A Recent Commission
In what I found to be an聽exquisitely聽romantic gesture, a friend of mine and her long-distance love exchanged minerals for Valentine's Day. When the labradorite arrived, it was handed over to me to explore creative solutions for fixing this little blue beauty into something wearable.聽
After lots of tries and retries, I settled on a leather-backing, surrounded by a cord of jute rope wrapped in crochet thread. As you see, the cord makes a sweet twist at the top of the stone. I'm pleased with the contrast of the blue to the white and the brown of the leather; in fact, I have a couple beautiful pieces of unpolished turquoise that would look stunning with this treatment.
Send me a note if you have a stone that you'd like to see as a necklace.

The tea staining experiment worked. Pictured here is a tea stained sample next to the natural tone. Next step is to stain a full necklace.

This piece is a commission. The pendant is a lonely earring that lost its twin. The earrings were a special set kept in my friend's family and I am honored to incorporate the earring into a necklace for my pal.
