By order of Educational Decree no. 48, Squibs can now attended Hogwarts School of Witchcracft and Wizardry. All was well. After fifteen months of roleplaying, New Radicals closed its doors. We're beyond grateful for everyone who applied, joined, and loved this place as much as we did. We set out to create a unique Harry Potter Next Generation RPG, with a focus on bringing forth new plots and inclusiveness. We're so proud of this community of talented, kind, and thoughtful writers. If you need to get in touch, you can find us at War is Kind RPG, a Harry Potter Marauders Era Roleplay. We also welcome you to send us a message here. We'll respond ASAP! xo, Admins B, H, & NNew Radicals RPGAugust 2015 - December 2016

And that’s a wrap! We want to thank each and every one of you for your participation in our little RP for the last year and a half. We couldn’t have done it without you and each one of your lovely characters. We got to know you in character as the wonderful writers as you are and out of character as friends, and we are so grateful for that. If you want to take your character somewhere else in another RP, we completely understand that, but please make sure that you ask us before you do so. We have so much respect for the work you put in, but we would also like to know where the characters we created are being played. If you ever need anything -- either regarding taking characters elsewhere, about life, or anything else -- don’t hesitate to shoot one of us a message!
Thank you again for everything!
-xoxo Admins B, H, & N

Hi, everyone! We sincerely hope each and every one of you are doing well. We come bearing some big news, and we really appreciate your attention. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let us know! We’re here for you.
First of all, we want to thank you. Really, thank you. New Radicals has been a thriving, inclusive RPG since August 2015, and we are humbly in your gratitude. We wouldn’t be here without our wonderful players, both past and present. As a group, we’ve written so many compelling stories – stories about love, loss, justice, hope, tragedy, and hilarity. It’s hard to believe we’ve come this far, but we have. We admins are so proud of you. We’re so proud of New Radicals.
Therefore, this message certainly isn’t an easy one to relay. We love this group, and we don’t want anyone sad.
After much deliberation, we have decided to close New Radicals.
Please know this has nothing to do with any of you, nor the writing you’ve done. Everyone here is wonderful, and the dash is always dynamic and welcoming. However, we feel the overarching plot of this RPG is coming to a close. When we three admins first sought to create a Harry Potter Next Generation RP, we immediately knew we wanted something innovative. No war, nor the return of Voldemort. We wanted something deep and meaningful, yet still lighthearted. We designed New Radical’s plot to parallel the many social justice issues surrounding our present lives, and we believe every player here took this to heart. We never thought a plot surrounding Squibs would become beloved by so many of you, and we’re endlessly flattered that all of you chose New Radicals.
The good news is that we’re not closing immediately! For the next couple of weeks, feel free to continue roleplaying as you normally would. We are still accepting applications thought midnight EST on this Sunday, November 20th. We still have a couple of events planned to make sure we go out in style (a Hogsmeade Weekend planned for this weekend, for starters). Use this time to go wild and play out all those plots you’ve hesitated to play out before. Let your characters be as dramatic as they want to be. Let them make that dumb mistake you’ve always talked them out of before. Let them confess their feelings to their longtime crush. Whatever you’ve put off, the next couple of weeks are your time to do it.
On the first weekend of December, we have a special final event planned. More details will be released closer to that weekend, but we don’t want to send you off with any less than all the fun and excitement that all of you deserve! On Sunday, December 4th, we will be closing the New Radicals main.
What you do after that is up to you! If you want to keep using these blogs to play with your fellow New Radicals members, feel free to do so! The three of us are pretty deeply invested in these characters after over year of playing them, and we’re sure all of you are too. The one thing we do ask is that you don’t take your characters to another group without receiving permission from us first. Just shoot a message to the main, and one of us will get back to you.
We know that this is a difficult message to read and process (not to mention jam-packed with a lot of information), so if you have any questions, concerns, comments, etc. that you would like addressed, we’ll be keeping a hawk’s eye on the inbox for the next couple of weeks as we prepare to shut this operation down. Please dont’ hesitate to reach out to us, no matter how large or small your concern. We’ve been here to help with everything thus far, and this won’t be any different.
Thank you again to everyone who has made the past fifteen months here at New Radicals unforgettable! We can’t wait to make our big finale just as memorable and exciting with all of you over the next few weeks.
Lots of Love,
Admins B, H, & N

Patch up the holes in your mittens, and grab that extra jumper on your way out of the castle. As the students of Hogwarts take to the streets of Hogsmeade this weekend, the chilling air of fall joins them, nipping at noses and causing colds. There are plenty of sales going on this weekend, but be sure to take in the sites while you can! The weather’s sure to only get colder by the next weekend visit.
For those who are already itching to warm to up and ward off the cold---
The Three Broomsticks is running a happy hour special from noon to three, offering half-off a bottle of Butterbeer with the purchase of any other drink.
Once you’ve warmed up inside the Three Broomsticks, head over to Dominic Maestro’s Music Shop to hear the latest releases from bands like Peruvian Vipertooth and Night Kappa.
Finally, end your afternoon at J. Pippin’s Potions to watch a magnificent display of pyrotechnic potions live in the shop (and perhaps pick up a few ounces of 20% off beetle eyes while you’re there).
Students third year and above are permitted to attend Hogsmeade this Saturday, November 19th, as long as they have a signed slip from a parent or guardian permitting them to do so. This visit is open to magical and Squib students alike—although the students of Buchanan house are strongly advised to take extra precaution around strangers, and any object that might exhibit magical tendencies. Their magical peers are advised to help them do just that, and help make this trip a save visit for everybody.
OOC Info:
This event will take place from 12 A.M. EST on Saturday, Novermber 19th through 11:59 P.M. EST on Sunday, November 20th., so please be sure to post your starters for this event by then (although you’re welcome to Starters are not required to be in Hogsmeade during this time period, but please indicate your character’s location in the tags. Both students and graduates are permitted to participate in this event, so take full advantage and enjoy your time away from the castle!

