PSA TO ALL WITCHES
Don’t leave your crystal ball on your windowsill. I repeat. DO NOT.
I just went into my room to find it magnifying the sun onto my pillow, thus nearly setting my bed on fire c:

Follow Up Mercury Survey
Thank you so so so much to everyone who took the first survey! As you probably know, I’m still working on interpreting the responses to the first one. I got a little over 620 responses, which is great, but it’s a lot to go through if I want to do it correctly.
This one looks longer and has more questions, but they’re all either multiple choice or checkboxes, so it shouldn’t take too long to complete. Because there are no write in questions on this one, I can share the data in a more raw form because I won’t feel like I am revealing personal information about people. That way, I can share the data for others to use without feeling like I am betraying anyone’s trust.
This doesn’t mean I’m abandoning the other survey. Many of the questions on this one are to clarify and elaborate on the answers to the last one, so that when I write about the results I can provide you with better formed and more rounded out information.
Link to the Follow Up Survey
Remember, if you have any questions just shoot me an ask.
A huge thank you to @earthdove @taurusesque @lunasdarling @venusianvirgo @weirdaquarian @softvenusian and @enteuxis for helping me out with these <3
And thanks to @jupeterian @a-bigail @eralaluna @right-across-the-moonlit-hall and @ladyshades for testing the survey out for me!
And if you’re feeling generous, I just set up a ko-fi! You don’t have to donate obviously, but I’d be very appreciative if you did!

What Native people say about the use of sage: you can use sage, but you cannot smudge as nothing you are doing (waving sage around) is actually smudging. Smudging is a ceremony and you are, we promise, not smudging. Please buy sage from either us, or someone who sources the sage from us. White sage may not be considered endangered by the US government but corperate sourcing is making it difficult for us to source sage for our own religious purposes. Let alone to sell it.
What white people hear: never use sage ever, don’t ever buy it, don’t own it, don’t even look at it.
Look, y’all. There’s a couple of facets to my talk today.
1) Yes! You can buy sage! You really, truly can! Buy it from either native sellers (go to a powwow! Eat our food, buy our stuff, watch some dancing!) Or buy it from a seller who sources the sage from native people. Pick one. And no, buying it from 5 Below doesn’t count.
2) you CANNOT smudge. This isn’t just you “shouldn’t”— this is a YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF SMUDGING. Waving a sage stick around your doorways IS NOT SMUDGING. It is smoke clensing. Smudging, depending on the tradition and tribe, could easily have dancing and drums involved. You, as a white person, do not have the cultural BACKGROUND to even know how it works. At all. Period.
3) please, for FUCKS SAKE, stop making posts here on tumblr where you tell other white people about cultural appropriation and what they can and cannot do. Please stop, your license has been revoked because none of you bother to get the facts right. We native people are FULLY CAPABLE OF DOING IT OURSELVES. Consider instead: a) reblogging our posts where we talk about it! We’re here! We have made posts!! b) Making a post that states what we said and then LINKS BACK TO US. Screenshot with a link if you must. Stop centering your own voices in these conversations. You are already centered in everything, stop centering yourselves in a native space.
I’m tired of this nonsense, y’all.
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk ™

Designed to help you investigate deep emotional struggles and learn why you feel the way that you do.  1. The Issue This card represents the topic of the reading. It can represent the individual the reading is for, or the specific problem you are trying to understand.  2. The Struggle This card represents the thing that is your most immediate obstacle.
The center six cards examine the things within you that impact card one. We could say that we’re looking at your hopes and fears, the factors that determine how you feel about your situation. The row is chronological from left to right, with present day in the middle.
Top Row. External The upper row is representative of lighter aspects of the psyche. This is the face you show others, and what you are consciously, externally aware of.  Bottom Row. Internal The bottom row is the shadow aspect, your hidden fears, the feelings you wont acknowledge to yourself.
Bottom of Cut. Outcome I use the bottom card on the deck or the bottom card of the cut, depending how I deal, as the destination or outcome card. This tells us how you can expect things to “shake out”, if you continue the current course. You can see the spread in action here using the Klimt Tarot deck.

us witches get colds too
Tumblr media
hello greenies! i’ve been getting sicker and sicker as the seasons change and so have my fellow witches. this is a loose recipe that i use for colds and i hope it can help. sorry if the measurements aren’t exact!
for kettle:
4 cups of water
2 lemons
chopped ginger (an inch? maybe less depending on how strong you want it)
a small handful of peppermint (i have the hands of a child)
2 sticks on cinnamon
honey (will put in at the end)
for cup
1 cup of water
¼ of an inch of ginger
a few of leaves of peppermint
half a stick ( if you have powder use like 1 tsp?) of cinnamon
honey (will put in at the end)
directions
heat up water until it comes to a nice low boil/simmer. place ginger, peppermint, and cinnamon in.
after 4 minutes place thyme and lemon.
***for the lemon make sure you cut in half, squeeze out, and place the peels in the water (for kettles place 1 of the lemon shells in the water, for cup place a few slices). let sit for another 4 minutes. then when done put in cups!
put in as much honey as you want! (i use about a tablespoon per cup) stir clockwise and chant:
“Frost in the body, cast out.
Mother Earth bring to me health and wellness.
Bring to me the warmth of spring.
Frost in the body, cast out.”
visualize a green light flowing into the cup as you chant and as you drink that same light travels into you.
enjoy!!!

