♕ Whoa, sorry for the lack of activity here! I feel so guilty! Things have been HELLA busy, and I’ve been all around extremely exhausted. Juggling real life, and my internet life is tough. I have like zero energy, so during my free time, I just want to vedge and sleep. I will be coming back tho. Spot is my baby, and I love him, and I love all of you ! –––– in the meantime, I’ll try, and make time to hop on so I can at least fill my queue, and start being somewhat active. I want to be active! I hate being away from the one hobby I love : ( So, I’ll aim to do that sometime this weekend. And quick note before I leave : an ex / an old friend of mine wrote a book! And it’s amazing! If you’re looking for something new to read, I highly recommend it! ( I’m still reading it ) You can get a copy here ( THE TAIL )

BOOKWORM
The odd looks that Matilda received on her way to and from the library every day was proof enough to her that people were not used to seeing such a small child wandering the streets on their own. That, as well as the fact that she had never passed another unaccompanied child on any of her journeys. Though she had never been advised not to do so of course - it wasn’t as though her parents were aware of her outings. She wondered, if they had been, would they try to stop her or let her continue on her own? Would they care either way? She couldn’t imagine them suddenly becoming protective of their daughter.
“I’ve been ‘free of parental supervision’ since I was two and a half.” She had never realised it was something to be free of. Matilda looked around her as though what she was supposed to be exploring would jump out at her and make itself entirely obvious. Which currently - it was not. “I’ve… been to the park?” she tried, with a shrug, unsure as to what the boy had expected an unsupervised child to do in a situation like hers.
She followed his instruction almost immediately, gathering up all of the pages and placing them carefully back into her bag. There was one quick glance down to her watch, she still had most of the day yet to fill, and it was hardly as though she had any plans. Matilda stood up and swung her bag over her shoulder with a smile, unsure of where they were going, but as long as she could find her way back, she didn’t feel the need for concern.
Matilda supposed that she had explored a little more back in England - even if it was only around her small neighbourhood. But since being uprooted, she hadn’t yet tried traversing her new surroundings. She could quite happily spend full days, curled up on the comfiest armchair in the library, reading right up until the moment that she had to leave in order to beat her parents back home. That was what the child considered a brilliant day.
She looked from his hand, to Spot’s face, a few times over, before she cottoned on and took his with her own tinier hand and smiled, “Where are we going?”

DONNING AN INSCRUTABLE EXPRESSION, Spot blew out a lungful of air before biting down on his tongue. It took a lot of will power, the Newsie was holding back every execrable, but deserving thing he wanted to say about Matilda’s neglectful parents –– but knew insulting her family wouldn’t protrude any positive results.
After all, Spot wouldn’t put it past her to defend them –– he knew a number of kids who would stand up for their messed up kin. That included himself, not that he talked about his family at all. He never did. However, he felt Matilda’s troubles on a personal level, as her neglect reminded him a lot of his own when he was growing up. He was always alone too. He didn’t like it then –– and seeing this poor girl, who was only five... well, it just wasn’t fair. She deserved a real family. One she could make for herself, like he did with the Newsies.
At the roll of his shoulders, the Brooklynite managed ( though almost faltered ) to grin back at the girl, and where their hands warmly connected. And this somehow pervaded the boy with a certain ‘ brotherly ‘ feeling that often only found him around the younger boys –– albeit he’d never admit that out loud, and he often ignored it. This however, he didn’t mind. Not with her.
❝ How ‘bout Rosie’s? ❞ Spot asked, and noticed just how much more his stomach hurt –– it felt so painfully empty. He couldn’t wait. ❝ I mean, they ain’t far, an they’re affordable –– better menu too, compared to Tibby’s over in ‘hattan, if ya’ ask me, anyway. ❞ He expressed, as he lightly tugged her along, leading them away from the park.