I offer one corn chip if u do acceptances pls
Okay, but I have a lot of questions about the logistics of splitting one corn chip fairly between three admins. You wouldn’t want any individual admin to get more corn chip than the others, as we all do an equal amount of work regarding application decisions. And corn chips are notoriously difficult to split up.

no

nope

hell no
This is all to say that all three admins have had unexpectedly busy weekends, but we’re working out a couple of last minute details and will be getting to them shortly. If have questions about your app in particular, feel free to message us off anon, and we’ll be able to give you an update.
-Admin H (as if there was any doubt)

The first match of the season offered all the excitement that we have come to expect the rivalry of Gryffindor and Slytherin. Both teams showed up ready to compete today, and the first couple of hours were a constant back and form between the two teams, and no team got more than a couple of goals ahead of the other. At the beginning of the third hour, it was all tied up at 90 points each, a testament more to the quality of the chasers than the quality of the new keepers. It was a great catch by Slytherin keeper Ophelia Selwyn that decided the match, giving Slytherin another 150 points.
Slytherin wins, 240 to 90!
{ OOC: Thanks to everyone who helped us decide today’s match! The OOC score was 80 points to Slytherin and 30 points to Gryffindor. Please feel free to start post-match threads too. Cheers! }

Hi, friends! This is just a quick note to remind everyone that there are a little more than four hours left to earn and submit points towards this weekend’s Quidditch match! Be sure to have your points submitted by MIDNIGHT EST, or they won’t be counted towards the match.
Good luck, everybody!

Quidditch season is here at last---and with our golden lions and silver serpents to lead the way in!
The first match of the season will take place this Saturday, November 12th. Gryffindor and Slytherin will face off at 11 a.m. Get to the stands early to make sure you get a seat for this season’s kick-off match!
OOC information:
While the match will be starting in character at 11 a.m. on Saturday, the festivities will be going all weekend long! You’re welcome to post starters at the match or at after parties throughout the weekend, although we ask that all starters made for this event be posted after 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, the 11th, and prior to 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, the 12th. (You can, of course, continue to reply to quidditch threads after this time!) The tag for this event will be: Event: GS Quidditch.
The results of the match will be posted on Saturday afternoon, naming the winner and leaving all of our characters to celebrate or mope as they see fit. To our players who have Slytherin and Gryffindor players, if you want something specific to happen to your character, please let us know by the time you submit your points so it can be included in the results!
To determine the score…
From now until 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, the 11th, your activity will be awarded points. You must keep a tally of the points your characters earn over the next few days. You can receive points for the following:
Every starter you post between now and Friday at 11:59 p.m. EST: 10 points.
Every time your character replies to a new starter: 10 points. (Please note, this is only a one time per starter reward. I.E.: your character does not receive 10 points per reply, just for their initial reply to the starter)
If your starter gets over 50 notes worth of replies: 50 points.
If your starter gets over 100 notes worth of replies: 100 points.
Any drabble you post for your character which is over 100 words: 20 points.
Any drabble you post for your character which is over 300 words: 30 points.
Any qudditch themed playlists you create: 20 points. (make sure to tag as ‘newradicalsrpg’ so we can see your creation and jam out!)
And finally, if your character interacts with a character they’ve never spoken to before: 10 points.
You are responsible for keeping a tally of how many points your character(s) earn. Please submit your character’s final point value to the main’s ask by 11:59 p.m. EST on November 11th. After this time, you will not be awarded points for the aforementioned actions, so make sure you get your points in on time! The house with the most points earned will win the quidditch match!
As for our Buchanan, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and graduated, characters, you can absolutely participate too! Please indicate which house (Gryffindor or Slytherin) you’re awarding your character’s points to when you submit them to the main. (We will be cutting graduate characters’ points in half again, so if you do this math prior to submitting your posts, let us know! Otherwise, we’ll be cutting whatever total you submit for your graduated character in half.)
As always, please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions, and best of luck to everyone!
Cheers!

Is this RP more plot based or character-development based? I was just wondering if there were going to be any upcoming major plot events? Also this group looks really interesting!!!
Hi! First of all, thank you! We’re so glad you’re intrigued, and we hope that means we’ll be seeing an application from you soon!
We’re built on a combination of the two. While we do plan events and major plots that affect most (if not all) characters fairly regularly, we leave the vast majority of the plotting and development up to our members. Whether they plan for their characters’ arcs to be plot driven or development driven is completely up to them (and will be up to your discretion as well if you choose to join us!).
We have another major arc for the overarching plot of the roleplay coming up soon after Halloween, so you can bet that the dash will be bursting with upcoming events that have been woven into that.
Thanks again for your interest! If there’s anything else we can help you with, feel free to let us know!