To The Witch Who Doesn’t Feel “Witchy” Enough:
✨You are divine.
✨Witchcraft isn’t a competition.
✨Differences should be celebrated, not lamented.
✨You contain multitudes. Your feelings and perceptions may fluctuate, but you will always be you.
✨What another witch says about you says more about the witch than it does about you.
✨Taking a break from practicing witchcraft doesn’t mean you are taking a break from being a witch.
✨You are what you are, and that is pure magic.

My advice for Beginner Witches.
Dear Witchy Friends. 🌙
I’ve been requested this post various times and finally I’ve had the time to write it. Many of you have asked me for some advice for beginner witches.  There are countless posts and books and articles out there that talk about this topic, written by people way more experienced than I am; this is just my personal take on the subject. My advice is based on my personal experience with magick, and, of course, it’s not the absolute truth.  Nevertheless, I hope that this post will be helpful to anyone who wants to approach witchcraft.
Tumblr media
Every witch is a real witch. I can’t count the times I found myself asking the question of whether I was a “real” witch or not. All the energy and time I spent thinking about this, was energy and time I didn’t spend progressing in my craft. If you choose to be a witch, you can be one, no matter your level of experience and no matter what your beliefs are. There is no such thing as a “natural” witch; you don’t need to have witches in your family or ancestry to be one.
No Gods, no masters. While all forms of religious magick are perfectly valid and should always be respected, not all witches adhere to a specific religion or worship specific deities. It’s easy to be persuaded that the only way to do magick is to work with a certain God and Goddess, especially since the vast majority of the witchcraft community online is formed by Wiccan witches. As a witch with an atheist upbringing, this was a big problem for me, since I could not (and I still can’t) bring myself to worship a God. You don’t have to force yourself into beliefs that don’t resonate with you; many forms of magick don’t involve religion, such as Alchemy and most of The Left Hand Path.
You are your own temple. Magick can be done anywhere, anytime. As a beginner witch I always thought that I had to go to specific places in order to be inspired. I guess I had this stereotypical idea of the witch that walks through the forest and becomes one with Nature. While it’s ok to do this if it’s your thing, it’s important to remember that you are all that you need and there isn’t a place inherently more magickal than another. When casting a spell or doing a ritual, especially as a beginner, it’s better to be comfortable and relaxed in a place you know well and that makes you feel safe.
Expect and welcome change. Witchcraft is a transformative experience. You will find yourself believing one thing one day and completely changing your mind the day after. As you go through your first year as a witch, you will probably end up challenging all the beliefs that you had in the beginning. It’s fine to try out different forms of magick and shift between different belief systems; as your ideas evolve, you will discover what is really significant to you. Regret nothing; every experience you made is a part of your spiritual journey and it won’t be wasted.
Magick in theory and practice. Theory is important. As any witch will tell you, if you want to do magick, read as much as you can, write as much as you can. Nonetheless, abstract knowledge is pointless if it’s not associated with practical experiences. I know that performing a ritual or casting a spell can be scary and overwhelming in the beginning. Still, it’s important to experiment and try new things. You will never know if something works for you unless you try. As a beginner witch, you will find yourself pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone - don’t be afraid and go for it!

Here’s a fundamental instruction in performing any act of magick:
Decide what you want to occur.
Ensure that what you want to occur has a means of manifestation.
Choose an experience.
Decide that the experience means the same thing as what you want to occur.
Perform the act / undergo the experience.
Result.

Warning: nazi witch blog that needs to be blocked and reported
Tumblr media
This is the blog of @bornofthelivingblacksun
They are openly a Nazi and a witch, and more than half their posts are about Hitler and nazism. They are openly and unabashedly supportive of Hilter, and needs to be blocked and reported for violence or hate speech.
I have only been checking Tumblr on my hiatus to check blogs that follow me (to block porn blogs mostly), and I saw that this piece of shit was following me. Normally I say don’t harass people and just block and move on, but y'all take this information and do as you will. I personally don’t care what happens to anyone promoting genocide and antisemitism, among certainly other hateful things.
Witchcraft community of Tumblr, please be aware of any Nazis or Nazi sympathizers that may follow you, and make it as clear as possible that they aren’t welcome here! Nazis, fuck off!
I’m going to be tagging this with a lot of overlapping community tags as well so that this can be spread more.

STOP TELLING PEOPLE TO PUT ESSENTIAL OILS IN THEIR BATH WATER
WATER DOES NOT DIFFUSE THE OIL. IT’S JUST A CARRIER. YOU CAN GET THIS STUFF ON OR IN YOU IN A HIGH CONCENTRATION AND HURT YOURSELF.
WHEN YOU USE THESE OILS, THEY NEED DILUTED WITH ANOTHER /OIL/. WATER AND OIL DON’T MIX. YOU KNOW THIS. THAT’S WHY IT’S RISKY TO JUST DROP IN IN YOUR BATH. IT”S FLOATING AROUND UNDILUTED.
