1. Kath Viner was named the editor-in-chief of The Guardian on Friday afternoon. She will be the first female editor in The Guardian’s 194-year history.

2. Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is encouraging the company’s 191,000 employees to talk about race relations with customers in a new initiative called “Race Together.” “To be honest there were people that said, this is not a subject you should touch. This is not for you, this is not for a company, this is for someone else,” Schultz said in a video message to employees. “I reject that. I reject that completely because we can’t leave this to someone else.”

3. Prosecutors in Los Angeles County officially charged Robert Durst with the 2000 murder of long-time friend Susan Berman. Those following The Jinx know that Durst seemingly confessed to three murders in the finale.

4. In an interview with Vice published on Monday, President Obama said that the legalization of marijuana “shouldn’t be young people’s biggest priority.” He went on to say: "I'd separate out the issue of decriminalization of marijuana from encouraging its use." Later adding, "I always say to folks, legalization or decriminalization is not a panacea. Do you feel the same way about meth? Do we feel the same way about coke? How about crack? How about heroin? There is a legitimate, I think, concern about the overall effects this has on society, particularly vulnerable parts of our society."

1. University of Oklahoma President David Boren announced on Tuesday that he expelled two students identified in playing “a leadership role” in singing the racist Sigma Alpha Epsilon chant recorded on video. This move followed his immediate dismantlement of Sigma Alpha Epsilon on the OU campus.

2. Uber announced a plan to hire one million women drivers by 2020 as part of a global partnership with UN Women. As of December, Uber had a total of 160,000 drivers in the United States and 14% of them were women.

3. The “Blurred Lines” trial wrapped up on Tuesday, ordering Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams to pay the family of Marvin Gaye about $7.4 million in damages and profits earned for copyright infringement. The jury had been deliberating since last week on the case, which claimed that the massive 2013 hit song from Thicke and Williams stole from Gaye’s 1977 hit “Got to Give It Up.

4. On Thursday, Kathy Griffin announced in a statement via Twitter that she is leaving E!’s “Fashion Police.” Griffin's exit comes just weeks after co-host Kelly Osbourne left the show in the midst of drama surrounding Giuliana Rancic's offensive remarks about actress Zendaya's dreadlocks. 1. Jodi Arias will not receive the death penalty for the murder of her former boyfriend, Travis Alexander. The Arizona jury said on Thursday that they were unable to reach a verdict, declaring a mistrial and setting a new sentencing date for April 13.

2. Hilary Clinton took to Twitter on Wednesday to state the she wants the public to see her emails after the controversy surrounding her use of a personal email account to conduct business while serving as secretary of state. She tweeted: "I want the public to see my email. I asked State to release them. They said they will review them for release as soon as possible."

3. All-women's college Wellesley announced on Thursday that it would begin accepting transgender women. The letter to the school community said that anyone who "lives as a woman and consistently identifies as a woman" would be considered for admission.

4. Executive Katharine Zaleski wrote a powerful essay apologizing to mothers she worked with at The Huffington Post and The Washington Post. The essay in Fortune went viral on Tuesday, as Zaleski admits: “I didn’t realize how horrible I’d been – until I had a child of my own.” Read it here.

5. Former CIA director Gen. David Petraeus will plead guilty to leaking classified information in 2011 to his biographer Paula Broadwell, with whom he was having an extramarital affair. The charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison, as well as a $100,000 fine.

3. Top Police Chief Richard Beary backed President Obama's nominee for attorney general, Loretta Lynch, and called for her immediate confirmation. “The IACP believes that Ms. Lynch’s years of service have clearly demonstrated that she has the qualifications and experience necessary to be an effective leader of the U.S. Department of Justice,” he said.

4. After Giuliana Rancic mocked Zendaya's dreadlocks at the Oscars on Fashion Police saying, "She looks like she smells like patchouli oil and weed," the 18-year-old singer/actress posted this powerful message on Instagram.

1. Russian punk group Pussy Riot released a video called "I Can't Breathe," dedicated to Eric Garner. This is Nadya Tolokonnikova and Masha Alyokhina's first song in English.

2. Marathon runner Hyvon Ngetich dragged herself to the finish line of the Austin Marathon on Sunday after her body almost gave up. After the race, the event’s director, John Conley, told Ngetich: “You ran the bravest race and crawled the bravest crawl I have ever seen in my life.”

3. Drake's surprise mixtape, If You're Reading This It's Too Late, shattered streaming records on Spotify this week. The album was streamed a record-breaking 23.6 million times on the service in just its first four days, according to Spotify.

4. A bill proposed by Oklahoma state Sen. Anthony Sykes (R) would mandate that all couples seeking a marriage license undergo a blood test "for the discovery of syphilis and other communicable or infectious diseases." 
If an STD is discovered, a marriage license can only be obtained if a state-licensed physician can state that the disease is "not in a stage which may be communicable to the marriage partner."

5. The creators of a female Viagra-type pill are re-submitting their application to the FDA. If approved, Sprout Pharmaceuticals' pill would be the first of its kind for women with libido issues. Read more here.

3. Jamie Brewer made runway history this week as the first woman with Down syndrome to walk at New York Fashion Week. Brewer, who stars in FX's American Horror Story walked in designer Carrie Hammer's show. Since her first runway show in 2014, Hammer has been known for her “Role Models Not Runway Models” campaign.

4. Brian Williams was suspended for six months without pay over a false Iraq story. The NBC Nightly News anchor came under fire last week after U.S. military personnel questioned his story that he was aboard a downed helicopter in Iraq in 2003.

1. ISIS claims American hostage Kayla Mueller has died after Jordanian airstrikes on the building in Syria where she was being held. It is not confirmed that Mueller, 26, is dead. Read what we know about the humanitarian aid worker here.

2. Drafts for the arrest of Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner were found in deceased prosecutor Alberto Nisman's house. Nisman was found mysteriously dead in his home on Jan. 18. The 26-page arrest warrant draft accused Fernandez and other officials of deliberately shielding Iranian links to the bombing at the Jewish community center.

3. Plus-sized model Ashley Graham landed a Sports Illustrated swimsuit ad. "I know my curves are sexy and I want everyone to know that theirs are too. This is no reason to hide and every reason to flaunt. The world is ready for more curves in bikinis," Graham said in a statement. #CurvesinBikinis

4. Harper Lee is set to release a sequel to "To Kill a Mockingbird." It will be her first new work in more than 50 years. She was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for To Kill a Mockingbird and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2007 for her contributions to literature.
