nix is quiet, but he’s not silent. There’s a lot more to him than meets the surface. He does not really have anything to do with a lot of people, but he finds that to be more than okay. Hanging out at home makes him feel like he’s a lot different than kids his age, and he enjoys that. He wants to live a simple life, even though sometimes, he thinks that his life is slipping by him.

Nix worries that he will end up bald. He really does not have a reason, other than the fact that he has so much hair and everyone jokes that it’ll all end up gone in ten years.

Currently, you would probably find Nix eating frozen yogurt, sitting underneath a tree, reading a book about the a city that he plans on visiting someday. He has been trying to hold down a job so that he could save up money, but the jobs are mostly side-work, and he doesn’t really know how long he can continue to dig holes for fences. He’s had a few jobs in bookstores, a few jobs in coffee shops, but none of them were able to keep him due to the fact that he really didn’t know what he was doing— especially in the coffee shop. But, for the moment, he’s decided that working at tech support will be enough money to sustain his busy lifestyle of having about three friends in total. In all honesty, he is trying his best to figure out what the small town of Hidden Falls still has to offer him.

It’s on the back burner of Nix’s mind to look for his father one day. It’s never really sat right with him that he doesn’t know the man, but he doesn’t know if he wants to open up that can of worms. It’s not something that he thinks that he “longs” for, but he knows that it could come up one day. He’d rather find his father, than his father to find him.

Dating is not really on Nix’s agenda. If it happens, it happens. You know?
