NEW 3-FINGER ELECTRIC GRIPPER WITH LARGE STROKE FOR HANDLING WIDE RANGE OF CYLINDRICAL OBJECTS
OnRobot’s 3FG15 three-finger gripper with a 150mm stroke is a powerful alternative to bulkier and less-flexible three-finger grippers currently on the market – a unique solution. The new gripper excels at heavy-payload machine-tending applications that require high precision and flexible handling.
OnRobot, the makers of a full line of plug-and-produce robotics tools for collaborative applications, continues to drive innovation with the release of the compact, large-stroke 3FG15 three-finger gripper. The 3FG15 makes previously hard-to-automate precision handling of cylindrical parts easy to program and deploy, and provides flexibility for a wide range of part sizes. The 3FG15 gripper has a maximum stroke of 150mm that can easily handle multiple processes. The innovative three-finger design with a 15 kg (33 lb) payload provides a strong, stable grip for both form fit (internal) or friction fit (external) gripping, adding flexibility to any implementation.
Ideal for CNC machine tending
The gripper’s design, specifically developed for machine-tending tasks, automatically centers workpieces, resulting in a strong, stable grip and precise placement in machine chucks. With a gripping force from 20 N to 240 N, the 3FG15 competes with much less flexible finger grippers.

Bridgestone - Emilio Tibero, Technology Leader innovates by fitting tires with transmitters
Using the data, the tire would send warnings to the driver.
In the Japanese center of Bridgestone, Japan, Emilio Tibero, the company's technology manager said that the first step in the development of smart tires is the introduction of the so-called RFID technology, which identifies the tire.
In the future, the company would first install transmitters primarily on tires for commercial vehicles, which, in addition to rubber pressure, also monitor the condition of the rubber tread. Using this data, the manufacturer can send advice and warnings to customers. Identity even allows for the creation of individual prices, said the specialist.
Emilio Tibero added that in the case of a car sharing service, it is essential for the user of the rubber to share data that is essential for the management of the fleet. Data collection will take place in accordance with the GDPR Principles - indicated.
Emilio Tiberio recalled their latest research, which shows that by 2030, every car will have smart technology that will provide data, 57 percent will be fully electric, and 22 percent will have a self-guiding function.
The chief technology officer said the company will spend $ 800 million annually on research and development, a large part of which will be used to develop future rubber.
According to their surveys, there will be a growing demand for quieter tires, as the number of cars continues to rise. This is also supported by the manufacturer's new tire with Enliten technology, which, according to tests, has a 10 percent lighter and 20 percent lower rolling resistance than previous tires. The lower resistance also results in lower noise levels, lower consumption and thus lower CO2 emissions.  @Bridgestone

Volkswagen sees battery cell supply secured for first wave of EVs
Volkswagen brand does not expect to have problems with supplies of battery cells for its new wave of full-electric cars. Other automakers, including Audi and Hyundai, have suffered bottlenecks in battery supplies.
By 2021, VW Group plans to build 330,000 electric vehicles a year for its VW, Audi and Seat brands at its plant in Zwickau, Germany.
The first is the VW ID3, which starts series production later this year after its debut at the Frankfurt auto show in September. The ID3, the first of a new family of purpose-built VW brand EVs, will be delivered to the first customers in mid-2020.
"I can confirm that for the first years of our plan, a sufficient supply of cells has been contractually secured," said Thomas Ulbrich, VW brand management board member in charge of electric mobility, adding this was the case until 2023.
Ulbrich refuted speculation in the German press that VW's current battery cell suppliers may cancel contracts after VW's decision to invest 1 billion euros in a battery cell plant in Salzgitter, Germany, with Swedish partner Northvolt.

