Sooooo, this back bedroom will most probably end up being my 4 year old's bedroom. It would be quite nice to have a decorative fire place as a focal point for the room.... I have removed the vent plate and will see what lies beneath the plaster. Will be back with my hammer and chisel....

Well works are truly underway. We have gone with trades recommended by my marvelous builder who is busy on another project. The walls are in a bad state - lots of crumbling plaster. Deep joy!
