makes me irrationally irritated when people call things hyperfixations or say they’re hyperfixated on something when they just . like it . they thought about it a bit . they focused on it some quantity of time but not intensely at all. because like whatever to each their own but even i feel like i use the word hyperfixation a lot to describe things but i only do when it’s something that i’m genuinely hyperfixated on . and i genuinely always have at least one or two so yeah i say it a lot . but i’m not just saying it to mean “i like this thing a decent amount” . i have things i love that i don’t even call hyperfixes bc they aren’t just because i really like them and maybe spent an afternoon fixated on it pretty normalstyle . “i’m sooo hyperfixated on this song lolol” and you listen to it twice a week if that . i say i’m hyperfixated on a song and i mean i’ve listened to it an average of 50 to 80 times a week every week for like two months . i’ve listened to it 800 times since march . not to like gatekeep a term it’s Not that deep but it’s still like . if you are the kind of person who would look at me weird when i said i watched the same movie four times in one week you cannot call something you vaguely care about a hyperfixation and expect me not to look at you weird also