PSA to assemble batteries for hybrid, electric cars in Slovakia
French carmaker PSA, owner of the Peugeot, Citroen and DS brands, will start assembling batteries for its hybrid and electric cars at its plant in Trnava, Slovakia, and later at its plant in Vigo, Spain.
The company also expects to assemble batteries at some of its other factories as sales of electric cars pick up, Peugeot’s industrial director Yann Vincent said on Friday at a plant in the town of Tremery in eastern France.
The carmaker currently buys batteries from South Korean company LG and China’s CATL.
Vincent added the company expected rising demand for electric and hybrid cars, as well as for vehicles with automatic gearboxes, to offset falling demand for diesel and manual gearbox cars.
Peugeot expects output of engines at Tremery will fall to 1.7 million this year, down from 1.8 million last year due to falling demand for diesel cars.

The four types of robots must be known to all manufacturers
Nowadays, robots play a major role in the manufacturing sector, as they help manufacturers in many ways to face the challenges of the market. An overview by Industry Week British Industry Portal can help you understand how these tools can fit into the daily life of a manufacturing facility, which operation is appropriate.
Tumblr media
1. Articulated Robots
These devices are classified by the number of hinges or axes. The most common is the 6-axis articulated robot, but there are also 4-axis and 7-axis units on the market. Due to their mobility and their range of action, they are ideal for performing tasks in non-parallel planes as well as machining. Articulated robots easily take over obstacles, get to the tool holder compartment and under various obstacles to access the workpiece. The devices are equipped with sealed connections and protective sleeves to be used in cleaner and dirty environments, and are easy to install almost anywhere. The drawback of these robots is perhaps the cost of using them, as they are much more expensive to use than other robots.
Tumblr media
2. SCARA Robots
The SCARA robots have been designed to carry out "pick and place" or simpler assembly operations between the two parallel planes. Robots are lightweight and ideal for working in crowded places, and also provide fast cycle times. However, the fixed swing arm design may encounter obstacles in certain operations, limited access in certain directions and situations.
Tumblr media
3. Delta Robots
The device control lever operates with three motors. The basic delta robot models are 3-axis units, but 4 and 6-axis robots are also available. The delta arms are very light, allowing quick movement. So robots are ideal for high-speed, low-load operations.
Tumblr media
4. Cartesian Robots
Robots typically consist of three or more linear sliding motors that fit a particular application. They are positioned above the workspace so that they occupy as little space as possible, and can operate cost effectively thanks to standard sliding motors and fasteners. Larger capacity units can also be connected to other devices (such as articulated robots) to enhance performance. The unique character of robots can facilitate design, specification and programming. The problem with these tools is that they can't easily get inside the devices and they can't work in dusty environments because of their sliding mechanisms.

US car tariffs can threaten up to 25,000 jobs in the Czech Republic, the association warns
Possible US customs on the automotive sector would potentially endanger up to a fifth of Czech exports in the automotive industry and up to 25,000 jobs. The CEO of the Automotive Industry Association Zdeněk Petzl informed about it. According to Deloitte chief economist David Marek, the risk of introducing a 25 percent duty on exports of cars and their parts from the EU to the US would mean a fall in automotive industry revenues of about CZK 12 billion a year.
Petzl pointed out that Germany is the largest trading partner of the Czech Republic, where parts are exported for about 185 billion crowns, which corresponds to approximately 20 percent of exports in the automotive industry. "These parts usually end up in German cars, which are - especially in the premium category - Germany's main export to the US, with the US being Germany's largest trading partner. Thus, as much as one fifth of Czech exports in our sector are threatened, and up to 25,000 jobs are estimated, ”he said.
Marek added that the Czech Republic would be the fourth most affected country in Europe after Germany, Sweden and Slovakia. “Despite the fact that cars from the Czech Republic are hardly exported from the US, unlike Slovakia, losses through subcontracting parts to automakers in other European countries would reach about 0.1 percent of GDP annually, similar to Slovakia. At the revenue level, this means a decrease of about $ 12 billion a year. Such would be the Trump's trade war price with Europe for the Czech Republic, ”he said...
