(Daily Chat - Day 274 #2 - The Fantastic Three - How To Eat Pickles)
"Frankly, I would rather have found out through this conversation they were having directly in front of me they were trying to poison me. Do I really need to thoroughly inspect all of my food now, even Barbatos's cooking!?
"I'm not going to eat the pickles, Barbatos! Even if you sneak them into my food! Can't a King be picky with one food in the privacy of his own home!?" Diavolo probably looks angry to anyone who hasn’t seen him making the huffy, pouty face before. As it is, to someone experienced, he most likely looks like he’s pouting and quietly throwing a Brat Prince Tantrum©.
“You could have at least asked Beelzebub instead of Lucifer. . . .”
#i eat everything else!!! i like all other foods!!!#well maybe not all but *most*!#can't i get away with one thing!?#canon text tbt#ruler of demons | ic

In Finnish folklore, Devil (Piru) isn’t just an evil hunter of souls tempting people into sinful things like gambling and drinking. He’s aware that no matter what bad happens, humans will blame him (and his demons) for it, even when he has done nothing.
Because of this, Devil sometimes helps those in trouble out from sheer “I’m so not up for getting blamed for this shit I have not done!”-attitude.
#you see part of the problem with that demons and devils are always associated with being evil#is simply the source material#demons can and will be evil and harmful i won't deny that#but the perspective that we MUST be evil MUST be malintended we are ALWAYS cruel and up to no good#where did you learn that from i wonder#the celestial realm doesn't exactly have a history of speaking of us in kind words#why do you believe everything they say without question?#of course because they tell you we'll say things like this to tempt you. to make your faith waver. to trick you.#because they have a history of a mindset where they are the only good.#perhaps they are the tempters and decievers and not demonkind.#demonkind tbt#((op i'm sorry i wrote something strange in the tags here lol))#((thank you for sharing this!! the folklore and interpretations in other cultures is always so much fun to learn))#((your art is awesome and your devil is handsome lol))#((now i'm imagining demons doing good deeds like '~nobody will believe you~!' as they disappear lmao))#art tbt

“Hello, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well! Rest assured I’m still here, still taking questions, and I’m doing alright myself. There are a few longer-form things I wanted to respond to before I took care of shorter responses(I wonder if this seems backwards to most people? That’s always how I learned to do things) and I’ve been trying not to rush them lest I somehow mistake them for paperwork. But I’m almost done with one!
“On the upside, Solomon’s taking care of something for me. On the downside it’s not the end of anything--quite the opposite, I imagine--and I’ll have to talk to Simeon, and Simeon and Solomon will probably want me to talk to Michael and. . . .”
Diavolo heaves a sigh and shakes his head returning to his paperwork.
He’s muttering in some demonic tongue, occasionally stopping to focus himself, returning to reading a document, only to start again as if plagued by a mess of thoughts and plans.
He seems even busier than usual. He’d probably appreciate some asks for later, though.
#Ruler of Demons | IC#obey me! spoilers implied#((the plot approaching from the background gives me more excuse to take it slow lol))#((don't worry we're still here))#((diavolo is just worried about [SPOILER] lol))#((and also not looking forward to being around Simeon))#((a phone call with Michael doesn't sound like the end of the world but considering Michael kinda threatened him last chapter))#((not really looking forward to THAT either lmao))#((all in all he's a busy bee--er dragon))#((with a lot going on in his life. poor guy.))#((aaaanyway i'm almost done with the ask about what he thinks of the brothers lol o/))#((then i have another long response to do and a shorter one after that lol))

If we are friends, can I call ya Dia? Good friends deserve nickname.
“If we’re friends, I’d like that a lot! Although, I admit you might have problems with Lucifer and some others.”
Lucifer doesn’t like when people drop the ‘Lord’ from his title let alone call him anything else.
“Are we friends? Or will we hopefully become friends?” He’s only got like two friends to his knowledge--two good friends, even, and he’s not sure about others. . .he’d like more friends. Kinda hard to make friends when you’re the Lord of the Devildom, though. “I’m looking forward to it either way!”

Young master, I simply wanted to inform you that I might be late in serving you tea today. There appears to be a rat infestation in the kitchen and I am currently in the... process of removing it. Please ignore any screams or unsavory words that you might hear. I will bake you an additional cake to make up for my tardiness. ~Barbatos
“If you insist on taking care of it yourself, then that’s alright.” ‘It’ being the infestation but, in theory, he’s pretty sure the infestation is a singular rat that Barbatos happened to catch sight of in a cabinet. He didn’t say anything about it earlier, after all. Besides they live in a multi-million year old castle, there’s going to be rodents. It bothers Barbatos far more than it bothers Diavolo, but he won’t stop him from maintaining order--it’s kind of his job after all. (And he’s never gonna complain about more cake.) “I don’t mind a little lateness, so there’s no rush; I’m hardly dying of thirst. Be careful! Please try not to obliterate the poor creature. Or the kitchen for that matter.”
Ignoring the screaming will be a little hard but. Not the first time there’s been unsavory screaming in the castle and he had to just ignore it. It’s mostly just his instinct to help that needs to be ignored. He has plenty of paperwork to mind while he waits--although he may simply decide this is ‘extended teatime’ and do something else while he waits instead--

i don’t know if you’ve seen this because it’s a human world show but you really remind me of michael from ‘the good place’ :D
"Unfortunately I've got limited exposure to human world media. But perhaps I can ask Barbatos to acquire me copies of it if they're available.
"Is Michael nice? I hope I'd be compared to a good character. Admittedly, that name will always make me think of the Archangel. . .I'm not certain how I feel about that particular comparison admittedly."
He makes a shocked expression, as if connecting dots. "If Michael is in The Good Place, is it a show about the Celestial Realm?"
Would that make the Devildom the Bad Place? He pouts a little at the thought. The Devildom is lovely. It's not a bad place at all. Sure there's an entire part of it dedicated to an ancient post-War agreement with the Celestial Father in which his followers who've not followed his rules may be punished indefinitely(depending on their understanding of them,) but the Devildom is a civilization first and foremost. . .!
